Very different than usual Taylor. Lyrics on this album are phenomenal. Honestly her storytelling is amazing and better then ever. All songs are slow but I don’t mind it. I mean I’d love maybe one or two faster songs but whatever. Overall great body of work but not my favorite album by Taylor.

Taylor Swift’s artistry can be described in one word: GROWING.

Just like what she mentioned in her documentary, female artists constantly try to reinvent themselves but the thing about Taylor Swift is that everytime she switches her gears it comes off effortlessly. A genre like this for a huge pop star like her is risky and yet it didn’t feel like that at all. It was as if she was built

Expand

Truly her best album, she took an amazing route with little-to-no mainstream pop influence and she delivered. Jack Antonoff's production once again left me surprised, he is truly one of the best producers of the generation. Definitely hear some alternative and country influences, somewhat similar to the old Taylor Swift. 10/10 Album, definitely.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. “folklore” is by far the best album Taylor Swift has ever released. This album is something Swift had never done before. With its’ similarities to Lana Del Ray and Lorde, true fans will love this album. Back in 2017, Swift released “reputation” with a grayscale/black and white theme and “folklore” is very resemblant to that. Lyrically, it is very vulnerable and critics have compared it to “coming of age” films and I agree. Surprisingly, Bon Iver’s voice and Taylor’s go very well together on track “exile”. I love her storytelling on Rebekah Harness, the previous owner and heir to Swift’s Rhode Island mansion on “the last great american dynasty”. Overall a 13/10, “folklore” is Taylor Swift’s best album to date. Expand

It’s calm and peaceful, like an opposition to the growing fear and anger, which tear our society apart. It’s like a pure magic that Taylor managed to create something like that (and in total secret). Of course, it’s naively and unrealistic to claim that music can really solve the world’s problems (sorry, Bill and Ted...), but good music indeed can help people to take a short break, just to take a deep breath before diving back into reality. And maybe that short break will give us all the strength we need to recover... So let’s hope for the best and let’s listen to Taylor! Expand

A modern-folk masterpiece which finds her moving from her previous pop bangers into stunningly simple yet sharp melodies, ‘folklore’ will be going down in Swiftie history as one of her most unexpected, and undoubtedly one of her best.

These 16 tracks (17 on the deluxe version) play out quite pleasurably in their entirety, the joins between Swift, Dessner and Antonoff ultimately only of niche interest. But Swift’s powerful songs reach their climaxes with bittersweet orchestrations, rather than blows to the solar plexus or a ringing in the ears. Everything hovers; little truly lands.
