Folklore is an album to be experienced from start to finish without judging if its a Taylor Swift work or not, listen to it with an open mind and you’ll be surprised. Swift has come of age and this album is pure perfection. And when you remember that all this was accomplished while in isolation for four months you’ll be amazed at her genius. Imagine powerful words with an impact that distort your internalised beliefs. Being moved by something so marvellous that in that waking moment you’re more alive than ever before. A never-ending emotion of something wondrous surging through your blood, making you unconquerable.

Imagine powerful words with an impact that distort your internalised beliefs. Being moved by something so marvellous that in that waking moment you’re more alive than ever before. A never-ending emotion of something wondrous surging through your blood, making you unconquerable.

Like teetering on the edge of insanity of the mind blowing kind. It makes you aware of every single movement or slight. The thumping of your heart in your ears will not cease, will refuse to cease, because the moment is cathartic. Some emotions are too strong to successfully convey with ease. Words fall short because you're drowning in the depths of that feeling that's lifting your feet off the ground and slowly pushing you over the edge while your ears ring.

It lasts for a minute, maybe two, and you’ll scramble to feel it, over and over again, but how ironic that you wish to feel that fleeting ecstasy constantly when the reason it is euphoric is its momentary existence.

I had to put this out because music rarely defies every single odd for me but folklore made me feel. Constantly.

On "folklore" Taylor allows her heart to find true inspiration and for consequence we are able to witness her best work as an artist, mainly as a songwriter. Going against the current "80's" trend (which I am enjoying A LOT), Swift brings chill and calming songs that can truly help us reflect positively about life, sounding like a "fresh air" that can inspire us to make it through everything that has been going on for the last five months. On the other hand, the metaphors and powerful lyrics (a Taylor's classic) can send you to another world, a place for deep thoughts and reflections.
"folklore" isn't a mainstream pop album. It wasn't made to be sucessful on streaming playlists, not even made with short songs in order to count more plays. It's all about the concept, the experience and the feeling that it brings. It's about the way the music relates to your own thoughts, your own feelings and your own fairy tales.

At first good listen to Tailor's album folklore gives me the impression this a half baked album. The other part of the songs are belly button staring, stuttering and boring, for example illicit affairs. Too bad Tailor wasn't advised well on selecting songs.

The musical accompanimentation is hugely underwhelming. I dont care if this album was produced in Lockdown, with limited resources. It just sounds very bourgeois, uninspired and flat. Tailor should have worked with a producer like Daniel Lanois, somebody who is able to create a monumental musical body.

Most honest and heartfelt lyrics with the right accompanying music production I have heard from miss Swift. ❤️ Very well done from my point of view.

It's a sharp turn to the left for Swift and a fine reminder that she is more than just a gleaming pop phenomenon, but a remarkable songwriter too. [Oct 2020, p.36]

A modern-folk masterpiece which finds her moving from her previous pop bangers into stunningly simple yet sharp melodies, ‘folklore’ will be going down in Swiftie history as one of her most unexpected, and undoubtedly one of her best.

These 16 tracks (17 on the deluxe version) play out quite pleasurably in their entirety, the joins between Swift, Dessner and Antonoff ultimately only of niche interest. But Swift’s powerful songs reach their climaxes with bittersweet orchestrations, rather than blows to the solar plexus or a ringing in the ears. Everything hovers; little truly lands.
