Also, the movie's got a great story and it shows how Travis (Robert De Niro) starts off being quite a clever guy and starts to get insanely mental throughout the movie. Finally, the camera work is amazing throughout this movie and I know it's one of those little things but I really liked the style of clothes which the characters wore throughout this movie. I actually thought the dialogue was pretty good and it didn't feel forced at any moment throughout and I like how it builds up to the action in this movie. Also, that ending is brilliant and I didn't expect anything like that at all. Overall, it's a great movie with good acting, brilliant camera work, a few little laughs throughout and a great story, it's honestly worth the watch. Expand

A Timeless Classic, the inner workings of a Young Broken Man followed by loneliness all his life and the dangers it could unleash on Society, exploring the inner mechanisms of some of the minds that are roaming our own streets.

The epotome of Scrocese's direction and De Nico's acting. Story and screenplay and very strong. The nding 20 minutes are just fabulous. It will make you restless and also blooming with a mixture of contrasting feelings. Brilliant work. 9.45/10

Seriously though, I really liked it. We definitely watched it to prep for Joker and this film did not disappointing. This film is just as, if not more, relevant now as it was on release. This portrait of transformation of a mentally unstable nice guy into a full-on incel is haunting without championing such a transformation as righteous. You know Deniro's character has something wrong with him from the start. All it takes is one person to show him a supposed outlet for his anger and frustration. Because he lacks the capacity to distinguish said influence from others, he is drawn to it. Give it a watch if you haven't seen it. Expand

Brilliant direction by Scorsese and brilliant OST by Herrmann. Travis' evolution during the film is sooo good, and I personally choose this one over Raging Bull.

A great psychological thriller. You can enjoy it even if you don't like the lead character or agree with his actions.

The great direction by Martin Scorsese making the plot feel real and lead character's world come alive mixed with Robert De Niro and Jodie Foster's stellar acting taking their characters to a whole other level makes this one of the best movie ever made.

Scorsese's "Taxi Driver" is a masterful piece of work that serves as a 1970's innovation in atmosphere depiction and character deterioration.
On a side note, I'd originally disagreed with the ending of this picture. After some careful thought recollection, I'd come to realize that it is a brilliant conclusion because Scorsese makes it horrifically true that the behaviour of his titular character is a repeated cycle amongst those, in reality, who are just like him on a rational level. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Taxi Driver should be repellent, grim and ugly. Through Scorsese's lens, Travis Bickle's emotionally nocturnal saga from helpless observer to pitilessly efficient dispenser of justice is genuinely compelling and distinctive, one of the finest stories committed to celluloid. In fact, as a pure screenplay this might be the most accomplished piece of writing in the entire history of film. De Niro's lead performance is complex, convincing and disarmingly persuasive, allowing us to see the flaws and cracks in Travis' psyche while also inviting us to sympathize and (scarily) empathize with his rapidly evolving obsessions. Very few films approach such grim, disturbing subject matter with this level of care and attention to detail - Scorsese's deft, personable touch allows the film to be genuinely moving even as it unsettles. Aspiring film students should be required to watch this film in order to understand the importance of plot, tone, and characterization; although, as recent history has proven, Taxi Driver is simply inimitable. It's hard to imagine a filmmaker successfully providing such a dream-like, startlingly impressionistic approach to such lurid and openly upsetting material, or an actor inhabiting a role like Travis' with more skill or finesse. Taxi Driver is a masterpiece - a film experience that is truly one-of-a-kind. Expand

Constantly surrounded by what he perceives as ugliness around him, the taxi cab allows him to observe the world but from a distance. Travis desperately wants to change the world into a place where actions are organic and not done with harmful intent, in a sense he wants to throw away what he views as the waste matter. In his eyes there is the world as how it can be, but there are far too many rotten apples not just in New York but also as he's experienced from his time at war in Vietnam. It is not so much a movie about alienation in my eyes but rather about a man trying to come to terms with a society to which he feels out of place and doesn't seem to understand. Expand
