This could've turned out a lot worse. Sure its incredibly generic and mis cast. But there is still fun to be had with the film. As a massive fan of the gaming franchise, the little nods to the games where very welcomed and much appreciated. The script features basic character development, but the dialogue is awful. I can't really say its a good script therefore. The pacing is uneven, we start in an action scene so we spend the next hour just eagerly anticipating that action scene to return, we lose track of everything else because its not what we care about. Holland and Walberg do have chemistry, even if they aren't right for the roles. Can't say I look forward to the future of this franchise, and whilst I stand behind the fact that this is not a good film. Atleast it can be entertaining one, and there is a lot worse it could've done.… Expand

A great action-adventure film. It's definitely a fun movie to sit down and watch. It's not bad as some make it out to be unless you're expecting the storyline to resemble the game which it definitely does not and is not intended to be. ThisA great action-adventure film. In this movie you get nothing but a 22 year old actor and Mark Walburg that doesn't have any acting skills, the team is horrible, acting is bad, action is bad, the main 'boss' is bad and lacks on screen time and the puzzles are bad. I'd rather watch every single Indiana Jones movie than watch this movie again.

Sony lacks talent to move their IP's to a big screen. Sony is more about milking the fan-base than actually building a great video game to movie adaptation.… Expand

I was worried about this one going in because the uncharted series is my favorite games and many game movies aren't that great but the Uncharted movie was awesome! They changed a couple of things from drakes orgin story but it works with the movie and feels like certain things are set up for future movies. The movie had the same spirit and feel as the games. Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg are both great as Nathan and Sully, and have great banter together. Lots of crazy action and Easter eggs! It also a movie you could take your whole family to. I really enjoyed this movie and would recommend it to anyone who loves the games and anyone who's never played them too. I can't wait for the sequels!… Expand

Enjoyable Game Adaptation with inspiration from Indiana jones.
Sure some roles were miscast however Tom Holland did a solid job as Nate.
It's a treasure hunt action packed with chases, gunfights and puzzles.

LOVED the movie! Went in with tempered expectations. Wasn't sure about Tom Holland as Drake, and Mark Wahlberg as Sully. By the end of the movie, they definitely grew into the roles. As adaptations of video games go, this Uncharted movie definitely sits towards the top of the list in both quality and enjoyment.

If you've ever seen Indiana Jones, The Mummy, National Treasure,Jumanji etc, you won't find anything revolutionary about the plot.

There are all the expected elements... ancient keys, secret tombs, lost treasure, underdeveloped bad guys, nothing that hasn't been done in the genre before. Yet despite treading this well worn path, Uncharted gets the execution right and manages to always be fun and entertaining.

Overall I got what I wanted from this movie. I was entertained for two hours and had a good time. If a sequel gets the green light then I'll definitely be booking a ticket.… Expand

These critics literally have no joy in watching films anymore. I have been an Uncharted fan since the first game came out on November 19, 2007. It was the first game I bought when I bought a PS3. I was very disappointed when I read they casted Holland and Wahlberg since they don’t fit with the characters I grew up playing in the games. But after watching this movie; they weren’t that bad. For sure the casting choices weren’t my first choice. This movie is a video game movie; how the hell are people trying to compare physics and logic into. As a original fan of Uncharted, I give this a watch it! I just wish they had actually used the game theme song in the movie as the main theme song throughout the film. It was literally already composed; all you had to do was copy and paste the game soundtrack into the movie! Just a wasted opportunity.… Expand

Ruben Fleischer, the director nailed the narrative and the story self-explains as it evolves by unshadowing the many mysteries laid at the beginning...
the actors nail Nathan Drake and Sully, creating a good chemistry between the actors, who in my opinion nail it. Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg are pretty much the perfect duo Nathan & Sully...

The movie is awesome to see at a 4DX where I have seen it and it brings back a great feeling of awesomeness I haven't felt since "Indiana Jones" times.

My recommendation: A great movie worth watching in the cinema, and as it is an action one, better in 4DX!… Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Unlike most video game movie adaptations, Uncharted is quite refreshing and shows us the origin of the lovely story that is Nathan Drake. Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg, while not fan-favorite choices, do a good job of embodying the spirit and banter of the franchise’s two main characters, Nathan “Nate” Drake and Victor "Sully" "Goddamn" Sullivan. Uncharted is a clear service to longtime fans of the series. Taking huge inspiration from the games in one of the Uncharted series most iconic scenes. A sense of adventure along with large-scale, over-the-top, well-choreographed action sequences that some may find obnoxious but are reminiscent of their video game counterpart. A couple of emotional and goosebump-inducing callbacks to the video games including an amazing nostalgic scene with the original voice actor of Nate, Nolan North. A nod to Greg Edmonson's “Nate’s Theme” as Tom Holland’s Drake dons the iconic gun holsters. All this while also bringing a new enjoyable interpretation for newcomers to the series. While there may be some corny jokes, forgettable villains, and questionable casting choices, how director Ruben Fleischer managed to encapsulate some but not all of Uncharted’s glory into this 1 h 56-minute movie deserves some recognition. While it cannot compare to the G.O.A.T. of treasure hunter movies in Indiana Jones, it plays second fiddle pretty well. I think fans of the game along with newcomers introduced to the story of Nathan Drake through this movie will find it to be good and with hints in after-credit scenes be excited for more to come.… Expand

Tom Holland doesn't convince as Nathan Drake, it looks some else characters,as well as Mark's Sully and Sophia's Chloe. Chloe's and Sully's personality looked more like Marisa Chase and Jason Dante from Uncharted: Golden Abyss. Uncharted has no pretention of being anything but a two hours Escape Game fun romp spiked with witty banters, action scenes and the barest of characterization needed to keep the stakes high and events involving. And I think that's perfectly fine. Not every movie needs to redefine the medium and being fun for the sake of being fun is a valid approach to movie making.

So, with that said, how does Uncharted fare when judged for what it wants to be and not what you wished it was ?

It's... genuinely great ?
Its biggest strength has to be the pacing : nothing feels superfluous. Scenes fluidly transition from one setpiece to the next, every interaction serves a purpose and new elements are constantly introduced ; the heroes obviously succeed but every plan is met with unforeseen complications solved by quick thinking and skill, a constant back and forth keeping you on edge. Yes, this isn't breaking any new ground, but it's done flawlessly and consistently, which is almost as impressive as the action itself.

Would I recommend watching Uncharted ?
Depends on what you're looking for in a movie. Uncharted does one thing almost perfectly and offers nothing else : if you're not here for larger-than-life characters chewing the scenery you've come to the wrong movie.… Expand

in the ship there is a dialogue scene in which a digital tom holland reacts to wahlberg. in this one, wahlberg has a different hairstyle from one second to the next. By the way, this is the most remarkable scene in the entire film.

And suddenly 15 years later and 25 years old Nate meets Victor, but in the original game it happened at 15 years old (if I'm not mistaken). Nate works in a bar and steals from a rich woman the girl's necklace, which Sully took for Nate to come and join his team of 1.5 people.Then they go to the auction together to steal part of the key. I went into the Uncharted movie with low expectations. I enjoyed the games but I thought the casting was strange,I still do after seeing it but can’t say any of the main cast did a bad job. Even Mark Wahlburg as Sully won me over by the end and honestly got some of the best lines/laughs of the film. Tom Holland does a decent job as Nate and I can see him growing into the role as this film series (yes there will be sequels) goes on. The action scenes were great but my favourite part was actually half way through where the 3 main lead characters had to work as a team to solve a series of puzzles. The bad guy is a bit cliche but there are twists & turns I didn’t see coming.
Yes the action set pieces are over the top,silly and a little unrealistic but then so are the ones in the games which it mimics so well. Don’t go into this expecting Indiana Jones but this not a negative, this film has it’s own style which I like about it (ok the only thing I saw copied from Indy were the map scenes as the plane travelled across the globe) If you leave your brain behind and just go into it without overthinking the silliness/ridiculous of some of the situations they find themselves in then you will have fun in the 2 hours runtime characters had to work as a team to get thr… Expand

This movie was absolutely incredible, it had lots of callbacks to the games which made me very happy, and seeing Nolan North was amazing! Couldn’t recommend the movie anymore to a fan of the games

I don't know what the negative reviews are all about. Uncharted is exactly what you think it's going to be. Cheesy dialogue, big action scenes and mindless fun. Was a pleasant surprise and i didn't come with a lot of expectations.

I never thought the soundtrack would be this bad. To the point were it harms the movie. A complete and utter miss that was. With weird cuts and with no impacts on theWas a pleasant surprise and i didn't come with a lot of expectations.

Any other music would have done a better job at this point. I get that they wanted the best since they hired the composer Ramin Djawadi but he didn't take this project seriously and it shows. For someone this talented(really good) something feels off because any human being that can hum a melody with their mouth can come up with something better.(but you be the judge).

I feel sad that i remember only hearing the game's theme song at the credit roll.

The casting was really good. The dialogs were kept light but always with intent and the action kept flowing. A good introduction for non fans.

 Whenever there is great complicity between actors in a movie it always shows. The best thing about this movie in my opinion is Drake and Sully's relation and its culmination towards the end. Made it worthwhile.
I think for the way it was presented and shown throughout there should be a second one and i am looking forward to it.
Mark Wahlberg pulled off a badass young Sully. Egotistical, a-hole, sensitive, funny and greedy with a heart of gold.

Keep in mind that they are doing the young version of the characters.
Lot of good compromises for only 2 hours and still the essence of uncharted is there at every corner.

There was a weird moment were a character in a scene was Cropped like the first time i used photoshop.
Apart from that best cgi

Much better than I thought. This is an origin movie. So I imagine the sequel will be a little more free to improve on verdin aspects of the plot. They missed the mark with the movie's score. I really good adventure classic, i really loves these Indiana jones,Pirate of the carrabien like movies.
Overall things are good and with good pacing which makes for good, if not particularly memorable, entertainment.
