Though Shrek 2 loses some of the magic and charm of its predecessor, it's still a fun and entertaining follow-up to Shrek.

The movie is much mature in content than Shrek 1. But lacks the overall heart and sentimentality that made the original, the Dreamwork's very first standard of their ingenious film career.

Shrek 2 explores family relationships and the continuous plot from it's predecessor. Has unexpected turns and twists in the story and memorable characters to behold. The voice casts has solid skills in providing voices for the animation casts. The movie even manages to pull of humorous copycats of famous real-world landmarks and famous iconic movie characters which is ingenious and a necessary improvement over the original.

Overall, a rare sequel that still manages to capture the freshness of the first one in other aspects. Great work Dreamworks! Rating: 4/5 -> 8/10 stars

Unlike traditional sequels, let alone comedy sequels, 'Shrek 2' works like a perfect 90-minute extension to the predecessor by picking right off from where the last one ended to deliver the exact same level of humour, charm, well-castedUnlike traditional sequels, let alone comedy sequels, 'Shrek 2' works like a perfect 90-minute extension to the predecessor by picking right off from where the last one ended to deliver the exact same level of humour, charm, well-casted characters, and creativity without skipping a beat. Everything you've come to love about the first film is pulled off with great success again without feeling rehashed. In retrospect, if both films were combined, I think a stronger result may have occurred! Expand

Sequel to the highly entertaining erm..Shrek.
Funny in places but also quite annoying too. Really didn't like the Fairy Godmother character (Yes I know she's the baddie) but came across in parts as a bit smug & some of the gags were just lazy.
The music tends to be badly recycled covers with the exception of Tom Waits & Nick Cave.
So ok but not as good as the first.

Blatantly sentimental where the original was clever, Shrek 2 is the sort of movie the original would have made fun of. The charm wears off quickly. "Shrek 2" is a decent movie using the same formula from "Shrek". But hey, its still very funny and entertaining to watch.

Another stale installment of the Shrek series with its plethora of fart jokes and bad Scottish accents. Nothing new. This series could've saved itself, at least a little bit,by not being a series at all and stopping at the first one.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Honestly don't get the hype behind this film. I find the first to be better by a long shot. It's a perfectly fine film but ehh I don't find it nearly as good as some people say it is. Although, the I Need a Hero end scene was pretty darn cool. Expand

It's about as good as the first movie or perhaps a bit better. "Need a Hero" at the end is awesome.

A bit funny, but the first one it's that good that leaves Shrek 2 in the dust.
