The professional critics got it wrong. This is a very good James Bond movie. A story that holds together as well as can be expected, considering this is a fantasy movie. There is action. I simply cant understand the mediocre metacritic rating this movie has. Its a wonderfully made, classic Bond film,. If you liked From Russia With Love then you'll love this. Spectre is Not Skyfall or Quantum of Solace or even Casino Royale, but it is Spectre and it is a very good James Bond movie. The task of the director to come back a reproduce "lightening in a bottle" again is a very unfair expectation, but if he happens to do it, then we should be very grateful and not smug. This movie showed a weary, determined Bond, but also gave use a possible new concept about Bond which probably frightens most people, that Bond can actually be human. Start to finish if you have seen the recent Daniel Craig Bond movies takes us on the most obvious journey and the ride is very cool. Spectre is very Good.… Expand

This is absolutely going back into the formula that made James Bond great in the first place...he just needs a bit more humour and its spot on! but the movie in itself was superb just as it was supposed to be.

I enjoyed this movie a lot. Indeed this is the best Bond I saw in my marathon with all 007 movies. Visually the pictures are perfect, especially in the first half of the movie. Almost every character here is interesting, especially Q improvedI enjoyed this movie a lot. Indeed this is the best Bond I saw in my marathon with all 007 movies. Visually the pictures are perfect, especially in the first half of the movie. Almost every character here is interesting, especially Q improved a lot since the last movie. Ralph Fiennes as M has more scenes and he is much better than the ice cold and ugly Judi Dench. Christoph Waltz as Blofeld is a perfect cast, I still remember him as Col. Hans Lada in Inglourious Basterds. Daniel Craig is perfect as usual. Only the character Madeleine Swann is annoying in the beginning, but gets better. The story is a good one, I like the political statement here much better than in Skyfall.
The action scenes are perfect, because they are much more realistic than in many other Bond movies. Also the hand fights are great, compare them with the Bond movies from the 60s and 70s...
The biggest surprise is the humour. I never laughed in the all the Bond movies, sometimes the humour was even bad. But here, every joke is on point.… Expand

When Skyfall was named Best Film of the Year by the British Academy or BAFTA, I would like to have assumed the "Academy" would follow suit, but in typical United States hubristic fashion, it did not. Not surprising of course. Now, the puny minds who review films in this country but know nothing of either art or life have rationalized themselves, their puny minds, that is, into the facile, puerile, and most infantile notion that Spectre is a substandard film. The only thing I can say about these sad sacks, and the sheep that follow them on this reviewer board is that . . with the US reviewer once again, I am shaken but not stirred.… Expand

Definitely not the worst bond ever, and in my opinion, better than Skyfall. Everyone was saying how good skyfall was, but I thought it was boring. Spectre's sequence where the song comes in was outstanding. Surprisingly, I thought this was much more violent and sexy than Skyfall. The action was amazing and Daniel Craig is awesome in this role. Christoph Waltz as the villain was pretty cool and the entering sequence of him in the court was very thrilling and suspenseful. I haven't seen Casino Royale, but I am now dying to see it. Also, the female protagonist is very pretty and the film was awesome! Don't get let down by the negativity! Just go see the movie; it will live up to your expectations!… Expand

I enjoyed spectre although i never watched any other of the James bond movies this movie was great and I liked the story and Daniel Craig's Performance. The action in this movie was really unique and awesome. However they are some cons I want to say about this movie first of all Lea Seydoux character Madeiline was absolutely atrocious I hated her character and personally I found her really ugly but that's just my opinion. Second of all the villain, I liked the villain of this movie but what was annoying was that we didn't meet him until more than half way through the movie, he was a great villain though. I am going to give this movie a 9/10 Great movie but one horrible character… Expand

A really great arc - if Craig finished here it would be a great place to end. But I'm desperately hoping he makes another one or even two. I'm just come right out and say that Spectre is one of the best Bond films, if not the best Bond film to date. As a long time fan of the Bond films and books I can't quite understand how this film is scoring lower than Skyfall, which althoughI'm just come right out and say that Spectre is one of the best Bond films, if not the best Bond film to date. As a long time fan of the Bond films and books I can't quite understand how this film is scoring lower than Skyfall, which although is a great film itself, I thought Spectre was a better film. The whole movie has a sense of building mystery and tension and I was hooked from start to finish. Everything from the cast to the direction was bang on point. Special mention must go to the cinematography as this is a truly beautiful film to watch. This is both a modern and classic Bond film at the same time. Personally, I think Daniel Craig's run as Bond has been the best so far. His portrayal of Bond is by far the closest to how Ian Fleming originally wrote him (with Timothy Dalton a close second) and it is going to be a hard task for the producers to find an actor to fill his shoes. Although it has been stated that Spectre wraps up Craig's Bond series of films so far, I do hope that he returns for at least one more outing. If you are a fan of the Bond franchise I don't see how you would be disappointed with this film. If you're not a huge fan but are looking for a good action/spy movie then you'd be hard pressed to find a better example than Spectre.… Expand

It was advertised before it was released. This Bond flick is beautifully shot from start to finish (the love scene on the train, though brief, was a work of art); the best acting in any Bond film to date; the best character development of Bond in any Bond film to date (I know there are people who want Bond to remain a flat cardboard cutout comic book-like character; I'm not one of those people); a teaser among the very best of Bond teasers; arguably the best opening animation sequence (but the song is forgettable); the single best Bond story to date. But it is in a way a real drama as well as a Bond movie. Again, some people complain about this along with the (relative) realism of Craig's Bond, and the grittiness, but I love it. I'm not a child so I need a little bit of realism, at least emotional realism. I plan to head back to the theater to see it again, this time in iMax, which will make this the only Bond film I have ever traveled to a theater to see twice. For my money the two best Bond movies since Connery are Spectre and Casino Royale (Casino Royale had the most beautiful Bond girl in history, Caterina Murino) and the most specifically motivated villian. As for Skyfall, the writing ruined it. Comic bookish vaguely motivated bad guy; a radio homing transmitter as a Q gadget? Has Q not seen the iPhone?, and a Bond who didn't behave consistently with his character as established in Craig's first two films. No, for my money Casino Royale and Spectre are the best Craig Bond movies and the very best Bond movies since the 1960s. I would love to see Craig come back for more.… Expand

Did you like the other 3 reboots of the Bond series. If so then this one is the best of them all. If you did not like the others go see this one just for the intro song by Sam Smith, it is worth the money and really gets you interested inDid you like the other 3 reboots of the Bond series. Excellent mixture as always, Craig at is best, gorgeous voir splendide panorama, good twisted scenario and you get the BOND SAUCE.

In fact,Spectre is my favorite movie of all time to date. If James Bond can get spiritual, Spectre is the quintessence of Mr. Bond's redemption. I write this as a Catholic Christian seeing past the endless array of Bond's sleazy women.

In fact, Daniel Craig's Bond has two women of interest in each of his movies, one a lover and one a whore. In all the four movies, the whore gets killed because of Bond and the lover reveals to us something about him. The deaths may seem a bit repetitive, but they actually prepare an important setting. In Spectre, those four deaths and others lead straight to Bond's archnemesis and rival. Bond's lovers, however, culminate in a final lasting love through which he may return to a life of ease. Still, the women of these four movies are not the primary focus of Bond's development.

What is the primary focus of the Daniel Craig Bond movies? Upon careful analysis, one will come to the same conclusion as mine: James' self-control. Bond may save the world (more or less) four times, or he may magnetize (more or less) four different babes. But, at the end of the day, only Bond's ability to pacify his internal scars matters. And that is exactly what takes place in this movie. And it's glorious! After his gory killing-spree in Quantum of Solace, Bond holds the trigger at a key moment of revenge.

On the most superficial of levels, Spectre is a fairly scary feature of murder and death. At the heart of its premise is a spiritual balance wherein James Bond wraps up his out-of-control ego. Spectre includes a helicopter fight, a crazy mountain chase, and a lot of insane action. But it's definitely got a lot more to it than that. Watch it after Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, and Skyfall; otherwise, it won't add up. Also, enjoy the unexpected octopus squirming around in the opening credits!… Expand

I was worried about seeing this based on the weak reviews. Once again, I'm glad I didn't listen to Metacritic (the same site that said "Steve Jobs" was a great movie when in fact it was terrible)...

This Bond movie was among the best Daniel Craig Bond movies... maybe the best. I didn't like Skyfall, but this one was great.

Honestly, I used to really like Metacritic but I'm starting to think it stinks just like Rotten Tomatoes stinks now. To illustrate my point:

This site gave Spring Breakers a Green (good) rating at 63 (higher than Spectre).
It gave Steve Jobs a jaw-dropping 82 when the movie was terrible (I encourage people to see it because they don't believe a movie this highly rated could be awful... then they agree I was right after they come out... they're shocked at how bad it is)
This site gave Inherent Vice an 81... and that's another movie that makes you embarrassed to be alive by being so bad.

Anyway... if you came to see a great Bond film, you're going to get what you came for. It's a shame this site sucks so much (or maybe it's not so much the site as it is the critics themselves, who are totally out of touch with what a good movie is...)… Expand

Spectre is a film designed for Bond fans, by Bond fans. It mixes the style of classic bond movies with the modern day feel of Daniel Craig's entries to create an incredibly satisfying and exciting experience.

Pros:
+ Great Action specifically the Incredible opening sequence.
+ Reinvents a lot of classic bond ingredients for a modern generation of film-goers.
+ Great performances especially from Daniel Craig who is now BOND indefinitely
+ Gorgeous Cinematography
+ The Writing's On The Wall title sequence
+ The Villain and his Henchman

Cons:
- A few minor issues with the script and some of it's subplots
- Love story isn't convincing at all
- Monica Belucci cameo
- The soundtrack was great... when it wasn't a rehashed track from Skyfall

If there is such a thing as "James Bond's Greatest Hits," then Spectre is it. The 25th movie about the British MI6 agent with a license to kill is party time for Bond fans, a fierce, funny, gorgeously produced valentine to the longest-running franchise in movies. Bond freaks will be orgasmic playing spot-the-reference to the series that began in 1962 with Dr. No.

Non-freaks still have Daniel Craig to feast on. In a photo finish with Sean Connery as the best of the six movie Bonds, Craig comes out blazing. He's a blunt instrument in a creamy Tom Ford tux, alive with danger and sexual swagger. This is Craig's fourth time as 007. After the abysmal Quantum of Solace, he rallied with Skyfall, the biggest boffo Bond ($1.1 billion worldwide). Craig's stated goal was to make Spectre "better than Skyfall." Not quite. Spectre carries on Craig's reinvention of Bond, blowing a reported $250 million budget on spectacular action without losing what's personal. Skyfall director Sam Mendes is back to keep things real, but the plot cooked up by John Logan, Neal Purvis, Robert Wade and Jez Butterworth is a 148-minute minefield of distractions.

Ah, but what distractions. Apologies to The Spy Who Loved Me, but the Bond series has never had a more drop-dead dazzler of an opener than this one, set in Mexico City on the Day of the Dead. With Bond leaping across rooftops to take out the evil Sciarra (Alessandro Cremona) and winding up in a dizzying chopper battle above the crowds in Zocolo Square, the scene is a visual triumph for Dutch camera whiz Hoyte van Hoytema (Interstellar, Her) and a new peak in the art of eye-popping.

Then Bond is off to Rome, chasing bad guys in a custom Aston Martin DB10 and having sex with Sciarra's widow (Monica Bellucci, still wowza at 51). The widow is Bond's entree to Spectre, a secret society of global terrorists led by Franz Oberhauser (Christoph Waltz), a mystery man from Bond's orphan past. "I'm the author of all your pain," says Franz, whose ID is easy to guess. No spoilers, except to say that Waltz, purring with lethal charm, is perfection.

Back at MI6, Bond and the new M (Ralph Fiennes) face a new enemy, C, short for Max Denbigh (a smarmy Andrew Scott). He's a bureaucrat who wants to refit British intelligence for the digital era: drones in place of agents and the end of the 00 program, which made spycraft hands-on. So it's Bond, M, Moneypenny (Naomie Harris) and gadget-master Q (a wonderful Ben Whisaw) against the cyber-Nazis on one side, Spectre on the other.

Spectre even offers a fresh take on the Bond girl. She's Madeleine Swann (Léa Seydoux), a French doctor with a name out of Proust and no patience for Bond's swinging, macho lifestyle. She puts the randy spy in touch with his feminist side and, just maybe, lasting love.

Not buying it? Too candy-ass? I see your point. But Bond's train fight with a hulk called Hinx (Dave Bautista) recalls the brutal choo-choo classic in From Russia With Love. Craig puts heat and heart into Spectre, as if he's taken Bond as far he can. The movie is a fever dream of all the Bond villains and all of Bond's efforts to see a life past them. An exhausted Craig has said he'd rather "slash my wrists" than play Bond again. There's still one more film in his contract, but to quote Sam Smith's Bond song, "The writing's on the wall." If so, Spectre is a stirring, way-cool valedictory. Craig does himself proud.… Expand

Spectre may be no different in terms of James Bond on a mission to stop a madman from destroying the world, but each film is different in the way it is shot, and each Director and actor brings their own take, style, and personality to the series. Spectre is a lot more audience friendly and lot easier to follow than many previous Bond films, but what made this one really special was the unique action sequences that I've never seen anywhere else. The balcony and helicopter scenes alone are enough to get any action junkies blood pumping. In film number twenty-four, James Bond is following up on the events in Skyfall, trying to find out who killed M. During his investigation he discovers something a lot bigger, an underground global terror network, that is responsible for many of the missions he's had to go on. Daniel Craig is of course fantastic and I still content that he is far and away the best Bond ever, but in this film, he meets a villain who may be one of the best villains ever. There is just something about Christoph Waltz that makes audiences hang on his every word. We first saw it in Inglorious Bastards six years ago, and since then he's only gotten better. The chemistry and friction between the two characters and the two actors trying to one up each other is nothing short of spectacular. While many fans of the series don't like how modern it's become, I feel as though the series is re-inventing itself with each film, and Spectre, is definitely among the most unique and special in the series.… Expand

Furthermore, Christoph Waltz’ performance as Blofeld seemed too much of a failed attempt to recreate Javier Bardem’s portrayal of Silva, and some of the ideas in the film weren’t too inspired. However, nothing in the film I’d say was bad, far from that; and more concentration on the action made for a fantastically entertaining film and probably one of the best this year, albeit not quite as good as some of its predecessors.

Spectre was a very entertaining film which adds new elements to the Bond saga and brings back some aspects of earlier bond films. Much like some of the earlier Bonds (Roger Moore, Sean Connery, Pierce Brosnan) there were always some silly moments for comical relief. They had removed most of those from the Daniel Craig era, but have brought some of that back in this film which I liked. The movie still maintains the adrenaline of high stakes situations by displaying the brutal possibilities James could face. I found the film to be suave and entertaining, however I will deduct a couple of points for a few times when things were a little too convenient to be realistic, but not deal-breakers by any means. Go see this for sure if you are a Bond fan!… Expand

However, on the downside, the film switches back and forth a few too many times between scenes with lots of action and scenes with just a lot of dialogue and talking, and there wasn't near enough screentime for Christoph Waltz, who I was really looking forward to seeing more of. Overall, it's another worthwhile Bond addition, but please keep in mind that this film is nowhere near the level of Casino Royale and Skyfall, but is still much better than Quantum of Solace.… Expand

What spectre does well is that it keeps you interested the whole way through, the story never got stale, there is always that sense of suspense/Is Spectre a good movie? Yes, Is it a good bond movie? Yes, Is it the best bond movie? Nope. What spectre does well is that it keeps you interested the whole way through, the story never got stale, there is always that sense of suspense/ mystery. The action scenes are great even if a little ridiculous, the villain was good but he was very underused, but spectre the organisation itself was interesting. My biggest complaint was that the movie went for too long, it could have been much more interesting and tense if it was shorter, it also would have solved the problem that it started very slowly and took a while for things to get going.

You will enjoy spectre, will you love it? Maybe not, but it is good entertainment, there was no WOW moment or any stand out to remember, funny enough the best part of the movie was when i saw the Star Wars trailer before the movie.… Expand

Daniel Craig is for me one of the best Bonds we've had. Its a shame this is is last. He has tremendous screen presence and makes somehow believable what is fantastical in the Bond world

It's the usual Bond formula. Aston Martins and style every man wishes he could have. Multiple locations, one desert and hot, one cold and Alpine, Rome ( where else..perfect) ,of course London and a great single shot opening sequence from Mexico city during the day of the dead festival. 2 1/2 hours flew by.

I've heard some complaints about the new French Bond girl not being beautiful enough. I disagree and Monica Bellucci is stunning. Hard to believe she is 51.

Slight grumble about Andrew Scott who plays Moriarty so well in Sherlock. They could have done a better job with him.

Spectre obviously isn't going to be the franchise's next "masterpiece," but it does offer a suitably engaging and action-packed thrill ride. In Spectre, M must fight political forces to keep the secret service in operation, while Bond must use a message from his past to find the truth behind SPECTRE. Spectre is much more like the classic Bond films updated for a modern audience. A nail-biting action sequence in a helicopter opens the film in gloriously absurd fashion. Unrealistic? Many scenes in the movie will surely stretch reality, but Spectre is too entertaining and well-directed to really have a negative impact. I also have to mention the beautiful cinematography, which is pretty typical of the Daniel Craig Bond flicks. Spectre, however, has some of the best cinematography out of all the Bond movies I've seen. The film employs a rugged look to fit its locales like Mexico and Rome as well as some shots that look like they were taken straight out of the great Sean Connery Bond films. Spectre is an entirely satisfying, thrilling, beautifully-shot spy film that should entertain most James Bond fans.… Expand

The story starts off at Day of the Dead parade in Mexico, which is beautifully shot and the impressive cinematography remains till the end thanks to cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema and editor Lee Smith, who both served Christopher Nolan's Interstellar previously. Director Sam Mendes and three screenwriters did a great job for Skyfall, but Spectre which appears as Part II of Skyfall proves that their repeat collaboration is lacking fresh ideas in which the whole structure of the plot, not only slightly overlong but also exactly similar to Skyfall. Daniel Craig still looks awesome as James Bond, the potential of Christoph Waltz as the villain is let down by limited appearance while the chemistry between Bond's girl Léa Seydoux is slightly awkwardly developed. The scores from Thomas Newman are great, the theme song "Writing's on the Wall" by Sam Smith which sneaks at the very beginning is solid but generates underwhelming feel if compared to "Skyfall". Overall, Spectre is still an entertaining and visually engaging spy action flick even if the rushing production may have dragged a lot at plot wise.… Expand

So I've just seen "Spectre" a few days ago and it was pretty good. It wasn't as fantastic as Casino Royale or Skyfall, but it's nowhere near Quantum of Solace. This was my most anticipated movie of 2015 and it didn't disappoint.

Sam Mendes returns as director and once again he impresses me with the type of film making he uses in this film, because when the first sentence started and he uses the one take shot again I was impressed. Mendes uses the same film making from Skyfall in this movie and it's great. Nicely done Sam Mendes.

What I notice straight away when the movie started is it's homages and references from previous Bond films. This is a nice touch and it never felt force like some movies. It was fitting and it blended well into the film.

Daniel Craig once again nails it as Bond and in my personal opinion, I think he's the best Bond we've ever had. All through out the Bond films, Craig isn't just the good looking martini drinking lady's man, Craig really puts a lot into his character that made him much different to the other Bonds that we had. Making Bond a human being who feels pain and loss really adds to the character as we can relate to him better. I don't know if Daniel Craig would return as Bond (As I speak) but I hope he dose, because Daniel Craig is magnificent as James Bond.

The one thing that I was really looking forward to seeing is Christoph Waltz as the villain, because if you haven't see him in Inglorious Bastards then do yourself a favor and watch it, because he played such an amazing villain in that film. When I first heard the news about Waltz playing a Bond villain I was like "Yes, that's perfect. Can't wait to see it". And after seeing the movie and he's performance I can say that Waltz did a terrific performance as this menacing villain. He's not one of the best Bond villains of all time like: Le Chiffre, Francisco Scaramanga, Auric Goldfinger or Ernst Stavro Blofeld. Yes, I know that Waltz character is basically Ernst Stavro Blofeld in this film, but he never tried to fully copy him in anywhere as he tried to do something new with the material that was given to him. Christoph Waltz did a great performance as the villain.

Léa Seydoux was also great in this movie. She played a strong female character that can kick some ass at times. Still better than the female characters in the Roger Moore movies, I mean the female characters in those movie were complete tools that needed a man to save them all the time. I'm so glad we've moved on from that.

Now Sam Smith's "Writing on the Wall", was a song that I wasn't such a big off at the first. I don't know, I guess I was so use to the other Bond themes that we usually get in every film. But I must say that I actually like the song and the intro that we got in this film. The song really did fit well into this movie and the intro was pretty good as well.

The action was good, rest of the cast were great, the cinematography was excellent and the movie is 148 minutes long and it never felt long to me.

Now for the problems: There were some scenes in this movie that felt a bit rushed and one of those scenes was the ending. Dave Bautista was awesome in the movie, but I do wish there was more of him. Some of the actions scenes were a bit lackluster at times.

Overall Spectre is an enjoyable Bond flick with some little miss steps. This movie could have been just as great as Skyfall, but I still think Skyfall and Casino Royale are better movies if I have to compare it to Spectre. I highly recommend seeing Spectre, but please don't go in expecting it to be better than Skyfall or Casino Royale.… Expand

It's gritty, continues to emphasize Bond's vulnerability as a character and put's story at the core of it's foundation. It molds classic Bond with the brutal reality we come to expect with these newer entries to the franchise. Lighter, yes, but by no means a 'light' film. It stands on it's on merit and knows what it wants to be. The woman, the cars, the set-pieces, they are all present and as engaging and exciting as ever. This is not (in my opinion) better than Casino or Skyfall, but it is most definitely one of the greatest BOND pictures you'll see. If you want a good night out, Spectre is sure to entertain and excite.… Expand

So, Bond (James Bond) is back on screens in Spectre, a film in which Bond hunts down the titular organisation. That's the plot in short and the movie features a host of characters, as Bond works with Moneypenny, Q and M to hunt down Spectre. Is is good? Absolutely. Is it as good as Skyfall? I don't think so. But don't let that distract you from what is a wonderfully entertaining.

A lot of Skyfall's positives carry over, as this film's use of varying locales, densely packed shots and great sound make this film a joy for the senses. The main plot is personal and is cohesive and the film's best part is it's performances. Craig is as usual a joy to watch, with very suave one-liners and a great presence. Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris and Volde... I mean, Ralph Fiennes have more to do in this movie and are very good in the movie. The Animal Bat... Dave Bautista is very good as Mr Hinx, but my favourite performance goes to Lea Seydoux as Dr. Madeleine Swann, the 'Bond girl' if you will. Her character is well developed and she adds humanity and bravery to the role. The movie will also satisfy fans of the previous Bonds with Craig as the film links back very well to events in Casino Royale, Skyfall and the other one sitting in the corner by itself (sorry). Another high point carried over from Skyfall is well helmed action sequences, including a fantastic car chase and train sequences, and these range from the very tense affairs to the bombastic. And for fans of classic bonds, there are a number of references to keep them entertained and some dialogue is written very well.

In terms of where this movie falls down, it's in the treatment of some other characters. Mainly, the villain is portrayed well by a brilliant actor in Christoph Waltz, but I wish the villain was more active in actually dealing with Bond. He is introduced very well at a great meeting scene, but I wish he actually was a bit physical as well as the psychological effect he has on Bond. The Joker was psychological to Batman, but actively took part in the action. Also, Monica Bellucci's character has a minor bit of development, but largely feels like a plot device by the end of the movie. And, as much as the supporting cast are fun, it felt slightly disappointing when we cut back to London to look at the developments concerning the politics. Whilst key to the plot, the Bond stuff was enthralling and was at times, sad when we had to see M sat in a bar with a glass of red.

Overall though, this movie is a lot of fun and is a Bond movie that will give you entertainment. That glass of vodka martini is half full with those movie, even if it could be a little more shaken.… Expand

This movie opens with Bond's solo mission hunting down Siaccra (the we found out that Siaccra is the last message of previous M) in the middle of "The Day of the Dead" parade of Mexico City. Bond's succesfully fullfiled this unofficial mission after a breathtaking chase and fight inside helicopter in the air killed all his enemies.Bond also manage to steal Sciarra ring with an octopuss logo.Bond got suspended for his action even though M realise that this unofficial mission prevent the mass bombing scenario.But,he is not stopping at all, this is only the beginning of his personal mission. Siaccra's death leads Bond to a gorgeous Italian widow Lucia Siaccra (Monica Belluci),and this gorgeous lonely that need a protector tips Bond about her late husband meeting point. And Bond didn't need waste time and direclty entered the meeting point easily and finally not just see the face of Spectre's leader but suprisingly this person has connection with Bond's childhood. Frankly i hope Spectre is going to be the greatest Bond ever made - better than Skyfall.But i must admit there are few things that i felt that should be explore. When the leader of Spectre revealed himself to Bond, that really shocked and i think scared the hell out Bond, is one of the best momentum.When this Spectre mysterious leader Ernst Stavro Bloveld enter the room, sudden this large meeting aula become so chill, filled with fear, we only hear his voice that gives the feel of terror.But this momentum didn't maintained well. I think the story should explore more "space" for psychological battle between Bond and Ernst (a.k.a Franz Oberhauser that believed is dead decades ago in an accident that also killed Franz father). In Skyfall audiens were showned the psychological condition between love and hatred of Raoul Silva (ex 00 agent went rough who seek revenge for being abandoned and left for dead after Raoul's personel mission almost jeoperdize the handover Hongkong to China back in 1997). Maybe that Sam Mendez already to tired to explore this psychological things.Or just wanna focus on Bond's mission that really wanna put his misery to an end,cause Ernst recognition that for this past few years Bond's misery for the lost all that he love so much and devoted to is taken away by Ernst all along behind his collaborator in crime. This is the most apparent weakness of this Spectre. Craig performance is great, he can easily combined the drama side of this Bond character. Monica Belluci short performance but still can steal a few moments. I also give credit to Ben Whisaw as Q. and off course Waltz performance is good but not as strong as Javier's performance as villain in Skyfall. But however the early of Waltz's character appear is the best highlight in Spectre.… Expand

The action and stunts are fun to watch, as the film gets you hooked on Bond escaping the clutches of Christoph Waltz's men, protecting the brilliant Lea at the same time or chasing an important character who has the capability of executing a terrorist attack. The story has an interesting touch, one to still not let go of previous Craig Bond films, maybe the scripting could've needed a bit of work. Other than that, the actors were great, the action was awesome, and I highly recommend if you can, IMAX. Spectre may not be up there with Skyfall and Casino Royale, but sill not only better than the accident that was Quantum of Solace but around the middle pack of Bond films.… Expand

It brought back memories of Austin Powers and Dr. Evil toying with each other. "I'm going to leave them alone and not actually witness them dying. I'm just going to assume it all went to plan. What?" Sure there were some stolen plot lines from previous films from the genre, such as Mission Impossible. IMF and the double O programs are both being terminated, and we even had the beautiful Léa Seydoux in both franchises now.

Spectre is just a lot of fun, and while I will be the first one to admit it is not as well done as Skyfall, but I have to admit I enjoyed this one much more.… Expand

WHAT I LIKED: Casino Royale was emotional, Skyfall stayed true to the old whilst developing the new, and now Spectre steps it up a gear, leaning towards a real classic Bond. Taking hints from Captain America: The Winter Soldier, this is aWHAT I LIKED: Casino Royale was emotional, Skyfall stayed true to the old whilst developing the new, and now Spectre steps it up a gear, leaning towards a real classic Bond. Taking hints from Captain America: The Winter Soldier, this is a half political thriller, half classic espionage action. As a result, so many moments throughout this film make you grin from ear to ear at the humor, thrilling action and the cliched but just brilliant style in which the whole film was directed and acted (plus the way it was scored.) There's also some great character development, for example James' relationships with Madeline and his associates are beautifully developed by the amazing script, and audiences can now really feel like they know James well. To follow on from Skyfall in such a way deserves huge huge credit.
WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE: It just wasn't quite as emotional or gritty as Skyfall; it feels like some of the more emotional moments were glossed over to make room for the heavy plots which, despite tying up being something Mendes does well, feel disjointed from each other. This makes for a rather underwhelming ending overall.
VERDICT: If you love Bond you'll love this - and you might love it even if you don't. It's a proper classic, but that does stop it having the overall appeal that the revolutionary 'Skyfall' did… Expand

Unpopular opinion but I prefer this over skyfall.
While skyfall was amazing from a directorial standpoint it just felt bland and had no energy whereas here I felt like Craig was bond once again and was having fun in the role and eprovedUnpopular opinion but I prefer this over skyfall.

The cinematography is beautiful and the soundtrack was stellar ,not to mention some of the best action set pieces & sequences I've seen in a while especially the opening however it could have benefited from being at least twenty minutes shorter ,two hours and thirty minutes is a lot to ask for today's generation to sit through Definitely the second best bond in the Craig trilogy in my opinion.
P.S writings on the wall was a masterpiece and smith deserved all the recognition.… Expand

A good Bond film, but not a great one. The filming, pacing, acting, and emotion are all there; it’s the plot that doesn’t hold up. And since the set-up is three movies long, it feels like a little bit of a let-down by the end.

The great allure of Daniel Craig’s Bond movies has not been Daniel Craig as Bond, but the underlying story arc. Where the previous 20 films brought us increasingly far-fetched episodes in the career of a decreasingly relevant cold-war spy, Casino Royale was a masterful reboot and the beginning of (what appears to be) a four-episode uber-plot. Gone were the references to geopolitical turmoil; in where the references to some sinister organization controlling global crime through a highly secretive network. In the middle of it all we sensed a Moriarity-level spider pulling all the web-lines, with James Bond slowly circling into the middle of the web at the expense of all he holds dear. This was finally the out-sized story line worthy of an out-sized character, and we loved it: Casino, Quantum, and Skyfall grossed more than the 10 movies preceding the reboot.

And now are at what looks like a logical end to the story arc, so we have to ask – does this movie hold up as a satisfying end to a four-episode story? In my opinion, the answer is: “almost.” Whereas Skyfall gave us a truly masterful film by any standard, Spectre is only a masterful film by James Bond standards.

As a stand-alone film, Spectre is head-and-shoulders above most action movies this days. The story is intriguing, the filming is absolutely top-rate, the pacing is near-perfect , and the acting is spot on. Bond fans will be particularly pleased with a return to some bond basics…multiple locations, multiple ladies, multiple expendable henchmen, and a super-villain with a super-lair. We also get a number of nods to Bonds past, like Dave Bautista’s clever update on “Jaws” (including the fight on a train) and a suspiciously furry white kitty.

However, as part four of what has been a masterful story so far, Spectre doesn’t give us the payoff we deserve (especially in comparison to recent ‘concluding’ films like The Dark Knight Rises). In a nutshell, it feels as if plausibility has been sacrificed for convenience; as if everyone agreed the story needed to end and no one knew how to end it. We get the ending we expect, but the path is too convenient. Most conveniently, there are too many easy-outs: from the ease with which Bond beds his women (one of which absolutely HAS to be #1 on the playlist for Wedding Crashers’ Chazz Reinhold), to the ease with which super criminals transform themselves into bumbling, monologue-ing, capture monkeys.

It has been a great ride and Spectre is great fun to watch. And although it isn’t quite the same caliber as the set-up, it would require superhuman ennui to not to at least enjoy watching it. AND…I can’t way to see what Bond cooks up next.… Expand

Spectre in comparison is an assembly of the character back into a typical Bond film. Exotic locale? Check. Crazy headquarter of the main villain? Torture that leads to Bond escaping? Check. Sure, Craig is still stellar, but the film itself tries too hard without offering anything new. One thing for sure: it looks and feels expensive, maybe the highest budgeted Bond outing ever. However, Skyfall seemed to create a crazy amount of pressure to the film makers to repeat its 1 billion dollar performance. The end result is a muddled plot to connect all of Craig's previous outings, and a waste of great talents such as Monica Belucci and Christoph Waltz.. Is it worth a watch in the cinema? Hell yeah! Don't expect too much though.… Expand

It is my favorite movie series out there. This film introduces SPECTRE obviously which was long over due since the Craig Bond films were concentrated on the beginning of the Spy's career. I found the film entertaining and would rank it in the middle of the Bond pack. However, there are problems with the film.

1st: It doesn't really seam to have a defined plot through much of the movie. Bond is searching for M's Killer and stumbles onto SPECTRE. Consequently, there is no sinister plot that needs to be thwarted that BOND and MI6 are working on.
2nd: All of the best Bond films have a strong villain. Christoph Waltz does a fine job as Blofeld, but you don't see him until 2/3 of the way through the film.
3rd: The Bond chick doesn't show up until half way through the movie. At one point during the movie, I asked myself where are the Bond chicks? :)

The presentation at a true IMAX was spectacular. It is the only way to see an action movie if it is available in your area. Don't be fooled by the regular movie theaters that lease the IMAX name. It is not even close to a true IMAX theater experience.… Expand

In all probability at a cost of over $300mil to make it may be the most expensive Bond film and may be, just maybe, the last time Daniel Craig will play the role.

You go into a Bond film expecting certain things and they are here from the women James will seduce to the gadgets that Q will come up with to the martinis and the villains who want to dominate the world. The body count is high and disturbing scenes of violence that seem to go further here than the previous films while the pacing of setting up the next episode seems slower making the movie unnecessarily longer.

Monica Bellucci as a widow, Stephanie Sigman going to Bond’s hotel room in that opening sequence and, in particular, Lea Seydoux, as the love interest, along with Naomie Harris as MoneyPenny all serve the script and Bond.

Christoph Waltz, as the villain, will not be remembered along with other Bond villains but he does have one turn your eyes away from the screen scene that will be remembered. He, also, introduces and/or recalls what may have made Bond what he is. There seems to be more psychoanalysis and hinting at Bond’s past in this film than previously--a set up for the next chapter?

Ralph Fiennes returns as M with the role larger than previously, Ben Wishaw as Q is very impressive while Andrew Scott as C wants to close the 00 agent operation down completely and adds an element of surprise to the denouement of the plot.

Daniel Craig is comfortable in Bond’s tuxedo, and many other costume changes, mainly black or brown clothes, is convincing in his fights, the romance/sex scenes, the chases and handling the emotional scenes along with the ideas planted as to why he is what he is not to forget the half smile, possibly a smirk, that comes across every now and then.

The opening tune sung by Sam Smith is quickly forgettable and at times the music by Thomas Newman is bombastic at the wrong time though the original Bond theme is always a winner.

The screenplay by John Logan, Neal Purvis, Robert Wade and Jez Butterworth is not as sharp as their previous effort, “Skyfall” and slows down the movie which could partially be the fault of the Director Sam Mendes. He has to many non-verbal scenes that don’t add to what is about to happen but he does himself and the series proud with the action scenes.
Going into “Spectre”, or any Bond film, you know what to expect and this one delivers even if it takes longer to do it.… Expand

This film has car chases, gun fights. RidiculouslySpectre builds off of the events of the previous three Bond films in a way never attempted in this franchise. All of the high points in the film for me came from when it was doing so. This film has car chases, gun fights. Ridiculously inappropriate uses of vehicles. And they were all very well done. The exotic locals were very exotic and picturesque. The villain's lair looked cool. Lots of very nice expensive looking cars too. But it was the gradual reveal of Spectre where the film was most interesting.
I should also say there were a couple of scenes which were just a bit too "campy bond." Maybe there's a deleted scene or two that was cut for time that fixes it. And there is one scene, where bond is captured and strapped to a chair. If you've ever seen the film Brazil, it'll have you wondering.
Overall I'd rate this film 2nd after Casino Royal in the 4 bond films Danial Craig has starred in. Good show.… Expand

Spectre has many classic Bond elements ranging from the girls to the cars to the extravagant locations as well as an old school flavor of big evil villains and henchmen. The action is great and the film is well made for sure. The action is great and the film is well made for sure. However it falls frustratingly short of greatness due to pacing issues and an enormous lack of screen time for our villain Christoph Waltz. On top of that the deeper relationship between him and Bond is mentioned but never explored as much as it should've been. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First scene is a materpiece, then it gets wore but not under a certain acceptable level. Why Monica Belucci is being intrduced as a main character is beyond me. The worst part is the ending, it should end with that final blast, Bond escaping on the boat and Blofeld flying away. That would salvage the whole movie, since as it is the ending just ruins the plot entirely.… Expand

Not your usual Bond movie, but still a good entertainer.

What I liked from a couple of last Bond movies was they were off the regular 007 style, like not overly rely on spy's special gadgets. This change has been since the day one ofNot your usual Bond movie, but still a good entertainer.

What I liked from a couple of last Bond movies was they were off the regular 007 style, like not overly rely on spy's special gadgets. This change has been since the day one of Daniel Craig as a famous British spy, James Bond. Anyway, he's the most fittest (muscular) Bond I've ever seen and he's celebrating 10 year anniversary with this film release. But the question is whether he to do another film or done with the franchise. The doubt after the confusing end of this film.

The end was quite clear on the story perspective, so I kind of felt it was a farewell for Craig. But, later I came to know that the official source says Bond25 will be his fifth and so on till he opts out himself. 'Spectre' was a very simple Bond movie I have ever seen, but I can say the production quality was so good that you can't resist the enjoyment. The actors, they were also good, but not as I anticipated. Maybe many scenes were very ordinary for a Bond movie, that's comparable with the nowadays action movies, otherwise it was not as bad as critics expressing their disappointment.

You can't believe what I was disappointed, you know when they say what the C stands for - is that the best word they come up with against the M for Moron? Anyway, James Bond movies have always had ups and downs, the last film 'Skyfall' was a mega hit and now this has not stood up to that standard. But very entertaining with all the actions and unexpected turns in the narration. As a spy movie, it was okay, but as a Bond movie is what might upset you, so its upto you how you look at it. But to be honest, I enjoyed it.

60 out of 100 seems a little bit too hard for me. The first half of the film is as good as Skyfall or Casino Royal, which is as good as a Bond film can get. Then it suffers problems with the pacing and also a few silly situations and60 out of 100 seems a little bit too hard for me. Daniel Craig is perfect as always, the supporting cast good as always, love Q and the whole team. The new Bond girl does a great job too in this film. Spectacular scenery and action as always, with so much class. You won´t regret watching it. The first 10 minutes are some of the best openings ever in any Bond film.… Expand

First, let me mention the negatives in Spectre. Although the first scene in Mexico City is well done, it didn’t top the first scene of Quantum of Solace for me. Then things slowed down and I nodded off (literally) until Lea Seydoux entered the film. I thought she was very fine, although not as deliciously malevolent as Eva Green in Casino Royale. But to me the biggest weakness was Christoph Waltz, a fine actor but when you keep flashing pictures of Mads Mikkelsen, Javier Bardem, and Mathieu Amalric (currently my favorite actor) on the screen as previous Bond villains, you cannot help seeing Waltz pale in comparison – and he was supposed to be the most twisted of all. Dare I say this – he seemed too nice. And the film was about a half hour too long and could have used judicious snips elsewhere too. But having brought up all these negatives, I thoroughly enjoyed the last hour – perhaps because Ben Whishaw and Ralph Fiennes brought more personality to their roles. And I do agree with many reviewers that Andrew Scott is much too “one note” as an actor to be anything else but an annoyance. I kept thinking – what is Moriarty doing in this film? I just read Scott is in the new Frankenstein movie – oh no, please no.… Expand

While Spectre delivers on style, compared to Skyfall it lacks some substance. Don't get me wrong this is still a pretty good time, but compared to Skyfall and Casino Royale I wanted more. B+

Not bad but not necessarily good too. It picked up towards the end from the train fight scene but it just doesn't live up to other James Bond movies. Could be much better.

Well, It's kinda good. I find only this and 'Casino Royale' good ones (starring Daniel Craig) and I think that this one is even better. Kinda cool but like all 007 movies starring Craig, it's kinda blank and boring. I'd say it's 8/10 but thisWell, It's kinda good. Much better than the last two installments of the franchise. Definitely not original though. I feel that this is Craig's last bond film and the direction although safe gave me a good impression in the end. "Skyfall" it ain't, but it's still a generally entertaining installment in this long-running franchise. The action sequences, as usual, are terrific, and it's refreshing to see the overall story arc stretching from film to film. However, uneven pacing issues, an occasionally muddled script and plot devices that stretch credibility even for a James Bond movie really work against the film's strengths, keeping the picture from being as good as it might have otherwise been. It may be a bit of a letdown from the last installment in this series, but it's definitely not the end of 007.… Expand
