Putting your character in so much pain and then judging every single one of his actions? WOW!
Acting and Sound Mixing are fantastic, though.

2) As soon as Mathieu Amalric enters the scene, one cannot help but think of a sequel / reboot of "Le Scaphandre et le Papillon" (Schnabel 2007): identical private (melo-)drama that makes one regret the Herzog peak of "Land des Schweigens und der Dunkelheit" (1971).
3) The inability to adapt to noise when playing similar music and wearing an Einstürzende Neubauten t-shirt is not the best of consistency.… Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A depressing story of a drummer that loses his hearing and has a difficult time coming to grips with his new life without his hearing. I found the title "Sound of Metal" a little odd as there's no metal music in the movie, there's hardly any music at all.… Expand
