The writing is atrocious, the gore (which I normally love) felt overdone, and like a shiny object they used to make you forget the atrocious special effects and "storyline". They butchered the personalities of incredibly iconic characters and the only thing that made it bearable was Sebastian and King Shark. Im a huge fan of Harley Quinn and Peacemaker but I couldn't even stomach their characters. There were a couple of funny scenes here and there but honestly... it was so cheesy and poorly written that im heavily considering investing in a neuralyzer. If someone knows Agent Ks number please tell him to give me a ring. Expand

Not with the acting or the dialogues. Not with the characters. Not with the plot twists which receives very little attention and acknowledgement because it is not a real twist when you recycle old ideas.
Cheap attempts of giving a back story to the characters, which just highlights even more how little they had tried with the plot in the first place.
Lots of things happen with very little purpose. They just jammed everything that the audience might have wanted in there, without adding much to it. 'Cuz who cares, right?
Good job. Worst movie I have watched in a very long time. And with the cast you had, it must have been hard to achieve. Congrats.

Whilst looking at a team from a different perspective was an interesting one, never in my life I thought I'd see a movie fail so hard on every single aspect, from acting, to writing. From action, to CGI.
The film feels sluggish from the first 5 minutes despite being incredibly packed with action. The chemistry and camaraderie from the characters is forced and unnatural and its ending comes out of nowhere and leaves, almost as if the movie was rushed to be finished off.
This is a zero.

I have no idea why they bothered releasing it with an R rating, at least kids would've been far less critical of it, but yeah the only well known DC character it has is Harley Quinn, so no way they could market it to children. There is no continuity of what people can and cannot take throughout the film, especially considering the opening sequence. The most amazing thing is that the main threat is an analogy for Covid-19 being research in China by the US. For being bold enough to release this movie anyway, I give it an extra +0.5.

I counted about over 9 villains and still I couldn't follow who was supposed to be the main issue for the overall story because really they all posed the same amount of threat. Aka they were all easily taken down.along with that nothing made sense with whole spear gig
to cut it short it was too much happening at once.i didn't even know the guys name was blood sport until I googled it.
I would give it one star because I enjoyed the shark but that would just be pity.im sorry I didn't enjoy.

The entire movie was filled with over the top jokes that almost always fell flat. Idris Elba and Margot Robbie really saved this movie from being a complete disaster. John Cena is painful to watch, and the rest of the characters were OK. There were quite a few scenes where it seems they were told to just improve, and it never worked. There's also no build up or tension in these movies anymore, instead it seems James Gunn is intent on trying to jam in as much content as possible within the 2 hour time block. On the plus side, there was some interesting visual scenes and artistic direction. Unfortunately it was often overshadowed by how intentionally over the top the entire movie was. Expand

It is a good movie, but it's nowhere near the best superhero movies. These heroes can fight a space starfish (no spoilers if you watch the trailers) but are easily subdued by some human police. It was bland for a big portion of the time. It's a Troma film with budget. James Gunn is very lucky to come full circle 20 years later, but this is a lot of DC fanboys trying to claim some territory. Definitely not even Top 10 superhero film in my book. Expand

Just about watchable if you have a high threshold for campy 80s Chuck Norris/A Team series served up a heavy side order of flaccid dick jokes and daytime drama dialogue made up entirely of word cloud sourced cliches. Every now and againJust about watchable if you have a high threshold for campy 80s Chuck Norris/A Team series served up a heavy side order of flaccid dick jokes and daytime drama dialogue made up entirely of word cloud sourced cliches. Every now and again someone says the F word in a way that only serves to elevate their grown ass embarrassment at using expletives while dressed in costumes any self-respecting WWE wrestler should have serious misgivings about John Cena.

To be fair, Margot Robbie's Quinn is the highlight. This is the first time her character is shown not to be solely an attention seekingly psycho-babe, perhaps because she's got more to do and less to say she shines all the brighter for it. David Dastmalchian's Polka Dot Man is another highlight, his superhero 'powers' are more an affliction that he comes to terms with before eventually accepting them and himself for what he is.

Everything else is crud.

Idris Elba is not Will Smith. As lovely as Elba seems, on the big screen he comes across as stiff, charmless, and never feels as though he's entirely comfortable in his own skin. How someone who can be so charming and such a commanding presence in roles made for the smaller screen can feel so out of place on the big screen I've no idea. Ditto Joel Kinnaman, fantastically watchable as Holder in The Killing before buffing up to become a flex of muscle on which to hang quippy dialogue in a way that makes you question whether the character is actually smart enough to come up with it in the first place.

Viola Davis does her best as the angry boss every cop movie cop had to report to in the 80s. She nails it, which only goes to prove how many leagues above this awfulness she belongs to and should never ever stray from again. Plotwise: the bad guy is a big alien starfish which, when all is said and done, is dispatched with pointed unfussiness. So there's that. But first, endless redcoat deaths that matter not a jot to anyone must be trudged through with the same kind of relentless lack of imagination that believes everything tastes better with ketchup.

If you were hoping for something special in the visual effects you'll be left hugely disappointed. The whole thing looks like some undergrad found ALL THE BUTTONS and decided that because they were there that was enough of a good reason to dictate that they all had to be used. When you can literally see where the layers are stacked you know someone's head isn't in the game because they've got the horn for it and can't hold themselves back. The options for the scenes seem to have been: A/ CGI TF out of everything until it looks like its been shot with an instagram filter set to 150%; B/ Use whatever set is available anywhere in the 1970s for interiors as long as it's cheap and doesn't wobble too much.

Seriously makes me wonder what promise of star/studio access and/or advertising bump was given to reviewers who scored this anything above mediocre.

Finally, I have watched it and was disappointed.
Since this is a non-spoiler review so I am not going to give actual story let downs but the movie sucks in many ways.
To be honest, the action is irrelevant at most of the places and lacks in most of the places. Initial DCEU movies had far better action sequences.
Characters are not used correctly and you will see the repetitive content almost every 10 mins. This movie's overall story is very less as compared to the last one.
Some jokes are fine but still, I have not paid to watch some jokes and 40 mins of content to a movie.
People liking Bloodsport is fine but to be honest, we don't get options to like any more characters. But I can tell you that he is no match for the Deadshot. The overall movie feels predictive and lacks the vision. 80% of the characters are not used in the correct way.

It's a disappointment.

If you are unfamiliar with Troma Team movies, they are extremely low quality, very crude, and riddled with excessive gore and/or childish poop/fart humor typically in the form of cheesy unfunny slapstick scenes or dialog.

This is the type of humor you would expect from Hollywood today, and the type of mindless filth you would expect the modern American to voraciously consume and mimic. This is clearly an adult movie, yet it seems to be intended for young teens based on marketing and the maturity level of the "humor". Yet another step toward complete infantile absurdism without any real substance, like a firehose of high pressure raw sewage being pumped into your mind. The official "taste makers" and "professional critics" have given this movie their blessing because it is "business as usual" (meaning it reinforces the ever lengthening state of arrested development) and is therefore safe. What's sad is people are actually swayed by their opinion still.

I am not surprised James Gunn was involved with this, the type of guy who thinks pedophilic rape is funny, and those that would continue to employ such a person would predictably create such wretched mental detritus and consider it entertainment. I have not seen the whole movie yet but so far at 40 minutes in, at least I haven't had any political agendas shoved down my throat. It's a sad state of affairs when people think lives should be destroyed over a difference of opinion, but making pedophilic rape jokes is no big deal because they were a few years old...

Its OK.

It is incredibly flawed, but its OK.

As someone who bleeds DC it really hurt to rate this as low as I did. Its above average but not a revelation.

The comedy is the key strength and it starts off strong in this department but starts to lull and lose steam starting in the last 45 minutes.

The cast is largely OK. This was a major redemption for Robbie as Harley after the solo movie was so rancid.

The majority of the main cast put in decent performances. As expected Elba was good, as was Kinnaman. What they did with Stalone was pleasantly unexpected, albeit it INCREDIBLY derivative of Groot. While she did OK there was entirely too much screen time dedicated for Daniela Melchior as she was only there to humanize these characters which misses the point.

Cena was a poor mans Rock and it really shows. Hes not as bad as the goofy 80s wrestlers when they tried to act but hes for the most part just there. He is intended to be comic relief but being stupid isnt really funny.

That leads into the real problems. The writing is by far the weakest element. Some of the comedy is great, but you really get the feeling that this was Gunn's catharsis of being underneath the thumb of the plague rats standard operating procedures. So of course its pointlessly profane, with excessive nudity both female and male. Adding basically nothing to the end product. Visually its almost uneventful for the source material. All of this amounts to a production that is like a 14 year olds dream flick knowing a 14 year old is not supposed to be the target demographic. Just like Disney super hero movies this incarnation of suicide squad was wrung out of depth and stuffed with tropes instead of exposition. Granted no one comes to a super hero movie expecting Shakespeare, but this should have been better than a contrived and derivative mindless popcorn muncher bomb that lulls you to sleep with how "awesome" it thinks it is.

Honestly I would give this a high D, but its barely passing cause once the comedy runs out halfway through its just a slog to get through the last quarter of the film.

So Ill give it an appropriate 6.9 and yeah honestly rounding down to a 6 because I expected better from DC. This wasnt supposed to be dirty Disney but that is basically what we got and that is not acceptable.

Been so excited for this movie for a while and it did not disappoint. Easily my favourite film in the DCEU. Almost everything about it was great in my opinion, and I just had a total blast the entire time. First off the characters were great here, far better than the ones in the first movie. It’s hard to choose a favourite because I felt that they all offered a ton to the movie. I’d probably say Ratcatcher was one of the main highlights for me, she was definitely the heart of the movie and I did feel for her character, she was just so sweet and innocent. Idris Elba as Bloodsport was great as the leader of the group, Rick Flag was far better than last time, King Shark was hilarious, John Cena as Peacemaker was awesome, and so on. Again I enjoyed everyone here. The action was phenomenal as well. The movie uses the R rating so well with tons of gruesome moments) and there’s a lot of badass scenes (one of the highlights for me was with Harley Quinn) who I forgot to mention was really good here, still debating if it’s my favourite interpretation of her in the DCEU though. I also loved the style of the movie. The way it would transition between scenes with text pop ups was really smart, and I loved the way they integrated them into the scenery. Cinematography wise it was great as well. Loved the look of everything, and I found the CGI to have no weak spots, unlike a lot of the other DCEU films. If there was one negative I had, it would be the humour. There’s a lot of funny stuff here, but for James Gunn, I thought there would have been more laugh out loud moments. So comparing this to the GOTG movies, I’d say they’re funnier to me (definitely smarter with their humour.) Overall I loved this film and I can’t wait to see it a second time, which I’ll be sure to do in IMAX again. Definitely my favourite DCEU film and probably one of my favourite CMB movies of all time. (With a second viewing, I could easily see this going up to a 10) I have a small second negative which is kind of a spoiler, so don’t read further, just know that I loved this! Expand

- Бладспорт - получился очень живым и интересным персонажем, а его ирония и безысходность, а также земмифобия просто бесценны;
- Харли Квинн - боже мой именно в этом фильме показан её самый лучший и каноничный образ. Именно здесь она наконец-то превращается в ту драйвовую антигероиню, которую мы так сильно полюбили: одинаково обаятельную и сумасшедшую. Она без умолку болтает и совершенно непредсказуемо реагирует на любую ситуацию. Она просто невероятна;
- Рик Флэг - после 1-го фильма очень сильно изменился, стал куда более комедийным героем, смотрится это гораздо лучше;
- Миротворец - безжалостный, опасный, но тупой. Получился нормальным. А соперничество с Бладспортом - это вообще настоящая ржака;
- Крысолов 2 – персонаж, которую можно назвать чуть ли не единственным по-настоящему добросердечным персонажем в фильме, и этим она на многое в истории влияет. Лично для меня это лучший персонаж фильма. А Себастиан - милашка;
- Человек-в-Горошек - неплох, в целом вышел достаточно простым и по-своему интересным персонажем, больше добавить нечего;

Director James Gunn uses his talents to inject the film with his trademark comedic style. Over-the-top violence and physical comedy carry The Suicide Squad (2021) far, but sometimes too far. Poor writing creeps in with lazy crude humor, and due to the dedication to non-stop action the film often feels hallow. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. How come DC make such a bad movie, everything is so predictable, OH there is gore, what a shock! (Actually not cuz the whole movie industry is literally using gore) And then, Ooh! A character die from out of nowhere! Another one! And...another one...Wow...another character died...What a surprise...And why tf did they make Starro a naive traveler when he is literally the conqueror of NINE galaxys???????? Everything in this movie is not only predictable, but forced and overused. Like, ok DC, we got it, you're dark and you use overused gore in order to make people think your movies are "mature" (when they are really just for teenagers who think they are edgy and psychopath, when in reality, they are lame) You all need to understand; Blood, gore and cursing isnt mature, its actually childish to think you're mature just because you can take this ****
Another problem; We get told that bloodsport sent Sups to the Hospital...ok...where is that in the timeline? was it after the league? before the league? Why are they just making spin off instead of making connected movies?
I'd give a 1 bcuz of the rat girl and king shark, but nah...just remember, kids and angry edgy teenagers; Gore doesnt make you mature nor an adult.
And its so confusing, too long, too much, like, PLEASE, how long you're going to drag the movie? Just so rats can kill Starro?Like wtf

I think it's because they want to rush too much. And they started to make Superman vs Batman movie without enough single hero movies before. It should be like a comic movie that has a few main characters first and then make the team movie. But this one is a very good commercial and entertainment film. Most people will love it even if they don't know anyone except the joker girl. This movie is much better than the first one and the Harley Quinn movie. I think it's also better than the Wonder Woman movie, the Wonder Woman movie looks more for the lower age audiences. After all, this is a R rated movie. The director of this movie is also the director of Guardians of the Galaxy. There are various people in this movie, but even if you don't recognize any of them, the movie is still pretty good. If you look at it this way, the movie shows the director's personal style in full. I don't know if the high-level Warner people intervene this movie or not. I enjoyed watching it very well, I suggest you to watch it! As soon as possible! Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. 6.5 out of 10. Although it was definitely an entertaining film, it let me down a bit. I feel like a lot was given away by the trailers. The best jokes, the best shots (King Shark ripping the man in half and Harley going full berserker with flower pedals exploding behind her), and some key details of the film (that there were going to be two suicide squad teams with the Harley, Boomerang, Weasel, TDK, Savant, Javalin, and Mongal being a team that would likely be wiped out early in the film resulting in Harley needing [not really] to be rescued AND that Polka Dot Man was almost certainly going to die after declaring himself a hero) were all given away in the trailers.

Other than that, the film was very enjoyable just a bit predictable due to poor marketing. The best surprises were how cool Bloodsport's gimmick ending up looking and how well done Ratcatcher 2's story was - on an emotional level.

The Suicide Squad is a sequel/semi-reboot to the critically panned Suicide Squad (2016). The 2016 movie tried to replicate James Gunn's Guardian of the Galaxy but failed miserably. So for the second Suicide Squad movie, why not just hiredThe Suicide Squad is a sequel/semi-reboot to the critically panned Suicide Squad (2016). The 2016 movie tried to replicate James Gunn's Guardian of the Galaxy but failed miserably. So for the second Suicide Squad movie, why not just hired James Gunn himself? The premise is "The government sends the most dangerous supervillains in the world -- Bloodsport (Idris Elba), Peacemaker (John Cena), King Shark (Sylvester Stallone), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) and others -- to the remote, enemy-infused island of Corto Maltese. Armed with high-tech weapons, they trek through the dangerous jungle on a search-and-destroy mission, with only Col. Rick Flag on the ground to make them behave". So is this a failed mission or is it one to remember?

Firstly, The Suicide Squad is an absolute blast to watch as it contains all of James Gunn's iconic charm from GoTG. There are the characters with their vibrant and distinct personalities, even for characters of limited screen time. The visuals are stylistic, from war looking jungles to colourful fever dreams that are contrasting but mesh well together. The pounding and awesome soundtrack returns but are utilized more effectively here than the 2016 version. The action scenes range from cool to even downright bonkers which is just so entertaining. Of course, The Suicide Squad is also very hilarious with a lot of laughs.

One thing in The Suicide Squad that is different from GoTG is the hard R Rating which James embraces. The action scenes are ultra-violent in their blood and gore with the destruction feeling very impactful. James Gunn also uses the R rating to allow for some dark humour which just really works. The characters in The Suicide Squad are mostly composed of B-tier villains but James manages to make us take some of them relatively seriously by giving them some depth. The biggest surprises have got to be Ratcatcher 2 (Daniela Melchior), Polka dot man (David Dastmalchian) and Peacemaker (John Cena). Ratcatcher 2 is the heart of this film as she is the one with the kindest nature in the team and her powers of controlling rats are made more interesting and cooler thanks to James Gunn. Polka dot man sounds incredibly stupid but is made very sympathetic in a weird way. Peacemaker is a douche but I do love his rivalry with Bloodsport (Idris Elba).

On that note, the actors all do an excellent job. Margot Robbie was already great as Harley but she has embodied the character perfectly to the point I can't see any other actress as Harley. Idris Elba is still charming as the gruff guy and while it is a role he played many times before, he is still great at it. John Cena isn't an actor I am fond of but he puts a lot more acting chops in The Suicide Squad which was surprising to see. The others are also great and it is very clear that they are having a real fun time in the role including returning actors from Suicide Squad (2016). The story of The Suicide Squad is very simple but engaging thanks to the characters and the unexpected twist and turns. It also explores some interesting themes including corrupt governments. The Suicide Squad is advertised as anyone can die and there are some surprising deaths for sure.

However, due to the huge amount of characters and cast, some get killed off without really getting to do anything significant which is a shame. There are also a lot of shots where it is just a lot of grey and dullness to it. We got grey buildings, grey rooms and grey offices which are just not that interesting to look at. There is also one plot thread that was disappointing which is Bloodsport and his relationship with his daughter. His relationship with his daughter is very sour but his daughter being threatened by Waller is the reason for him joining the squad. Yet we don't get a proper resolution to this apart from one line that kind of resolves it but in a very unsatisfying way. Additionally, Bloodsport's character arc just sort of happens. I wish they gave him more scenes or flashbacks to build it up instead of just one conversation with Ratcatcher 2.

Overall, The Suicide Squad is everything Suicide Squad (2016) should've been. It's fun, joyful and off the walls crazy in the most entertaining of ways. James Gunn and WB succeed in delivering a successful DCEU entry and this makes me very hopeful for this cinematic universe.

Marvel/Disney or one of their countless imitators still put out enough to tickle my fancy from time to time, but I'm finding it more and more difficult to get truly excited about whatever big event is on its way to theaters (or streaming) next, when the majority of it is either another by the numbers cape-and-costume flick or a remake/revival of some long-dormant nostalgia property that probably would have been better off left in the past. Heck, even the stuff not connected to a grand cinematic universe is often guilty of following the exact same formula with the hopes of achieving a little taste of the box office domination regularly experienced by the comic book characters in their tights and spandex, and that distinctive MCU style of shoehorning comedy into everything has been slowly creeping its way into so much as the bloody horror genre as of late.

That's one area where the DCEU has kind of impressed me. Yeah, the results have been mixed at best to put it lightly, but at the very least Warner Bros. and DC Films have shown a willingness to attempt unique things with most of the various properties they've added to it so far. The Suicide Squad standing as a fine example of that.

In an effort to make up for the absolute disaster that was 2016's Suicide Squad movie, James Gunn was reportedly given almost complete freedom to come up with his own vision for the project and put it onscreen as he saw fit. The end result isn't something that radically breaks the mold, but rather works well enough within the confines of it to put some one of a kind spins on the established set of familiar elements and walk away with an identity all its own.

Gunn is obviously extremely educated in the various obscure nooks and crannies of DC Comics long history, and liberally pulls from lesser known corners of it to deliver a bevy of names and plot devices only the most hardcore of nerds will recognize and that nobody would have ever guessed would make their way to the screen at some point. Ditching the ghetto Hot Topic costume designs of its predecessor and its kind of, sort of spin-off Birds of Prey, the appearances of the villains here are often very faithful to, or a creative new take on, their comic book counterparts. Which naturally leads to a cast of faces, as well as powers, that honestly look blatantly odd next to each other, gleefully reveling in the absurd diversity of uniting such awide array of source material, and I'm 100% here for it.

The expected blend of action and humor gets a little extra flavor due to the R-rating. All the naughty words and gore manage to differentiate themselves from what you'd find in Deadpool thanks to the singular personality and attention to detail of the director. So every gag and bloodbath compliments the surprisingly great story well, while giving each member of the team a real, significant sense of contribution Guardians of the Galaxy-style. I can't praise the narrative enough for really tackling the supremely messed up nature of Task Force X and getting me invested in the political side of a superhuman conflict in a way I haven't since The Winter Soldier. For all the laughs and goofs, this is a legitimately dark tale with a lot of bodies left behind against their will and a conclusion that's just a touch tragic since nobody will ever find out the true reason behind why these prisoners were sent basically to die.

While this does nothing to grant us any insight into what's next for the DCEU or if its owners actually have any idea what they're doing with it at all, it does however finally give fans the Suicide Squad adaptation they deserve, while managing to standout from the pack by the virtue of its individualistic flourishes. Despite my overall fatigue and somewhat indifference with the whole superhero craze lately, I'd be legitimately interested in and hyped for a third outing. Particularly if James Gunn's name is attached to it again. Which is saying quite a bit when you consider how much of the MCU and its far more proven track record I still have to play catch-up on because of how willing I've been to let it pass me by at present.

This film is AMAZING! Easily one of the best comic book films I've ever seen. Things that I liked:
You never know which characters are going to make it or die, so there is genuine tension and surprise throughout the movie.
The plot is fast paced and engaging. I was engaged immediately and stayed that way till the end. There are also quite a few plot twists which totally make sense, but nonetheless took me by surprise.
I found this film HILARIOUS. Like there were numerous times where I and the rest of the theatre were all rolling with laughter.
Things I didn't like:
Harley Quin started to grate on me somewhat at some points... she can be kinda annoying and is the only one of the team with plot armour... but eh, she wasn't too bad.
And that's it. All in all this film was an incredibly fun viewing experience. 10/10, would reccomend.

I am worried that the pandemic will make The Suicide Squad look like a lesser success than 2016's Suicide Squad. That first movie is NOT the way to make a movie. But money talks loudest in Hollywood. We'll have to wait and see. And maybe a simultaneous theatrical and streaming release is not the best approach. F9 seems to be doing great because Universal released theatrically in June 25, then on streaming on July 30, over a month later. By August, worldwide box office is $643 million. Finally, there's a factor Warner Bros. could not have predicted, the Delta variant will likely depress theatrical screenings. F9 and A Quiet Place 2 both didn't have to cope with the variant.

Nehh... Idris Elba's Bloodspot was kickass dope, same goes for John Cena's Peacemaker, but only Polka-dot Man, Rat-Catcher and Harls I'd say grew on me. At the heart of it all tho, this movie's loads of fun! Do give it a watch, just beware the gore. Expand

It's been a while since a good comic-book movie and I think that Suicide Squad was the film I needed. Great action-sequences from all characters.

Es una lástima que haya fracasado en taquilla, ya que merece más recaudación de la que tuvo su predecesora.

The major issue was that Peacemaker didn't smash the item (trying to stay spoiler free) and then the plot continue on based on that fact. The smaller issue was the gore. I don't have a problem with gore, but like many things in life, moderation and timing is key. Gunn seemed to use it more freely which watered it down and made it less "cool." Other than that, it was refreshing. Better than the other recent superhero flick, Shang Chi (which is also good but just a little less so). Expand

I was losing hope in the super hero movies, after the infinite war these kind of movies just went down the drain and got ****tier and ****ter, but this one is a really good movie, great characters decent story nothing amazing really but the characters are the ones who make the movie, every single actor gave his best and you can see it and feel it and hear it even Stallone did a great job whit all of the 10 lines he had to read. Over all a great movie that if you are a real super hero fanatic you will enjoy.

That 0 is no exaggeration. This might be the worst film I've ever seen. We had to walk out of the theatre it was so bad. From the soundtrack, to the meaningless plot and action scenes I'm not even sure who this movie was made for.

Not a perfect movie, but it was entertaining. Wish they would have pressed the issue a bit more and have the "heroes" be more involved at the end.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Gunn shows that in the right hands DC properties can thrive on screen, unfortunately these hands aren't there to stay. It was kinda funny to me that it took a director from Marvel to make the first great DC movie in over a decade, yet DC and its actors still attempt to talk **** on Marvel lol. Though this was the best thing to come out of the "DCEU" so far it is not without its faults, most notably the humor falling flat in certain scenes, and while watching this I noticed that most of those scenes involved Quinn. DC has been trying their asses off to make Quinn into a fan favorite, almost like a reverse Deadpool, and while they have gained some traction it felt like many of her scenes were added in post production due to their lack of relevance to the plot (I would theorize that if so it was at WB's behest). But honestly though all the best scenes aside from watching almost all of the first team dying of the beach did not include her, which begs the question: was she part of the problem with the first suicide squad movie? Anyways Gunn has a gift for working with obscure comic book characters and it really shows here, it's just unfortunate that DC most likely won't learn from this and will likely just keep making the same mediocre to just bad movies. Without a doubt, Gunn has gotten carried away in this film, which is why it ended up being a very cohesive project, totally recommended.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Literally most of what was in the movie was in the trailers like all the one liners, gags, etc. You always hear people say, “I feel like they gave away the entire movie in the trailers,” ex. BVS! That’s what happened here yet no ones saying that for this movie; hmm. The story was predictable, and movie was a 6/10 maybe, it was okay but not what everyone’s making it out to be like this absolutely great movie! Also Rat catcher 2 was such a useless character; polkadot man was better and look what happened. Cena as peace maker was entertaining, so let’s see how his show is. Expand

That Suicide Squad was really more interesting. The story has it's good moments. In particular Harley Quinn was used correctly. More humour and the charisma of Cena/Elba on top of that. The film was a bit long at times.

Crass, noisy, violent but an utterly fun & crazy ride. While the key characters are a bizarre bunch of misfits and degenerates, James Gunn does a fantastic job of making them somehow endearing.
