I was more than happy with Mother of Dragons as Sarah.

This movie is for fans. But also not that bad for fresh audience. For me as a fan - 8/10, for others as just another sf action movie - 7/10.

It is impossible to make a new T2. We were ten years old back then. Get over it.

I don't know what do people expect.

There is one thing I really missed from this movie: A original Gn'R track "You Could be mine" should be on that tape player, instead of that lame imitation.

This is second worst in the franchise. The storyline is completely with plot holes and there is no chance that they can make any changes to it in the next installments. The VFX looks like PS4. Emilia Clark as Sarah Connor was a bad impression on Linda Hamilton's character. The VFX of T-1000 looks no different and nit advanced and looks same as T2 which was almost 20 years back! The humour was so bad at this movie. Jai Courtney did a terrible job being Kyle Reese. He had no expressions on his face. On the other hand there were some positive aspects to it too. Arnold was the best thing in the whole movie. Jk Simmons character had a good potential and was wasted. The war scenes looked great better than salvation. Matt smith's character was really interesting but didn't show enough. The action scenes were sort off entertaining.

In the end terminator genisys is an another wasted opportunity . People who haven't seen 1and 2 will definitely love the movie. As of the hard core fans of T1 and T2 we just have to wait for a few more years for James Cameron to get the rights back.

The film is no where near as action packed or as fun as the first two films and even Rise of the Machines. Arnold Schwarzenegger is almost the sole actor that feels like his is in his element here and the other actors in the main cast seem to be misplaced. Terminator 5 is flat, uninspired and I just couldn't care less about most of the characters. The writing is really spotty and the film seems to be relying more on a lame romance than the action that wins over the audience. Terminator Genisys is a complete disappointment. Expand

When even a liquid killer bot seems to have more personality than the male lead, I guess we should start to worry. Arnold steals the show as a grizzled Terminator protecting yet another version of Sarah Connor in several timelines fromWhen even a liquid killer bot seems to have more personality than the male lead, I guess we should start to worry. Arnold steals the show as a grizzled Terminator protecting yet another version of Sarah Connor in several timelines from several killer bots and the viewers from crying from boredom or confusion. You got to give him the credit for at least making this movie watchable.

The plot is made up by shredding the scripts of the previous movies and then randomly gluing the paper snippets back together. You add a lot of explosions, chases and cgi to the mix to plaster over the biggest plot holes and keep the audience off balanced. Add some boring leads to the mix and Arnold shines even more.

So we have a bad Arnold bot from the first movie hopping back in time to kill Sarah, while both the guy from that first movie and a good Arnold bot of the second movie do the same to prevent that. At the same time the T-1000 liquid killer bot from the second movie makes an attempt as well, being bested by Sarah, the good Arnold bot and the male lead, while the bad Arnold bot makes another attempt on Sarah's life after being restarted by the liquid killer bot, but only to fail again..

After that, we get to hop back again in time to yet another moment in the past or hop forward to yet another timeline. Then we get some sudden intimate moments between the male and female leads, cause well they have to mate at some point to make a hero in the future of their timeline. The male lead messes up his one liners and the female lead looks like a teen and we get some more emotional and intimate moments dished to demonstrate the total lack of chemistry between the leads.

A guy who looks like that engineer dude from the Star Trek Next Generation series makes an appearance as the head of da resistance and the bad computer network is shut down in the future, but not shut down because it is actually downloaded into another bot to survive the shutdown and then turns that engineer head of the resistance dude, who also happens to be the son of the two leads, into another bot that then goes back in time to stop the leads and Arnold from stopping the bad network from destroying the world while at the same time trying to save another son of the leads of another timeline, who isn't their son therefore, from getting killed in the progress.

More stuff follows, some buildings get blown up and the world is saved so the two leads can get it on to make their own hero of a resistance that will never be,as the bad network has been killed in the past already.Of that timeline that is.

After the credits we get a cliffhanger in case someone might plan a sequel in the future that is hopefully less of a mess than this one, but if it isn't let's hope the sequel is in another timeline so we won't have to hear from it ever again in our timeline. Not in future nor in the past.

Just watch Arnold do his thing and have a laugh.

The best part of the movie and what takes it to a whole new awesome level is Arnold Shwarzenegger, who returns to the leading role as a real bad ass. Also Jason Clarke is outstanding and Emilia Clarke does a wonderful job at portraying the famous Sarah Connor.Despite the hate,I think that Jai Courtney was fine as Kyle Reese too.
The visuals were truly awesome too,and they stand out on the breath taking action scenes, which are truly something incredible and well done.Add there the great score by Lorne Balfe and Brad Fiedel, and you get this amazing movie filled with awesome sequences that stand out and are very memorable.
Now while the story is not great and it does have some plot holes especially connecting to the old movies, they take away little here as everything else is very well done.
I liked the way that John Connors character is done,as he has the right motivation and the perfect actor to portray that to us,in a way that we buy and enjoy it.
I loved the end battle and that whole scene,I liked the villains motivations and the way it was written, and the way the movie concluded it was very satisfying.
I truly think that this is the perfect start to what is hopefully the start of a new trilogy that is to come very soon with sequels that are as good as this.

People really need to stop comparing sequels with their predecessors. Sure this continuation isn’t as great as T2, but that doesn’t necessary mean that this movie sucks! Which is sadly does to at several occasions.

+ Fun connection with the old movies, an awesome opening scene, much humor (much more than the previous movies), great action-sequences (even though they aren’t that unique) and great actors. Emilia Clarke and Arnold did a really great job, they both blend perfectly into their characters. The non-linear storytelling was a big surprise in my opinion, because I did expect a bad reboot of the exact same story we saw in the old T-movies. But it wasn’t bad, yes it might be a bit too complex and it did become confusing but I really enjoyed the more complex and surprisingly great plot of the movie. The music is great, but there’s no feeling in it, it could have been better. The last great aspect is that it really is an unpredictable movie, and it did surpass my expectations!

Yes, it’s no T2. But it’s no Salvation either. Sure the old and more scary theme, that we saw in T1-T3 sure is gone; Genesis didn’t feel scary or as thrilling as the old movies. But it got its great aspects as previously mentioned, but it really isn’t a flawless movie!

- Confusing and odd storytelling made me feel left out of the movie (but still great because I like movies that need the audience to think). The trailers ruined the movie like hell too, I’ve never seen a movie that have been spoiled so greatly like Genisys. Almost every action-sequence throughout the movie have already been seen, what a waste! Sure there are some surprises here and there, but there could have been so much more if the trailers hadn’t spoiled so much! Another bad aspect is the story, some events are a bit illogical, they doesn’t fit the original characters in the old movies. The ending could also have been better, more developed and better written. Other smaller aspects are; lack of great CGI at certain places, and perhaps too many villains (but great villains!) at once. It did feel pointless sometimes, the villains were defeated so easily meanwhile the previous movies got a hard time doing just that. Genisys really did ruin the villains, they don’t feel like a threat, the scary feeling we got from T2 with the T-1000 is totally gone. Thank you Genisys.

Terminator Genysis is a movie full of flaws. I’m a bit confused due to many great, but also bad things with this movie. The humor and the action is the best things, but the villains, the trailers and the lack of terminator entertainment that we saw in T2 isn’t here anymore. But it’s not a bad movie. Sure it does stand out from the original movies, but guys; it’s a reboot and it’s a fun ride of action and humor. Don’t listen to the bad critics and don’t expect a great Terminator movie, go into the theaters or your living room and watch this insanely great action flick!

Terminator Genisys surely is overwhelmed with serious flaws.

This is not f**king acceptable. This is from the same summer that gave us MAD MAX: FURY ROAD, a movie directed by George Miller who was in his late SIXTIES, so what the hell is Alan Taylor's excuse? Why doesn't this movie want to be entertaining? It had a winning concept! It could of been so much better than it was! We've gotten much better movies from this franchise, but we haven't had a good one since 2003.

Yes, I liked Terminator 3. Was it campy? Yes, but it had a charm which made it entertaining to watch and had that awesome crane chase sequence(which is probably my favorite action sequence from this series). Terminator Genisys? Nothing at all like T3.

Seeing Arnold Schwarzenegger is great and he's the reason you watch the movie, but his performance seems very subdued. I miss the smart-ass-y-ness of the T3 Arnold, he had the best dialogue. I did like seeing J.K. Simmons and how he decided to take on a different role from what he's used to playing, even though it feels like he disappeared out of nowhere near the end of the film. I loved Linda Hamilton's portrayal of Sarah Connor in T2, so seeing this movie and knowing that it's trying to pass of Emilia Clarke's portrayal of her as how Sarah was in T2, I thought to myself, "REALLY?" She is NOTHING like Sarah was in Terminator 2. She doesn't try to put an effort to replicate Linda Hamilton's portrayal, she's bland. The action scenes are pathetic, there's no "Crane Chase" sequence of the sorts, nothing memorable. Plus, Jai Courtney and Matt Smith just look so uninterested.

All in all, "Terminator Genisys" is such a dull, boring, and so miss-casted sequel, stick with the first three films and stop watching these trashy movies.

P.S.
Yes, I re-wrote my review after I saw this movie made more money than "Mad Max: Fury Road". I was so angry, and a second viewing really didn't help...
As Immortan Joe said, "Ah, Mediocre!"

Bottom-line: If you go in with the right expectations, this new addition to the Terminator franchise is kinda fun and actually it warmed me up to the franchise as a whole.

If you’ve ever heard of Terminator you can probably guess the plot of Terminator: Genisys. In the late ‘90’s or early ‘00’s, A.I. was born - yadda yadda yadda - Mankind vs. Machines war. The machines discovered a way to time travel so they sent a robot wrapped in human skin back to kill the mother of the guy who saves Mankind from the war so he is never born. The guy’s name is John Connor and his mother’s name is Sarah. The humans followed suit and sent someone back to save her. That was the first Terminator.

In the second one, the machines sent a liquid metal robot to kill John when he was just a kid. The third one was probably the same. The fourth movie in the franchise was set during the war against the machines, and that brings us to the latest film in the franchise.

It seems like a bunch of movies this summer bank on nostalgia to draw in audiences and Terminator Genisys is no exception. The film’s introduction uses fancy graphics to explain the premise of the series. There is a battle sequence while the humans take over the Machines’ time machine and then they send Kyle Reese (Courtney) back in time. Reese’s arrival in 1984 is a reenactment of the first film up until another liquid metal terminator reveals itself. Sarah Connor comes driving in and saves the would-be hero from the future.

I can’t really go into too much detail actually without giving away major plot points but the crux of the movie comes down to the fact that by sending people to the past, it actually changes the future.

I suspect there are two reasons why people will see Terminator Genisys: Arnold and action. Arnold is getting older but the movie finds a way to work that in; the skin around the machine is human skin so it ages. Boom. Done. They also have a running line that’s kind of endearing. “Old…but not obsolete!”

The action is pretty standard. There are lots of explosions and characters are only injured when it is needed for the plot. They withstand car crashes and fist fights and explosions that would maim anyone else but when a random character shoots them in the leg, they’re incapacitated.

Much like the action, everything, be it the graphics, or the dialog, or the plot, is pretty standard. Normally I’d give this type of movie a 5/10 because it doesn’t really do anything that other movies can’t do better. The reason I decided on a two was because of the film’s sense of humor. It’s stuff like the ‘old but not obsolete’ line that makes this movie a fun, pleasant experience. After all, by this point in the franchise I shudder to imagine what it would look like if it took itself too seriously.

I can honestly say that Genisys was nowhere near as bad as the critics say. They didn't want it to succeed and they didn't give it a chance. That storyline makes total sense and was not hard to follow at all. Here an example of nothing the producers could have done would have changed the critic reviews because every critic hated T3 and T4 and so what does T5 do, it practically erases them from existence in a much better way, and what was the critics response. Oh, what are the producers doing, are we just going to pretend T3 and T4 never existed. So basically Terminator Genisys gave the critics everything they wanted for 12 years and the reviews were still bad. I really hope this does well in China because I really really really want them to make more Terminator movies. DONT LISTEN TO THE CRITICS! PERIOD, Expand

First, it does not know how to spell "genesis". Second, the quality of the story and character development is literally scraping the bottom line while production values for all the explosions and **** are blown to epic proportions. This seems to be a consistent issue with a lot of blockbuster reboot movies, as they all tend to bring in previous senior cast members (or popular, trending new ones), let them act out on a bland script with the most preposterous plot twists (I won't spoil anything, but there is a twist to the movie, and boy do these twists go far beyond), and use the rest of the money on car chases or huge fights that involve a lot of, you guessed it, explosions. "Terminator Genisys" is no different from the others, so the question remains; is this predictable movie really worth your green bills? Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. What is wrong with the "professional" reviews?Such a bad score? Why?I saw a review of this movie on YT from Angry Joe.He likes most of the time the same things i like and he said "great movie".So i went into a theatre. My friends saw prof. reviews and were already **** about that movie. No wonder after the last 2 **** movies. But here? Its a great movie! Why?Lets see:

Visuals:The 3D is a money-waster.Its always a waste of money if the movie isnt made for 3D like avatar.
Sadly enough no theatre in my town shows this movie without 3D.Some effects look ok but most of the time you can take off your 3D glasses and its fine. After the movie i had a massive headache and my eyes hurt too.Never had that before. But if i ignore that fact the visuals are ok, sometimes even great.Think about it that way:The second movie looks still great today. It was a masterpiece of its time and thats why it looks still good.Maybe thats the reason why some people are not that satisfied. They think its 2015/2016 and the movie needs to look MUCH better. No, it needs to look good and deliver a good vibe and i think it did that. When the movie starts its the future-time.Massive CGI scenes with great looking terminators.Big fights with lots of equipment.Much better when you compare it to the last movie.Make-up and stuff is ok to great too.

Sound:I dont know if this is the fault of the theatre i visited(was the first time). The sound was not that "hard".I missed bass when something explodes or when a gun fires.Besides that it was okay.Music is ok, i miss some of the old themes.I think they should have used old assets just for the feeling.

Story:The story is well explained. They use some time to explain the future for example, they tell some lore and some jokes. The jokes are all spot on.Never too seriously, some are a reference to the first too movies.I laughed some times, thats ok.The characters are well written with one exception:Kyle!I dont know why he is such a **** an expierenced soldier from the future but later in the movie hes just a **** and not cool. Many might complain there are some holes in the story.Yes and i like that. Its on purpose for the next movies and you feel that when they ask some questions.Like "who send back the terminator to save sarah??".Nobody knows, its a mystery even when the movie is over.If they do something with this plotholes it might turn out great over the next movies. If not the fanbase will be pissed.

Acting:Emilia Clark is great!Shes the right choice.Arnold is really funny and delivers the hole time ths presence.

Conclusion:If you ignore the last 2 movies this is a great third movie after the great first movie and the masterpiece Terminator 2.For me the movie is between T1 and T2.ot as good as the second movie. But thats ok, the second movie is still a masterpiece in many aspects.I recommend this movie to everyone!

The latest Terminator entry gets good grades for effort, but ends up with mediocre results. This reboot works because of Arnie, but didn't work because of the younger casts. Emilia Clarke is great in Game of Thrones, miscast as Sarah Connor. The plot line has some smart moments, but sometimes felt like a 'parody' of the Terminator series. Even its action scenes were remixes of better set pieces from part 1 & 2. It's worth a look, entertaining in parts but simply too convoluted for its own good. The production team tried their hardest, but simply cannot match the inventiveness of James Cameron's much superior original duology. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Terminator Genisys was probably the best movie since Judgement Day. Yeah, sure the plot is complicated, but why bash a movie just because you don't like time travel? I bet a lot of the people who hate the movie are just angry because they hate change. I don't see a problem with it. Change and re-imagination is good. Would you want to have movie with the same plot every year? I would think you wouldn't unless you are completely intellectually incapable of following complicated plots. The reboot of Star Trek in 2009 had an altered timeline? What makes Terminator Genisys so bad compared to Star Trek? Yeah, sure Jai Courtney wasn't the best Kyle Reese, but he sure beat Christian Bale who played John Connor in Salvation. Jason Clarke as John Connor is Genisys was by far my favourite. Yeah maybe some just don't care for the movie, that's fine. I personally loved the movie, but I really only watched it for Jason Clarke. If a sequel is to happen cough, With Jason Clarke cough, I would watch it for sure, without a doubt. I'm sure people disagree with my review, but really don't care what other people think about the movie. This is "my" honest to god thoughts on the movie. SPOILERS ---- Sure you don't like how John became a T-3000 in the movie and was the bad guy. No matter how you feel, John was still the machines problems. I would go on, but feel that it's best to stop while I can. Expand

Arnold Schwarzenegger proves he is still capable of pulling off being a Cybernetic Organism and steals every scene he is in & both Emilia Clarke and Jason Clarke gave surprisingly good performances as Sarah Connor and John Connor though i will say that Jai Courtney won't win any new fans as Kyle Reese. The action was really fun on a big IMAX 3D screen and I enjoyed this a lot more than Jurassic World mostly because the characters are much better. Expand

The real Terminator 3 for me. I waited 22 years for this. Everything here is well done, with some minor flaws. Great show, nice story and AHNOLD! You will need to watch it at least two times though.
After T3 I was afraid that T5 might be even worse but I went to watch it anyway. And boy am I happy I did! Definitely worth watching, even for T1/T2 fanatics.
To any and all critics giving it below 70 I say GTFO.

STORY
Too complicated for a Terminator flick. Too many changes of scenery and objectives. The numerous versions of the past and the future messed it up a bit too much. There are a few holes here and there and too many questions arise during the viewing. Most of it is explained in as simple manner as possible by the actors yet it is hard to think about it. The reason for that is the action scenes are too close to each other. Basicly in every Terminator flick what you got was this : setup---action---explaining dialogues---action---more dialogues---etc.---ending. Every --- means 10-15 minutes so the viewer can rest a bit and get the hang of what is going on. Not in T5, here every --- durates for 5-7 minutes and then you get action. Not enough time to comprehend.
At some moment I felt like watching Inception and for an action movie it is not good.
Other than that the story makes sense and is deep enough. The holes are not so gaping to call BS. You watch it and hear the dialogues….ok, I can work with that. It is also interesting to see what T5 did to T1 and T2 and it is faithful to the original material, with one exception.
Moreover I was surprised two times by how it goes and that happens very rarely nowadays. Big props for that.
I absolutely loved the ending.
So T5 is a full action movie with deep enough story as in T1/T2. Classic stuff in the best sense.
Oneliners are great. Dialogues are ok. Some old questions from T1/T2 get answered here aswell.

CAST
Here I feel the movie could have done better. In T1/T2 all characters are deep and you sympathise with them. In T5 they feel more like story drones. Ahnold who plays a machine stands out among the human characters that are a bit hollow.
Arnold Schwarzenegger is everything I hoped for. He is nothing short of the T2 guy, a bit worse than T1 electronic murderer. It feels like the whole flick is AHNOLD-APPROVED for great entertainment.
Sarah Connor at first I didn`t like but the got through with good performance. Has everything the original Sarah had. With Arnie she keeps up the comical part through the whole movie.
Kyle Reese…no, just no. Kyle was not a hulk of a man he is in T5. He was not as stupid and iritating as the one in T5. Good performance but a mishap of the character.
John Connor - ok I guess, nothing outstanding but he did his part. I`d like him to be more into his character but it came out remote. I guess if he was bad then he`d ruin the movie but it didn`t happen so overall good job.
T1000 for the time he got in the flick I`d say he was meh.

SHOW
FANSERVICE!!! Lots of it in this movie and in just the right proportions as to not ruin the story. The whole movie pays homage to the first two films and it brought some cool new stuff on its own.
Too much CGI, a bit. It was good but they overdid it just a notch. The T1 Ahnold looked ok but nowhere near natural (although much better than in Salvation).
Overall all the fights look cool, creative and deal some serious environment damage. The only one I didn’t like was the helicopter scene.

MUSIC
A big NO. What the hell? Am I watching a Terminator flick or a Man of Steel flick?! Completely missed the mood of the movie. Came out artificial and needlessly pathetic. Adds nothing to the movie but feels like an itch with minor minutes of in between breaks. Not every movie needs an epic orchestra tune to make it look and feel good. Didn`t ruin the movie but I can`t believe they screwed this up that much.

I rate Genisys at 83/100.

1983 was a VERY long time ago but the thrilling low budget grainy video of The Terminator seems light years ahead of this 2015 Grandpa terminator played for laughs and cheap cgi.
A laughably bad script, wooden acting so bad that old Arnie isn't the worst actor for a change, and pitiful tv style sets.......
Not much else to say.

That being said, I had the benefit of seeing this film without having seen the trailer. I daresay my review score may have dropped a point (or two) had I seen the trailer(s). In short, the twist and best parts are all showboated.

The film begins with some good old nostalgia for the first movie, before setting us off a new terminator adventure. This is the strongest part of the film
Arnold is fast becoming a parody of himself, and this is evident here, but it almost adds a charm.

The latter part of the movie is a special effects-a-thon, reminiscent of something Michael Bay would produce.

As an aside note, there is no need for the 3D version

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. My mom could portray a better T-800 than Arnold does in this film, with his cheeky one-liners, gray hair, and--and WHERE exactly did he come from, anyway? And in what timeline does a terminator go back to 8-year old Sarah Connor? There are so many timelines flying around, AND YET, despite sort of comprehending what that means, the script STILL insists that there's a Judgment Day and someone has to go back and stop it. Never mind the current theories in physics.

Warning: Spoilers

I liked the actors but not the acting, which was painfully bad at times. Some of Sarah (Emilia Clarke)'s one-liners are quite dated which puts into question how long the script has been circulating--without a refresh? Who says "What, really?" anymore? It's not even remotely funny today.

The concept of a terminator's skin healing but still aging is ridiculous and stupid and really wrecks your SoD. And, how many terminator models are there anyway? Seriously, how many are needed to infiltrate and kill humans in the war? You really don't need that many.

When Reese goes back in time for the first time, he emerges into a huge mess of a timeline where Sarah knows who he is (and somehow knows exactly when and where he's going to appear so she can save him "in the nick"), with the Pops terminator (I just don't know...), the new liquid terminator, and... and then there's the evil Google OS takeover of the world that somehow knows it is Skynet even though it's a mobile device OS and goes global before it's even released.

Do these guys even know what it means to LAUNCH a new app or new OS? Do they comprehend that the whole plot of the "new & improved" Skynet 2.0 revolves around billions of distributed devices around the world (smartphones, tablets, computers, cars, etc) is what gives Skynet its processing power and allows it to become self aware? But forget all that... before the launch of the new "killer app" to the world, Skynet becomes self aware before launch and begins to radically evolve. So, what was the whole launch thing about again? I forget... if it runs on a single supercomputer, why does it need to be distributed? And if it's NOT distributed, how can it gain power over military computers, including ICBMs?

Argh! Yes, that's a lot of questions. So, assume the writers are unbelievable morons, close your ears and say "Lalalalalalalalalalalaaaaaaaaaa" during the dialog because you'll understand just as much that way.

I don't get how Emilia Clarke looks or acts or is in any way reminiscent of Linda Hamilton. Although... with Daeneris vyying for the Iron Throne, occupied by Queen Cersei, played by ANOTHER version of Sarah Connor (Lena Headey--see The Sarah Connor Chronicles), is that an inside joke by the producers? I can't help but wonder because though I like Emilia Clarke, it makes no sense to cast her in this role. I never bought for one second that she's the tough-as-nails tankgirl she's supposed to be. Then again, Lena didn't quite pull that off either, so, maybe it's appropriate. Now I can't help but wonder if Daeneris and Cersei will make nice and stop trying to kill each other now that they have shared a soul.

I kind of like this film but a second viewing is necessary to decide. There are some real no-nos in the dialog, with unpleasant monologues droning on and on to fill in nonsense that doesn't make sense anyway. I thought it was more fun than Salvation, esp with Chris Bale out of the way. Seriously, is John Connor Irish or isn't he? Why the flip flop? I get that he's Irish. So frigging what? The casting should be done because of the role, not the implied race. Just more stupid... So, I found a lot to be annoyed with, but enough to maybe prop it up after a second watch, though not at full price.

Which is a shame since it had some good casting. IGN said Emilia Clarke was miscast as Sarah Connor but she is perfectly tough and badass.
To me it's Jai Courtney (A Good Day to Die Hard) who was miscast as Kyle Reese. Courtney was perfect as a jerky villain in the Divergent movies. He's bland when he plays a hero though. However Schwarzenegger slips back into the Terminator role perfectly. J.K. Simmons adds good comic relief as a Detective who believes Connor and Reese's crazy stories about Armageddon and robots. While Matt Smith (Doctor Who) makes small creepy appearances as Skynet.
Despite good action the movie sort of feels like a ride to nowhere. While feeling a little way too familiar despite the story supposed to be being fresh this time around. It feels like Terminator 2 but without a solid plot.
While John Connor's wife Kate Brewster was written out completely. Hell the John Connor character even gets the short end of the stick this time around. Reese cares more than Sarah that John is a T-1000 now. But everyone shoots at him nevertheless and he's blown up multiple times. So one seems too concerned to reverse the process.

Arnold does wonders for this film, giving credit to the character, the director a new approach to the film and yet classy to the Cameron feel of how the future is portrayed. If anything that can be criticized was the studio company giving away too many plots too early in the marketing of, "Terminator Genisys", and the fact to have James Cameron talk about it to help endorse it. As Arnold stated, "The director did a fine job and it seemed that the studio wanted to get Cameron to endorse the film." Along that context. The only thing that besides too early of plot marketing of the film was also of the fact that too many details and give away's were leaked in the marketing giving a bad taste to the expectation of the film. Emilia Clarke is good in her performance of Sarah Connor, and the rest of the cast as well. The film gives excellent humor in the film if also homage to the catch phrases that made the franchise memorable. The only downside for the film itself is the idea of speeding the story a little too quick at certain points but at the same time too throw in some mysterious plot points related to Arnold's character itself. But while the slight mystery plots were potholes only at minor areas. The film itself makes up in overall story, action, and an exciting roller coaster. To the fans supporting this I quote, "Excellent!" To the critics rating this movie at Metacritic, allow me to add an additional quote and misleading the fan base totally, "Chill out, Dick-wad!" This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. An enjoyable action film which at times is seemingly a parody of the Terminator franchise (a good thing!). Arnold is back and delivers an extremely entertaining performance full of cheesy one liners and some very active fight scenes! Some greatly humorous throwbacks to the original film during the scenes in the 80s which at times almost felt like you were watching an 80s flick. CGI Arnold returns albeit briefly in an apparent stab at Salvation which I enjoyed and the plot was quite interesting. More modern scenes were quite accurate in their portrayal of our current obsession with being constantly connecting and the Windows 10 esque operating system was interesting. John Connor delivered a fantastic performance and really made you fear the character at times, while Matt Smith's performance similarly shone out towards the end of the film. Overall, a slightly cheesy and action-orientated film but not one that deserves the bashing given by critics. Certainly will be enjoyable for fans of the series and an interesting take on the Terminator franchise! Expand

Basically bad fan-fiction - that pretty much says it all.

If you can't do an action film with a good story at least have one that doesn't get in the way of the action. Terminator: Genisys does the cardinal sin here. Instead of being merely forgettable the story actually makes you stop and think - wait, this makes no sense. So you can't even enjoy it as a dumb popcorn flick.

There were some genuinely funny bits in this film, but as I write this merely a day after having seen Terminator: Genisys there is nothing memorable that sticks to my mind. With a 26% score on Rotten Tomatoes I expected it would have at least something in the film to hate and rant about it but the film is entirely forgettable.

Other reviewers have remarked that Arnold Schwarzenegger was the best part of the movie and I would have to agree with that opinion. Here he was a lot more interesting than in Terminator 3 and if you are a fan of that character you might be interested in seeing this film. But for fans of the Terminator series I would not recommend this film. Especially if you, like me, loved the second film.

The plot is not hard to follow, it's simple if you just pay attention to their dialogue. I made a point to watch the original Terminator prior to viewing this film and was amused to see them recreate the scenes in which both Reese and 1984 T-800 arrive by time travel. The film was geniunely thought out and written quite clever. If one has a problem following a very simple plot, then go back to school, it wasn't hard to follow at the least. Brilliantly entertaining, and throws around an astounding theory that time, no matter if the past is changed, or the future, it is still linear. Loved this film, love the franchise. 10/10 Expand

Now in it's fifth instalment the Terminator series, Arnold has returned once again in another attempt to stop the seemingly unavoidable judgement day from happening. But sadly at this point it feels as if the franchise has been back too manyNow in it's fifth instalment the Terminator series, Arnold has returned once again in another attempt to stop the seemingly unavoidable judgement day from happening. But sadly at this point it feels as if the franchise has been back too many times. It fails to bring anything substantially new and instead feels more like a weak rehash of things we've already seen in previous films.

We open the film with familiar ground. In a post apocalyptic war the humans, led by John Connor (Jason Clarke), launch an assault taking out Skynet once and for all. But after their victory they discover that a T-800 (played by a CG Arnold Schwarzenegger and a body double) has been sent back in time to 1984 in order to kill Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke) and they send Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) back to protect her. But when he arrives everything is different. Sarah is not the meek helpless person we saw in the first Terminator, but rather a hardened warrior. And the Terminator Kyle is sent to kill has already been taken care of. with the only T-800 left being an aged model who has raised and protected Sarah since her childhood that she calls "Pops" (played by the real Schwarzenegger).

After this we diverge in to needlessly convoluted storyline of time travel silliness involving our leads travelling from 1984 to 2017, dealing with alternating time-lines that correct Kyle's memories and a new Skynet using a new "killer app" to take over the world. At times it's hard to follow and all the complicated time travel is basically the film's way of being able to reset the world and the characters to start a new slate in a more modern setting.

The strongest part of the film probably ends up being Schwarzenegger. Whilst his aged Terminator is obviously just a clever way to get him into the film, the concept of his flesh ageing as any human make sense and his "old but not obsolete" theme is different to what we've seen in previous films and does lead to some interesting scenes of his joints stiffening up mid battle. Plus as usual he does deliver the most laughs in the film through his robot trying to be human routine whilst still able to pull of the imposing figure that made the Terminator great to begin with.

But unfortunately this old Arnie seems to be the only element of the film that isn't a rehash from earlier films. The story is the same mixture we saw in T-2 with Arnie protecting the humans, a theme of whether a robot can love and the heroes attempting to stop judgement day. The only difference being that here the characters are so poorly developed that we don't really root for them the same way we did in previous instalments. Our characters are given such little time to develop that when they go from 1984 to 2017 they never have a single line of dialogue reacting to how different things are in the future.

Then there's the way the film seems to destroy the intimidating presence that Skynet had in the other films. They're defeated so quickly in the short opening with the humans toppling them like domino's, that I was left wondering how they were even a threat to begin with. But worse yet is how the film seems to ruin the intimidating image of the original T-800 from the first Terminator movie changing him from a near unstoppable presence from the first film, into an easily defeated nuisance who's defeated almost as quickly as he is introduced.

When it comes to the fight scenes they're a bit of a mixed bag. At times Alan Taylor proves himself confident of creating a decent action sequence with some of the earlier fight scenes with Byung-Hun Lee set in the 1980's are good creating a cool game of cat and mouse with a T-1000 chasing a helpless Kyle through a clothing store. But other fights just appear as mindless CGI violence looking as generic as you can get. The worst being a helicopter chase which uses some of the worst CGI that I've seen in a blockbuster movie in quite a while with helicopters having a cartoon's concept of physics and look atrociously unbelievable throughout.

Ultimately the film relies only on nostalgia. It tries to remind you of the past Terminator any time it can with half the dialogue in the film being recycled from the other movies ("I'll be back" "Come with me if you want to live" etc.) and relying on tie ins to previous Terminators showing the original T-800 along with the iconic designs of the futuristic metal exoskeletons. But in trying to do this it feels more like a homage to the Terminator films than it does a new instalment. And not a good homage either.

Although not as dull as its predecessor, “Terminator: Genisys” is still a step back over the first two great movies, and will make most fans wish that the franchise should perish.

What the hell were critics smoking when they reviewed this movie? I really enjoyed Genisys. It's not as special as 1 or 2, but in the end, as well as ignoring 3 and Salvation, I say it's a worthy successor to James Cameron's films.

Yes, there are some things that are only briefly touched upon but to fix all of the **** of previous films would of required Genisys to be **** 5 hours long so once again do not let all the negative prattling put you off, Genisys has neatly and tidily ended the Judgement Day loop. Expand

Whilst it is not as great as The Terminator, And Terminator 2, It is still a good film and i'd recommend you to see it if you are a terminator fan.
The plot is somewhat confusing, however once the story diverges from the original, the movie sets the pace of any other terminator movie, and you'll enjoy the action filled experience, that you except from any terminator movie.

Like it couldn't decide which story it wanted to tell, so it frankensteined all their idea's together into a bit of a jumbled mess.
But being a fun movie it's not meant to have the best story. It's mostly paying tribute to it's much more likable older siblings, Terminator 1, and Terminator 2. I give this movie an 8, because I personally enjoy it, and others( including other users on this site)have other opinions, but if you to relive the nostalgia of the old Terminator movies, or just see Arnold with more guns than the NRA would allow, than this film is for you.

It's not as good as the first two, but it's by far better than the other two sequels. It's intriguing, funny, and with an intricate challenging story that the lazy would call convoluted but just requires you to think. Not only that, the characters are pretty smart. They plant traps, the strategize, and develop tactics to counter their enemies. It's a smarter movie than people realize, but it's one some people clearly can't appreciate. Expand

The script is so convoluted filled with plot holes and it barely makes any sense, obviously the film is written by people who don't care for the franchise. The film has lackluster action, that's odd because the terminator series has great action scenes, director Alan Taylor does a slick way of directing the action scenes and copying off of James Cameron. John Connor (Jason Clarke) the leader of the human resistance, sends solider Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) back in 1984 to protect his mother Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke from 'Game of Thrones') from another terminator assassin, creating an unexpected turn of the events in the timeline; in the first Terminator Sarah is a scared waitress, but now she is a skilled fighter and has her Terminator guardian (played once again by Arnold Schwarzenegger) by her side. With good allies and dangerous enemies Reese sets out on an unexpected new mission: reset the future and prevent Skynet from launching their app before the robot apocalypse starts and destroys mankind. There are many flaws with the movie, Arnold once again is great and brings so much energy and like ability into the Terminator and Jai Courtney was missed cast however he was fine playing Kyle Reese. Emilia Clarke was missed cast as Sarah Connor (she can act but not in this movie) she over does with her performance and Jason Clarke was not a mediocre version of John Connor like Nick Stahl, Clarke can act but doing over doing it as the John Connor character. The film is not cheesy or cliche'd it's confusing as hell and the action is mediocre. Grade C- Expand

Suddenly a worthy sequel

Made today the campaign for the new Terminator, which is the Genesis. Copies among fans of the franchise around him was broken a lot — TRU or not TRU aged robot (Arnie that is 30 years younger), canonical or not canonical to touch such moves from Cameroon's novels, and many other hundreds of posts in the relevant forums. Me, honestly, is also doubted. The third part was more of the sh*t, the fourth — good film, but generally perceived separately from the series. But, the first full-length trailer and then a laudatory review from the Cameron set up a optimistic way. And, not to Buriatia doubts, went on first impressions to assess first hand.

To my surprise, the movie was not in repertoire terms beloved of the Beam. When blockbusters such level with each iron show strive. Sea cinema and Kinomax past for me, so picked available from the Epicenter. I am to him is not, however, kinik to look at pull. Screen even, visually, more Lucavsala, chairs, kind, gentle, and the fact that he looks shabby Yes pomateny — well, the tea, and I'm not a glamorous chick that will hang out crawling.

The features of the Epicenter, again the level of his "popdose" showing — the ticket purchased online, then punch at the box office. No self-service terminals. In the afternoon when we went, that's the rules. And so, to stand in queues does not suit me. Why take online that is more convenient. Terminals special queues have never watched. Well, okay with it. As I said, went in the afternoon to catch up to the evening training session, and this session, the hype was not observed. Although, on a prior, judging by facing the people, the hall was Packed. Can pripasov on the very first session, seeded, XS.

The film was in 3D. Not my favorite format, but in this case they, and not abused, as is sometimes the case, and he built unobtrusively, so that picture was a plus. How, in fact, and so its contents.

Initially, the first 15 minutes, it was still a feeling of wrongness of what is happening, and the picture looked like the fourth, except that canonically in sombre dark colours were filed all future. However, over time the picture has absorbed the attention and all sorts of philosophical izmyshlizmy in this picture there was no time left. Action interspersed short breaks, during which we are the creators of the picture by the mouths of the characters explained what the hell is going on here (and the events of the first two Terminators then segued into something new, play with time, all cases), sometimes the characters drove the lyrics (except for Arnie here were all stereotypically-blockbuster, well, put a pinch of the lyrics — here you are), and then again quality the action. The fights and action on top, and lots of it. From the picture hardly someone expected a profound drama and leisurely story about the adventures of a cyborg soldier and resistance in the past. And, with all blokbasterami, not being superficial Thriller. Somewhere, even for modern society of consumption to ride casually done. Note on the Genesis, gadgetmania and what about her said heroes. And this is in anticipation of the release of Windows 10, by the way! The plot to discuss and chew over not undertake, briefly about it stakeholders know, but a paraphrase of live screenings of the film — it is necessary to you?

Of course, by the way, how many ears protruded classical novels. Generally the new movie came out a hybrid qualitative remake Kemeronovskoy tapes, plus, again high-quality continuation of the story already new authors. Then you and the liquid T-1000, and the chase sometimes blows nostalgia, but... no stupid tracings, reinterpretation and continuation of traditions. Then, by the way, the film remains a stumbling block. Someone that treats the "Holy swung and messed up", I will say — the story faced in childhood (the first 8 years he gazed, the second — 12) came back to life on the screen, telling that the same might be/happened next. Without falling into sampraday, paste and so on. Direct pancake immediately the result in the middle of the review happened. Well, maybe then it's time to call it a day.

But, in conclusion, we can not say about the Arnold Schwarzenegger. Famous for the role of a soulless killer machine, subsequently trying to become like the man, he again best played a role. Dont copywrite yourself 20-30 years ago, and showing evolution (as far as possible for her) machine, lived for several decades to protect one person. With humor, irony, and a dash appears in the T-800 over the years humanity. "Save my Sarah" — so to the fifth part of the killing machine showed that Skynet really created a new mind (and not only in the form itself), is able not only to cold digital analysis but also something that distinguishes living from nonliving. For me, this film will take its rightful place with the classical T-2,

Emilia Clarke is a good enough Sarah Conner. She's given better performances before, and probably will again. I doubt she'll win an award for this role. But its good enough. Arnie is back. He may be incapable of doing most of the things his younger self did in previous films, but through movie magic he too plays his role good enough. He doesn't show his age quite so bad as Harrison Ford of late. The actor playing Kyle Reece is intended as kind of a blank slate, so that is done well.
The biggest failing of this film is that the story, and visuals have lost a lot of the grit. The CG is a bit too smooth at times, and the gravity of situations is often missing because of it. The bad guy wasn't quite real enough. With a good old T101, a blow to the head stunned, gunfire to the torso or head caused minor damage. It was clear what merited a "kill." This new guy though. At one point he was quite wrath like. Was anything they did having any affect on him at all?
Also. The school bus crash looked wrong. Though it was rendered like a bus, no bus would go flying like that. Not even with wires and rigging.
Overall, for me this ranks about an average action flick. Which is weak for a Terminator movie, but better than what we've been getting lately at least.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I would have liked this movie a lot better if they didn't turn John Connor into an evil person. Couldn't they come up with another villain and another angle on the story? For instance, seeing the same familiar story change completely because of one thing disrupting whatever happened in a previous movie, giving the same set of circumstances a completely different outcome the heroes have to overcome. I did like the operating system angle. That almost accomplished an interesting angle until John turned bad. So many other more interesting angles could have been used. But, as usual, the effects are great and the movie was entertaining, except for the bad John. Jason Clarke is excellent, but I want him to stay the hero. Our technology being the villain where people misuse it would have been a better focus. That would be very thought provoking because it could happen. Expand

I don't usually "go online" and write a review of movies and things, I am a HUGE fan of the Terminator franchise and my opinion is a little biased.
Took my kids to watch this when it came out in local theaters, I was "giddy" about this since seeing it in the newspaper. When my son asked me "what movie we were going to see" I was happy to say Terminator, thinking he loves these kinds of movies(he does). A few minutes later I was confronted by a angry mob of children telling me the movie is bad. There was a lot of drama/tears/shouting, but it turns out these online reviews that kids access from their smart phones are rubbish and only serves to irritate parents.
This movie was AWESOME (as they say) from start to finish, and having a few more Terminator fans around the house makes for good dad jokes.

It's an OK movie but i would separate it from the whole Terminator franchise It is overcomplicated with things that are unnecessary and instead of simple story like in T1,2,3,4 we get something really complex in terms of story with a lot of comical reliefs on the top. The problem is that the script writer had no idea how to close holes in the script so instead of simplifying it he used thing like "we just don't know lol. For example the main question of the film - who sent Pops back in time? What was the answer? "This information is deleted from my memory". I mean they leave it there just like that and don't do anything with this story hole. This is terrible. On the other side visuals are very good i like it but i couldn't get rid of the feeling that i was watching Fast & Furious 2029 instead of Terminator. It looks good but at the same time it's dumb as **** and it has nothing to do with the original. I think i can clearly say that the movie was saved only by the appearance of Arnold. Without him the movie would be a complete disaster.

Overall it has a little to do with the original diology but it is watchable in a company of friends and booze. It's is more like a fan made film rather than a real one and it is not worth buying on the Blu Ray but it's not bad either. I think 610 or 710is a fair score for that movie.

An enjoyable sequel, loaded with fan service done right. It's no T2, but it is far above T3. In my opinion this puts the franchise back on track. Give it a watch, you won't regret it.

Several times in the film they pay homage to T2 and the plot was tight and quick paced - the visual and sound effects were impressive! The terminators look awesome. There are plenty of eighties throwback lines and guns and ammo you loved from old Schwarzenegger films too. The acting was sharp with some nice laughs thrown in so it doesn't take it self so seriously. Also kudos to Hollywood for making it PG-13 so it's more family oriented. Keep it classy. A big applause to director Alan Taylor (The Sopranos, Game of Thrones) and bringing in "Khaleesi" to play Sarah Conner (babe alert!) - significantly cuter than Linda Hamilton. And more chill. No offense. The movie also makes some good social commentary on the use of technology. Today most of society is plugged in (smartphones) and theirs not much real connection going on between friends and family. It's important to realize we have a short time on earth - make the most of it! This film was an action packed race for humanities future and I look forward to the next two in line! Expand

The special effects are truly awesome but what makes ‘Terminator Genisys’ go from being an okay film to a good one is its respect and understanding of everything that made the franchise so remarkable and significant in the first place.

No Terminator movie would be complete without the concept of time travel.

Arnie was in his mid thirties the first time he took on the role of a Terminator but but 31 years later he still has the magic. There’s something truly unique and heart warming about watching an Arnie movie on the big screen. It’s as natural a thing as breathing.

Jason Clarke, Courtney and Emilia Clarke all work well together but the plot becomes a little hard to follow with all its talk about time travel and alternate realities.

A true reboot

I can not describe to you the amount of script holes of this movie. It tore the whole premise of the franchise. It's a beautiful piece of ****. Stay home, place Terminator 2 on your DVD player and save money movie.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Watching the 5th film (which is not so bad), I began to think something like: "I've seen Terminator 1, 2, 3 and 4 only to realize that all these films make only one alternate timeline and that the line Real is the 5th movie. I really enjoyed the 1st and the 2nd, 3rd and the 4th of felt a little jarring, and the fifth liked, but it was a mixture of disappointment and good taste (something like a guilty pleasure). Arnold, J.K Simmons and Lee Byung-hun save the essence of the film. Emilia Clarke does not so bad the role of Sarah Connor (Physically would have some resemblance to a teenager Linda Hamilton), but left things to be desired. and the rest, as half and fa. Is it worth seeing the movie ?, If you want to complete the saga, perhaps catches your attention, though perhaps not you like to see how the saga kill with a single blow. I give it a 7 out of 10. And again, don't listen to the critics. Terminator Genisys is indeed a fun movie to watch. It is a gift to the fans that contains a lot of inside jokes and unexpected moments. We had a great time watching this movie!
