This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Cine negro moderno. Expand

I will admit, as a fan of Batfleck, and specifically of Snyders vision over the last few Batman/DCEU Movies, I was not wanting to like Pattinson or this movie. However, after watching this, I have to say that it is one of the better portrayals of the character overall. I feel that, for the first time since Batman vs Superman, the villains truly feared Batman. It was, and is very dark, much like the Joker movie from a few years back. However, I think this is necessary for a character as broken as The Batman.

Without going into spoilers, I felt the dark tones were very in line with Snyder, and the character was very closely related to how Bale portrayed Batman in his trilogy of movies. So, overall, a great mix. Though an almost 3 hour movie, it felt like the movie went by quickly, so it was extremely interesting (this coming from someone who regularly has to take breaks when watching movies at home). 9/10

This movie masterfully tells its stories and carried key themes throughout. By the end, I was in awe of how every single (and I do mean every single) storyline served core themes of the film. Vengeance and justice, despair and hope, mental illness and trauma, recognition and healing. By the end, the setting, the history, the characters, and the featured Riddler case all collide perfectly to deliver on the core themes woven throughout the story.

Zoe Kravitz was a huge standout for me -- I have never seen her in anything and I actually worried about the Catwoman romance subplot, but she delivered. Her acting was phenomenal and she paired perfectly with Pattinson to showcase these damaged characters that were trying to hard to find some healing.

I am a huge Batman fan and this is my favorite Batman film. It really felt like it told a full story of Batman. The trauma, the darkness, the vengeance, the light... You got a perfect but subtle view of how Batman is a slave to his trauma, his vengeance, and his need to heal, and they showed a real progression and arc of how he came to understand the need for hope. And I really hope there are more Batman movies with this crew.

Whilst not as cinematic or inventive as the Keaton/Burton or Bale/Nolan interpretations, this version of The Batman does lean into "world's greatest detective" areas of the characters lore that are often ignored. This at once feels fresh and trite as the script often leans on established detective noir tropes, which, especially in the voice over sections can feel cringeworthy due to some poor delivery from Pattinson.
Beyond these very short, seldom, poorly scripted moments however, the movie works very well. Whilst it may not have reached the very high heights of some Batman movies, it does feel authentic and compelling for the full 3 hour runtime and if nothing else it gives superhero movie fans something far more interesting to watch than the painfully dull, over sanitised Disney/Marvel, kids movies. Not perfect, by any means, but a great model to pursue for the future of the DC franchise.

This is the Batman film I've wanted my whole life. Matt Reeves has made the most faithful Batman adaptation to date; pulling inspiration from numerous comics, the animated series, and video games; and it finally explorers the skills of the World's Greatest Detective. This is such a refreshing film that shakes things up for the superhero genre. It's actually not a superhero film at all; it's a deeply complex and layered crime noir thriller similar to a Seven, Chinatown, or Godfather feel. Everything here is gorgeous and crafted with extreme care - the acting, cinematography, musical score, action set pieces. It's a little too long and could've benefited from some trimming in the editing room. It won't be for everyone, it might be too violent for kids, and people who love generic popcorn flicks probably won't like or appreciate it, but for lovers of Batman and true thrilling cinema, it's a must watch. From his walk, to his stare to the fact that he didn't alter his voice. He brings a quiet, strong Batman with real emotional depth. His no killing rule is in full effect here, the way it should be. Zoe Kravitz is perfect as Catwoman. Bringing a grace, strength and beauty to the character. The chemistry between her and Robert Pattinson is undeniable. Colin Farrell's Penguin could step into any gangster movie and take it over. One of the best performances I have seen Farrell give. I can't wait for his HBO Max series. What Paul Dano has done with the Riddler is equal to or better than what Heath Ledger did for The Joker. The Riddler is terrifying. Dano brings a manic and craziness to Riddler that will forever change the way the character is seen. Jeffrey Wright is great as James Gordon. The interaction between Wright and Pattinson is spot on. This is the relationship the two share in the comics. Andy Serkis as Alfred is more a mentor than a father figure for Bruce. He's strong and unwavering. With a depth to him we only get a glimpse of. The Batmobile is so badass. It's loud, fast and strong as hell. The car chase is crazy fun. It's hands down the best Batmobile ever. Matt Reeves directing is spot on. Fleshing the characters out as they have never been before. It's hard taking a multiple series character movie and making it feel fresh and new. Reeves did this beyond my wildest dreams. All the characters feel familiar yet new. You're seeing things with these characters you have not seen before. You can feel how much each actor has embraced their character and this is Reeve's directing. This is the truest comic book Batman I have seen. Reeve's nailed the character better than any other director. Expand

This adds another level to the character. The punches I feel, the atmosphere is so well done I think I just walked around the mean streets of Gotham for about three hours. This is world building at its finest and it’s the way it should be. Many movies don’t pay attention to the world they’re inviting the audience into but this is done brilliantly. This is a more believable character than the one in the Dark Knight but it lacks those amazing scenes that you got with the Joker. The villain is interesting and you understand his point but the Joker seems more villainous. Look I’m not asking for another Joker movie. I feel like that’s done. Maybe scarecrow or someone like that next.

Great movie! Would watch it again. Patterson did a great job.

A movie finally did justice to the name, World's Greatest Detective. Robert Pattinson is perfect. Paul Dano's Riddler is freaking scary as hell. All of the cast gave it their all. Matt Reeves truly created something special for us. Greig Fraser's cinematography is freaking amazing. Along with Michael Giacchino's phenomenal score. It never feelt like a 3 Hour film. Fast paced plot with great action sequences, there's always something going on. There are some minor pacing issues here and there but no biggie.
As I said, as a Batman fan, this is the perfect movie for me. But at the same time I really can't tell how the general audience will feel. This isn't your typical Superhero action flick. You have to be patient. There are a lot of things going on and that all comes together in a great third act. So, yup great movie. Go and watch it in the biggest screen possible.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Batman (2022) is an almost perfect adaptation on the character of Batman. It uses its amazing cast to create a true crime/mystery story about one of the most famous Batman villains told in a narrative by Robert Pattinsons, Batman. This film is a true character study of Batman and highlights some of the key parts of the character.

In particular, the first 20 minutes stood out to me as it shows the crime and corruption of a place like Gotham city. This is the first take on the city where you truly feel immersed in what is going on there. The city doesn’t feel like Chicago or Pittsburgh. The city has life, you can see this in the shots at the beginning where you can see the rubbish lying around and the horrible conditions people are living in.

The acting in this film was truly fantastic, every character had a chance to shine and really do so. Robert Pattinson and Paul Dano were the particular stand out to me, Robert Pattinson showed the depressed side of Batman perfectly in contrast to what we have previously seen in films like The Dark Knight. Paul Dano played a mentally insane man perfectly and was genuinely terrifying when on screen. Zoë Kravitz and Collin Farrell were also both amazing however one flaw I think there was, was making Selina Kyle, Falcone’s daughter. It just seemed to be a bit of a cop out on the story.

Overall though, Matt Reeves did an amazing job. I loved this film and cannot wait to watch it again.

You know what I'm want to say I don't want to compare this movies to previous other batman movie because sir Matt revees already said about this movie that this not the origin tale of batman and this movie is not likely that we have watched before. But still, whenever I watch the Nolan's dark knight trilogy I stuck and never get bored to watch that trilogy and also I want to include bvs, I really enjoy that film like Nolan's dark knight trilogy and Zack snyders justice league and Zack snyders batman vs Superman whenever I watch Enjoy it every time That's it.
This film is also great and I literally get goosebumps while watching this film first time and I gonna go watch again
That's it If I want to rank this movie of my favourite batman fillms them this movie will get 6th position
1. The Dark knight

It is a great film noir detective, so much so that it is literally a superhero film second. There are no memorable set pieces sans one, which is a great chase scene. The casts? Absolutely great, with Pattison bringing in an interpretation of the character never seen before. But the best performance? None other than Colin Farrell as the Penguin! He is utterly unrecognizable and should I say Oscar worthy. Other than that, incredible production designs as per usual from WB. Biggest weakness of the film? It is 3 hours long and while it made the story coherent, as a movie it does it a bit disservice. Other than that, a great start for this franchise. Expand

Instead of aliens invading from another dimension, we have a murderer on the lose in Gotham assassinating city officials. The Batman excels when it delves into the intrigue of corruption and violence that plagues the city, and for most of the first 2 hours it succeeds at drawing you into that grim and complex world where lofty ideals come face-to-face with brutal personal violence. Around 2 hours and 15 minutes the film comes to what feels like a fitting conclusion, and then...

The biggest drawback is the weak final act which comes out of nowhere and contradicts the villain's entire story arc. The closing set piece is not bad, it's just considerably weaker than the stronger parts that preceded it.

Not saying it’s better than the Dark Knight, but in many aspects, it manages to surpass it. The art style and how Gotham is presented, how the city itself is the root of all the twistedness that is born out of it. The cast does a superb job on bringing the characters to life. Best sound effects that I have ever experienced: the roaring sound that sent my seat shaking. The new take on the batman that works perfectly in my books. He is young, raw, brutal, inexperienced, packs some punch and doesn’t really care too much at all. And this Gotham could easily be the nameless city where Se7en took place, including the incessant precipitation. The talent that Matt Reeves assembled for this one is beautifully apparent, from the set design to the cinematography (so many shots deserved to be paused and marveled at), casting to scripting (the script’s frequent use of silence to convey meaning is masterful), and his direction is spot on. Easily one of the best Batmans out there, but the suffocating dreariness of it leaves me wondering how often I’ll want to watch it again. And I have to ask - are we SURE that was Colin Farrell? Just like 2019’s Joker, The Batman is a standalone movie featuring Robert Pattinson as the the character and not part of DC Extended Universe. This is the first solo Batman movie after 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises which is part of The Dark Knight Trilogy. Currently, this movie is the first instalment of the planned Batman trilogy by Matt Reeves, who is known for directing 2014’s Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and 2017’s War for the Planet of the Apes.

In his second year as a masked vigilante, Batman (Pattinson), he investigates the murder of Gotham City Mayor Don Mitchell Jr. on Halloween. The mayor was murdered by a mysterious serial killer called Riddler (Dano), who targets corrupt and powerful Gotham City figures. Apparently, he left a riddle behind for Batman. Soon after, Riddler kills Commissioner Pete Savage and left another riddle for him.

After solving the first two riddles, Batman and Lieutenant James Gordon finds a thumb drive in the late Mayor’s car. The thumb drive contains pictures of the mayor with a Russian woman at Iceberg Lounge which is operated by Oswald Cobblepot/Penguin, Don Carmine Falcone’s lieutenant. While Penguin deny knowing the Russian woman, Batman come across Selina Kyle (Kravitz), who is a roommate with that woman.

With Selina’s help, Batman learns that Gotham District Attorney Gil Colson along with the late police commissioner, are under the payroll of Don Falcone. Riddler strikes again when he abduct Colson later that night and use him to crash the mayor’s funeral the next day. He left another riddle for Batman while Colson was strapped with a timed collar bomb. Batman has to solve the mystery of the serial murders in Gotham City before Riddler kills more innocent people along the way.

If you are expecting to watch Batman’s parents died on the big screen again, you will be glad to hear that this does not happened at all. This one part will let you know that this movie is not gonna be another retelling of an origin story. This movie puts more focus on Batman’s detective skills than the previous movies where this skill was not put much to use. Using the Riddler as the main villain really does align in the movie for Batman to use his detective skills. As the movie used the mystery-solving angle, the movie will keep you engage with the story and you will not feel bored while watching. Speaking of bored, there is not a single scene in this movie is boring because the story of this movie is really well written and the pacing is very good which nothing is out of place. With a well written story and good pacing, you will feel that movie is like a two and half hour movie instead of near three hour movie. Kudos to Matt Reeves for a very well done job in directing this movie. His direction of this movie can rival towards Christopher Nolan’s direction of his Batman movies.

Robert Pattinson’s performance is really great. Not only his Batman is intimidating like his predecessors, his version of Batman spend more screen time as the Caped Crusader than his actual identity as Bruce Wayne. His character developement is done well from his journey as from a vigilante to being a symbol of hope which I believe will carry on into the next instalments. I’m sure his predecessors is proud of him. Paul Dano not only does a great job in playing The Riddler but portraying the character as a Zodiac Killer-style serial killer is really an interesting choice and one great way to introduce this villain into a modern day comic books cinematic. Zoë Kravitz along with the other casts have really done an outstanding performance in the movie. I also liked her on-screen chemistry with Pattinson which I felt it so natural. I felt that this movie does a better Batman-Catwoman relationship than the previous movies.

There are not many bad things about this movie. The only bad thing about this movie is Andy Serkis, who played the role of Alfred Pennyworth, have very little scenes compared to his predecessors. Because of less scenes in the movie, Batman and Alfred’s relationship was not explored well. Hopefully, it does better in the next movies.

As I have mentioned earlier, this is a standalone Batman movie with no connection to DC Extended Universe which means you do not have to watch any previous instalments. While the movie is unconnected, there is no doubt that this movie is a masterpiece and worth rewatching. Last but not least, there is no post-credits scenes.

The Dark Knight felt like more of a Joker movie than a Batman one, this film manages to focus on the character of Batman himself much deeper than any previous entry. Pattinson spends the majority of the film in the suit and I loved the way he carries himself as Batman. There wasn't enough of him as Bruce for me to get a good sense of him but I think this was very intentional and don't think it's a bad thing. As promised, this movie focused on the detective aspect of the character and it feels closer to something like Seven or Zodiac. I think some people might be turned off by the slow burn mystery compared to something with more action or "comic book" type moments. I thought they did a good job mixing these types of moments in, like with the intro of the Batmobile. This was a very well crafted film, you can tell the people who worked on this really know their stuff and they truly care about the source material. Expand

Co-written by Reeves and Peter Craig (“The Town,” “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay”), this film begins when Bruce Wayne/Batman (Robert Pattinson) has been a vigilante crime fighter for two years. After the Mayor of Gotham City is brutally murdered, Batman works with Lieutenant Gordon (Jeffrey Wright) to identify the killer and uncover his motivation. Along the way, Batman is required to confront the corruption of Gotham, where city officials are much more interested in self-dealing than improving the metropolis. Eventually, he discovers that the core of the civic corruption may be closer to home than he thought.

The cast is excellent. In addition to Wright and Paul Dano as The Riddler, John Turturro makes a charismatic appearance as crime boss Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard has a brief, explosive role as the corrupt District Attorney and Colin Farrell, unrecognizable beneath prosthetics and a fat suit, is a criminal-in-training as The Penguin. Zoe Kravitz is a sexy Selina Kyle/Catwoman with her own troubling past to explore. (She apparently prepped for this role by voicing the Catwoman role in 2017’s “The Lego Batman Movie.”) I hope that everybody who remains alive will reappear in later episodes of this intended trilogy.

With this first installment, Reeves has taken the Batman franchise in a very different direction from its predecessors. His goal appears to be exploring the depths of film noir (cynical heroes, stark/dark lighting, intricate plotting, and existential issues). This Batman is a brooding loner driven by vengeance, but self-aware enough to journal his thoughts, writing to give voice to his misgivings about life and his role in it, since there is nobody around to talk to. After “The Lighthouse,” this is a relatively upbeat role for Pattinson.

Two things about this Batman don’t work. First, the venal corruption of public officials is so consistent that the viewer eventually assumes that every character’s sole motivation is self-interest. That’s too cynical, even for me. Second, as The Riddler’s followers prepare for the film’s climactic scene, they debate online what type of weaponry to deploy. For me, observing an online chat where disgruntled terrorists debate “what gauge” rifles to deploy was art imitating life much too closely.

This Batman is sober, somber but still very worthwhile. It forcefully confirms the thesis that power always corrupts.

Robert Pattinson is now my favorite Batman. He brings a new layer to the character and we see how Batman has essentially pushed Bruce Wayne away. We get to see that obsession with Batman that people only ever talk about. This Batman is an inexperienced Batman. He is only in his 2nd year of fighting crime so he makes mistakes and learns from them. He goes through a very compelling arc that fighting for vengeance isn’t the goal. Fighting to protect others and bring hope to those who have none is the goal. There’s a scene at the end that does this and it’s probably my favorite scene in a Batman movie. Paul Dano’s Riddler is amazing. Dano gives a performance that can rival Ledger’s Joker although Ledger is still better. He’s terrifying in a scary and funny way. Colin Farrell’s Penguin is a highlight as well. He’s completely unrecognizable here and brings plenty of comic relief to his performance. Zoe Kravitz’s Catwoman, Jeffrey Wright’s Jim Gordon, and Andy Serkis’s Alfred are also absolutely phenomenal. The story revolving around Batman learning the truth about his parents and the city of Gotham is a very compelling and engaging story. For an almost 3 hour long movie, I wasn’t ever bored. Sure you could definitely cut a small handful of scenes out but the film is very well paced in that regard. Michael Giacchino’s has one of his finest scores on full display here. It will get stuck in your head almost instantly and really does a great job at showing how characters feel and adding tension to scenes. The action here is phenomenal. The highway chase is incredibly well edited and shot and Batman fighting criminals feels brutal. I prefer the action scenes in The Dark Knight but it’s still great here. The cinematography and directing are all fantastic. The film looks beautiful in almost every shot and you can see Matt Reeves on full display here. Definitely excited to check out more of his work. I’m unsure if The Dark Knight or this film is my favorite Batman movie. I would highly recommend checking this out when you get the chance. Expand

One of the best CBM ever made. It is stylish, interesting, provocative, and beautifully shot. Robert Pattinson easily because the greatest live-action Batman imo as well. Cannot wait to see where this future heads following this movie.

Wasnt better then Dark Knight or Batman Vs Superman in my opinion overrated like the Whole MCU, DC stepped they game up with the visuals though Gotham looked like Gotham would look if it was a real city

Uno de los mejores Batman que he visto. Mucho más oscura y realista que las anteriores. Sin embargo aún no supera caballero de la noche.
Espero y sigan esta línea.
