I have mixed feelings regarding the movie TED. In the beginning I thought the jokes in the movie were weird, and the humor style was not the same as mine. However, the movie did make me laugh multiple times throughout the movie, and II have mixed feelings regarding the movie TED. However, the movie did make me laugh multiple times throughout the movie, and I generally enjoyed watching it. I thought the beginning and the end of the movie were really bad. The first 30 minutes of the movie it still did not feel like the plot or the characters were moving towards something, and it was difficult to see what the purpose or the moral of the movie was. The ending of the movie was also really predictable, and therefore not that fun to watch. There were also some scenes in the movie that were too unrealistic even for a comedy movie. These were things like the police not reacting and Rex continuously attempting to score Lori despite her many rejections.… Expand

This movie is f*cking hilarious! It’s the first feature film to be written and directed by Seth MacFarlane (not counting Stewie Griffin the untold story), and it turned out so well! Mark Wahlberg is the main star who owns a teddy bear voiced by Seth MacFarlane that he wished to life. They love to smoke pot and do drugs together and they cuss a lot! Mila Kunis, the voice of Meg, plays John’s girlfriend. And who can forget Giovanni Ribisi’s character? He nailed the role of the bad guy and was extremely good with the acting. The jokes throughout the film are quite dirty and are all extremely difficult not to laugh at! I am a huge fan of Seth MacFarlane and his style of humour, like in Family Guy. The story was very well written and at points you really feel for the characters. There is a good lesson attached to it, never let go of your best friend. This is one of the funniest movies of all time, and if you like Family Guy, you will love this movie for sure!… Expand

People have said this is like an extended episode of Family Guy and I suppose it is like that, in as much as it features frequent strong or coarse language, sexual innuendos and overly exaggerated characters, with pop culture references throughout. I say the characters are overly exaggerated in terms of being stereotypes, so for example there's the token fat kid, the busty love interests, the somewhat dim boss and so on. There are also a few references to drugs, so bare that in mind. The movie carries a 15 certificate, which is more than fair in my eyes - its certainly not for kids, even though the front cover could make it seem appealing to them.

There is a plot of sorts but its fairly tedious, I'd say. The main character John Bennett isn't exactly someone you naturally root for - he seems pretty selfish and lazy and if it weren't for the obvious novelty factor in his childhood buddy Ted, then there wouldn't be any real appeal in the movie or main incentive to watch it overall, I wouldn't have thought, although possibly teen boys (who this movie is probably mainly targeted at) might still get a kick out of it for the profanity alone, I suppose.

I found the ending to be also quite exaggerated and cheesy, though I don't think its a movie that really takes itself too seriously. If your familiar with and keen on the Family Guy TV show then you should find this pretty entertaining (baring in mind that the movie was directed by the creator of Family Guy, Seth MacFarlane, who also voices Ted), although I felt that there's perhaps more wit in the TV show than there was in this movie. If you know the main concept of the movie, the fact that its a talking teddy bear that swears and likes a good time, then you get the idea of what the movie is about and there really isn't a great deal else to it, content wise, so there's not alot that can be said really, other than it does get a bit more serious in tone towards the end and is even a bit cheesy, Hollywood-esque. I'd imagine that younger teen viewers will roll their eyes at the ending and yet others will, or may, be put off by the crude content beforehand, so thats a little confusing. I knew roughly what to expect so wasn't greatly offended though - I don't mind a bit of crude humour and content if its well done. I'd say overall this is a fairly average movie though, im sure there will be some people who find it hilarious and there will be those who cringe throughout. Its pretty obvious what kind of movie it is, judge for yourself whether its 'for you' or not. What I will say, before finishing up this section, however, is that I thought Mark Wahlberg was a particularly good choice in portraying the role of John Bennett - he certainly comes across as very nonchalant and laidback, which I guess is easy to do but for whatever reason, I did think that he seemed to play the role pretty well (maybe thats a dumb thing to say though? who knows). Mila Kunis gave a pretty average performance as the girlfriend Lori and also present is Giovanni Ribisi, who plays an 'admirer' of Teds. Also present is Joel McHale, who may be known to some as the guy who presents a scathing programme about celebrities and TV called 'The Soup' on the E! network, plus Patrick Stewart contributes as the narrator.

I wouldn't especially recommend this movie. If your a fan of Family Guy and are curious then yes, you might get a few laughs from it - its entertaining enough but no great shakes, as they say.… Expand

It makes Ted come off as an arrogant a-hole, completely incapable of looking past his own obscure cravings resulting in some class-A bad behavior which makes him, quite frankly, a terrible friend. Not that John is a saint, but Ted is a next-level douche-bag and it made me dislike him a lot for most of the movie.

The result is a bunch of half-funny sketch-like "Woooow, duuuuude!" scenes which lays the foundation of most of the first half of the movie. It seems like filler and it's pretty cringy at times. Some might appreciate it - I didn't.

But then it stumbles into the last half. And that's where it starts to make sense. It slowly moves into a more sombre and well-written narrative. And it kind of starts to shine because of it.

What I like about the movie in general though, is that it isn't black and white. There's no character in the movie who is "always right" or "always wrong". And one character might make you dislike them one scene, but then the next scene you go "Yeah ok, I guess he / she is right after all". I like that about it.

If they had just dialed back the Ted douche-baggery a bit, I would have liked it a lot more I think.… Expand

The story of a crazed fanatic who attempts to steal Ted takes center stage and the movie becomes a straightforward chase picture. The jokes stop falling flat, but only because they stop showing up at all.

Ted is an original and interesting idea for a comedy that works most of the time. The weakness lies in Seth McFarlane's need to appease teenage fans by adding as much crass content in the film whether it is warranted or not.

This film tells the story of John Bennett and his teddy bear. On a beautiful Christmas, and thanks to a desire he asked, this teddy bear came to life. However, as it's not very common to see aA terrorist attack on our values as a society.

This film tells the story of John Bennett and his teddy bear. On a beautiful Christmas, and thanks to a desire he asked, this teddy bear came to life. However, as it's not very common to see a grown man with his absolutely delinquent teddy bear, this friendship is destined to pass by severe difficulties.

This film was an idea of Seth MacFarlane, who signs "Family Guy," an American series of humor for adults. And in fact, only a head as damaged and distorted like his could think of ruining the teddy bears, a symbol of our childhood and innocence, putting one of them to do a huge amount of obscenities in a two-hour movie. The film puts Ted to behave like an idiot, to swear and say profanities as if he were reciting Shakespeare instead, and to use drugs and drinking as the world were to end tomorrow and the best thing to do was to turning back in human evolution. In addition to this authentic apology to animality, imbecility and consumption of drugs and alcohol, the film also puts Ted practically defending the "theory" that being a pervert is simply great, and a great proof of manhood.

I don't consider myself an ultraconservative nor a moralist, but the truth is our society didn't need this kind of movies. There are more interesting ways of doing comedy. To making people laugh isn't need to attack the moral and social values in which we create our children and stand our nation. We live in days of great confusion, it seems that what is evil has become good. And movies like this only serve to prove it.… Expand

I don't get how some films (mainly comedy) at times seem to take an old actor/franchise and completely flaunt him/it like product placement. In this film for some reason Seth MacFarlane has used Sam L. Jones of 'Flash Gordon' fame in whatI don't get how some films (mainly comedy) at times seem to take an old actor/franchise and completely flaunt him/it like product placement. In this film for some reason Seth MacFarlane has used Sam L. Jones of 'Flash Gordon' fame in what seems to be some kind of agreement to try and reboot his career. Well that's how it comes across to me anyway, no other reason for him being there really. I'm guessing its in a typical 'Family Guy' style just to have random off the wall moments with cameos.

So Seth MacFarlane breaks into the movies with this 'Family Guy' orientated comedy. I say 'Family Guy' orientated because even though it has nothing to do with FG the main character of Ted sounds just like Brian and Peter from FG (yes I know that's how MacFarlane sounds in reality), he wrote it with FG writers, plus he utilizes FG voice actress Mila Kunis also, so its home from home in a way.

I expected this to be totally downright funny and hilariously filthy, it was but not as much as I hoped for. Yes there are some grand bits of dialog that sound so cynical and sharp with MacFarlane's well spoken tones but they are few and far between.

Even the swearing isn't as cool as you would think. At first you think its gonna be awesome to finally here Peter and Brian Griffin use bad profanity but it wains fast. At first its highly effective but as time passes the novelty where's off. Its like a sexy sultry woman dressed in a tight skimpy revealing outfit, its amazingly hot and never fails to keep you excited. Then you see the same woman completely naked...straight away she no longer becomes as hot because all the mystery is gone, she's right there in the buff with nothing left to hide.

So in other words when we see Family Guy without swearing its actually more effective than if it had swearing, because it makes you use your imagination and I think comes across funnier. It works for this film (at times) I'm just saying hearing MacFarlane swear wasn't as funny as I thought it would be (can anyone beat Cartman in those stakes?). Hope you all get what I'm saying.

As for the rest its kinda average really, nothing much happens in the film until the finale which does get a whole lot better. Kudos to Giovanni Ribisi with his excellent Norman Bates style father character, easily the best thing to watch towards the end. The sequence where he is dancing in front of the TV to Tiffany is creepy as fudge plus hilarious at the same time...yet I'm not sure why, I think it was the pelvic moves.

There are a few weirdly eerie moments in the film, probably down to the fact its based around a living teddy bear. The point where Ted fights Wahlberg is kinda creepy in a disturbing horror type way. I reckon its suppose to be a take on the sequences in 'Family Guy' where Peter fights that large chicken character (seems to use the same sound effects too). Was it suppose to be funny?! Seeing Ted having sex, being with hookers and dating hot women is also rather odd, why would a real woman wanna go out with a teddy bear?? Yes its a fantasy film but really?

Other than that it does satisfy to a degree, its just not as good as it could of been methinks. Ending was sweet but totally predictable lame fluff, Wahlberg was miscast in my opinion (the guy can't act, why does no one see this?!) and clearly MacFarlane has a 'Flash Gordon' fetish. He stuck Sam Jones in there why again? (looks good for his age though, can't deny that).

Sorry for comparing 'Family Guy' to this so much, hard not to really...oh and for typing it a a lot too.… Expand

During Christmas sometime in the 1980s, a young boy named John Bennett who seems to haveSeth MacFarlane (creator of 'Family Guy') makes his feature-film debut with a story about a grown man, and his walking, talking teddy bear in 'Ted'.

During Christmas sometime in the 1980s, a young boy named John Bennett who seems to have trouble making friends, and fitting in with some of the other boys. His parents give him the best gift he has ever been given, a stuffed teddy bear where if you squeeze his chest, a little squeaky voice says "I love you". This endearing bear has proven to be something special for the young John.

One night, John makes a wish to this bear that he could talk and be his real friend. The next morning, John is shocked to discover that his wish came true and that "Ted" has come to life. At first it freaks a lot of people out, but soon enough, Ted becomes a celebrity and we see him going on chat shows and promoting his fame, but the fame doesn't distract Ted from his strong friendship with John.

We cut to over 20 years later, and John (Mark Wahlberg) and Ted (voiced by Seth MacFarlane) live in an apartment always making a habit of smoking pot and getting high all the time. We also meet John's girlfriend Lori (Mila Kunis) who raises some concern that her boyfriend is nothing more than just an eight year old boy trapped in a 30 year old's body. She wants Ted to move out, so they can focus strongly on their relationship.

Ted tries to find a new apartment to live in, and tries looking for a job. He ends up working at a till at a supermarket, this is where he meets a girl named Tami-Lynn (Jessica Barth), and there seems to be romance blooming between them.

Meanwhile, Ted's fame and being alive seems to have caught the attention of a sinister man named Donny (Giovanni Ribisi), who has been stalking Ted since his rise to fame, and promised his son that he would give him the bear.

Considering that this is an R-Rated comedy by Seth MacFarlane, it is crude, but not as visually crude as what you would see in most Seth Rogen comedies. There are many penis jokes, drugs jokes, and sex jokes galore for the oldest and most crudest of audiences to enjoy. MacFarlane proves that he has brought something to the R-Rated comedy category, while it may not be as crude as I thought, it still is very funny, and had me laughing from start to finish.

Some of the jokes do get a little out of hand from time to time. We often meet characters who are a little messed up to the point of non-existence, they are not believable, they are joke archetypes.

But other than that, one of the funniest films of 2012.… Expand

I'm not sure Ted's really the Teddy Bear I know all this time. Yes he's still cute and all that, but he's so rude, vulgar and really loves to get high. I was shocked, actually. Just don't understand why Seth tries to change the image of Teddy Bear? Well, maybe this is where the basic joke lays.
Btw, i don't really approve Mila and Mark as a couple here. They're like coming from a different generation to me… Expand

Não sei como tem gente que gosta desse filme. Além de ser de mau gosto, tem um roteiro horrível e uma história meio que fajuta.Só a cena final que salva, mas ela é bem extrapolada também.

Ted is a hysterically funny comedy that consistently delivers an abundance of side splitting jokes non stop, with scenes of comedy that last minutes on end before settling down for the next jokey segment; in particular the party scene with Flash Gordon. Pure comedy gold and somehow the chemistry between Marky Mark and a CGI teddy bear seems more convincing and genuine than most real actors on screen. I would give this film an 8.5/10 really but i'm going to have to go up to a 9/10 just because this film has a special place in my (immature) heart… Expand

Seth MacFarlane's first outing to the silver screen is one of confused clutter, his raunchy entertaining sense of humor buried in a sea of awkward unconvincing drama. Ted is not a comedy. TedTed, ironically has very little Ted in it.

Seth MacFarlane's first outing to the silver screen is one of confused clutter, his raunchy entertaining sense of humor buried in a sea of awkward unconvincing drama. Ted is not a comedy. Ted himself is merely the comic relief in a bland drama about a remarkably generic roommate named "John".

When John was a child, he wished on Christmas Day that his new Teddy Bear would come to life and be his friend. The film makes a turn for the parody with an admittedly very funny first half hour. However this is quickly seen to be short lived. The film's focus is around John having to kick Ted out of his apartment to focus on his relationship with his succubus girlfriend "Laura or Lori or something or rather I honestly barely recall". This means that after the first bit of fan service, featuring nearly every scene shown in the trailers the film gets misleading and shifts focus off of its title character in favor of an unfunny couple who simply do not have chemistry. They are not cute, they are not funny and they unfortunately pave the road for what the film is.

Depressing.

I'm not kidding. Literally everything past the forty minute mark is just awkward drama about some guy trying to break things off with his roommate and it follows the tropes so closely that it's impossible to get invested. Ted is the only likable character, if anything because he gets a few laughs in the few precious minutes he's actually on screen (being an expensive CG character the film chooses not to put him on screen any time they don't have to in favor of much cheaper live action). Ted's humor itself isn't exactly sharp, but it's just goofy and foul enough to get a few laughs for the trailer. Past that though it's just an awkward hour of people complaining about growing up, sad music playing, shots of people in the rain, a disappointing subplot to shoehorn in a climax and a seemingly endless barrage of celebrity humor most of which doesn't make sense.

Ted's sad, alright? It's a sad, depressing movie and every second past forty minutes you're less concerned with laughing at the bear, and more concerned with the bland protagonist just getting his life together or, better yet, moving back in with the damn bear so we can laugh again. It's so-so acting, a predictable script, incredibly fleeting moments of actual comedy and a generally tedious, albeit well animated when Ted himself is onscreen picture that simply isn't gripping enough to make you care. If you really want to see the raunchy comedy, just fast forward the first forty minutes on netflix to the scenes with the actual bear in them. Or better yet, just watch Team America or American Dad. If you're in it for the drama on growing up, go for Toy Story 3.… Expand

Ok, I'll admit it has some funny pranks. Also, it's pretty cool the use of the bad words. But besides that, the movie has a little lame acting, some poor jokes, overreacting to many things, and it's very cliched in many aspects. I liked it,Ok, I'll admit it has some funny pranks. Ted is a comedy film written and directed by Seth MacFarlane, starring Mark Wahlberg, Mila Kunis and Seth MacFarlane (as Ted's voice). I was so pumped for this movie and I had very high expectations. Unfortunately, it wasn't as good as I thought. Ted squanders its potential with an uneven, weirdly written script. The simple fact of being a movie about a talking bear is interesting, but this bear is a douchebag and I don't like his voice; MacFarlane's voice is so annoying, his voice just doesn't match with the likable appearance of the bear. As we go, the black humor was tedious, although I'm pretty sure that a huge part of the audience will enjoy the tone of the movie. To me... it's just a too vulgar film.

On the upside, the opening scene is fantastic, very enjoyable and quite touching. I also liked a scene near the last act where Ted and Mark Wahlberg's character are fighting each other, it was hilarious. There's another funny scene where Mila Kunis' character has to lift a piece of crap, and I found it wickedly funny! The special effects are great, the bear looks realistic and its design is so well done. I laughed and had fun with Ted, but I can't say that is a good film! Ted is just a well-acted romantic comedy that has its moments, some of them astonishingly funny. I also liked most of the characters, the cinematography and the camera work. Also, the musical score is jazzy and quite pleasant.

I really wanted to love Ted, but its story is kinda uninteresting and some of the jokes are horrendously offensive. It had potential for being a great PG rated film, but come on... it's directed by Seth MacFarlane, so there will be a lot of profanity and blasphemy in it. It works as a romantic comedy, but it is a very vulgar one to me. The script is filled with boring pop culture references and racist gags. I just can't take this movie seriously. Also, the ending is very silly and predictable. It is a comedy for a very specific audience, I'm sure that fans of MacFarlane's previous work will be satisfied with this one. Anyway, I still give it credit because at least there's chemistry between the characters and it made me laugh at times. [C]… Expand

The concept of Ted is something only Seth MacFarlane would come up--and rightfully so, he'd be the only man to make it work. It certainly does. I'd recommend lessening some of the profanity to allow the audience to better connect.

I have always enjoyed Seth MacFarlane's sense of humor and in Ted, it's simply oozing Family Guy. While many find the sophomore humor and swearing in Ted rude and childish, I think it's laugh out loud funny. I admit it. Another bad thing is that the ending could have been more entertaining, because it was a little to "serious" ending, but also that the movie is way more funnier in the first half of the movie, which decreased in the second part.

I would give this movie a 8/10, if it had more unserious humor in the second half of the movie. But I really recommend this movie for everyone that loves Family Guy´s unserious humor!

I fail to see what so many people find funny about this movie. As a former fan of both American Dad and Family Guy I had high hopes for this movie, especially because the trailers looked hilarious. Unfortunately I found that 99% of the moviesI fail to see what so many people find funny about this movie. As a former fan of both American Dad and Family Guy I had high hopes for this movie, especially because the trailers looked hilarious. Unfortunately I found that 99% of the movies funny material is in the trailer. This is a movie that tries to get by on vulgarity alone. It's like Seth MacFarlane is hoping that you'll ignore how unnecessarily vulgar this movie is and laugh at it just because a teddy bear is the one doing these crude and painfully unfunny things.

As far as the plot goes it's a tale about growing up mixed with both a rom-com and a bromance flick. An interesting combination to say the least, but the shear unbridled obscenity of the "humor" drowns out any hint of sentimentality this movie might have had. I don't mind vulgar humor as long as it's funny, and I just can't view this movie as funny. To me it's like Seth MacFarlane had so much pent up dirty humor inside him that he couldn't unleash on one of his TV shows, that he just decided to cram as much of it as he could into a movie with out any thought or care about whether or not it was actually funny.

I found this to be a colossal waste of my time and the film never got anything more from a chuckle from me. I don't personally recommend it, but you might be like a lot of the other people out there who enjoyed the film. All I can say is that I found the film to be vulgar just for the sake of being vulgar, and was willing to sacrifice humor in order to be so. Clearly there's something to like here as so many people have enjoyed the movie. In my personal opinion this movie isn't funny. In the end all I can do is just give you my opinion and tell you to do with that information what you will. Like I said I didn't enjoy the movie, but many people did. The film is filled with bad words and puns, so many that you'll stop caring and just laugh: in a way, it's a silly movie that really doesn't improve anything, but it's made for good laughs.

However, I gotta admit I also loved for its morals, because Ted, despite being a drug addict and basically a vulgar bear, it's actually a good "guy" and loves his friend more than anything. Even the main protagonist John is very good and likeable despite being a drug addict too but you'll see his good intentions and actual love for his girlfriend AND friend Ted: it's rare to find good characters with flaws, since they tend to overdo on the flaw side and make them annoying as hell. And all of this to show basically a lot of teachings: the fact that you can have flaws but still be a very good guy, that people easily judge on the surface and for actions (the fact that the girlfriend wants him to choose between him, or the bear is hilarious if you think about it). And most importantly, how we have to move on from our childhood and stop acting as so...but to not totally forget who we were and to actually remind us that "we were kids and we will always have a part of that inside us".

Perfect to have a good time. A light movie with an interesting idea that will make to laugh at times. It gets better as the movie progresses, which is always good. Here we have John Bennett, played by Mark Wahlberg (while he isn't winning any Oscars, he does good comedies), who is stuck in a boyish state of mind, because he's lived his whole life with a teddy-bear. He grew up with Teddy as his only friend, and thus feels a loyalty to him. Yet, he also is 4 years into with Lori (Mila Kunis), and she wants him to grow up. We have a fresh and original story here! You constantly see romantic comedies and women who want men to grow up, and how in the end the man somehow becomes a true man and it's a happily ever after story. However, here we have a fresh look at it. Not only that, but the supporting characters are great. John's boss is hilarious, Ted's girlfriend is great, and the scenes with Flash Gordon are so funny. Is it groundbreaking? No. Will it change your life? Of course not. Is it vulgar? Yes. However, if you want to have a good time with friends while also watching a quality movie that will make you laugh but also hits home emotionally? Ted is the best comedy of 2012, and maybe the best comedy of the decade (so far).… Expand

This movie looked somewhat good as if it were something like Paul which I enjoyed. But after I saw it in theaters, I was extremely disappointed. It had a poor unoriginal plot, unoriginal jokes, and was no where near remember able. You thinkThis movie looked somewhat good as if it were something like Paul which I enjoyed. You think it could be OK for about 10 minutes into the movie but then it gets to the point where you want to leave the theater. It had the comedy of an immature 9 year old. I don't understand why so many people enjoyed when it was incredibly bad. It was a 2 hour Family Guy episode. Now, I somewhat enjoy Family Guy and you can accept it for some of it's bad jokes but when it's turned into a movie, you just want to ask Seth Macfarlane what the hell was he thinking.… Expand

So, was it worth my while investing 106 minutes of my life on this one? I have to say, on balance; not really. Yes there are some wonderfully comic moments and smart one-liners in there but I did find it drifted far too much from the sublimeSo, was it worth my while investing 106 minutes of my life on this one? I have to say, on balance; not really. Yes there are some wonderfully comic moments and smart one-liners in there but I did find it drifted far too much from the sublime to the ridiculous. Also, one minute Ted is ‘Brian’ for Family Guy and the next he turns into ‘Peter Griffin’ from the same show (despite his denials). I thought both Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis did a good job; both of their characters were quite believable. Ultimately though I did find it lacked the one thing it so desperately needed; heart. Still, I’m sure the many devotees of ‘Family Guy’ will love this one but for me, sadly, it’s a bit of a dud.

SteelMonster’s verdict: NOT RECOMMENDED (…unless you’re a really big fan of Family Guy, in which case why haven’t you seen it yet!)

Ted is a great movie. It's a film that anyone of any age can enjoy because it has a good story which is easy to follow, well directed and funny. The right actors were chosen, the length is perfect and it's never boring throughout. OK so maybeTed is a great movie. Seth McFarlane's first motion picture is everything you'd expect from Seth. It's humorously raunchy and has a great ensemble of actors like Mark Whalberg, Mila Kunis, and of course, Seth McFarlane. Ted feels like just another MacFarlane cartoon. Except, it's not a cartoon, and that is really what's wrong with it. This movie clearly demonstrates just how unfamiliar MacFarlane is with making a real life movie. It'S one sketch cutting toTed feels like just another MacFarlane cartoon. Except, it's not a cartoon, and that is really what's wrong with it. This movie clearly demonstrates just how unfamiliar MacFarlane is with making a real life movie. It'S one sketch cutting to the next. Over and over. until the movie ends. Faaaar to many 80s referencesconsidering the traget audience is more familiar with the 90s. BUT, that's where my criticism ends. Ted is extremely fun to watch and all of the characters just are so well presented and likable. Ted is basically just Peter Griffin as a teddy bear, just slightly smarter.

Overall:
Ted is a fun movie to watch and it will have you laughing. While the direction is a bit rough around the edges, it is MacFarlane's first full live action movie so it can be forgiven for that.… Expand

This is literally one of the funniest movies I ever watched. I pissed my pants through the whole movie and laughed so hard that Ted is awesome. Ted is not a disappointing movie nor a ''ok'' movie, its pure awesome and funny. I love the TwoThis is literally one of the funniest movies I ever watched. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Ted is every single thing a Family Guy fan wants, and its also for people who don't like Family Guy. So, this movie is about Johnny who wishes his teddy to come to life. And when Teddy comes alive he becomes a international sensation and a best friend to his master, but eventually Teddy grows up and changes happen. Big changes. Johnny meets a girl and hangs with her for 4 years and now she wants marriage and Teddy has to move out. Teddy gets wild with his scrounged life and expects Johhny to join it. But his girlfriend is very serious about family business. And so, this crazy wild romp ride gets in sugarplum in its plot. Ted is the best comedy of 2012 and maybe the best ever made. Why should you watch it? Because its damn funny. I love Ted, it's a new creation that Seth McFarlane has created with a mix of wild condiments and, hey! Mila Kunis! The farty jokes were compelling and funny, the acting was great probably the best of 2012. Ted Is Real.… Expand

There is some really funny moments here, but I thought that it could have been funnier. Mark Wahlberg continues to prove he has the ability to be great in comedies, but I still preferred The Other Guys.

Even though Ted is a Seth MacFarlane movie, I was hesitant to see it. A thirty year old guy who lives with his foul mouthed teddy bear?! I was expecting another Paul, but MacFarlane isn't British, and THIS film was hysterical. Ted is aEven though Ted is a Seth MacFarlane movie, I was hesitant to see it. A thirty year old guy who lives with his foul mouthed teddy bear?! I was expecting another Paul, but MacFarlane isn't British, and THIS film was hysterical. Ted is a raunchy real life living teddy bear, who combines the traits of every MacFarlane character. It was pretty awesome, sometimes you saw him as Peter, other times Brian, and so on. The real surprise of this film was Mark Wahlberg. I can't remember ever seeing him in a comedy and I wasn't sure his rather dry personality would work with MacFarlane's brand of humor, but he fit in like he's been doing this for years. I mean he was Marky Mark, he must have some personality in there somewhere! As for the story, it's not much different than a really good episode of Family Guy. Of course, it a lot more raunchy and it's not animated, but there are certainly many parallels, and defiantly some hysterical lines. It's not the kind of film I usually go for, at points, it's more than a little stupid, but I'd be lying if I didn't say I laughed my ass off throughout the film.… Expand

To me Ted is one of the best examples of a typical Hollywood comedy. I think most people got to see it because it's Seth McFarlane who made it. I DID enjoy the movie but that's just because it's somehow entertaining. Same as The Hangover, Paul and Due Date, I think this movie is just, okay. Just as lame and predictable as most of this kind, but yet, it's enjoyable. And actually there wasn't any moment where I expected it to be more than just enjoyable. Definitely not as funny as Family Guy (most of the time) is, but way less awful than the unnecessary spin-off "The Cleveland Show". If you're chilling with some friends, drinking a cold beer of whatever, go watch it. You'll probably laugh a couple of times. But you're wasting your time if you're expecting a strong and original comedy.… Expand

Ted is a decent movie at best, and I mean at the very best. I don't really like Seth's cartoons such as family guy but decided to give this a chance. If you are a fan of Family or Judd Apatow films you will be entertained by this one. However, if you are looking for comedy gold, you should probably look elsewhere. Best enjoyed with a group of guys at least 3-4 drinks in when you turn it on.

This movie is a great comedy. It is very dirty minded so if you don't like that then stay away from it. Definitely recommend watching it. BTW it isn't a kids movie just because there is a teddy bear.

I really didn't want to like this movie, we all knew it would be pop-cultured Family Guy jokes that we had heard before...it was...but it was still funny.

A young child makes a wish that his teddy bear will come to life, so that they can be best friends forever.
27 years later, the grown up John (the return of COMEDIC Mark Whalberg, seriously, why does this guy not do more comedies?) is living with his has been, drug-riddled bear 'Ted' (vocied by director and writer Seth MacFarlane) who spends his day smoking and drinking an watching TV, doesn't sound funny? Well its really the chemistry that Whalberg can have with something that isn't actually there, that is impressive and credit to him, but the constant back and forth between the two, talking about Flash Gordon, rightfully dissing Adam Sandler, but most of all, the film simply keeps throwing more and more towards you, never taking its foot off the throttle, sure, its a typical tale of a guy's best friend being in the way of a blossoming relationship with a girl (played by the beautiful Mila Kunis) but its the absurdity of the situation that makes it that much more entertaining.
It is perhaps the crude jokes that are the funniest, but what needs to be remembered is this is MacFarlane at the helm, its his duty and probably favourite pastime is to poke fun at the ridiculous world we live in..and why not to it through a Peter Griffin-sounding plush bear? (Yes, this is referenced in the film)
It's not a brilliant piece of cinema, but if you know Seth MacFarlane's mind and you know what he is setting out to do, this could be the most enjoyable film of 2012, there even does come a time when emotion can be felt from the film, it definitely has an original twist on a familiar story, but absolutely worth a look… Expand

Now before you read this I would like you to know I am not a fan of family guy.

Just like Seth McFarlane's completely unoriginal Family Guy, Ted dares its critics to lambast the movie and when they do, they are accused of being "unhip" or "too sensitive." I saw this movie in the summer and enjoyed the first ten minutes of the movie, when it maintained some sense of originality. Then it devolved into an hour and a half Family Guy or American Dad episode. Each joke less memorable than the one before it. Throughout the movie I couldn't help but feel sorry for Mila Kunis. (Maybe McFarlane has something on her and blackmailed her into starring?) And Mark Wahlberg played a completely unlikable loser. You don't want him to get the girl. Teenagers and 10-year-old boys will enjoy this movie because they enjoy anything that is crass. It makes them feel older and more powerful. Maybe that's what McFarlane's motivation behind his work is?… Expand

I guess this "Seth" guy does TV shows. He should stick to that vehicle and stay away from cinema, which is obviously beyond his intellectual capability.… Expand

Ted seemed to be a good movie, although the idea is very interesting and original, because nobody could possibly think in another use for a teddy bear than a toy for a little child. The director, Seth MacFarlane, obviously used his experienceTed seemed to be a good movie, although the idea is very interesting and original, because nobody could possibly think in another use for a teddy bear than a toy for a little child. The director, Seth MacFarlane, obviously used his experience for creating this story in which a kid with no friends grows up with ted, entering both to a world of parties, sex and drugs. The problem is that the protagonist is now an adult with a girlfriend (asking for marriage) and a job, but he still has ted, with the exception that now it is promiscuous and a very bad influence. The film consists in funny situations about this couple and how it breaks with the adult world. The problem with this picture is that the jokes and situations are very weakly constructed and with the simplicity of a child. At no time this movie made me laugh, even more, I got bored. The story is poor and predictable, the performances are disgusting and the direction is awful, however how you cannot expect a complex humor from the guy who created Family Guy. Is shallow, is repetitive, is Ted-ious.… Expand
