    A masterpiece! She's so raw, authentic and honest and her journey is such an inspiration. This album is her most creative work, it tells a narrative and every single track has a meaning and its own story behind it. I literally have no words, i couldn't be more proud of her.

    Such a huge turn from her last album but definitely not a bad one, sonically it’s very interesting and fun, with some heavier ballad songs. The lyrics are really great and this is probably her most cohesive album. Highly recommend.

    Is simply the best album Demi gave us so far. It's so unique, different from everything she ever sang. It seems like all the things that happened to her on those past 4 years as summarize on this album. Her vocals and songwriting have already been absolutely spectacular for years, but after a nearly fatal overdose in 2018, she went on hiatus to work on herself and her sobriety. Since coming on this uphill climb, her vocals and songwriting have skyrocketed, and so has her fame. The hype for her lead single, “Dancing With the Devil,” and the YouTube docuseries that went with it, was not overrated. She did not disappoint with those, and she certainly did not disappoint with this album. Every track is uniquely wonderful. There are some fun bops, such as “Met Him Last Night (ft. Ariana Grande)” and “My Girlfriends Are My Boyfriend (ft. Saweetie),” as well as soulful, heart-wrenching ballads such as “I.C.U (Madison’s Lullaby),” “The Way You Don’t Look at Me,” and “Butterfly.” There’s even several songs that are just so beautiful, poetic, full of powerhouse vocals, and tell such an insanely important story, such as “Lonely People,” “California Sober,” “The Art of Starting Over,” and many more. In addition, the “Intro” track (#4) is a powerful interlude explaining Demi’s journey and where she is today as a human being with many struggles. I’ve listened to many albums in my days, and I’ve been a hardcore, dedicated Demi Lovato fan for nine years, and I have never in my life heard such a wonderful body of work until this album. Though only four years spanned the time between Demi’s sixth studio album (“Tell Me You Love Me,” 2017) and her seventh studio album (“Dancing With the Devil... The Art of Starting Over,” 2021), her vocals, songwriting, and personal maturity in subject matter of her songs and in her own personality have grown so much. This album does not belong to just a former Disney star. This album belongs to a woman who went through so many difficulties and came out on the other side stronger than ever, fighting for a happier life she knows she deserves. And that is why the last track on the album is “Good Place,” an emotional song about finally being in a freeing place she’s wanted to be all along. I’ve never heard an album take its audience on such an eventful journey. This is going to be the best album of the year. Nobody could possibly regret purchasing this album, as everyone will find several songs on it that they can identify with or find comfort in. A must buy.… Expand

The pop, R&B and trap-influenced tracks worked well on Demi's repertoire for long time, however ballads seems to fit better with the mature girl we're listening now. Would y'all stop the hate for a minute so she can breathe? Those drug jokes used to be painful, and now they are... dull. Demi's growing, and you?

    Lovato's frankness is disarming, forcing a listener to reckon with the depths of the singer's distinction, yet the album works best when it veers toward lighter territory, letting the slick R&B rhythms and sugared hooks carry Lovato's emoting.

    The opening three tracks are almost an EP in their own right, before a quick reset. Semi title track ‘The Art Of Starting Over’ begins anew, a straight forward bop that gets to the root of Demi’s recovery – her natural talent, her ear for pop magic, affording room for personal renewal.
