Two words "fast forward." Interesting concoction of a movie. Everything but the kitchen sink.

I challenge anyone to find a more ridiculous, one-dimensional group of characters than the antagonists in this movie. Even cartoons have more nuance. But if you can get past that, absolutely worth watching. Expand

Could have been edited down to 2 hours fairly easily while keeping the theme that the English in India in the 1920’s were mostly psychopaths and murderers. I hope that most viewers know that the story is fiction. I did enjoy the special effects, dance numbers and scenery. It will be interesting to see what this team comes up with next now that they have an international audience. Expand

Definitely a fun time, all about the bromance but that section was the shortest it seemed.

How much should you celebrate the excess when you start to feel the effects of exhaustion even in the heat of the event?
A fair question for this overly long film.

Now, anyone who has seen an Indian film knows what these do, and for those who haven't seen one, if this is your first, go with my blessing and admiration.

Also, as I recently discussed with Top Gun: Maverick. Uncomplicated entertainment can be short-lived, but as long as it serves its purpose and of course has made its profit, the rest is irrelevant.

RRR is something along those lines. It's an epic that indulges itself in all possible excesses.
It's a bold extravaganza. Cheerful, colorful, musical, violent, extravagant, comical, flamboyant, dramatic and a bit hilarious. All focused on making this story a really really big show. And it works to a certain degree, after all, its shortcomings are clearly plot-related, but when you're making a 3-hour film that intersperses dance and singing sequences with such wacky fights, the least important thing is the story and both the filmmakers and the actors know it.

That's why I do recommend and applaud this film for its fearless and ambitious staging. It's a lavish and impressive show there's no doubt about that, it's just that it's not a great film.

OK action flick but has been way overhyped. I felt that the story was ok at best. I have seen other movies from India with better story and action.

can't help rolling my eyes and being too cheesy, but bromance, or what it is called is rare to see in Indian movies, right? a kind of progress!

Horrendous CGI aside, the dance scenes were super dope, especially that dance battle. Me and my boy actually wanted to give the dance a try. It won't be that good, but the point is that the actors were damn entertaining and amazing executing those moves

This movie would have been better if it was a gay love story, since the love interests of both actors have negligible roles anyway. Rajamouli made a terrible mistake by not letting Ramcharan and NTR kiss onscreen.

It's quite fun but... utterly ridiculous. Not a cerebral piece worthy of the lengthy reviews featured herein.

If India made Sharknado would it receive such high acclaim? Entertaining, but in no way a good movie.

I agree with one of the critics that the movie is so loyal to being a legend rather than a story. It is ridiculous from time to time. I cannot say I dislike the movie, but just not sure how to make sense of it.

It’s definitely an acquired taste and eminently commercial, but it’s not exactly something one could characterize as epic, groundbreaking cinema. Which is why I’m stunned by all of the attention and awards season buzz that’s being showered on this over-the-top offering, one that’s fairly typical of releases in this genre. In this hypothetical “what if” tale about a fictitious meeting between a pair of Indian freedom fighters who struggled against brutal British colonial rule (and who never met in real life), writer-director S.S. Rajamouli takes viewers on a whirlwind action-adventure saga that’s preposterous, predictable, clichéd, at times juvenile, and, above all, exhausting by the time one reaches the end of its 3+-hour runtime. The trite dialogue, corny narrative, cheesy CGI effects (particularly the film’s wild animals) and monodimensional characters (most notably the big bad Brits who come across more like caricatures than villains) are all laughable, almost as much as the film’s fight sequences, which play like scenes from the “John Wick” and “Matrix” franchises with a dash of martial arts flicks thrown in for good measure. In fact, were it not for the seemingly incessant runtime, this might qualify as one of those good “bad” offerings for a group movie night, though the film becomes tiresome about an hour in and can’t adequately sustain that sense of high camp for more than 180 minutes. In its defense, the picture’s choreography in the musical sequences is commendable (if at times it’s like watching a protracted aerobics class), and the costumes, art direction and set design are all noteworthy (save, of course, for a shattered marble railing in one scene that looks like the Styrofoam from which it appears to have been made). Given all of the foregoing, however, I’m truly perplexed why this release has been singled out from the other films in this genre as the beneficiary of such generous awards season recognition, perhaps other than the fact that it has been a huge box office hit worldwide, which may well have something to do with that. But is that milestone enough to drive the ample bestowing of such accolades? Remember, popcorn may qualify as a great snack, but it certainly does not a meal make. Expand

I am used to exaggerated storylines and over the top acting, but this was too much, even for me. The characters were extremely 2 dimensional for you to even care about them. This overexaggerated plotline only works if the characters are well written and if it can bring you some sympathy towards them. Neither the villain nor the protagonist were likeable. The Bromance came out of nowhere and not convincing. The CGI were terrible and the acting too cheesy, I felt the cheesiness oozing from the screen, and that's not a compliment, I cringed really hard that I had to bail out on the movie halfway. score of 1 point for effort. The fact that people think that British audiences should feel jealous and angry at this movie is just bizarre. I think that British audiences couldn’t care less for being depicted as evil a-holes in this movie. Just like American audiences didn’t seem to mind how they were depicted in “Dances with Wolves”. RRR managed to impress audiences around the world at just how bad this movie is.

I was thoroughly entertained by the constant insane escapades on screen, but not because it was good. In fact, I'd say it was Really Rather Ridiculous.
