This movie has got packaged with drama, action, entertainment. May be more action than drama. Christian Bale has done exceptionally well as Bruce Wayne.

A film that could solve all the problems of the previous two films and turn this trilogy into a happy memory. But it turned it into the most bitter sequel that could be made and left a lot of questions.
For example, we see Bruce paralyzed inA film that could solve all the problems of the previous two films and turn this trilogy into a happy memory. But it turned it into the most bitter sequel that could be made and left a lot of questions.
For example, we see Bruce paralyzed in the movie, but with the help of some gadgets, he was able to stand up again! And this issue continues to be forgotten and not addressed at all.
Now, the movie doesn't learn from its two biggest faults in the previous movie and makes them more severe! That is, we witness that there was no Bruce for 8 years!!! So what did you do during this time with the common thieves that I mentioned in the previous review?
The rush of the movie to show zero to the hero's loss is over. What does that mean? It means that Bruce has not been around for 8 years and now he has returned with the help of some gadgets to do his duty (which he has not done in these 8 years). He turns and loses his property. When he fights against that threat, he breaks his back and is imprisoned. He finds a doctor to fix his back and comes back and defeats Bane and apparently dies!!! The volume of the story is over for one episode to the detriment of the film.
The new character of the movie, John Blake, is not bad. I'll correct it: he's very good, but there's a problem: first, he knew at a glance that Bruce is Batman, and no other explanation was given! Second, at the end of the movie, we find out that he's the same Robin! Well, first of all, all 5 Robins In the world of comics, they are children. Second, if they make a mistake, they are either crude or childish. You are a policeman and have a house for yourself!!! And Bruce, even though he knew this, gave him the key to Batman's cave. And this means curd!!!
Unlike the first movie, where we had a great twist from Ra's Al Ghul, here the case of his daughter is narrated in the worst way: Bane is an evil person who is stronger than Batman in every way and banishes her to a dungeon and it seems that she is the same child who Jumped out of the dungeon. This means that he is Ras Al Ghul's child and his destiny, and this is a good thing. But we understand that Miranda Tate, who does not have a correct background and is not understandable, is the same Ras Al Ghul's child. In this way, Bane's motivation for evil is ruined and the villain of the story is dragged into the mud. .
However, the acting of the actors, the action sequence and loyalty in the film are shown in the best way. But it is a pity that the script is full of holes and closes the case of this trilogy...… Expand

But isn't without its story pitfalls, more of storytelling pitfalls. the story and premise is intriguing , but how Nolan unfolds its events felt a bit little-too-late and expected. the football scene, bane breaking batman's bat all felt too convenient instead of emotionally surprising. And would've kept you on the edge of your seat. the films ganache and intensity is moreso what keeps you engaged. There's a thunderousness to the sound and breath of the movie thats powerful to watch. But i didn't feel how the story unfolded was its best presentation. Borderline a 7.5. How they unleash black gate and Gotham. it just felt in-the-motions and expected. And annoying, as BAne's voice became overused. To right its 'wrongs' the movie has a phenomenal finish. it's last 5-10 minutes ring as some of the best moments in all the dark knight trilogy. in the overall nolan pathos, puts a phenomenal stamp on his legacy and rounds things out perfectly. But the movie isn't without some pitfalls throughout. Still an epic among epics and is one of the most bombastic , satisfying final chapters to a trilogy you'll see. This has always been a five star film for me, but there were just a few moments this time around that made me knock half a star off.

Don't get me wrong, I still adore this film. I love the opening scene on the plane. Then all the way to the end and the nod and the new Dark Knight rising.

But, a few things elsewhere had me drop that half star.

Michael Caine is outstanding here. It's probably his best performance in the trilogy.

Hathaway and Cotillard are great additions too and the flip from Bane to Talia is still so well handled.

Hardy as Bane is phenomenal. The fight scene in the sewers with absolutely zero score is so well handled.

Nolan definitely watched this a few years ago and thought, I need to make that atomic bomb actually happen … Expand

Who would’ve thought that Nolan would top The Dark Knight! In my opinion this is easily the best one of the trilogy! We don’t get that much Batman but more of Bruce Wayne. Remember when Peter Parker was struggling with his powers in SpiderWho would’ve thought that Nolan would top The Dark Knight! In my opinion this is easily the best one of the trilogy! Tom Hardy as Bane is definitely the best part of the movie! Joseph Gordon Levitt gets some time to shine as well his character was great! I still get a lot of goosebumps throughout the movie because theres moments in here that are so beautiful! The Dark Knight trilogy is one of the best franchises of all time! All 3 films are so amazing it’s so hard to rank them! Nolan gave us an amazing finale to The Dark Knight trilogy! Call me a Nolan fanboy if you want but I will forever defend his movies! Hans Zimmers score is again amazing! The supporting cast is spectacular alongside Anne Hathaway! The Dark Knight Rises is a flawless film! Where Begins grasps me emotionally on a primal level, and TDK moved me into shock and awe, Rises blends both of those worlds together, but also blends into this feeling of euphoria, like this is what I’ve been waiting for my whole life. A legend who’s marked his place in history, risen out of the darkness (mentally & psychically), and become a symbol of hope for all of those who are still searching for the light. A coda much deserving of any and all praise. And the entire finale nearly had some tears flowing this time, especially with Alfred standing over Bruce’s grave. I’m rambling over-mentioned **** at this point and I’ve been up all night but yea, this is one of the greatest films ever made… Expand

this movie was worth every cent of the 250 million dollar budget. the visuals were absolutely goegeous, bane’s soliloquy was so powerful, the score (throughout the whole trilogy) was impeccable, and the ending was perfect.

One of the best masterpiece to watch.
From the starting, the movie grips the viewer. I loved Batman's character development and that he finally finds some kind of closure in life. Action scenes of Batwomen were definitely awesome. And I likeOne of the best masterpiece to watch.
From the starting, the movie grips the viewer. I loved Batman's character development and that he finally finds some kind of closure in life. Action scenes of Batwomen were definitely awesome. And I like that the movie put spotlight on multiple characters and not just the hero. The acting done by multiple characters in this movie is top-notch. I also enjoyed the addition of Robin in the film too.
The 2 villains obviously are great and their backstory somewhat makes you want to root for them too. Both the villian and hero fights the same battles spiritually and mentally in the movie, still it ends up clearly portraying the difference between the making of a villian and a hero.
Plot twists, cinematography, the score in the movie all are done terrifically.
It just got a kind of uplifting vibe to it, irrespective of the darker colors and lightening chosen for the film. I love that. The movie got great quotes :

But no ordinary child. A child born in hell. Forged from the suffering. Hardened by pain.Not a man from privilege.
This too:

A hero can be anyone. Even a man doing something as simple and reassuring, as putting a coat around a young boy's shoulders to let him know, the world hadn't ended.

How can you move faster than possible, fight longer than possible, without the most powerful impulse of the spirit?

What makes me enjoying this the most out of the trilogy is the inclusion of what I missed in its predecessors despite having a love for them as well, which were Batman Begins’ (2005) mediocre third act, and The Dark Knight’s (2008) lack of emotional engagement. This movie had it all. I love the second movie, and I think it’s slightly better than the first movie, but I’m glad The Dark Knight Rises finished what Batman Begins started.

It was a pure joy to watch from start to finish, but speaking of the third act in the first movie, the third act in The Dark Knight Rises was perfect, I think. It was epic and exciting with a lot of cool action, but also with a twist, where it ends with a tragedy; Batman’s death. Batman’s line “A hero can be anyone. Even a man doing something as simple and reassuring as putting a coat around a young boy's shoulders to let him know that the world hadn't ended.” gets me every time. It’s the foundation of Batman’s symbol, and it’s all about taking the initiative to make a change for the better. Batman Begins was about a hero being born based on fear, but The Dark Knight Rises was about rising after the fall, which is thanks to Bruce’s father Thomas Wayne. This movie was an emotional ride, and what I found most emotional was Alfred Pennyworth crying by the Waynes’ grave, but also the public, memorial statements about Batman with the beautiful soundtrack in background by composer Hans Zimmer. It felt so heavy to think about the loss of Batman and his sacrifice for Gotham after many years work. Batman was a hero, but also more than a hero. He was a symbol of hope during the darkest times to all kinds of people until the light shined again. Bane’s task was to destroy Gotham without exception and hesitation with the use of pure terror, and he terrified in every way. I think Joker was the most interesting villain in the trilogy, mainly because of his psychology. However, he was brutal, but Bane was brutal on another level. Joker preferred to surprise people with his actions based on his sneaky ideas, but Bane preferred to force people to watch and feel every detail of his actions from start to finish no matter how terrorizing they were. You could actually count how many times he broke a neck, and he even killed his own men without hesitation to get what he wanted. Just his look was terrifying enough. I had mixed thoughts about his voice, but it was very peculiar, which made him even scarier. You recognized him as soon as you heard his voice. The choreography of Bane’s fighting is one of the best ones I have ever seen. It was extremely brutal and fast, and his moves weren’t just regular movie moves. You could almost feel the pain of every single punch and kick by him.

The technical aspects made this movie cinematically epic. The general cinematography was my favorite technical element, but also the general sound and of course the soundtrack by Zimmer made this experience extremely enjoyable. The soundtrack in this one has a more terrorizing and brutal style compared to the beautiful and clean melody in the first movie, and the raw, electric guitar sound in The Dark Knight, which helped to make a perfect conclusion to the trilogy. In conclusion, this movie serves as a captivating finale where it expertly filled the elements that its predecessors lacked, such as Batman Begins' mediocre third act and The Dark Knight's lack of emotional depth. The third act in this movie is particularly remarkable, delivering epic action intertwined with a tragic twist—the death of Batman. This moment, coupled with Batman's profound words about heroism and hope, solidifies his legacy as a symbol of inspiration. Bane, portrayed as a brutal and terrifying antagonist, adds another layer of intensity to the movie. With its exceptional technical aspects, from cinematography to the haunting soundtrack by Zimmer, this movie concludes the trilogy on a truly epic note, leaving viewers both satisfied and moved… Expand

Characters are perfect without a doubt. Mystery, I liked the mystery I think that he mystery should have been a bit better. "We went for the historical epic, the disaster film," Nolan says.

After having overcome his fear in "Batman Begins," and defeated his biggest foe to date in "The Dark Knight," the stakes are ramped up for Bruce Wayne in "The Dark Knight Rises." Holed up for 8 years, Bruce is still reeling from Rachel's death. When Bane, a former member of the league of Shadows, makes his appearance, Bruce finds a reason to don the cowl and cape again. The film circles back to the League of Shadows, with Bane and Talia al Ghul setting out to fulfill Ra's al Ghul's destiny: destroy Gotham city.

Bruce's story arc is incredibly powerful as we see just how far he falls. Bane quite literally breaks his body and spirit, casting him into a pit with no way out and condemning him to helplessly watch his city be destroyed. The symbolism of climbing out of the pit, using the story of a child who escaped only because she jumped without a rope, is the defining moment in the trilogy for Bruce. He once again harnesses his fear and uses it as a tool to overcome his demons.

Another emotionally rewarding arc the film provides is that of Bruce and Alfred, the man who has known him for his entire life and stood by his side through it all. When first discussing the role with Michael Caine, Chris told him, "This is a character who is going to have the potential to steal the whole movie." He was absolutely right. Because Bruce and Alfred's relationship was built-up so well, "The Dark Knight Rises" features several moments that pay-off emotionally. Consider the scene where Alfred tells Bruce how he imagined seeing him while on holiday, desperate to know that he was safe. Or the heartbreaking scene where, in a bid to dissuade Bruce from going up against Bane, Alfred resigns, something which obviously pains him to do.

Also adding emotional weight to the film is the score by Hans Zimmer. In his Masterclass, the composer states it's the one film soundtrack he always wanted to make, and it's certainly an achievement. The motifs–from Catwoman, to Bane, to Bruce Wayne rising out of the pit–are all brilliant, textured to fit each character and theme.

In the 11 years since the trilogy concluded, I never considered "The Dark Knight Rises" my favorite of the bunch. After having rewatched the films back-to-back for the purposes of these reviews, I can safely say it is my favorite. It's the summation of all of the ideas and themes the previous films covered, and the completion of the arcs of its characters. The trilogy, undeniably influential and groundbreaking, was handled with an acute perception of the issues of humanity's past, present and future. Not simply a great "superhero" series, but great cinema. Period.… Expand

The scenes in the pit are fantastic because it really shows Bruce learning to become Batman again. Tom hardy as Bane is simply terrifying! My god I love this film! Wally Pfister‘s cinematography is very grandiose and epic, Han Zimmer’s score is absolutely amazing! Bane’s theme is extremely menacing as well as “Necessary Evil” being a highlight. Lee Smith‘s editing is very important in creating a sense of urgency and clarity. His use of cross cutting is so well done. This is my personal favourite of the trilogy because it really peels back the layers of Bruce as a person as well as showcasing Gotham as a character. Still a flawless masterpiece. 10/10.

The 4K HDR10 grade is mastered at 1399nits at it has a really nice yellowish hue to it. Highlights are very nice and pop well. Detail and shadow detail are nicely balanced. Black levels are again raised but that’s part of the film print.

The DTS MA 5.1 mix is flawless. Fronts are used so well, surrounds are used immersivly during action sequences and the LFE channel is once again booming… Expand

No superpowers, just his wits, combat training and gadgets! Everything in this movie is perfection. The whole Dark Knight trilogy is PERFECTION and it is one of my favourite trilogies of all time.

The cast is perfect in this movie. Everyone fit their role perfectly. The performances are incredible. The villains are so good. Tom Hardy as Bane, with that voice, it could not have been better. Anne Hathaway makes an excellent Catwoman as well.

The story focuses more on Bruce Wayne in this movie, like in Batman Begins. It is dark, emotional and well written. The fights are amazing as usual, especially when Bane is involved. I really liked the twist in the end with Miranda Tate, which I did not see coming! The reveal of Robin was epic as well and I would have loved a movie from Nolan about that.

The relationship between Bruce and Alfred in this movie is both heartwarming and heartbreaking. Very emotional. I also like the chemistry between Batman and Catwoman. Lucius Fox is great as usual. "And yes, Mr. Wayne, it does come in black."

This whole trilogy is truly a masterpiece. Every movie is good in its own way. What an epic conclusion to this trilogy. Batman got the ending he deserved. Well done Nolan! 10/10!… Expand

Finally have seen the ending to Christopher Nolan's epic, legacy-defining trilogy. TDKR is a mixture of both Batman Begins and The Dark Knight but in a grander way. Great music and impressive visuals (IMAX scenes were so so good) once again, too noteworthy to not mention. The new characters were all fantastic additions, from Catwoman, John Blake, and to Miranda Tate. Most specifically Tom Hardy's Bane, a very unique portrayal of one of Batman's iconic foes from the comic books.

Besides that, I think this solidifies Christian Bale as the definitive Bruce Wayne and Dark Knight. He took the role to another level in the entire series, almost like laying a standard for what Batman should be in cinema. Pattinson is my personal favorite, but Bale was born for this role and he showed why.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Having a more grounded Batman we got a way more grounded Bain. He's tough, fast and strong, but ultimately just another generic thug. This film also tries to dip into social issues between the have and have-nots and how villians could play on those issues and divide and/or even destroy us. The logistics of this movie don't add up. How can you feed, water and exercise people trapped underground for weeks, maybe months? How long does a broken back take to heal? Standard breaks are six weeks. I have got to say it was the most unsatisfying conclusion between Bats and Bane. The worlds greatest dectective? Far from it in this universe. This Bats is more of a meat head really.… Expand

Christopher Nolan delivers a more than satisfying conclusion to the trilogy. While the Dark Knight had a crime thriller tone, this films carries a grim, post-apocalyptic feel. While the Dark Knight had a crime thriller tone, this films carries a grim, post-apocalyptic feel. Still reeling from the events of the last movie, it's more of a slow burner, with the titular hero appearing for shorter periods of time. The hero ascends from the pits of despair, removing the physical embodiment of the symbol in order for the symbol of heroism to be solidified. After falling to crushing defeat and suffering, The Dark Knight indeed rises, out of the shadows, out of the silence, out of the depths of despair but a representation of sacrifice and good, allowing Gotham to be forever changed and Bruce Wayne to live.

The performances once again are top notch. Cristian Bale returns as an older, mentally and spiritually broken Bruce Wayne, who is in need of a revival. Gary Oldman, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman all slip back into their roles acting as more of elderly counsel, although it is rather odd that Alfred disappears for most of the film. As for the new editions, Tom Hardy crushes it as the menacing Bane, proving to be the biggest threat to the Bat and Gotham. Joseph Gordon-Levitt convinces as a hopeful police officer who still believes in the city. Anne Hathaway is perfect as Catwoman and is to this day the best onscreen portrayal of the character.

The tone is somehow more bleak than its two predecessors, with Gotham now virtually a police state, with the hero villified for years with a new foe on the horizon. Hans Zimmer delivers with his score one more time. The visuals are darker and more serious (if that's possible). Once again, there is an emphasis on practical effects which provides that extra realism.… Expand

This is Nolan’s greatest film, not in spectacle but in completeness. This is the best of the trilogy. I truly believe this is the best superhero film of all time. ‘A hero can be anyone. Even a man doing something as simple and reassuring as putting a coat around a young boy's shoulders to let him know that the world hadn't ended.’

Here’s my justification. A complacent Gotham - disaster bubbling under the surface, a waning Bruce Wayne, a tormented Jim Gordon, a curiously forthright Robin, a scheming Selina Kyle, a guilty Alfred, and the knocking of Bane on Batman’s door.

I truly think these elements were PERFECT for this finale. First time round I wasn’t a big fan of this Selina Kyle. I still think Reeves’ iteration is better, but this time around I appreciated Hathaway’s performance much more. It’s actually pretty good, crafting the seductive and feminine with the ruthless (for the most part). Her character works well within the story too. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is a great addition, the counterpart to Bruce’s state of being and a plucky hero we can get behind. Gary Oldman is such a good actor, I love him so much. Michael Caine also hands in his best TDK performance in this. At the end, his apology to the graves of Thomas and Martha Wayne is heartbreaking. The opening scene is brilliant. The action overall is better, I think, than in either of the previous films. The score is just, sensational. Cold realism in cinematography always works and Nolan’s spectacular camerawork, editing, shot choice and set pieces are at their peak as usual.

There’s moments of subtle comedy, entrancement, gripping action, social commentary, charming character moments from some of the best actors working today…. and the whole film greatly benefits from being a comeback story. Everything is better when it’s Bruce getting back into Batmanism, everything’s better when old characters and places are revisited. Bruce Wayne, who defeated the Joker, tested one final time. A redemption arc. An absolute breeding ground for a compelling story, a perfect tie-up of a trilogy. Bruce’s acceptance of the tragedy of his life, his then relapse into a primal discovery of himself, his then final stand - by far the best journey the trilogy takes us on. ‘You do not fear death. You think this makes you strong. It makes you weak. How can you move faster than possible, fight longer than possible, without the most powerful impulse of the spirit? The fear of death.’
**** poetry. Also, Tom Hardy as Bane is just as good as the Joker. A menacing force, brimming with cinematic larger than life macho, dominance, an almost calming and spiritual violence. The exploration of terrorism, mob mentality, and rebellion brought about by Bane makes for sharp and visceral entertainment with a massively applicable commentary on the real world. Bane’s monologue, over the montage of Gotham tearing itself up from the inside, is riveting. Nolan said that he didn’t intend the film to be political, rather about ‘primal fears’. I felt this was perfectly paced, never a dull moment, the screenplay cleverly knowing when the story needed to rise and fall, when we needed to see what, and what needed to transpire at the end of it all. There’s no doubt a few flaws in this but I loved it, and I’ll make its case profusely. Really felt as if Nolan put Bruce first in this, making sure he was done justice, before going wild with the cinematic spectacle. Beautifully, both aspects worked out. Also, one of my favourite details was the burning bat signal. Perfect symbol of Batman’s phoenix-like resurrection - born from ashes.

This affected me emotionally more than I thought it would, or even could. It’s a beautiful story, and somehow I feel as if it’s an inspiring story, that can teach us a lot of things. ‘You wouldn’t say anything to me, nor me to you. But we’d both know that you’d made it.… Expand

Officer Blake was a cool point of view, I was ok with him being Robin, but they didn’t really expand on it. Loved Catwoman, the perfect morale rising character, Hathaway was great. The idea of Gotham going into Marshall Law, and the corrupt taking over was a good arc, loved the Scarecrow appearance as well. This movie provided the second straight perfect ending, from Batman sacrificing it all, to him telling Gordon who he is, to the final scene with Alfred, magical. Overall this movie was great, it wasn’t quite as good as the prior, but few movies are, an incredible movie nonetheless.… Expand

These stories all came to a head in 2012 with the release of The Dark Knight Rises, the final movie in the trilogy. The film follows Batman and Catwoman as they attempt to save Gotham from Nuclear destruction at the hands of Bane. I’m going to start this review with this villain since he’s my favorite part of the movie, I LOVE Bane. I think he’s played brilliantly by Tom Hardy and he really does feel just as intimidating as his comic counterpart, despite not beingI’m going to start this review with this villain since he’s my favorite part of the movie, I LOVE Bane. I think he’s played brilliantly by Tom Hardy and he really does feel just as intimidating as his comic counterpart, despite not being pumped with venom. In a film series that took liberties with its characters, Bane really feels like the biggest liberty taken, but it lead to a version that I actually think is superior to the comic version. This version of Bane is a horrifically maimed man who comes to Gotham to finish what Ra’s Al Ghul started, and attempts to destroy Gotham to rid it of the corruption it holds. His design is also a great aspect of his character like his abstract mask design, his imposing figure amongst his minions, and his voice. Some may say the voice is goofy but I always liked it, especially when paired with his overall polite manner. Despite this the movie manages to show us different aspects of his character. Like when he gets hit in the face we see this adrenaline rush animalistic version of him, or when Talia’s backstory is revealed and we see a much more sympathetic side to him. I guess Bane is just a villain that works for me. Batman’s journey, while not as thematically complex as it was in The Dark Knight, is still a great one for his character. After his somewhat failure at the end of the last movie, his path is one of redemption, to have the dark knight rise up once again. However, as he tries to enter the game again he is crippled by Bane after his back is broken, putting him in his worst position yet. He is forced to sit in pain and watch the city he swore to protect be destroyed by this madman. After going through the pains of healing and training to climb the pit (one of the most triumphant scenes in film), he can finally redeem himself and become the hero Gotham needs. This leads to him taking down both Bane and Talia Al Ghul and sacrificing himself to save the city from Bane’s bomb. However, it’s revealed that the Bat was placed on autopilot, so while Batman May be dead, Bruce Wayne isn’t as he sees Alfred in the cafe in Florence. This movie also introduces Catwoman, and while she doesn’t get as much time as the others, she still goes through an extremely satisfying arc. She starts in the movie as this desperate criminal looking for a “clean slate protocol” and learns to care for others after the immense guilt of betraying Bruce. By the end she’s the one to save him from Bane by killing him, still showing her and Batman are the antithesis of each other. This movie also introduced other interesting characters, like John Blake who gives us insight into the corruption in the police force as well as has someone take on the mantle of Batman after Bruce. Or Talia who gives us an interesting twist villain while also making Bane so much more sympathetic. Bane crying is something I’m not sure I needed but it really saddened me. Everything technical about this movie is great too. The score, the cinematography, the acting, and the scale of the movie are all fantastic. What I love about this movie though is it’s themes as it continues the themes of the previous two films. Batman Begins was about Batman confronting fear (Ra’s Al Ghul and Scarecrow) and The Dark Knight was about his confrontation against chaos (Joker and Two Face). This movie deals with him confronting pain, represented by the pain inflicted on him by Bane and Talia, but also the pain they endured in their tragic pasts. What else can I say? I love this movie and it really is fantastic in my eyes. I guess I can understand some people disliking it but for me, this movie falls in line with the rest of the trilogy perfectly. It has great character arcs, a fantastic villain, and one of me favorite thematic conflicts in film. I don’t think there will be a day where I don’t defend this movie. Bane’s speech was also pretty epic, perfectly summarizing his character. If you can’t tell, he was the highlight for me… Expand

Personally I enjoyed this installment more than it's predecessor. The film blends a fast paced and epic soundtrack with modern day battle scenes. There's sheer terror that comes through Bane that I didn't see in the prior installment adversaries. He's calculating, physically large/intimidating and commanding. What's there not to like? The work of Christopher Nolan and the cinematographer are also commendable. The pacing is better this time around and the visuals are stunning for it's time! Hope they revive this version.… Expand

An incredible masterpiece and such a brilliant way to end the Dark Knight trilogy; Christopher Nolan brings us a wonderful story with perfect dialogue and exceptional characters brought to life onto the screen. Transforming comic bookAn incredible masterpiece and such a brilliant way to end the Dark Knight trilogy; Christopher Nolan brings us a wonderful story with perfect dialogue and exceptional characters brought to life onto the screen. Transforming comic book characters into his own style, we find the likes of Batman sharing time with Bane and Catwoman who are executed masterfully with returning legends like Commissioner Gordon, Lucius Fox and Scarecrow.

Stacked with incredible actors, the cast is just full of awesome talent and professionals who achieve the right amount of spectacle to command the screen all at the same time. Christian Bale manages to solidify his character in this final installment, leaving his mark and carrying out his legacy. We see so many sides of Bruce, as we find him lost and out of his game. Joining him are the talented Gary Oldman, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman who reprise their roles in fantastic quality. The emotional impact that Alfred leaves in this story is strong and heartbreaking. Joseph Gordon-Levitt makes for a great newcomer and sells his abilities as an actor in both the action and the emotional scenes.

Tom Hardy brings us a powerful booming Bane, taking to the screen and charging in like a powerhouse. He is immensely terrifying, playing the role of a war-minded terrorist who’s always a step ahead. Anne Hathaway is simply outstanding as Selina Kyle, ushering in a classy and sexy Catwoman into Nolan’s universe. Her costume is impeccable and her role within the film is perfect. Even actors like Ben Mendelsohn and Burn Gorman play such memorable and fun characters; also it’s amazing to see Cillian Murphy reprise his role as Scarecrow in the few scenes he manages to get.

The story itself is incredibly complex and fantastically written. While some twists may be obvious and expected, others are done nicely and crafted excellently. This movie is very dialogue heavy (which I love, especially in how it’s written) but if you fail to keep up with the conversations, you may miss out on big details. The action still serves as a crowd pleasing adrenaline rush, seeing tons of explosions and tanks move by as Batman engages in some cool choreography with Bane. Some of the action does get a little chopped up by the editing, which is a minor issue I have.

There’s also the issue of aspect ratio, as we mostly find a lot of the landscape shots and a few scenes of the film constantly switching back and forth. Some people may not notice it, but for others it can be incredibly distracting. Still, I deeply love this movie for the themes and messages, as well as the adaptations of the comic book characters who are translated into Nolan’s style. The Dark Knight Rises is a fitting and epic conclusion to leave off on for this flawless trilogy… Expand

I don’t know how but during the opening scene of this movie, I started to think this is my favourite superhero movie trilogy of all time, just from these two movies.

Ok so, this is sort of the aftermath of the the second movie, and againI don’t know how but during the opening scene of this movie, I started to think this is my favourite superhero movie trilogy of all time, just from these two movies.

Ok so, this is sort of the aftermath of the the second movie, and again Christopher Nolan uses it amazingly, he made such a great aftermath movie, and somehow after making the masterpiece that is the dark knight, he somehow makes another masterpiece with this movie.

Bane is an amazing villain, not as good as heath ledgers joker but he is still amazing, he seems so convincingly evil and real, like the joker, he has reasons to be evil and he’s convincing and seems like he could sort of be a real villain in real life, and also with bane sort of.

Commissioner gordon and Bruce Wayne/Batman are both amazing in this too, I love how the commissioner has sort of a main character era at the beginning of the movie.

I also love how the lie about Harvey’s death is used in this movie, and how the Batman is being hated on and made out to be a bad person, it also seems like a thing that would happen in real life.

I also love Anne Hathaway as cat woman, she gives a great performance in this, just like the rest of the cast.

Again I’ll have to rewatch this, preferably with headphones so I can hear everything the characters say, instead of background noise as well as the sounds from this movie.

I love how In both of these movies there are so many different main characters and characters and different plot points but they all connect and are all great and work.

John Blake is also a great character, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt gives a great performance as him as well.

I can’t get over how good both heath ledger and Tom Hardys performances as Batman villains are, they both fit their characters perfectly.

And honestly has one of my favourite superhero movie endings ever.

The last decade has been kind to it; it's ambitions, structure, narrative cohesion, Nolan's heavier use of IMAX. Yes, the script may reuse a lot of elements of THE DARK KNIGHT, but here they're refined more, narratively and thematically. I like how this satisfyingly ties itself back to BEGINS in a meaningful way and isn't simply lip service. The action here is also much clearer and more focused in framing and cutting—lots of great practical stunts and tense fights (I also never clocked how high the body count is in this). Bale gives a series best performance, though it's Hardy's Bane that's so chilling and devilishly entertaining with his Muppet Bond villain voice—scary and exciting villains are hard to come by in these kinds of films, and this certainly delivers. Of the three, this one is the longest and the best paced; Nolan makes good on the epic scale and run time to pack a lot in—it never feels rushed or unnecessary. This viewing had me thinking of NO TIME TO DIE and how that aims for similar feels, but can't stick the landing the way this does. The dark knight rises is my most viewed movie at about 8 times and I have yet to have a viewing that disappoints. The story is immaculately constructed to have no scene be unnecessary. The story is immaculately constructed to have no scene be unnecessary. The action is intense and well choreographed. The first fight between Bane and Batman sets bane up as batman greatest foe to date. Not only is Bane stronger and faster but we see he is smarter as well. He brushes off Batman’s tricks and gadgets leaving the fight up to a battle of skill. The movies criticism of anarcho-communism is accurate to the real world instances we have observed. Show trials are performed to go after the upper class of Gotham simulate to the trials scene in the newly formed Soviet Union. People celebrate at first as the believe they have been liberated till they realize their chains where not broken rather transferred from the wealthy to Bane and his thugs. The movie packs intense emotion as well with Alfred leaving Bruce in hopes heal stop him from going back to being Batman to Selina begging him to leave instead of sacrificing himself to a city that didn’t want him. The Dark Knight Rises stood on the shoulders of giants with it being a sequel to the Dark Knight yet it not only proved itself but showed it can go toe to toe with the dark knight any day. 10/10… Expand

Mythic, action-packed, and an examination of the true strength of a hero as Bruce Wayne faces his toughest challenge yet. It’s the truest adaptation of the motifs explores in The Dark Knight Returns while not being a literal translation. The Dark Knight Rises is a powerful, emotional, climactic, and satisfying conclusion to one of the greatest trilogies of all time.

Bane is such a phenomenal antagonist - a classic Bond villain. However, what makes Bane fascinating is his facade. He claims and presents himself to be a liberator, freedom fighter - a villain who’s conviction blinds him to the fallacies of his beliefs. However, for all the theatricality and deception, he’s nothing more than a pawn serving the woman he loves. Tom Hardy brings such a commanding presence to the screen not only physically, but in his delivery of such radical speeches. Hardy is known for his exceptional ability to convey powerful emotions with his eyes, and as Bane, he does precisely that.

Nolan’s execution of such enormous, elaborate, and epic spectacle is masterful. The battle for Gotham is an explosive climax that ranks among the series‘ finest set-pieces. The visceral chill-inducing sewer brawl between Batman and Bane is simply one of the most impactful action sequences I’ve ever witnessed. Every punch is felt; every bone-crushing blow pushes you further to the edge of your seat. It’s a masterclass in tense character-defining conflict that works beautifully to amplify the power and significance of Bruce’s escape from the prison.

I absolutely adore this film. Sure, it’s easy to poke holes in the logic, but it’s a story that services the characters and does so with such grandeur that it’s quite possibly my favorite of the trilogy. The Dark Knight Rises captures the very essence of Batman.

My favorite ending/final shot of all time. This film never fails to bring me to tears every damn time… Expand

I have watched this movie several times when I was little but I never really truly understood it, just watched it for Batman. But re-watching it again, this was a really, REALLY memorable experience.

The plot, the characters, the twist.. Everything in this movie was a 10/10 for me. Tom Hardy as Bane... He did a marvellous job. And of-course Christian Bale... His acting was phenomenal.

I really loved how the story came back full circle, from Bruce not wanting anyone else to be in his life, to Alfred seeing him in the café with Selina in the end. My favourite part of this movie was personally the pit scenes. Ra's Al Ghul being immortal, figuratively instead of literally was a great move by Nolan. And the Miranda Tate twist at the end got me jaw-dropped.

I prefer this over Pattinson's Batman. 100/10 movie, MUST WATCH.

Easily the best film in the trilogy for me, The Dark Knight Rises is a complete package like its precursors. Top notch cinematography, score by Hans Zimmer followed by the unforgettable performances of the amazing cast and one of the most thrilling opening segment to a film makes it one of the finest works of Nolan to this date.

Each film in the trilogy has some kind of standout sequence and this entry is no different. I'm sure most of you'll agree with me when I say the climb and the leap of faith was the epitome of a hero's rise.

With The Dark Knight Rises, the best super-hero trilogy to ever exist is concluded. With a finale that leaves a permanent footprint of Nolan's vision on a genre that wasn't at the pinnacle of its prowess before this trinity of Cape Crusader's story. It surely has set a benchmark for a bracket of film category that is now world famous but no one has been able to come close to it ever since… Expand

A beautiful Batman movie, very dark and deep, full of twists and turns. In general all batman films are beautiful in my opinion but this is perhaps deeper than the others because it tells in itself a complex ache of redemption. There will be no spoilers here and if the impulse to spoil yourself before watching the film is too excruciating to bear, remember this, it'll be the equivalent of Selina Kyle robbing you blind. When Batman Begins came out, I was very sceptical about watching another one of those Batman flicks, such is the enduring traumatic impression Joel Schumacher's films left me. Thank goodness I did and from that point on there's no turning back. Christopher Nolan's finale made all the recently released superhero movies look like child's play to be honest, it is the appetizer to the main course that is the final chapter of The Dark Knight trilogy. The typical critique of Chris Nolan's movies is that it might be too cerebral for the casual moviegoer, no it's not. His films are universal, it's so well-layered, directed towards everyone. If you're more of the "intellectual genre" you'll notice the political undertones and social commentaries and what have you, but even if it goes over your head, it doesn't detract your experience from the film. Fanatic fans of the Batman comics will love all the little nods and references, even the major ones from the comic books thoughtfully implemented throughout the film.
Christian Bale is just magnificent, as he puts it he plays three characters, the billionaire playboy Bruce Wayne, the true persona of Bruce Wayne still grieving the lost of his parents and the Batman. He's the defining actor of The Dark Knight, his portrayal of all these characters are just perfect and even though he's a man dressing up at night as a bat beating criminals to a pulp with his bare hands, we empathise with him. Returning inhabitants of Gotham and Bruce's fundamental foundation of his lifestyle is Gary Oldman's aged and weary morally-strayed Commissioner Jim Gordon, the Q to Batman's James Bond, Lucius Fox and possibly a Best Supporting Actor nominee perhaps, the closest thing to a father figure Bruce can get, his moral compass, oozing with words of wisdom, Michael Caine's Alfred Pennyworth. Scenes between the trio are so poignant, beautifully crafted and presented, it's so hard to watch without getting a lump in your throat, to describe it as tear-jerking ia an understatement. One of the newcomers is Joseph Gordon-Levitt's solid portrayal of beat cop John Blake and Marion Cotillard's enviromentalist Miranda Tate. The chief antagonist is Tom Hardy's full time terrorist Bane, He's frightening to watch, Tom embodies and embraces the sheer brutality and monstrosity of "the mercenary" flawlessly with half his face covered up, the way he conveys his emotions with only his eyes is amazing. Anne Hathaway's morally ambiguous Selina Kyle is a wild card, it's really fun to watch the development and chemistry between Bruce/Selina and Batman/the cat burglar. The 2 hours and 44 minutes running time didn't feel long at all, the story flows seamlessly as it comes full circle with flashbacks from Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, it's all beautifully balanced between the intimate moments of character development that's unusual in a summer blockbuster film and the really elaborate and simply put awesome all-out war action sequences and the choreography of the brawls between Batman and Bane is much improved than the previous films. The most important element of The Dark Knight Rises however and what makes it a gem is that it manages to amp up the suspense and anxiety to incredible heights knowing that every single character is dispensable including the Batman. When was the last time you watched a superhero film and feel a genuine concern that our hero is not going to come out alive? Exactly.
Thank you Christopher Nolan for not giving in to the public and I'm assuming studio demands to continue this magnificent 7-year journey we have all been through together, to truly end this great vision of the legend with integrity, to give this great story a great and true conclusion to let the Batman ride off into the sunset if you will. It was the ending this iconic character deserved. And to anyone who thinks the Rises in The Dark Knight Rises is just a convenient way to name the film, it makes complete sense, it… Expand

What to say about this movie? One of the best in the Batman saga!
Despite not fully following the comics and forgetting to at least mention the Joker who was responsible for ruining Harvey Dante's reputation. It's a great movie!

Nolan rules a lot in action scenes, including an iconic one that even matches the opening of 007 from 1989. I consider the film to have a lot of information to get, but on the other hand, it presents fast paths, the famous shortcuts that help in the development of the movie. movie. Particularly, I find it interesting the way that Nolan and the writers try at all costs to value the figure of Batman and that he is good, even if he is a little insane.
In none of the features, Bruce Wayne saves the day alone, that is, the group side is well valued. Even so, they don't completely lose the heroic and symbolic figure that is Batman!
A funny part for me, is Dr. of Wayne saying he wouldn't be able to ski for a long time... him hours later climbing a building and fighting the evil of Gotham City.
FLAWLESS photography together with parts filmed in IMAX! Starring cast, in particular, Michael Caine's effort in dramatic moments is recognizable, and Hardy's courage, who did not let himself be carried away by Heath and Hathaway in moments of charisma. Where we managed to like her, even though she is a not so reliable person.

While the Dark Knight had a crime thriller tone, this films carries a grim, post-apocalyptic feel. Still reeling from the events of the last movie, it's more of a slow burner, with the titular hero appearing for shorter periods of time. The hero ascends from the pits of despair, removing the physical embodiment of the symbol in order for the symbol of heroism to be solidified. After falling to crushing defeat and suffering, The Dark Knight indeed rises, out of the shadows, out of the silence, out of the depths of despair but a representation of sacrifice and good, allowing Gotham to be forever changed and Bruce Wayne to live. The performances once again are top notch. Cristian Bale returns as an older, mentally and spiritually broken Bruce Wayne, who is in need of a revival. Gary Oldman, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman all slip back into their roles acting as more of elderly counsel, although it is rather odd that Alfred disappears for most of the film. As for the new editions, Tom Hardy crushes it as the menacing Bane, proving to be the biggest threat to the Bat and Gotham. Joseph Gordon-Levitt convinces as a hopeful police officer who still believes in the city. Anne Hathaway is perfect as Catwoman and is to this day the best onscreen portrayal of the character. The tone is somehow more bleak than its two predecessors, with Gotham now virtually a police state, with the hero villified for years with a new foe on the horizon. Hans Zimmer delivers with his score one more time. The visuals are darker and more serious (if that's possible). Once again, there is an emphasis on practical effects which provides that extra realism. Yes, there are plot holes. As they have no real bearing on the story or compromise the overall quality, who freaking cares? Overall, "The Dark Knight Rises" is exactly what the title suggests. A story about redemption. It is a tale of finding courage in the face of overwhelming adversity, in spite of the weight of physical and spiritual suffering and a great conclusion to one of the best cinematic trilogies of all-time… Expand

Also, I’m a sucker for happy endings to stories, those last five minutes are great. Lucius, Jim, and Alfred all finding out Bruce is alive, while he gets a shot at happiness away from Gotham with Selina, just brilliant stuff that makes me smile… Expand

I have definitely watched it more than 30 times. I agree it is one of the greatest movies ever made and even IMDB confirms this as it is ranked as the 73rd greatest film ever.

It has been eight years since the Batman has been seen in Gotham City. Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) has become a recluse in his own mansion. But danger is approaching in the form of the modern terrorist Bane (Tom Hardy), a huge hulking madman who wants to strike fear into the city residents with using violence. Batman does return just in time, but he must also contend with a petty thief in the form of Catwoman (Anne Hathaway), who is either a reluctant criminal or an even more reluctant ally. The plot is complicated and has a lot of new characters which is fine as long as you pay attention. But isn't that what we should be doing when watching a motion picture? This isn't like "The Avengers" where you're watching a movie based on a comicbook. Nolan's film has much more weight to it. It is a crime drama with its roots in the comicbooks. I like that Nolan has been able to successfully tie the three movies together seamlessly. It really feels like one movie in three installments. Bane was a great villain in the comic book and finally gets to show off on the big screen after a dismal appearance as a thug in "Batman and Robin". In fact, after finishing The Dark Knight Rises, I later would watch Iron Man 3 and wonder why Aldrich Killian’s motivations felt so shallow compared to those of Bane – in fact, it did feel as though villains of other films suddenly became superficial, and for a time, I found myself with a decreased enjoyment for Marvel Cinematic Universe movies. This subsequently dissipated after I watched Captain America: Civil War; the MCU’s films are fine, and speak to a different set of ideas than do Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy. The experience I had resulting from The Dark Knight Rises is a phase that some consumers of fiction go through: after watching something especially well-done, expectations are raised, and going into another film with a different director can often alter one’s enjoyment of things. Unlike the Dark Knight trilogy, the MCU is a long-running series whose greatest strength lies in how well-connected the stories are, and the masterful use of humour. It is therefore unsurprising that the aesthetic, tenour and end messages differ so dramatically, and failing to appreciate this is why the me of a decade earlier initially was more reluctant to watch MCU films. Fortunately, an open mind allowed me to turn around, and in the years subsequent, I would come to greatly enjoy the MCU for what it succeeded in presenting. However, not everyone follows this path: for instance, shortly after K-On! The Movie became available to international audiences, Reckoner of Behind the Nihon Review was quick to dismiss K-On! The Movie as being “disingenuous” and “false advertising” for not delivering the same level of though-provoking content as his favourite work, Ergo Proxy. Such a mindset precludes one from broadening their perspectives; had I remained stuck on that path, I would’ve never been open to enjoying things like Thor: Ragnarok, Infinity War and Endgame. However, I am ultimately glad to have seen The Dark Knight Rises because it represented a unique experience… Expand

Christopher Nolan = genius.

Ten years ago, the third and final chapter of Nolan's saga reached the big screen and delivered a very satisfying conclusion to the audience. The plot is set eight years after the death of Harvey Dent and takes us to a pacified city of Gotham, which no longer needs Batman. The situation makes Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) becomes a recluse in his mansion, living only with the butler Alfred (Michael Caine).

One day, in the middle of a party being held at Wayne Manor, one of the hired waitresses steals a necklace of great sentimental value. This is Selina Kyle (Anne Hathaway), a smart and skilled thief who, despite being caught by Bruce, manages to escape. Curious to find out who she is, Bruce returns to the cave to use the computers that served him so well when he donned the mantle of Batman. Gradually he begins to see signs of the emergence of a new threat to Gotham City, personified in the thug Bane (Tom Hardy). The Dark Knight Rises is a masterpiece and a perfect conclusion to the epic trilogy. This film is filled with masterful filmmaking and astonishing camera shots. The opening to this film is so impressive it amazes me still to this day. Tom Hardy as Bane is **** incredible I don't care what anyone says he is great as the bone breaking bad ass. The continuation of the Batman story in The Dark Knight turned out to be much more spectacular than the original 2005 picture thanks to the high-quality work of the entire film crew and a very vivid image of the antagonists: Joker and Two-Face. Such a success is certainly difficult to repeat, but the final part of Nolan's trilogy "The Dark Knight Rises" diligently does it.

The final film, it should be noted, came out quite long, closely approaching the mark of 2 hours and 45 minutes. Whatever this story was, it turned out to be difficult to watch it for so long. The whole film does not leave the feeling that Nolan took this step consciously, trying to fully reveal the characters, as well as effectively finish the narrative about the defenders of Gotham, a city that was plunged into the darkness of violence and lawlessness on a very large scale. In principle, from the point of view of scale, the film pulls on such timing, taking a new peak for itself and demonstrating that Gotham and its inhabitants are in a situation that they have never experienced before.

Bruce Wayne's life seemed to stop after the events of the second film. The creators skillfully show us from the very first frames that Bats retired, became decrepit, became a recluse. The events of The Dark Knight seriously affected Batman, and he never seems to have recovered from them. The atmosphere of the work is literally saturated with apathy, gray colors, oppressive atmosphere. The last challenge for Batman - probably the biggest threat to the Bat-Man and to the entire metropolis is in the person of Bane, who raises the stakes much higher than his predecessors Ras al Ghul and the Joker. But after watching the picture, there is still a feeling that this large-scale project was a success for Nolan an order of magnitude worse than the previous one, where the Oscar-winning Heath Ledger shone so. Actor Tom Hardy failed to present his hero so colorfully, although here, I think, the problem is already in the script and the character himself.

Bane is a colorful enemy of Batman, a creature, as if not even a person, who will definitely test the strength of not only the mind of the protagonist, but also his body. This is a new challenge for the protagonist, who, it seems to me, no longer believes that he can cope with the enemy. Batman is hard not only because he is already tired of life and losses in his superhero role. Batman has aged, has become haggard, does not have such an important support and motivator in the person of his butler Alfred Pennyworth. Michael Caine's performance in this film is very memorable. Despite the man's short screen time, his words, messages, requests and pleas to Bruce sit in the depths of his soul and are remembered for a long time even years after viewing. Kane is a gorgeous actor who so colorfully conveys to us the image of a tired man who had to wait with horror every night for many years that Batman might not return from his next battle with crime. At the same time, it is important to note Kane's dubbing. The voice actor coped perfectly, subtly immersing Russian viewers in all the pains of Alfred's soul.

As for Tom Hardy, he is a good actor who had to not only transform physically globally for the sake of this role, but also play essentially only with his eyes and voice, since his face is hidden under a mask. On the one hand, this mask gives it colorfulness, highlighting just the eyes of the character, and, on the other hand, it significantly complicates the game, because you need to be able to convey various emotions through the look. Also, as before, the dubbing actor Ilya Isaev, whose voice is always penetrating and strong, is on top. Tom Hardy's Bane is a real test for both Batman and the viewer. It is literally a machine for destroying everything around. He and his squad plunge Gotham into an abyss from which there seems to be no way out.

Other heroes are also good: Lucius Fox, Catwoman, Miranda Tate, John Blake, James Gordon. Each of the characters is intelligently played by cool actors. Through their actions and dialogues, we see how Gotham itself is revealed, which, no matter how hard anyone tries, is also going through its worst times. And the last struggle of people for their lives, for their hometown is an evolution, an important step, a manifesto - you can call it whatever you want - for their freedom from tyranny and constant crime.

All the dots over the "I" will be placed here, the director will say everything he wanted within the framework of the completed trilogy. Nolan says goodbye to the franchise well, leaving behind a great legacy - a series of films about an ordinary man who was ready to lay his life on the altar of victory in order to finally show people that they can be free and become who they so want to be… Expand

A spectacular finale to a legendary trilogy.

The performances are tremendous. Christian Bale gives his best performance as Batman in this movie. Tom Hardy rocks as Bane. Anne Hathaway does a fantastic job at Catwoman. Marion Cotillard isA spectacular finale to a legendary trilogy.

The performances are tremendous. Christian Bale gives his best performance as Batman in this movie. Tom Hardy rocks as Bane. Anne Hathaway does a fantastic job at Catwoman. Marion Cotillard is good in her role also. Michael Caine is so great as Alfred, you really feel sad when you hear him say "I'm so sorry. I failed you, sir.". Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman are both very good as always as their characters. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is great as Blake.

The story has some plot holes, like Bruce being able to get back into the city undetected without his gear, but I think it's a perfect ending to the trilogy as a whole. Nolan and Hardy finally do Bane justice in live action. In Batman and Robin, he was a dumbass and a mindless accessory that needed his button pressed or be told to do something. He did the work of the villains. That is NOT Bane. He is a genius mastermind that always teamed up with others instead of being their slave. This is what he was in Rises. He was intimidating, clearly smart, and caused Batman and Gotham a whole lot of pain. He teamed up with Talia to help her with her plan. Their relationship was like Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine, where Bane carried out the actions and Talia was the true boss behind it all. I really like how The Dark Knight Rises pits Batman into a big hole for most of the movie. Whenever he gets put inside a pit, someone always comes to pull him out. But now nobody's coming. He had to find the strength to get out of there and face his fears. This time, he's ready to be Batman again. And as always, Nolan escalates the plot every 10-15 minutes to keep us engaged with gorgeous cinematography and amazing music.

Hans Zimmer does it again with his spectacular soundtrack. I love Bane's theme and that part where Bruce climbs out of the pit. It always blends in with the dialogue, such as "Hoy, you are in for a show tonight, son.".

The action is phenomenal. It captures Batman and Catwoman's fighting skills very well, by the way… Expand
