Dark in both look and tone, this entry offers up a few surprises for those who haven’t read the books. Top lined by the current ‘it’ girl, Jennifer Lawrence, who is so good in the role of Katniss Everdeen that it is nigh on impossible to imagine another actress in the part. It has to be said that performances of this stature are not usually on evidence in these kind of commercial blockbusters. It is to her credit that the films have succeeded in no small measure due to her commitment to them.
Having said that the film does start with a whimper rather than a bang. However, as soon as our vengeful troop head for the capitol, and specifically the Mansion of Coriolanus Snow, the bangs start in earnest and we find ourselves tensely partaking in the 76th Hunger Games. There is one gob smacking set piece involving a sea of black oil and another nail biting, beautifully photographed episode, down in the sewers where the group come under attack from mutants.
Ongoing delights include excellent production design and James Newton Howard’s lovely score. Costumes are toned down from the amazingly wacky designs of earlier instalments and it is left to Elizabeth Banks (this year’s clothes horse for eye catching garb. See her in ‘Love and Mercy’) to carry the day in this area. The late Phillip Seymour Hoffman appears too little effect, but no doubt judicious cutting has had to play a part.
The film does rather outstays its welcome by tacking on a couple of unnecessary codas that add absolutely nothing. Overall, though, the series has maintained a strong emotional hold throughout. This in itself is quite rare in many franchises being made today, and the movie should be applauded for that alone.

This is a thoroughly well crafted film, with beautiful cinematography, gripping storyline and sumptuous costumes. The tension is held with precision, and those who have read the books will not be disappointed with the manner in which the plot unfolds. The performances are excellent and it's one of the few times I can say I'm happy with the decision to split the narrative across two films, as this allowed the director to dedicate the appropriate time and detail to this much anticipated resolution, and I'm happy to say it was a beautifully executed finale that is both thrilling and satisfying in equal measure. 9.23/10 Expand

Katniss Everdeen and the others have finally come full circle.
I believe if they were to make more movies, most fans and other slightly curious observers would love to witness Haymitch Abernathy as he takes on 47 other tributes in his own game during the 2nd quarter quell.

Part 2 makes up for Part 1's lack of action by being the darkest, most violent and gritties Hunger Games film, even with the standards set by the previous films and succeeds in ending the saga in a suitably epic fashion. Mockingjay - Part 2 finds Katniss leading the rebels to the Capitol aiming to kill President Snow. The Gamemakers have rigged the entire city with lethal traps to make sport of their deaths, making it the most dangerous Hunger Games yet. If Part 1 was too slow or lacked adequate action, Part 2 is heart-pounding from beginning to end. The action scenes are more violent than anything seen in the series yet, making any deaths even more gut-wrenching. Fans of the series will find it hard to watch at times, and if you're like me, you'll be gripping your seat or hiding behind your shirt for a good portion of the film. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 ends one of the most exciting and relevant franchises today in a gripping, emotional and brutal way, and it might be the feel-bad movie of the year. Expand

Her true destiny was to liveThe Hunger Games book trilogy is one I could recommend to anyone, and as a fan of it, there was only one thing that left me unsatisfied: how Katniss ended up basically becoming a housewife with Peeta. Her true destiny was to live adventurously ever after with Gale *sob*. And I really thought this final installment would give Katniss the ending she deserves. All in all, however, this is a solid and complete final chapter for a franchise that has made young people learn about the idea of standing up for yourself and understand how the misuse of power can make for a corrupt, violent environment. As a fan of the books, I am left satisfied, if not for how they sticked with the book's ending. Also, having appreciated Francis Lawrence's previous adaptations, I didn't expect less. Jennifer Lawrence (who sometimes I overpraise) is purely magnetic as the Mockingjay and I don't think anyone else could've played her as wonderfully as she did. Conclusion: The Hunger Games ends its run somewhat similar to Harry Potter's in the way that it didn't compromise the authenticity of the literary works for commercial aspects. Franchises, after all, tend to be disgusting (Divergent, The Maze Runner, etc., etc.), so it's a glorious feeling that all fans will get to experience such an emotional yet genuine closure. Expand

Copy of letter to Amy Nicholson, who gave the film 100. I gave it 90. Hi Amy, I read you when you were in LAWeekly. Just saw fourth film. I have to go back to the first Matrix movie for so bold a new angle on heroism.

The normal treatment would have been a showdown between Coin and Katniss, where Coin reveals she, not Snow, bombed the children. This scene is missing altogether (thank god) and the possibility of Coin as the new villain is a tossed off line with little weight or credibility given to it. Then Katnis does what no hero ever does in film, she kills deliberately--and it works!

Not since Matrix 1 have the rules been broken so wonderfully, in my memory.

The end result is the fourth movie becomes a character study of Katnis. The film is impossible to imagine without the landscape of Jennifer's face; especially, if you compare it to the heroine of Divergent, etc, etc. You are right. It's her withholding of emotion and impulsiveness which we learn to love.

All in all quite a remarkable and creative achievement unlike most Hollywood fare. I've read none of the books. From a summary of Book three, it appears the movie sharpens the themes admirably.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I think this movie was incredibly well done. I also couldn't help but think that throughout the movie, this could relate to a Biblical worldview. In the previous movie, Peeta's mind is warped by president snow to change the way he views Katniss and in this final movie Katniss is trying so hard to change his mind and prove who she really is. This is what God is doing for His children. He is trying to show us who He really is by sending us His son and showing us continual and unending grace and love and compassion, just as Katniss did to Peeta. Expand

"Mockingjay - Part 2" breaks barriers prodigious bestseller, " Harry Potter " did it, "Twilight" did it, Why not use as bait to Katniss to torment the crazy fans once more ? Why not increase the capital of Lions Gate with Panem once more ?

Unfortunately , the exciting saga comes to an end , and the wise decision of dividing the last part in two films exalt its quality, tremendously. Lawrence is an undetectable be, her little expressiveness help in her role perfectly , no one knows what will do until it does . His ascension is great, since it was offered as tribute to become an idol of rebellion , really Lawrence is Katniss from head to toe.

Thanks to Gary Ross , Suzanne Collins and Francis Lawrence, the fearless story of rebellion , revenge , love and social order ( districts) between Katniss Everdeen and Coriolanus Snow, remain etched in the soul , heart and mind of each of the fans. You can not deny that thanks to the boom that caused The Hunger Games different sagas quite similar in the way of narrative , history and most linked to a social order which is then implemented by some tragic event for humanity were produced "The Maze Runner", "The Giver", "Divergent".

The first "The Hunger Games" disappointed in its development with respect to the book, for rampant deaths but as the saga arose its quality increased to the beautiful " Mockingjay — Part 2 ".Wisely, Lawrence has made her war in Capitol and also with other interpretations , and because this is pointed his bow at the prestigious awards Oscars. Jennifer should be happy about the outcome, made too much money and fame with the hit , but also made its way to several nominations .

The stars of the film are shown briefly giving us just a little of all the delight of each character, The abbreviated presence of Hoffman, who died in 2014 of an accidental overdose, is heartbreaking. Tucci appears all-too briefly as unctuous television announcer Caesar Flickerman. Elizabeth Banks shows up in a couple of her typically outrageous outfits as stylist and social climber Effie Trinket, and that’s about it.

Katniss goes seriously this time , and once and for all she takes her role as ever, mixing his extreme courage and vulnerability to his worst enemy and put an end once and for all all suffering districts

The relations of the girl on fire lit, and would have to choose which of the two suitors would stay and prove to herself that love is "real or false".

This release has the best action sequences of the entire series, bringing us a lot of oil to a mine field with millions of traps with a single purpose "Kill Katniss" The road since the district until Snow's mansion is a perfect and dangerous journey that will slowly killing each of the characters , wounding our hearts more and more ( journey through the sewers).

The dramatic part of the movie does drop a tear to everyone deaths , betrayals, murders , monsters , mines , fire , destruction , are the causes.

A true end of the movie was fantastic trilogy by Suzanne and a real fairy tale ending of the movie by Francis Lawrence.
Do you know, why this is the perfect movie? It has each of the genres of the film world drama , action , adventure, science fiction, horror, suspense, thriller and even a little comedy but more importantly, the story unfolds to perfection leaving the name of The Hunger Games at the top.

Definitely better end could never have it.

Since the first words of the movie : You can say your name , Katniss, Until the last words of the film: There are many worse games. It is beautiful and totally entertaining.

The movie that everyone wants has arrived and is called:

What I like most about The Hunger Games is that it represents what our world is currently going through, how society is falling apart, and how much conflict and war there is in this world. The series is sends out a message towards everyone that no matter who you are or where you came from, the courage of one can change the world. I felt that this movie didn't need to be split into two parts but who cares to be honest. I recommend this movie to everyone who likes action and suspense. Much unlike the first part of the 'mocknigjay' it was full of action and suspense. As her and her closest friends and allies go to the Capitol to defeat the Autocratic President Snow they lose many main characters which are vital to the storyline. The 'pods' or minefield traps are great. Mutts, bubbling tar, machine guns, underground zombies, bombs, and armies of peacekeepers threaten them along the way. The first half an hour or so of the movie is going to district two to
persuade the people to join the rebels and fight against the capitol. It slowly gets better and although some scenes are sad and upsetting overall it is great The rating is PG-13 but should be pg. It is full of great messages about war and post Apocalyptic worlds. I would give this a ten out of ten and is definitely the best of the Hunger games series.
NEGATIVES

the Peeta Gale and Katniss situation is quite boring

The conclusion is dark, shocking, and all around riveting for fans. The series has always been grim, but I honestly think this might be the most brutal of the series. Not from an action standpoint, but from the themes on display.

Corruption, PTSD, heartbreak, and loss are all key elements of this tale and have been from the beginning. However amongst all of the moral grays and blacks of the conflict, there's also a ray of hope. The hope that things might just have a happy(ish) ending and that these characters might finally find some peace. We say goodbye to a lot of familiar faces along the way, but it's worth seeing things through to the end.

The high-quality of the series is still in place. As are all of the elements you either loved or hated in the previous movies. It's not always the happiest of conclusions, but it is a satisfying one. If you are a fan then don't expect to be let down. If you aren't a fan, then why are you even reading up on it?

Mockingjay - Part 2 gave the series the closure fans long desired and did a great job of delivering the goods people have come to expect from the franchise. Of course, Jennifer Lawrence was once again breathtaking. Her ability to deliver such a wide range of emotions and characters separate her from most of Hollywood. What has made this franchise unique, however, is how the rest of the cast consistently matches her performance, and at times seems to even surpass her. It only took the fourth and final movie but Josh Hutcherson finally felt like Peeta Mellark. His performance in this film will surely be underrated as the franchise will get catalogued with the rest of the teen girl franchises of this generation and that's a shame because he shined. Liam Hemsworth and the rest of the supporting cast also carried their weight. The visuals were also fantastic as the continued "coming to life" of the book was a joy to see. The only real negatives with this particular movie are largely tied to the first one. Because this is essentially the second half of an incredibly long film, it felt lacking in plot development. I also thought the director failed to capture what might be the most critical scene in the entire book series. It was still in the film but it was lost a bit in the chaos. Schindler's List comes to mind in how it was able to convey such strong emotions with such simple visuals. I also feel that a similar cinematic effect should've been used at the end to truly capture Katniss' emotions as that key event unfolded. Overall though, I think this franchise will be best suited for marathoning. Expand

II watch a lot of movies and I also read a lot of books. Far and away my favorite book series is The Hunger Games, and I've always appreciated the fact that the films have been nearly identical page for page representations of the books. I also love how the cast has always fit into their roles as if they were written just for them. People who never read the books, assume that all four movies are about this strange war game, and they couldn't be more wrong. The games are just a part of the story and are what ultimately spark the people to rebel against an oppressive government. What the Hunger Games is really about, is pushing your limits to become something more than you ever thought possible. In the spectacular finally of the series, the Civil War is on and it will take a dangerous mission into the capital to bring it to an end. Part 2, is just as exciting and well done as the other films with one exception, and that's why it's the only one of the four films to receive less than a perfect rating. Mockingjay was only one book, but they split it in two for the sake of making more money from another film. While this was a good idea to the film company, the fact is that there wasn't enough substance left for the final movie. Some scenes were rushed, while others moved to slow, and for the first time, whole sections, such as Katniss's training and newly formed bond with Joanne, were completely removed. While the film was excellent, I feel as though it was somewhat rushed and that the continuity was not as solid as it had been in previous films. That being said, it's still an epic conclusion and if you aren't already aware of the ending, you'll certainly be shocked and surprised by what happens, so while it's not the best of the four films, it's still well worth your time. A faithful adaptation of the book, mockingjay pt2 can be very divisive and lead to polarizing opinions.
It is the story of Katniss, the girl who has sworn revenge to the oppressive Tyrant for having destroyed her life.
It is a story of 2 opposing political factions, who use tv and propaganda to spread consensus.
We, as the audience, see the world through Katniss' eyes, and we feel the struggle and get confused understanding if the girl of fire actually exists or it is just a perfect marketing product.
The key word here is "live-tv show", while in the earlier installments war, pain and death were seen as a "cruel reality show", here the struggle is real, the audience is experiencing loss and deprivation on their own skin and not through camera lens.
Action set pieces are great not because of the spectacle, but because of the emotional burden they carry.
We feel every loss, we hold our breath at every step because danger might be near.
Dialogue is intense too, of course the best lines are delivered when President Snow and Katniss have a lovely chat.
Action and dialogue lead to a very intense climax where every actor shines.
The ending has seen as disappointing because it doesn't feel rewarding.
My personal view is that the ending is good the way it is, it deals with the aftermath of war, how it affects you when your life goes back to normal.
In the end, this is a movie for both fans of the book and newcomers, you will either love it or hate it, but I doubt it will leave the audience indifferent.

The thing that i liked about Mockingjay part 2 was the character developments and performances, Jennifer Lawrence was great as always giving a great performance as Katniss, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth were good also, plus the dark tone works so well.Speaking of character development some character arcs were disappointing and unnecessary at times like characters like Primrose,Finnick and President Snow who ended up being a disappointing villain(with a subplot that you could care less about.).Mockingjay part 2 also had a slow pace throughout the film which was both good and bad(good for character development and bad for kick-starting some things). The first and second act was also good with some interesting action backed up with some COOL deathtraps and again some character arcs(despite some weird zombie-like creatures to kill our favourite characters). The Last act of the movie was rather slow and a bit disappointing, but ended up tying up the movie pretty nice. Despite some sketchy and WTF moments, slow pacing,Mockingjay part 2 was a good movie, not really epic but satisfying. Expand

I liked this movie a lot until the last act. I think in the last 45 minutes of the movie, the movie had no direction and completely fell apart. But before then, Mockingjay Part 2 was a good way to wrap up the franchise, and had plenty of good action.

Great acting pieces as always, especially from Jennifer Lawrence, who is pretty much perfect with very moving moments. You are left confused and jaw-dropped as events unfold. But also, from the rest of the cast. Josh as Peta has been fantastic too, and all the veterans who added quality to the films were good as always. What a great cast. I had never read the books and was never interested in this until Catching Fire hit theaters, so I was totally impressed with the final happenings. It´s true the epilogue seems a little out of place, but after so many strong events I understand they wanted to close it all with a positive message. Very entertaining with both great action scene and shockingly realistic war developments and more quiet pieces to let every actor shine. Top 3 blockbuster of the year along with Mad max (first) and The Martian. Expand

The pacing is pretty ragged with lots of starts and stops, and it could have built to a bigger climactic action scene... But this is still a very good movie, ranking as one of the best franchise enders ever. The action is the most intense and well realized of any Hunger Games movie, the story is smart and takes risks most mainstream movies wouldn't dare to do, at points making even Nolan look like he cops out when things are getting too dark, and it concludes on a satisfyingly poignant note. Sure, it does suffer from Return of the King's 10 endings syndrome, but if that's the worst you can say about a movie with this much to offer then you're just nitpicking. Mockingjay Part 2 secures The Hunger Games as the YA franchise king, and I doubt it will be surpassed by any other YA series soon, if ever. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I finally saw The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 and I wasn't disappointed. As someone who hasn't read the books but tends to like action movies and is a Jennifer Lawrence fan the movie was definitely worth seeing; and quite frankly was one of the better films of 2015. Although it is Lawrence's movie the ensemble is great ( Donald Sutherland, Julianne Moore, and Sam Claflin were all terrific; and though I was disappointed in how brief they were in the movie Woody Harrelson, Jena Malone and Elizabeth Banks also deserve kudos for doing the most with what they were given). It was nice to see Liam Hensworth grow throughout the film series. Josh Hutcherson gave a standout performance at the end of Mockingjay Part 1 and throughout Part 2. I also enjoyed Natalie Dormer's Cressida and Willow Shields' Prim, who was Katniss' heart from the beginning of the first film. There was something that should have been added. I would have liked to have seen the explanation in the movie as to why Joanna wasn't in combat with the rest of the gang. Joanna's meltdown during combat training would have been worth seeing. I was also bummed seeing Finnick's end; but at least he went out in dramatic fashion. I like Peeta. I like Gale, but I am a Finnick girl. I do predict bigger things coming Sam Claflin's way. Jennifer Lawrence did not fail to disappoint. I have seen some just decent action movies in my time. This was a really good one. Expand

Okay let's be real here , Mocking Jay should not have been 2 part , it's just one book and now they separate it to make more money but damn it's for sure hurt the movie , part 1 was a disaster it's just so boring where nothing really happenOkay let's be real here , Mocking Jay should not have been 2 part , it's just one book and now they separate it to make more money but damn it's for sure hurt the movie , part 1 was a disaster it's just so boring where nothing really happen that drags on and on , So the real question is will Part 2 deliver what Part 1 cannot ? Well the answer is kind a yes.

The Hunger Games: Mocking Jay Part 2 is the final conclusion of the hunger games franchise that pretty successful , it's neither satisfied or unsatisfied conclusion it's not a bad movie but it's not that good either.

The most memorable thing from this movie probably is the action scene where things really get intense and ugly that's when the mocking jay and honestly the hunger games shines the most , when the situation start to goes down to all character we know and love the felling that some of them might not make it just makes the audience chills.

The problem is these kind of exciting thrilling and engaged moment are just few and far between and there's come the problem of Mocking Jay Part 2.

The storytelling of director Francis Lawrence is just too cliche , predictable and by the books combine that will super slow pacing makes Mocking Jay Part 2 outside of the action scene kind a boring and nothing really happen.

I must give credit to the writer though since the screenplay is actually pretty and Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss is still a great performance we expected , so in the end the movie still give us something to think but it's just not as powerful as it should be.

Overall Mocking Jay Part 2 is an okay conclusion of The Hunger Games Franchise it has it's peak moment where everything seems to be exciting and engaging but a lot of it's moment is just so plain and too predictable because of it's director storytelling yet this is still a movie that should be in Hollywood history book.

The entire film is expected to be rushing and full of actions between the rebels and the Capitol but it still ends up at a slow pacing and lacks of glorious actions, most likely due to the attempt to stick to the original story in the novel. The plot focuses a lot on Katniss, Gale and Peeta which allow them to perform well while the attention on the political acts and propaganda-making have wiped most of the screen time, leading the weaker character developments of the supporting cast, less emotional impacts and poor progression of romance. Musics by James Newton Howard is beautiful as he utilises the same theme from Part I and manage to lift up some impressive moments of the draggy ending while the visuals are spectacularly shot especially during the climax. In short, Mockingjay is the weakest entry among the series due to the greedy mistake to split but the effort in its political twist has brought this finale a lot more outstanding compared to other young adult genre which waste a lot of time solely on romance. To be clear, the film is entertaining, and fans of the previous films will surely be happy, but just know the franchise clearly peaked with Catching Fire. The Franchise has since bloated it’s final film for no other good reason, than to make extra money. All-in-all Mockingjay Part 2 is action packed, often entertaining, but falls victim to a somewhat weak script.
Mockingjay Part 2 gives us what Mockingjay Part 1 didn’t, more action. Mockingjay Part 2 reverts back to the formula that made Catching Fire so great, while continuing the story of Mockingjay Part 1. By that I mean that the film gives fans a good mix of entertaining action sequences mixed with romance. However, at this point the romantic triangle feels so forced it’s more of a distraction, than a sub-plot.
The action helps make the film entertaining, but what really makes the film is Jennifer Lawrence’s commitment to anchoring the films. At the this point Lawrence has made Katniss Everdeen an extension of herself, to the point that she embodies the character. The grim tone, mixed with the meandering story make Mockingjay Part 2 entertaining from start to finish. However, the film does contain some major weaknesses, especially in it’s script.
While the story is full of twists and turns, it’s still a little to bloated, as it would have been better if the studio had just made Mockingjay into 1 movie. The dialogue, is inconsistent and often too on-the-nose, with characters delivering out of place exposition. While the story has a very good plot twist near the end of the film, it doesn’t handle it well, as the story just jumps all over the place in the end. The film also offered very little new substance to the franchise, in the end it would have been a great finale to a singular film.
Through all of it’s issues, Mockingjay Part 2 helps the franchise come to a satisfying end. Mockingjay Part 2 improves on what Mockingjay Part 1 did, and is probably the better film, but still isn’t as good as Catching Fire. The film is thoroughly entertaining, and is full of action despite it’s script’s weaknesses. In the end Mockingjay Part 2 is a good way to spend 2 hours, and is a good ending for the Hunger Games franchise.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Though a bit slow in the beginning, Mockingjay - Part 2 is a fantastic film that is both very emotional as well as very impressive special effects wise. There's great acting from across the board with standout performances from Josh Hutcherson and Jennifer Lawrence. The final installment in The Hunger Games franchise manages to be scarier than most horror movies that we're surrounded by throughout the year, which while by no means surprising, is definitely a mark of great directing skills.

Mockingjay - Part 2 manages to surpass its book counterpart with its more uplifting and pleasing third act. The book's ending felt depressing and rushed, but the film's version is much better, despite having the same premise. My only small gripe with this film is that some characters weren't as featured as much as they could've been. Finnick and Prim (the latter more so) were barely in the movie, despite their deaths an essential part of the story. Don't get me wrong, the deaths of those two characters were still emotional, but they would've been EVEN MORE emotional if they were featured more. Plutarch also could've been in the film more, but because of the saddening death of Phillip Seymour Hoffman, not much could've been done about that.

Overall, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 is a fitting and spectacular end to the Hunger Games saga. I couldn't've asked for a better book adaption than the one we've got.

Particularly after Mockingjay Part 1, the choice to split the final act into two films looked to see the saga search for quantity over quality. Despite this, the second instalment is the much better of the two as the film increases the stakes, deepens the development of the characters, and provides heart-wrenching and pulsating action sequences. The film at its best, is brilliant, the issue is its ability to maintain this quality throughout. Whilst taking a more personal path in the attack on the capital is no fault, the film lacks in scope and had potential to provide a much more epic finale. This more personal route makes for an overwhelming amount of dialogue scenes, scenes that at times seemed to convey the same message as the one before it. Whilst Mockingjay Part 2 is a satisfying end to the series, the final act, which would have served better as a single film, had potential for something far greater. Expand

Its movie does not make us disappointed because the ending was still good which the main character, Katniss killed Coin who wanted to hold Hunger Games again and killed a lot of innocent people included Prim, her sister. Coin was very selfish and even more cruel than Snow as she could do everything including killing people in order to be the president of Capitol. The action was intense and the acting was excellent. However like any movie it has flaws. The pacing was off. In some scenes it was slow and in one major scene everything went by so fast I could not comprehend it for example a character appears in a scene and is killed before you have time to think.

They also spent some time introducing characters that never made an impact other than being a redshirt and getting killed off.

I will not go into Seymour Hoffman's character being different in the movie because the actor did pass away during filming which is very sad since he did so well.

Overall I liked it. Some scenes had my heart racing and actors performances was excellent. Overall I could not give it over a 7 due to the flaws with pacing. But I heard that the movie was originally almost 3 hours so I hope they release an uncut version which could fix that.

Everything is as-expected for the most part and that's part of the problem with this final film - you see nearly everything coming instead of being left on your heels with every swing the movie takes at you. I enjoyed the political musical chairs aspect and how things that seem good could be bad and vice versa. Donald Sutherland again shines as President Snow but his role is always a bit gated in these movies despite being the main villain. Perhaps my biggest complaint is that, after all of this build up to an assault on the capital, the fight ends somewhat abruptly and without a lot of "oomph", even though there's a couple surprises in those moments. The time taken on the aftermath is both warranted and a bit drawn out, as if the movie's creators and overseers didn't know how quite to end things on the big screen. They try to sort everything out when not every little detail must be sorted (or at least with as much emphasis). Still, Mockingjay Part 2 rallies after its first part clearly cut back on the suspense created by the fantastic Catching Fire. If you've watched all the other movies don't stop before the story is over because, even if this movie isn't quite what I had hoped it would be, it's still a good film and a good-enough send-off for the series as a whole. Great way to finish off the Hunger Games series. Exciting and leaves you wanting more. This has a good bit of action but just wish there was a little more. Solid ending to a very good series.

This review is for the entire series (4 movies total)...

Unbelievable! Hunger Games exceeded every expectation of mine entering the series. It was not a mere sci-fi thriller, it was a classic. Damn it I'm getting Game of Thrones like vibes here! I will name 4 words for each movie in the series: Shock, Awe, Anger, Revenge. Hunger Games depicts a dystopian reality that holds true even today, in the real world: Freedom is, well, not in anyway free at all. It comes at a price. We forget the price paid so that I can write this review freely, in my own opinion, without any second thoughts. Just being ourselves, is something not to be taken for granted. 'Cause human nature, as depicted in the series so well, is full of good and bad surprises. It takes just one mad man on top of the food chain to make it all go sour. Are we all players in a well-organized "Hunger Game"? What do we have to do to stay alive and survive? To bring bread to our homes? To feel some sense of freedom to do whatever we want? To take back more than we give to those who are in control of our chains? These are the questions humanity needs to answer, and Hunger Games boldly asks these questions. It is reminding us that we are in the process of forgetting what peace is, what war means and what sacrifices were made to give us "this"...

And she saw the "same old, same old" and did something about it. Wow, look out Hillary! This 4 parter was drawn out and there have been a couple of other trilogies in the theaters since the first movie. Definitely over saturated. The "Divergent" trilogy is not doing big bucks in release now; I'm amazed no one comes out and says come up with a new idea for a movie. Same old, same old. Expand

Katniss Everdeen: "Tonight, turn your weapons to the Capitol!".

The story in Mockingjay Part 2 is Katniss fully embracing her role as the face of the district revolution in the "Mockingjay" she leads an all-out assault on the capital to bring down President Snow and his autocratic rule once and for all.

After the dull filler that was Mockingjay Part 1, I mean splitting movies into two parts isn't a great idea with some book adaption movies that don't need it, because the books themselves were not long and flowed together nicely. And yes Harry Potter did the splitting movies into two because well, the book itself was freaking huge, so huge that a little toddler can reach the top shelf by standing on the freaking book. It's completely pointless and now every book adaptation movie is doing it just to cash in more money.

I didn't like Mockingjay Part 1 that much. Nothing interesting was developed in that movie and part 1 was nothing but a set up to the next movie, which you should never do, because when you do a marathon of all of the movies, part 1 is the one that you want to skip. That's what Part 1 was 'a set up' and it doesn't stand on it's own as film (In my opinion). But all that a side, I sawed Mockingjay Part 2 a few days ago and it wasn't that great. It was way better than Part 1 when comes to something happening, but that's not saying much, because while I was watching the movie I had the same uneasy feel that Part 1 gave me and not in a good way. It isn't a bad movie, but it wasn't great.

The one major positive that I can give that was all throughout The Hunger Games franchise was Jennifer Lawrence. She has so much to do here and really makes her character shine in this movie. She once again dose a great performance that wasn't over acting or being too dramatic, but it was simple and locked down. She was without a doubt the best part of this movie.

This is a very dark and grim movie with no comic relief from the other characters, and these no messing around here and that element in the movie dose work...sometimes. These many scenes in this movie that was overly sad and so dramatic, to the point that I said to myself "Oh my lord, this movie is so miserable and grim". I know a finale like this isn't going to end quietly and it worked sometimes, but sometimes it overly did it.

This is Philip Seymour Hoffman's last movie and I think the movie did justice for his character in a respectful way due to the actors passing. I know it was hard for the cast to deal with Hoffman's death, since he's character had a major scene in this movie that he never got a chance to film due to his death. I thought the movie did great job of working around it respectfully. R.I.P Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Now for the problems: The first half of this movie and the last is so freaking slow with it's pacing, to the point that it was basically killing the spirit of this movie with the lack of energy. The movie never made me feel like the stakes were high as it felt too easy. There was never a moment that made me feel like I was on the edge of my seat or biting my nails worried for what's going, because as I said before the stakes never felt high to me. That's really disappointing and I had so much high hopes for this movie to be an intense finale with a satisfying ending...well I got some of that, but not the satisfying or intense part.

Was the ending satisfying? well, it was fine ending, but not the best as the movie didn't know how to end. The endings were dragged out.

Overall Mockingjay Part 2 will satisfy some fans of the franchise. I do think it's better Part 1 as I felt like a lot of things were happening. Unfortunately this movie dose have the same problems that Part 1 had with it's pacing and it's lack of energy. I didn't think this movie was great and I know for a fact that five years from now I will completely forget about this movie.

It is the fourth and final installment in The Hunger Games film series, and the second of two films based on the novel Mockingjay, the final book in The Hunger Games trilogy, by Suzanne Collins. Produced by Nina Jacobson and Jon Kilik, and distributed by Lionsgate, the film features an ensemble cast that includes Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Julianne Moore, Philip Seymour Hoffman (in his final film role), and Donald Sutherland. Principal photography on both parts of the film began on September 23, 2013 in Atlanta, before moving to Paris for two weeks of back-to-back filming and officially concluding on June 20, 2014, in Berlin and at Babelsberg Studios, Germany.

-The story continues from The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, with Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence), as she prepares to win the war against President Snow (Donald Sutherland) and the tyrannical Capitol. Together with Peeta, Gale, Finnick, and others, she travels to the Capitol to kill Snow. However, President Coin (Julianne Moore), the leader of District 13 and the rebellion, hides a bigger agenda that could not only jeopardize Katniss' life, but the future of Panem.

-Part 2 was positively received by critics for its performances, screenplay, and action sequences, though it was criticized for splitting the final adaptation into two separate parts. The film had garnered a nomination for Best Fantasy Film at the 42nd Saturn Awards. For her part, Lawrence was awarded as the Favorite Movie Actress at the 2016 Kids' Choice Awards and Best Hero at the 2016 MTV Movie Awards.

--Critical response:

-The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 has received generally positive reviews from critics, with praise aimed at the action sequences and cast performance (mainly Lawrence's, as well as Malone and Hutcherson's) and criticism aimed at the makers splitting the source material for two separate adaptations. Many critics, however, found the film a satisfying conclusion to the Hunger Games series. On review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, the film has an approval rating of 70%, based on 235 reviews, with an average rating of 6.5/10. The site's consensus reads: "With the unflinchingly grim Mockingjay Part 2, The Hunger Games comes to an exciting, poignant, and overall satisfying conclusion." On Metacritic, the film has a weighted average score of 65 out of 100, based on 44 critics, indicating "generally favorable reviews". Audiences polled by CinemaScore gave the film an average grade of "A–" on an A+ to F scale.

And that may not even be the movies fault, it may just be because of the story of the final book. The fact the third book didn't have a traditional arena like the first two is the main thing that lost some of my interest. Still a great watch though. Expand
