Summary:
Set on the eve of the 1971 war between India and Pakistan, the members of the Noble family in tension-filled Bombay vehemently disagree about what to do when an old friend, a soldier who'd abruptly disappeared, finally contacts them, only to ask a dangerous favor. Parsi Gustad Noble's (Seth) apparently close-knit family is held together precariously, their fraying bonds mirroring their once genteel, deteriorating housing compound.
