Now Spidey is in the MCU, where he belongs. Spider-Man: Homecoming was both funny and action-y, for lack of a better word. You'll enjoy watching Spidey crack jokes, and fight the Vulture as he learns from his mentor, Iron Man (or Tony Stark). You also see peter struggle to be Spider-Man during his Sophomore year in high school. Peter's best friend is no longer Harry Osborn, as it is Ned. His crush is not Mary Jane Watson or Gwen Stacy, as his crush is Liz. In addition, Aunt May now looks like an aunt, not Peter's grandma. In conclusion, Spider-Man: Homecoming is a movie I would recommend to both Spider-Man fans and action fans. Now go watch it! Expand

As with all Marvel movies these days there is nothing here that will really surprise those who have followed the franchise but with its mix of humour (That captures the character far better than the Andrew Garfield versions) and spectacular action sequences it is entertaining from start to finish, and that’s all one can really ask. Although I am a big Marvel fan, Spider-man has always lacked excitement from me. The backstory, like Batman, has been overdone poorly multiple times. Spider-Man: Homecoming blew my mind by the quality of the movie. Since it assumes that the viewers know Peter Parker's backstory, it is able to jump right into the story line after Civil War. This movie has a great 1980's high school/ love story feel that everyone loves. The actors themselves were cast perfectly. Tom Holland, Zendaya and Laura Harrier were great in their roles and had great chemistry on screen. Jacob Batalon was the perfect person to play Peter Parker's best friend. You can sense the off-screen friendship throughout the entire movie.

Michael Keaton was, of course, great as well. Coming into this movie, I was afraid he was going to steal the show from all of the young actors. Although Keaton's performance was fantastic, Holland held his own.

This movie had very little flaws, in my opinion. It never felt like the movie dragged. The movie made me excited to see what they will do next with Holland and Zendaya. With her as MJ, events will start to spark in the next installment. I would give this movie a solid 9.75, which is the highest rating I have given. I think it is the best Marvel Superheros movie that has been put out so far.

...oh and Robert Downey Jr. was great reprising his Iron Man role. Set the next Avengers movie up nicely. Now... go see it!!!

The story is really well presented with better humor. Especially toward the end of the movie but also because it does reflect a lot about being adolescent. Peter is younger and surely wants to prove himself. The FX are spot on and I though the costume was more intricate. Some actions scenes were a bit fast, and I am not sure the plane scene was that good. It felt like a flashy discotheque somehow. The acting is very good. I was surprise at how good the young actors were. Keaton is sublime. Downey does a fantastic job, and Holland is in control. I can't wait for the next one, hopefully we will have the same director. A pretty solid 'grounded' spider-man film which deconstructs everything about teenage Peter Parker in a coming of age narrative, similar to John Hughes films like Ferris Bueller's Day Off and Sixteen Candles.

Finally finding his way to the MCU has managed to keep things fresh despite so many movies having already been made about him. Particularly because of the new angle on the character and some surprisingly welcome changes to classic elements and the supporting cast. Taking Peter Parker back to high-school and having him be a younger, more inexperienced version of Spider-Man that we haven't seen before is great. Being set in the MCU gives us more background as to how Spider-Man works in a world already populated by other, bigger heroes like we would find in the comics. Something that was missing from all of the other movies based on the character.

Homecoming is fast, funny, charming, and features a winning performance from Tom Holland as the popular web-head. The action is spectacular and the stakes are so much more grounded than the world-ending disasters the rest of the MCU's heroes have to deal with. A good thing as this scale is just perfect for the character and something the fans have wanted to see for some time. The movie even delivers the MCU's best villain yet. Moviegoers have been complaining about how stale the villains have been getting in superhero movies for a while now. Well, Micheal Keaton's Vulture does quite a bit to alleviate some of that frustration. His motives are relatable and his operation is more personal. The Vulture is given time to breath as a character and as a result he's the best villain a superhero movie has had since Nolan's Batman trilogy. Plus Keaton is just fantastic.

Homecoming manages to breath some new life into a character we've already seen onscreen quite a few times. It does so by going back to basics with Parker and delivering the character many of us grew up with in the comics. Of course it's own spins on things and a sharp sense of humor help out a lot as well and keep things from being too familiar. Essentially, this is just about everything a Spider-Man fan could want. It's great to see the character in the MCU where all of us wanted him. 8.5/10

Basically Spiderman:Homecoming was fun, this is a really fun movie and it is one of the best Spider man movies ever made.

Before Sony shared the rights for Spiderman with Marvel I've always wondered what it would be like for Marvel Studios to direct a Spiderman movie and when I saw this movie I was completely satisfied. Tom Holland's performance as Spiderman is just Wow,I hate saying this because Tobey Maguire's Spiderman to me is my favorite but Tom Holland is the best Spiderman we've had so far.His Peter Parker is the right kind of nerdy but he witty, awkward and assertive at times which is the perfect blend. His performance as Spiderman is equally impressive because he is funny but serious when needed to be which is just great.

Now obviously what makes movie different is that this I not an origin story but also this movie isn't as dramatic as the Spiderman films before this which is good because this movie's tone is near perfect for a spiderman movie. This movie has good comedy from character lines to just funny moments and is the funniest Spiderman movie so far. Also as I said Spiderman:Homecoming is really fun,it's lighter tone is needed because this is a movie about a kid in highschool being a Superhero and the movie clearly explains what its like to balance the highschool aspect of the movie and Superhero theme.

The scale of this movie is also small as Homecoming isn't about a city being destroyed but about stopping thieves how are selling dangerous weapons and Spiderman has to stop them which was perfect for. A high school movie. Most Characters are good in this movie like Ned who is Peter's best friend has good chemistry between them and Ironman was good because he showed up were he was needed and didn't were he wasn't and had some great emeotionalt scenes with Spiderman which helped drive the story forward.

Now the villain,Michael Keaton's Vulture I must say wasn't really a villain in this movie but an antagonist mostly as you understand his reasons for being the Vulture and he is a person who cares for his family so when there was a plot that involved him and Spiderman facing off you get why and where its going. Other characters were good and necessary like Peter's Rival Flash Thompson who was funny and not just a stereotypical bully,Also Zendeya's character was funny and Peter's love interest had something significant to do and added to the story more that just being a love interest for Spiderman.

The problems with this film is that Aunt May is just plain Marisa Tomei's performance wasn't bad but I felt she didn't add anything significant to the movie and even when there was an attempt for an emotional scene with Tom Holland it didn't stick. Also I have to say the final battle between Spiderman and Vulture is disapointing and underwhelming as the action is the final act falls flt and the conclution is abrupt and just plain.

What i found very interesting about this movie is just this movie felt like an adventure, comedy and action film at different parts of the movie and the balance was spot on.The chase scenes where suspensful and exciting, every time Tom Holland was Spiderman it was a joy to watch and one important thing is that I never got bored watching this flim. The suit did some really cool stuff without saying too much and the emotional arcs in this movie were well delivered and perfectly timed.

Spiderman Homecoming was like a breath of fresh air it was fun, funny, emotional when needed and just a really good movie

I suppose a logic complaint could be made about how the boat scene got wrapped up, but this is a movie - a superhero/comic book movie - logic doesn't always have to pervade. The originals were great but they never had comedy which that is what Spider-Man is. The action scenes were great and very fun. Michael Keaton finally along with Jeff Bridges finally gives some kind of villain in the marvel films. That's until Josh Brolin's Thanos becomes relevant. I like that the film is mostly school and it shows Peter is just an average person like everyone. Now I think smaller kids will be turned off by this. They will probably be bored. As for the rest of us I think it brings a nice pace and realism to Spider-Man. I do think some things could of been handled better like the bigger set pieces. It felt like no one and nothing was really in actual harm, but overall I did like it and recommend everyone to see it. Expand

Tom Holland kills it not only as the webhead, but as Peter Parker as well. He portrays the character as an everyday school kid who just so happens to have superpowers that he uses to help people in need. THAT'S Spider-Man, and Holland plays the character so well that I'm not going to be able to see him as anybody else now. Michael Keaton also is incredible as The Vulture; he's easily the best MCU villain to date. A motivation, excellent acting, a chilling appearance, ol' Batman has it all. Spider-Man: Homecoming at heart is a high school movie, having a lot more downtime with Parker than any other Spidey movie. Here, it's done beautifully, actually giving us some reason to care about him as a character; he's a nerd, he's socially awkward, he's part of a quiz bowl team, he has a high school crush, he reminded me a lot of myself! That's what I didn't like about Andrew Garfield's portrayal; I just couldn't relate to him and I didn't care about him unless he was in his suit. Here, I cared so much if Peter could balance living a normal life and being a superhero. The characterization of Spider-Man in this movie is fantastic, and while I personally think Tobey Maguire is better, Tom Holland still nails this role, and he his the strongest part of this movie. The action scenes for the most part are fun; they're not as exciting as Sam Raimi's Spider-Man movies, but they're enjoyable and fun to watch. Spidey **** happens, and Holland gets to crack some jokes without ever feeling unnecessary or formulaic. As for issues, despite benefiting a lot from showing Peter as a high-school student, the pacing drags considerably, and there were moments where I just wasn't engaged. Also, as previously mentioned, I felt like the action scenes could have been better; they're not bad, but I just wanted a bit more intensity and weight to them like in Raimi's action scenes. But overall, despite the spread of dull moments, It's the characterization and craft and tone that make this movie better than most Spider-Man movies. It's full of heart, excellently casted, and very well-acted, and I would highly recommend it. Not the best Spidey movie, but the best one since '02.

Tom Holland puts in a good performance however I didn't think he was very memorable. The action scenes are pretty great as well. They aren't as dazzling as Amazing Spider man 2 or as tense as Spider Man 2, but they all serve their purpose and were enjoyable to watch. The last one in particular was amazing imo, but I'm not going to spoil it.

Other than that, the movie looked great, with some good cinematography, great acting all around, and a fantastic villain that is much better then most Marvel movies. A must watch for sure.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Another solid movie for the MCU. Right from intro the Spiderman theme is playing and you know we've got another hit on our hands. Movie is brilliantly paced and Tom gives us a great peter who's both intelligent, superhuman but very human at the same time. The suit looks amazing and very practical and the AI adds to Spiderman's character. Michael Keaton does an amazing job convincing the audience his motivations and the Vulture suit is just grand in design making for a memorable MCU villian. The fight/action scenes are truly enjoyable and this movie can be watched multiple times over. It doesn't feel like a Marvel movie and yet it makes you feel it's part of the MCU. Lastly Tony has just the right amount of involvement and doesn't overstay his welcome. It leaves the audience wanting more in Spiderman 2 and the Infinity war. Expand

If it was just another typical marvel film, I would have given this film a 3 or maybe even a 2 and a half. Sure it has the comedy, the drama, and the hero saving the day. But there's something about it that felt different. Perhaps it's the first time we've seen a superhero movie where the student's high school life is actually a big part of the film, unlike the previous Spider-man films. There were a few parts in the movie that I didn't expect, but most of it had been predictable. The theme of "With great power comes great responsibility" seemed to be the basis for this film, and it's not that bad. I enjoyed watching Homecoming, because it felt somewhat like a coming-of-age film a little more than a superhero movie.

With a lot of baggage when it comes to spiderman (two ok, one good, one bad, one terrible) I wasn't sure what to expect from this one. But Marvel proves one more time that they can make great movies in spades. Spiderman: Homecoming does something that 5 previous movies hadn't been able to do: capture both the base spirit of the character, and really capture the spirit of part of the teenage experience (which for Hollywood, it's a lot). Apart from the Guardians's movies, this is probably the most times that I laughed out loud in a superhero movie (maybe even more that the Guardians, although can't be sure), the humor is excellent and really works with how the characters are portrayed. And even if the fun and laughs are present in general, that doesn't stop the movie from telling a good, coherent story about both the pains of growing up, and nails one of the core aspects of Spiderman, that even if he is in the Avengers, of the FF, or any other team or event, Spiderman is supposed to be a character you not only can root for, or aspire to be like, but is a character that you can relate to, a character that is here with the "little people" not up there in Olympus. And the movie really nails that aspect down, with excellent performance from Tom Holland that so far seems to be the best Spiderman so far. Add that excellent appearances by Robert Downey Jr., Jon Fravreau, and a nice villain in Michael Keaton's Vulture, and you have a really have a great homecoming dance. Welcome home, Spiderman, hopefully this is the beginning of great things to come. Final verdict: 9.0 Expand

The same Spider-Man!

After the film "Captain America: Civil War" everyone was waiting for the long awaited return of Spider-Man. Especially where his appearance was one of the memorable moments of the film. Marvel and Sony made an agreement that finally beneficial for us — we got the same spider-Man from the comics. Tom Holland suited for the role of a young and inexperienced Peter Parker. Believe me, if we have at least 3 of the film, we see the character development. Holland, though young, but plays very dignified and conveys all the emotions. Believe him. He is torn between his heroic life, and chooses a heroic life even, not because he wants to spend impression on Tony Stark, Peter just be himself — a hero. After watching the film, many were not satisfied with a large presence of non-white students. Peter Parker lives in Queens, there are so many "colored" people, so don't be surprised. Environment Peter good from his aunt to friend ned, though there are some silly scenes, and his love interest played awful. Tony Stark in this film are not so many and almost all the scenes shown in the trailer. Tom Holland looks great with Robert Downey, although the latter presses charisma in joint scenes. The film will be and happy, it put Tony stark to look after Peter, it will give us some funny scenes. Despite the fact that this movie is more about Peter Parker than Spider-Man, we got the canonical Spidey from the comics. Yes, he is: clever, brave, always joking, talking a lot. Only in the film, he has not yet experienced. Spider-man Tom Holland conveys the plasticity of the character, the humor, the fact that he likes to talk, besides his suit was there a lot of cool features. Villain the Vulture was played by the talented Michael Keaton. And it is a strong villain with a clear motivation (what is important). He is a villain not because he wants to take over the world or wandering aimlessly to kill everyone. No. He is a villain because there's no other way. He needs to take care of his family, provide for his wife and daughter, and the other way except robbery, he did not find. Empathize with him and understand that he is a victim, as they say "not we such, life such". His costume is cool! It combines comic book canons and manufacturability. In addition to the vulture showed Shocker, but it is very minor villain was. "Spider-Man: Homecoming" is one of the best films about Spider-Man. For some, it will be the best. In the film we get not only a confrontation between spider-Man and the Vulture, but the development of Peter Parker, his emergence as defender of the city. May we not seen another scene with the spider bite and the murder of uncle Ben. Let we many times saw them and know what's what. Humor is pleasing, the Vulture and spider-Man gorgeous, they are excellent rivals. The plot is ordinary, no surprises, probably at the end of the day you already don't remember what movie. It is light, and quickly disappears.

To clarify, I have seen all the prior films with Toby Maquire & Andrew Garfield. I found each film enjoyable for different reason, but as I left the theater I felt the most rewarded by the newest entry. I think Tom Holland was perfectly cast, as his age and demeanor felt right for the role. The film also benefited from the appearance of other established Marvel characters, leading to some enjoyable Easter eggs. I do understand that this film had a little bit of an advantage, as it did not have to show the audiences another origin story. I recommend the film to any Spiderman fans, or just fans of the overall Marvel Cinematic universe. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Ah, Spider-Man: Homecoming. An enjoyable film that I was so glad I watched. It's a great MCU film, but is weak as a Spider-Man film imo.
Removing elements from Peter's backstory seems better, but brings this at a disadvantage. They could've shown them in flashbacks... Because of this and Peter being close to Iron Man, I think of Spider-Man more as MCU's Iron Man Jr.Tom Holland is great as Peter Parker, but weak as Spider-Man. To me, this film would've worked if Spider-Man was replaced with a different hero.
Also, the villains are horrible. Vulture is great, but the rest suck. The first Shocker has a pointless subplot that lasts for less than a minute before he is killed, the second Shocker has no character development or personality, the Tinkerer is just an underutilized scientist sidekick, and Scorpion is a horrible cameo that doesn't do anything, especially because he isn't in Far From Home.
I know Sony messed up with The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but I wished they continued and gotten rid of some villain ideas. As for this film, it's definitely good, but isn't great and mostly lacks the identity as Spider-Man.

The Pros:

1) Good Action

2) Character Development

3) Michael Keaton The Main Villian (Vulture)

4) Very Funny

5) IRON MAN! (Then... there is Happy. I also love how Tony in this movie acted as a father towards Peter, I mean he does see him as a father figure.)

6) "Spider-Man Will Return"

7) The High Tech Webshooters & Suit's AI (I love the fact he has different combinations of webbing and how funny he interacted with his Suit's AI. By telling her about his crush and using her to pick different webbing, but... his webbing. We got to see taser webbing, rapid fire, spider tracers, etc.)

The Cons:

1) The Suit Along With The Tech 2) Where Was Spider-Man's Spider Sense?!

3) Character Motivation (A bunch of guys got fired and can't take a look around the area for Alien technology. I mean with skills like those to be able to make human technology work with Alien. The guys would easily find an easy job.)

4) Flash Thompson (I expected him to be very rude towards Peter in this movie. He didn't seem as menacing since all he did was make fun of him by not believing Spider-Man was Peters friend. And making fun of his name while being a DJ at Vulture's house... Bruh)

5) Weaker than the other Spider Men

A very good film to start Spider-Man's inclusion into the MCU.
The only problem is that they don' try and do something new, I loved the high school setting of the film, but when it comes to story and characters, it's Iron-Man all over again.

The Story itself is rather weak, your usual actionmovie plot we have these days. The Spiderman character was presented way better than in any other Spiderman movie before though. He was relatable and cool. Even the villain was amazing, you could clearly understand his motif and background, i loved that.
The one thing that convinced me with this movie though was the sounddesign, music and camerawork. The scene when her father drove her and Spiderman to the ball was so extremely intense and exciting that it had me biting my tongue. Very very amazing.

Tom Holland shines as Peter Parker, and he's surrounded by a cast of impressively talented young actors. They all have great chemistry with one another.

One of the biggest things going for the film, in addition to the pure sense of joy it strives toward, is its villain. Michael Keaton gives us one of the few deeply interesting antagonists in the MCU. The movie actually manages to surprise as well. There are a couple of moments that made my audience gasp, which is something I don't often experience with comic book films.

It all adds up to a joyful experience with a breezy pace, tons of hear, and genuinely well-realized characters that are almost absurdly likable. In terms of pure summer fun, this is probably the best you'll experience in 2017.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Spider-Man: Homecoming gives us something that we haven’t seen yet in the MCU so far: a youthful perspective, being that of a teenager. This is a breath of fresh air for Marvel fans, especially younger ones, since the overwhelming majority of characters we’ve been introduced to in the MCU have been adults or older. For a second reboot of the Spider-Man character, this one works incredibly well as it deviates from the formula that the original and first reboot followed. Tom Holland, a familiar face from Civil War, is also a great casting choice for Peter Parker, since he’s actually young and gives a great performance as an amateur superhero who wants to get involved in action that’s a bit out of his paygrade. Peter’s abilities may not be relatable to viewers, but his mindset definitely is: he’s dealing with problems that a lot of teenage boys go through, like school and girls, and trying to balance all of that with “extracurricular” commitments. This movie, like Civil War, also deals with the consequences of actions which contributions to the realistic and relatable nature of the film, although it does so on an appropriately smaller scale. It’s nice to see Tony Stark take a mentor/father figure position with Peter, as in Civil War he was more of a recruiter and it’s overall cool to see how Tony and Peter both change each other and progress as characters. Interactions between the two are likely some of the most down to Earth and relatable moments of the entire film. Michael Keaton’s Vulture is a unique villain for the film and one of the first times we’ve seen a villain be motivated by providing for their family and making ends meet, which gives viewers a villain they can sympathize for. Through all this, Homecoming might be the most relatable film in the entire MCU, both to younger viewers who are having these experiences and to older ones who’ve had them in the past. The only real fault of the movie is a timeline error that occurs right near the beginning which places the movie in a year that it can’t take place in. The error isn’t egregious but is easily noticeable and slightly disrupts the continuity of the MCU timeline. Spider-Man: Homecoming is not only a nice new direction for movies based on the character but is easy to connect to and I’d strongly recommend it to younger viewers. Expand

Fox movies though are often hit and miss. I have to say the movie is great. Tom Holland owns the role of Peter Parker. Michael Keaton is also just fantastic as the Vulture. Every scene he is in just pops off of the screen. Marisa Tomei is a great take on Aunt May. Robert Downey Jr. is his typical self, smarmy and sort of funny. In general the movie captured a good mixture of suspense, action, and humor. All of the background characters (with one exception) were amazingly well cast. Often times actors are playing rolls that don't make a lot of sense given their profiles (e.g. Donald Glover's cameo) but they are all shout outs to characters with bigger roles in the Spiderverse.

The only casting/plot character that I disliked was Zendaya as Michelle. Her character isn't funny. She is creepy and annoying as heck. She is basically stalking Peter, rude, and just sort of a nasty smarmy person. The reveal at the end that she is "MJ" is also just terrible. They positive press this is getting is just due to the fact that she isn't white. The media goes bonkers any time there is a "strong" female character or a white character is recast as non-white. Since when is "strong" code for snarky? I do not want to see her character get more screen time.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The first film of the second reboot series in the Spider-Man film franchise. Peter Parker is only 15 in this one and a sophomore in high school, just starting his career as Spider-Man. The film eschews the origin story and Uncle Ben is already gone leaving us with Marisa Tomei as a younger, sexier version of Aunt May. She is serviceable, but never the sagely dotard who imparts Peter with a sense of responsibility. We see Spidey websling around NYC and break up robberies and petty street crimes which is fun. Robert Downey Jr. returns as Tony Stark/Iron Man and serves as something of a mentor to Peter and offers some comic relief. Michael Keaton is cast as Adrian Toomes/the Vulture, the film's main antagonist, a salvager of weapons technology left scattered around New York carried over from the past Avengers adventures and electrical engineer turned into a criminal arms dealer after Stark industries shuts down his business. He dawns a green electromagnetic tailored body-harness with claw-like wingtips, and boot-mounted talons that grants him flight. It is later revealed in a plot twist that is he is the father of Liz Allan, Peter's girlfriend which was kind of interesting. The movie's mainly played up as a teen comedy set up against the backdrop of a superhero flick. Which is entertaining for what it's worth, but not as good as the original Raimi trilogy apart from maybe Spider-Man 3. It's better than the Amazing Spider-Man 2, but probably only on par with the Amazing Spider-Man. It tries to be woke by having a diverse cast and having mixed race actors in roles such as Liz Allan, Ned Leeds and Michelle Jones (or "MJ" as a nod to Mary Jane Watson) which is okay but a little distracting. Shocker is supposedly featured in the movie, but it would be easy not to notice as he isn't much like his comic book counterpart, doesn't wear a mask, and is played by two actors as two characters go by the mantra "the Shocker" in the movie. One is white and one is black. Only one is named Herman Shultz. Instead of wearing two gauntlets that shoot shock waves, he just uses something like a ray gun that emits shock waves. So it's a pretty lame version of the Shocker. Overall though, the movie is a pretty good entry into the Spider-Man film universe. Expand

Young & hungry to fight crimes!

No doubt, Tobey Maguire Spider-man is the best. It was also the first modern superhero of the millennium. The visual effects and entertainment wise, the second live-action Spider-man was good too, but this one is so different. This is about a teenage superhero. Just a kid. Having possessed such superpower, how he manages it alongside his normal life was nicely told.

This story begins straight away, because the introduction was done in the previous Marvel film, which are part of Avengers universe. Peter Parker assisted by Tony Stark, is very keen to fight small crimes compared to what Avengers fighting for. He feels, he's held back by Iron Man, so he wanted to make independent decisions. At one stage he succeeds in that, but things get more severe. Fighting bad guys, and the other side of his life, a romance, how the remaining story turns out are revealed with a twist.

Tom Holland was good. The story was simple, more like one liner. But the visuals and each scene forged nicely. Having seen all the five previous Spider-man films, this was quite predictable. Particularly the characters and their connections. Seeing how it had ended, it is possible that the daughter of the villain could take-over her father's place. That would be very interesting, because of the linkage between the film characters.

After seeing the first look, I was afraid that this young Spider-man might be overshadowed by Iron Man, but those parts really well done. Comparing it with the 15 years ago Spider-man, the technology has been the biggest change. That's why I still love Tobey Maguire film. Very simple and down to the earth without cell phones, computers. But the current superhero films are all alien oriented/connected theme, and of course digital technology a big leap. Hoping the next film too would impress us with the same intensity. So lets wait for summer 2019.

That being said, this is probably one of the weaker MCU movies out there. Too light on memorable action and too heavy on cornball humor. I get it, the gritty superhero movies of the the recent past have been done to death, but if there is one superhero that doesn't need additional characters for comic relief it's Spider-man. In this movie, nearly every secondary or tertiary character thinks they're comedians: Michelle, Nick, Flash, Tony Stark, Happy Hogan, The Vulture's tech guy, the Academic Decathlon teacher, the inexplicable Karen the Suit Lady, and even a little bit of Aunt May (though most of humor with her at the center focuses on "Ha, your aunt is hot *herr derr*). There isn't enough tension to warrant the attempts at all of the poorly written humor. Expand

Sure, I love the web-slinger, but I was just thinking "oh, great, another one." This was, of course, before I saw "Captain America: Civil War" and became excited for the film thanks entirely to Tom Holland's performance in the film. Having finally seen the film after months of hype, I can say that, in my humble opinion, this is my personal favorite Spider-Man film. I was so enthralled by the action, the performances (special shoutouts to Holland, Robert Downey Jr., Michael Keaton and Zendaya), the characters themselves, the writing, the visuals, everything. It was a really enjoyable film, and while it changes quite a few things in comparison to other Spider-Man movies, I think this is a good thing, because it helps the film to feel fresh, instead of just being another "Spider-Man" movie. If you've been itching to see "Spider-Man: Homecoming" and haven't gotten to, I highly recommend it. Expand

It fits in perfectly with the now established marvel universe that doesn't take it's self too seriously. The film uses the formula that made Gaurdians, Deadpool, Thor Ragnarok, Ant man and Dr Strange so cool. It's stylistic, funny and has some awesome action all held together with a fun soundtrack. The story flows well and there's never a dull scene. Spiderman and Peter Parker feel more like the early comic books and The Vulture makes a good antagonist. The only let down is the SJW nonsense that breaks the illusion. Now I get that in a modern high school you'd get kids who have been brainwashed into a cultural Marxist view point and would probably point out things like certain American monuments were built by slaves but some lines were really cringe worthy. Such as the teacher pointing out that 'protesting is a right'. The diverse cast is also a little strange. They literally have every race in a room at a time. The worst change is Flash becoming a dweeby Indian kid who is about as intimidating as baby groot! He doesn't fit at all. It was just a bit overkill. The film would have worked fine with the same cast bar Flash (at least chose a strong looking Indian guy!), dropping the social justice commentary and it would have been a fine example of how to tell a great story with a diverse cast. Aside from the annoying SJW nonsense the movie is great and thoroughly enjoyable. I can't wait to see the new Spiderman in his next movie! Expand

I really wasn't expecting much from the trailers and clips I saw. I love how Spider-man is a young crime fighter who idolizes the super heroes yet is still trying to figure himself out. When you stop and think about it, this is the first MCU movie that focuses on the street-level hero just trying to help the every day people. This movie also has one of the best villains in any superhero movie in awhile. The Vulture isn't trying to destroy the galaxy or conquer the world, he is just trying to provide for his family and stay under the radar. Speaking of "under the radar" Sony/Marvel cleverly sneaks in another 3 well known Spider-man villains to be used in the future. This version of Spider-man screws up so consistently that it is a wonder he keeps going. But that's when you see Peter Parker turn into the real hero and I can't wait to see him grow and learn in future films. Expand

Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. JUST OK. Fairly entertaining and not nearly as annoying as previous installments. I get the peter parker is a kid but semi mature kids of that age dont make silly screaching annoying comments while doing everything. Just dumb and annoying and not funny at all. Its basically like DeadPool but replace ryan reynolds with a 5 year old retard during the action scenes at least. The other stupid part is michael keaton. seriously he is supposed to be the worlds biggest villain and he is protecting his family.....yet i have no idea from what...so years after he gets fired he is rich from illegal activity yet still has the need to rip boats in half to protect his family....so bad plot elements terrible as usually childish comments(some are ok many are just stupid) but a well produced movie with some charm and good action. At first when I read about it online I was like: okay, they're rebooting spider-man again it's redundant and a little dull...but after I watched the actual movie in theater I was pleased. Keaton is a great villain; Peter is is well represented (young-smart-nerdish-trow one line around like in the old comics); gci is believable; Superhero action is good and for once it's not only "fight with bad guys" but actually have some "rescue people from perils" scene. There is some revamping in some of the supporting characters aimed at viewers of the new generation ...some of them off target like Flash Thompson.... but nothing ubearable.
It not one of my favourite Marvel movie for sure but it passes a second viewing on netflix.

This was a good brainless movie full of the biggets plotholes on a MCU movie, probably ever.

But it is funny, for the most part. The movie doesn't try to be more than good, and focus on the characters, with plenty of little scenes that make you laugh and don't need to much exposition to serve a gran story.

Because of it simplicity and small scale, we get to see how funny the Spiderman Universe can be under Marvel.

There are problems (the bully cast is INSANE. Not the race, which I don't care, but the actor who makes really hard to believe would ever bully Tom Holland. Couldn't you find an imposing indian? Or put more attention on something that dude had to make Tom Holland being bullied by him at least acceptable?
(Maybe show how incredibly rich he is, and how he basically buys an entourage, and THAT'S why Tom can't do much other than resist).

Anyways. Keaton is having waaaaaaaaaaaaaay more fun than when he was BAtman....

It easily succeeds Spider-Man 3, TASM 1 & 2. It has some great moments. However I do not view Homecoming as the best Spider-Man film ever. It is FAR from being the best Spider-Man film. The villain wasn't anything special, infact I didn't find Michael Keaton as a GREAT performance as many people say he was. All in all his portrayal was pretty decent. It wasn't anything that impressed me but it didn't manage to make me hate him either. Tom Holland is believable as Spider-Man, he has the nerdiness and the good quips with him. He is a better Spider-Man compared to Andrew Garfield, his portrayal of Peter Parker was also much improved compared to Andrew Garfield, however he still shys away from being the best Peter-Parker/Spider-Man. Tobey Maguire still has the best portrayal of the character after 15 years. Tom Holland has some great Peter Parker moments in this film, he has nerdy and lovable. Spider-Man Homecoming's set pieces are mediocre, sure it had some good action sequences such as the ferry scene. But it wasn't anything remarkably decent. There was no GOOD swinging scenes, NONE, Spider-Man was completely restricted to his neighborhood, and not once did we see him go for a swing around the city. I was very disappointed. The Soundtrack wasn't memorable at all, it was disappointing and by far the worst Spider-Man soundtrack I ever heard, it pains me to know that Spider-Man will never have a great score ever again, as Marvel never does produce any good compositions. I also did not enjoy the fact that Spider-Man received all his gear and was pretty much fed by Tony Stark. However this did add some great story telling to the film, what would happen if he didn't have all of his gear and had to be Spider-Man like how Spider-Man really should be.

Overall:
Spider-Man Homecoming manages to bring some great performances, and a great cast to make the best Spider-Man film in the past 10 years. However the film still struggles to reach the legacy of the original Spider-Man films. A failing soundtrack and disappointing set pieces backs it away from even being the best MCU film let alone being the best Spider-Man film.

Spiderman webs back into action!

The Film that I am reviewing today is Spider-man: Homecoming the latest Marvel film directed by Jon Watts and I believe that this director has gone above and beyond in creating one of the greatest interpretations of Spider-Man to date.
The basic story of the film is, a few weeks after the Civil War fought between captain america and Iron man, Spider-man is sent home equipped with a new suit ready to protect Queens, (a suburb of New york) from petty crime and to help people whenever is needed, however as peter gets use to his role as the friendly neighbourhood spider-man he grows tired of being a small player in the large world that is Marvel, and thus Spider-man decides to prove that he is worthy of being. An Avenger.
The starring role of Spider-Man (Peter Parker) is held by British actor Tom Holland and his mentor in the Movie Tony Stark or Iron Man played by Robert Downey Jr. with other actors playing supporting roles to Tom Holland like Marisa Tomei who plays Spider-Man's Aunt and Jacob Batalon playing the best friend of peter in the Film, however the role of the Main Antagonist is taken by Michael Keaton who plays the Villainous Vulture.
Throughout the movie the production value of the Film is quite outstanding, with the film using great CGI effects for spider-man webbing through the city skyline or the dramatic and effective final duel between Spider-man and the Vulture, meanwhile Tom Holland himself didn’t really use a stunt double, as most stunts were done by the Actor himself.
This story has two types of storytelling conflict within the Story, those being Man vs Self and Man vs Man, with the latter forming as Peter Parker or Spider-Man begins to doubt himself and his abilities and whether he deserves his abilities, Meanwhile Man vs Man comes from Spiderman vs The Vulture as Spider-man has to defeat the Antagonist in order to prove his worth to Iron Man and to extent the Avengers, He also creates a bond with the Villains daughter making Spider-man second guess himself on whether to turn his friend’s father's into the police. Overall this film was made for the fans, the fans that love Spiderman with many references to past Spider-Man adventures and nods to previous Marvel films, but also this movie is perfect for Teens, as spiderman himself while having superpowers still goes through normal day troubles like High School and having a girlfriend. But overall a great film, and thus my rating for the film is a nice 9/10.

Michael Keaton's Vulture is a real step up in MCU villains who gives an authoritative and relatable perfomance with a real golden scene with himself and Tom Holland in the car. Expand
