This honestly could 've been so much better. A film about Stalingrad would have you believe that it's about the battle itself. However, that is sadly not the case. Instead, it focuses more on a handful of Russian soldiers trying to protect this young woman whom they all happen to fall in love with. Also, it focuses WAY too much on slow motion action to the point where everything looks forced and ridiculous. It also felt a hair too long. Overall, it had a decent story and acting, but this movie really would've been better off detailing the actual war rather than just trying to come up with something new.… Expand

Has some great visuals and decent acting but the plot comes apart a bit at the end.

I hate movies with subtitles, but I stll made it through this since it was a war movie. Also the story is pretty interesting. Watching how people lived through a war zone that looked like Hell on Earth.

I accidentaly watched this movie because there's also a German movie (a much better one) carrying the same name.

I think it's necessary to mention that this movie is produced by Russia 1, which is essentially owned by the russian government. Make of that what you will, but it isn't a positive in my book.
The movie itself is pretty average, a lot of action with forgettable characters who all, for some reason, want to "hang out" with a young woman (I don't know, if she was underage or already an adult) who is trapped in a building in Stalingrad getting assaulted by the Germans during WWII. It's not really boring, but also not really fun to watch, also it's an intense glorification of war which makes sense in that context I guess, but seeing characters who have no drive other than to "Follow orders and fight for the motherland" gets laughable pretty quickly.… Expand

Bolstered with superb special effects, Stalingrad is what every war film should be on a technical level; intriguing, gritty, violent, and merciless, yet fails to be anything more.
