This movie is being unfairly panned. All I will say is this: I saw this yesterday with my wife and our four year old and all three of us laughed all the way through. Not sure what standard people are holding this up to. This is a very good movie.

I don't know what those critics are saying about the movie. There not kids, so how would they know how funny it is. Sometimes I wonder if I'm alone with that opinon, but it's true. Me, I'm twelve and trust me, it was a so-so movie, but still made my friend and my dad laugh. I really don't agree with the critics in red because they're not kids, we are, and you know what?! I loved that movie. Any Shrek movie do for me. I was expecting to laugh more, but I still laughed no matter what those paid people say about a movie. The movie was good and thats all what counts. You just have to trust me. Go watch the movie, then go to the reviews and you'll see how wrong they are about the movie. Go watch it and you won't be sorry. The critics are just embarrassed that it's like Hollywood. Go watch it. Trust me.… Expand

The movie wasn't terrible, it just wasn't anywhere as good as the first two, especially the second movie, which is my favorite in the series. Most of the cons came from Justin Timberlake's character.

Really, really good. Shrek 1 was a masterpiece. Shrek 2 was somewhat mediocre. This is brilliant. The plot is better than 2, the CGI is just beautiful, and it's really funny. Bring on Shrek 4!

The worst of the Shrek series, but it was still entertaining. Like another reviewer said, the fairy tale magic really was missing here, but the comedy packed into each part really was great.

The third installment in the franchise. I enjoyed this one too. I think mainly because Puss N Boots was introduced to it, without Puss it would have probably just been Shrek 2 all over again. What is wrong with the MPAA? PG for "Swashbuckling action". What an immature and disgraceful organization. Anyway, this movie was good. The worst of the three, no doubt. It is short, and this is not nessacarily a bad thing because it makes you want more from a possible fourth. It is hard to understand what the critics really think about Shrek 3. They seem to like it, only to a certian extent, however. Reel Views thinks that is is more of the same but that it is tiring out. Those two points clearly contradict eachother in the full review. To stop being so serious for a second, I would like to mention the fact that this movie is hilarious at times. Donkey is possibly funnier than ever and the new princess gang is brilliant to say the least. I loved the ending and loved Pinochio. Prince Charming is an annoying downside to the movie and Fiona is not really in the movie. Justin Timberlake takes a large portion of the movie and does a excellent job in his scenes with shrek. Not nearly as bad as people are making out. It's about on par with the second one. The audience I was with was really into it and laughed constantly. The first was the best, but this is still worth seeing.

Though it doesn't have the magic of the first Shrek, it is still good. My major complaint is that it is too short. I wish the jokes could have gone on for another hour. I really don't understand why this is getting such bad reviews. In my opinion, this movie was better than the 2nd but not as good as the first. My only complaints are that I feel Donkey and Puss weren't as funny as Shrek 2.

The Jokes of this sequel are so much funnier than the first two, but there are two problems with the movie: the movie was too fast-paced (-1) and Arthurs' lecture at the end was SOOOOOOOO LAAAAAAAAAMEE!!!!! (-1)

Shrek the Third is an enjoyable animated Dreamworks flick and a good addition to the Shrek franchise. A lot of the jokes are funny and it still has Puss-in-Boots in it. What more can I say?

I don't think it is as good as Shrek 1 or Shrek 2. It isn't as good because it recycles the same ideas. I do enjoy it overall though because there is more character development and a good ending.

Coming off of the last one this doesn't really compare. It just didn't have the same magical fairytale feel as the others. I still laughed a lot and love the characters.

The first Shrek was funny and original, and one of my favourites of its year. The first sequel was just as delightful and as charming, and while the third film wasn't as bad as I thought it would be it did suffer from being too tired andThe first Shrek was funny and original, and one of my favourites of its year. The first sequel was just as delightful and as charming, and while the third film wasn't as bad as I thought it would be it did suffer from being too tired and contrived. Shrek Forever After is an improvement on Shrek the Third while lacking the charm, heart and magic that was there clearly in the first two.

Thankfully, the story is not as contrived as it was in the third film. I loved the idea and it did start off well, the "what would life be like if Shrek had never existed?" reminded me of one of my all-time favourites, It's a Wonderful Life. However, in the middle act it did have its predictable parts. The pace sags a bit too in the middle act particularly when there are parts that don't have as much humour as I would have liked. Also, while the animation was very good on the whole, I did feel that Rumplestiltskin's facial expressions were occasionally overdone and forced.

Criticisms aside, the animation is very good, very colourful and lively with some nice backgrounds. The soundtrack is also great, while the jokes are fresher and wittier than the last one, Donkey getting the best of them. The characters are still likable, the pace is in general snappy and the writing is amusing. The voice acting is also top notch, not only from Mike Myers and Cameron Diaz who are rock-solid but especially from Eddie Murphy who seamlessly comes very close to stealing the film while Antonio Banderas makes a welcome return as Puss.

Overall, not a classic but an improvement and an entertaining film. 7/10 Bethany Cox… Expand

There were many reasons why - Shrek looked ugly, the animation wasn't exactly what I'd call 'gorgeous', and the little me couldn't tolerate seeing a princess beat up soldiers (I know, it happens in Shrek 2 and Shrek the Third but I couldn't tell the difference). So I finally watched it, just to see what all happens in it and why exactly does everyone meme it so much. I liked the first two so much that I decided to watch this movie too, and it was... meh.
Shrek the Third started off really well. But the problem with this movie is that, well, it created an expectation too high. The first five minutes were actually very good, with Prince Charming grieving over his mother's death and everyone mocking him. But immediately afterwards it changed to the bad guys deciding to hate him for being bad. This didn't make sense, because that's literally what bad guys do. And then the bad guys unite to wreak havoc and... Remove a stamp? It looked like a joke that could have been in any other movie.
Speaking of jokes that could have been in literally any other movie, there are plenty that happen over here. The king dying and then coming back to life before dying properly, Shrek throwing a champagne bottle at a ship making it sink, Puss explaining how babies are made, Shrek and Donkey threatening the librarian (I still remember seeing that scene in the trailer as a kid), Puss and Donkey not being restored to their original bodies completely in the end and of course, the entire plot of Arthur being a loser.
But of course this movie isn't absolutely terrible. I really liked the speeches that Arthur gave; once at the campfire when he and Shrek talked about their lives and once in the end where they defeat Prince Charming. The part where Puss tries to look cute when he's in Donkey's body and the soldiers get disgusted was also hilarious. I also enjoyed the part where all the princesses come together to storm the castle. I hated that scene as a kid but now I find it funny.
Shrek the Third is the only 3rd movie of a franchise that I have ever realised wasn't as good as the previous ones. I watched Spider-Man 3, Star Wars: Episode VI, Despicable Me 3 and even played Batman: Arkham Origins, and I really liked them all as much as I liked the other two. It doesn't have quite the charm that the first two movies, for that matter all the other three movies have. It's a pity that I really wanted to like this movie, but it seems too mediocre. I spent my whole life searching far and wide to understand Shrek the third. I finally understand his beauty with that being said this movie was awesome. Thats why i give it a 10
