But, alas, we had to be exposed to the over acting of Cavill (Solo), and the rotten Russian accents of Hammer (Kuryakin) and others. I was a fan of the U.N.C.L.E. series back in the day, and loved the 8 cool movies that spawned from it. Where was the slow-motion chase scenes? Where was the T.H.R.U.S.H. criminal organization? And where were the assassins with their infra-red sniper rifles? My advice is go rent the original movies (i.e. The Karate killers, The Helicopter Spies etc.), only then will you truly realize what you missed. And as a final note, Hugh Grant only added to this movie's boredom. There could have been a franchise here, but thanks to Guy Ritchey, there won't be! Expand

Unconvincing character relationships underscoring a boring plot, plastic acting, terrible soundtrack and unbelievably historically inaccurate tech makes for a soul less movie that only wins on production quality thanks to a big budget. Going to this film was more effective than any sleeping pill I've tried yet. Before nodding off, it impressed me as nothing but just another amateurish, inconsistent and inchoate attempt at directing by Richie. He must have gotten a great settlement from Madonna because I can't imagine any studio would give him money to make movies anymore. It's too bad because Man From UNCLE was a great opportunity to revive and celebrate one of the greatest Action Spy franchises of the 60s. I mean, all Richie had to do was play the original UNCLE theme song - one of the most memorable ever - while running the opening credits. Even that would have gone a long way to winning me over since I actually wanted to like this movie. . At least that much would have been partially worth this utter waste of $20 on the tickets to see this bomb... But noooo. He even threw that overboard along with any pretenses to being able - or even interested in - delivering anything other than a total cartoonish mockery of the original UNCLE concept and, indeed, film making. in general. Frankly, I can't believe my eyes at some of the reviews fawning over this flagrant ripoff of the public. It's too bad there really isn't a real United Network Command For Law Enforcement to make Richie accountable for this crime. Expand

I have just wasted my time and money watching this film. I windeed why the cinema was empty and then realised why. If you have 2 hours to spare I recommend you use it doing something useful - like watching paint dry. A terrible film

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This re-make of the classic TV series is a abundant error in the making of cinematography of a popular TV hit.
The story line stretching to introduce or fill in the false character profile (Napoleon Solo has a black past and was lured in by CIA to work for them etc.,)
The most lacking is the original opening theme and musical score.
I recommend a re-make with all the original classic ingredient.

Disappointingly formulaic, highly predictable and lacks Ritchie's usual panache.
Its too long and the cast is surprisingly off, blame the script, not the actors.
