The album is a blurred photograph where Tay is reminiscing about old times with a calming neutrality. If I had to pick one song to compare the entire album with, I’d say it’s like a sober, blurred and black and white version of All too well. The songs deal with past relationships, a few references to her feud with Kanye West but mostly, it focuses on what Taylor does best, telling stories through her songs, creating imagery that takes us to a different world of her creation. The album also has a set of three songs (cardigan, August and Betty) which tell the story of a love triangle. We might get two more song videos for the other two songs since we already have the video of cardigan but we never know what Taylor is up to. Despite that, I am highly satisfied with this surprise album… Expand

    Swift starts off the new decade with her most ambitious and powerful album. The songs, which are proof of her brilliant songwriting wits, paint a clear aesthetic image of love and Swift does this in completely different way, unlike her previous albums. Listening to album was an experience. A major Album of the Year contender.

I hate being the person that says “I miss the old sound of this artist” because I understand that musicians have to evolve and explore their art... However, I did miss her old sound. This album blends well the ‘old Taylor’ and ‘new Taylor’ perfectly. Even when she was experimenting with pop music and the likes, her lyricism was beautiful but personally, since I’m not a big fan of western pop music (or at least the one they play on the radio nowadays), it distracted me from her beautiful storytelling; but with Folklore it was all about it.     The perfect place for Swift to take her career. After a few listens I’m just in shock that this whole project is real. One of the best albums ever made and for sure the album of the year. The soft indie/folk production does not cover the cutting like glass lyrics and overall the perspectives and story telling were at her best. Highly recommend.

    I'm genuinely so blown away. I was really nervous that she was changing her sound, but this is everything. It's soft but powerful. The lyrics and production are somehow so new for her but also right on brand. I really hope people give this album the recognition it deserves. Amazing to think she wrote and recorded this in 3 months during quarantine. Wow.

    "Folklore" is indeed one of the most iconic artistic masterpiece ever written. This is what i call artistic expression at it's finest. The way she perceives life and navigates through it, sharing all her experiences she's had since the start of her career till date poetically through the perspective of the fictitious characters she has created is commendable. It's one thing to feel the"Folklore" is indeed one of the most iconic artistic masterpiece ever written. This is what i call artistic expression at it's finest. The way she perceives life and navigates through it, sharing all her experiences she's had since the start of her career till date poetically through the perspective of the fictitious characters she has created is commendable. It's one thing to feel the music, but it's another thing entirely for it to become a part of our being, to flow as freely through us as blood. The way she captured her raw emotions and painted it on the canvas embellished with beautifully crafted songwriting accompanied with minimalist acoustically driven music and really simple yet refined, passionate and mature vocals is transcendental. She yet again proved to us that is undoubtedly one of the greatest lyricist of our generation. This album is one of the most cohesive piece of art she's ever created. It takes you on a journey to a whole new dimension and in the end, it ends on a good note, it's the retelling of forgotten tales, the sadness and pain of heartbreak, the happy and more authentic or in other words realistic side of love, it's everything wrapped in this delicate paper covered in sparkles. It cleanses your soul. And as Pericles had said, "what you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others." Thank you "Taylor Alison Swift" for gracing our lives with this timeless and evergreen piece of art during this dark filled with uncertainty period that we're the entire world is going through. I'm sure that this album will bring sunshine in the lives of billions and will give them strength to rise again.… Expand

    These 16 tracks (17 on the deluxe version) play out quite pleasurably in their entirety, the joins between Swift, Dessner and Antonoff ultimately only of niche interest. But Swift’s powerful songs reach their climaxes with bittersweet orchestrations, rather than blows to the solar plexus or a ringing in the ears. Everything hovers; little truly lands.
