Not even the one duff track, The Fool – which sounds slightly like a parody of The Steve Miller Band’s The Joker – can dull the intense emotional impact, nor stop it claiming a stake as one of The Menzingers’ very best.

Forging an immediate musical snapshot in time, and continuing their scene-leading storytelling ability with a narrative that both embraces and questions the very idea of permanence.

The punk purists who abandoned The Menzingers long ago will find little to enjoy on Everything I Ever Saw. It’s not particularly fast or aggressive and is full of pop melodies and warm guitar tones. But for those who appreciate the band’s mature output, the album is packed with great storytelling, melodic hooks, and strong vocals.

It certainly sounds like a Menzingers album, yet it lacks nearly all the lyrical features that made their 2010s work so loveably, painfully relatable.
