Weird is not a bad movie but not a great one either. The story is not a biopic. It contains some truths but is largely, like the songs Al wrote, written over the real biopic. There was a lot of long moments,and the humour or drama, were very unequal. That said the actors are pretty good, the music also. I give it 65%, mostly for the actors. But that said, I skipped a lot of the movie after the half. I didn't find it funny or that interesting.… Expand

This is not a normal biopic, nor does it seek to be one. Kudos for that.
It's unbelievably goofy but for the sake of humor. It's not trying to be dumb for the sake of it, because believe me, this film could have gone that route without anyThis is not a normal biopic, nor does it seek to be one. Kudos for that.
It's unbelievably goofy but for the sake of humor. It's not trying to be dumb for the sake of it, because believe me, this film could have gone that route without any problem, but it chooses to work under better rules and mostly because its leading man Daniel Radcliffe gives himself completely to the role and keeps everything focused on what this story wants to do and achieves it with astounding ease.

Perhaps ultimately the film will mean nothing, even to his career, but clearly, he continues to prove with work, that his commitment is more than laudable, and his work is the best thing about this film and the main reason to see it for those who have no idea who Weird Al Yankovic is.
Needless to say that if you do know, the movie is a must see.… Expand

At no point ever have I looked at Daniel Radcliffe and thought "You know who this guy reminds me of? Weird Al." And he still doesn't. He basically looks like a guy who dressed up as Weird Al for Halloween. No wait. Apparently Radcliffe was really singing so it didn't look like lip-synching but with Weird Al doing the actual vocals. But it somehow looks even more like lip-synching

Personally I had a brief stint in the 80s/90s where I enjoyed Weird Al. So I found the movie amusing at best. I think you'd probably have to be more of a fan to really appreciate it. The movie itself isn't bad and there's some mildly amusing stuff. I mean it's an ok watch but for me it wasn't something I'll remember in a week and not something I'd watch again.… Expand

Pretty silly. I like that it was self aware but the whole thing for the malt part is half truths or didn’t even happen. It can be funny at some times and Daniel does a good job at selling the movie.
