This is by no means one of the worst movies I have ever seen, but this is one of the most incredibly sub-par and mediocre offerings by Netflix I have ever seen. The biggest problem with the film is that Sierra Burgess herself is a really unlikable protagonist, and has a lot of problematic traits that were written for her. While I thought Shannon Purser did an okay job with what they were given, a lot of the lines feel like they were slapped on a first draft and then never edited or improved later. It's a really lazy Lifetime movie rip-off, and you can find much better things to watch on Netflix.… Expand

I have a very mixed opinion on this film. The title character, Sierra Burgess, isn't the most likeable character and carries very problematic traits. But this is better than some other netflix rom-coms but does fall flat at times. I did enjoyI have a very mixed opinion on this film. "Sierra Burgess Is a Loser" tem um título confuso, mas o filme é muito melhor que certas comédias românticas da Netflix. Noah Centineo e Shannon Purser fizeram um ótimo trabalho.

Sierra burgess is a real **** person and I hated everything about her character. I absolutely love this movie!!! It tells about a teenagers struggles in every day life and creates a creative and unique setting and story plot. Reminiscent of teen movies such as The Breakfast Club and Sixteen Candles, Sierra Burgess is a Loser was a fun take on the high school romcom genre in 2018. The movie isn't without its problems, but neither are fictional high school settings.

I adored this movie. I don't understand the criticisms that say "Sierra" is cliché, a recitation of teen movie tropes. I completely disagree. I thought the three main characters were rendered with an unusual degree of empathy. First, Sierra.I adored this movie. I don't understand the criticisms that say "Sierra" is cliché, a recitation of teen movie tropes. I completely disagree. I thought the three main characters were rendered with an unusual degree of empathy. First, Sierra. She's perfectly adorable. She's intelligent, strong, and tenacious. She doesn't have the same supermodel swagger as the popular girls at school though, and sometimes, this gets her feeling down. I really appreciated that this "nerd" was painted as someone completely likable, someone whole, someone bold. This isn't one of those "take off your glasses and let down your ponytail" makeover stories. There's no physical makeover needed. I really thought that was refreshing.

Veronica, popular 'it' girl, is not as perfect behind the scenes, something we learn pretty quickly, as does Sierra. Her family life is far from ideal and she has no aspirations beyond high school. Behind closed doors, she berates herself for being "moronica." Next, Jamey, the hot jock. He communicates via ASL with his little brother, who's deaf. They play video games together in their pajamas. He's not mean, and he's not shallow, and he really doesn't care much about who's cool and who's not. Perhaps the most likable jock character ever. Having just watched a slew of crappy 90s high school movies (Never Been Kissed, I'm looking at you), I found "Sierra" a breath of fresh air. The connections are authentic. It isn't cheesy. It's really unpredictable. There's no rehearsed speech at the prom to tell everyone to wake up and see beyond high school (as if that ever worked). Instead, there are genuine relationships forming, from friendships between two girls who thought they had nothing in common, to a sweet budding romance.… Expand

This movie will make you cringe. Sierra Burgess' character is manipulative and annoying. The plot is unrealistic and sends the wrong message that catfishing someone is okay because you're insecure. I love England £
