I found this movie quite entertaining and profound in sex slavery. I dont know why critics dont like it. Maybe they did find prostitutes sometimes and this film like clawing their dark secrets.

No one does the doomsday dance better than they do. Its Rambo like its always been since the past four rambo movies. Dont be a hipster about the first movie. Get over it. Stallone shows how to entertain fans of the classic action movie genre! It is clearly visible, that this is not a big scale production like the big hollywood movies. I mean this in the good and the bad meaning. Good, because this gives the movie more freedom and the audience forgives little errors and shortcomings easy. Bad because you can clearly see, that this is a B movie, by the quality of the photography and the CGI. But it is still perfectly watchable. Not really bad.
It manages to create hate in the audience for the bad guys. It makes the audience want Rambo to kill them all.
Dont expect a masterwork here. Dont expect a serious in depth investigation into the specific topic. This is a rambo movie. And it does exactly what the audience expects from a rambo movie. Well done!
I give it nine stars, because it was one of the best movies i watched this year, minus one star for poor technical execution and somewhat flat characters.
The first movie in years, which i left with a smile.

Can't wait to see the professional film critic's reviews for the next Black Panther film....I'm sure politics won't play a role in their opinions as much as it has with this film.... Btw I hate politics and don't vote, but do like good action movies. The words Xenophobic and Trump were used in almost every critic's review I've read on this film, grow the hell up please. Yea, Rambo killing a bunch of people in a gruesome way. You get that. Beside that, the movie tries to build up characters, but that takes to much time and is boring from time to time. All in all it´s not as good as the previous Rambo movie but not as bad as Rambo III. At least the cinematography is cool and the soundtrack is decent. A fun flick, real fans of the franchise can enjoy. And because critics hate it, because of ridiculous reasons I give it one point more. Expand

Without spoiling anything Last Blood is the same formula as other Rambo movie (except the first, which has more substance). John Rambo struggles to let go, he feels guilty for all his friends and innocents left behind, then he goes on a sadistic vendetta. Sylvester Stallone will soon be 80 years old, but still continues to run around with a bow and machete to punish the bad guys. This time from Vietnam to Mexico. Mr. Stallone does not seem to lose his dexterity and can still go to the partisans. The film itself looks more alive compared to the previous part, it is more dramatic and gradually increasing the degree of tension and feelings for the protagonist, but unfortunately this spoils everything too quickly. When you are just starting to enjoy the spectacle, and it has already ended, and this, unfortunately, stands out very much against the background of all other parts of Rambo. Expand

Guns, carnage, xenophobia - everything you could want from a Rambo movie; hugely entertaining

Which is the more "responsible" - the hard R-rated movie that makes no bones about its violent content, or the equally violent PG-13 movie that removes the gore but leaves the savagery? Last Blood is only moderately more violent than many of today's action blockbusters, it's a damn-sight more honest in its depiction of the impact of violence on the human body. Now, make no mistake, it's no masterpiece. In fact, it's barely a movie at all (the script is so rudimentary, it rivals the dizzying complexities of Rocky IV). However, much like Rocky IV, it's immensely enjoyable in its ridiculousness.

Living on his father's ranch in Bowie, Arizona, all is well for Rambo (Slyvester Stallone) - he works breaking in horses and shares his home with live-in housekeeper Maria (Adriana Barraza) and her teenage granddaughter Gabriela (Yvette Monreal), who he helped to raise. However, when Gabriela goes to Mexico, and is abducted by the Martinez brothers, Hugo (Sergio Peris-Mencheta) and Victor (Óscar Jaenada), she is forced into prostitution. And so, Rambo, realising he can't fight the cartel on their terms, decides to lure them back to Arizona, where he can fight them on his.

Rambo was introduced in First Blood (1982) as the embodiment of the argument that you can't create killing machines for use in a foreign war and then simply bring them home and expect them to reintegrate. However, by the time of Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985) and Rambo III (1988), a time when the US exuded an over-compensatory machismo, Rambo had become the embodiment of jingoistic Regan-era militarism. In essence, he had changed from a symbol for the psychological damage of war to an undefeatable icon of American military might.

Which brings us to Last Blood. Written by Stallone and Matthew Cirulnick, from a story by Dan Gordon, and directed by Adrian Grunberg, Last Blood sees Rambo facing off against the bad hombres south of the border. And with a border this porous (characters easily cross over with weaponry, drugs, dead bodies, and decapitated heads), the only person who can protect the US of A from such villains is Don J. Trumpo...sorry, John J. Rambo.

However, having said that, this is the least political film in the franchise. It doesn't explicitly deal with any real-world conflict and it's not set in an inherently politicised milieu. In moving out of the arena of politics, the storyline is more personal, with Rambo showing more emotion than we've seen from him since the opening few scenes of First Blood. We also see Rambo in a home, we see him trying to keep his demons at bay, we see him, for arguably the first time, with something to lose.

Of course, the film's selling point is the action. Here, the entire third-act is one long action scene, that's well shot by Grunberg and cinematographer Brendan Galvin. The violence is kind of the inverse of the sleek action in the John Wick films - it's dark, gritty, and brutal, and whereas those films often create the impression of near weightlessness, here, it's the tangible physicality that works so well rather than anything balletic.

Of course, none of this is to downplay the film's laughably simplistic politics, barely disguised xenophobia, and fetishisation of weaponry. But you either enjoy it for what it is, or you shake your head in disbelief that such a film has been mde. A good example of how you either decry the stupidity or celebrate the ridiculousness is the Mexican portion of the story. The character of Gabriela's friend Gizelle (Fenessa Pineda), for example, dresses like the only research the costume department did was to watch Stand and Deliver (1988), whilst poor Gabriela gets abducted after ONE night in Mexico. And as for the porousness of the border, I'm not sure if it's appallingly lazy writing or satirical genius, but Rambo gets back into the US by simply ploughing his truck through the wire mesh fence. He wouldn't have been able to do that if there'd been a wall.

A criticism that I would treat a little more seriously, however, is that the film doesn't have any sense of finality. Nothing happens at any point that seems like a fitting send-off for the character. In fact, the previous film felt more final than this one. Another problem is the script. Much as Rocky IV was two boxing matches loosely tied together by montages, Last Blood is 40 minutes of plot loosely connected to an extended action scene also via a series of montages.

In many ways, Last Blood is a hilariously bad film. But it's also hugely entertaining. Sure, the violence is off the chart and the politics are hilariously naïve at best, dangerously reductionist at worse. But it's well shot, Stallone gives a strong performance, the action is intense, and none of the problems render the film unenjoyable. Approach it with the right frame of mind, and you'll find much to appreciate.

Wow. This movie is freaking brutal. From the conversations, to the action and even innocent teenagers aren't safe! And it makes for a good movie!

Rambo: Last Blood is the fifth and (presumably) the last Rambo movie with Sylvester Stallone. John Rambo has settled down on his family farm breeding horses, and even has a daughter he fathers. All seems well until the daughter finds her abusive father in Mexico, and decides to visit him. The father gives the brutal truth to her, but that is not the thing that gets her in trouble. A lot of trouble! John travels to Mexico to find and safe her, but things don't work out as we all hope.

Last Blood could easily be renamed Oceans of blood, as people are sliced, diced and grinded to such small pulp it will make beach sand look like M&M's. The movie takes a lot of effort to show the relationship between Rambo and his daughter, and makes you sit at the edge of your seat as stuff gets really dark. In fact, watching bad people die in horrible ways after what they did never felt so gratifying. May they burn in hell.

The connections between the characters feels real, and it plays on your heart strings. Action and brutality is so vicious and gory that it will make you feel sorry for the victims, even if they are terrible people.

It's an excellent action movie, showing another chapter in the life of John Rambo. Unfortunately this is not a happy story at all, but that is the essence of Rambo. He has lived in a world of life of death, and as people around him die he gets to live with the sorrow.

I did notice a few weird things in the movie. A lot of camera shots were zoomed in so much that it only captured 50% of people's faces, which i found to be odd. Some scenes happen too abruptly, as if there's a whole scene in between missing. It did not hurt my enjoyment of the movie luckily. I can recommend this movie. I give it a 8/10.

As the name suggests, this time it is the last time we get the opportunity to see Ramba roar and kill all the enemies around us. So did we get a proper conclusion? Ladies and gentlemen, think of me as a fool, but definitely for me! I apologize to the fans of number one or the previous part from 2008, but I just liked this part the most. I would start by saying that the film, as the previous one, takes time. He introduces us to the characters and it ... represents it further? Yes it's right. We'll wait for the event for a while. It won't be right away, as in previous episodes from the 80's. The environment has also undergone a change. I understand that not everyone will be a fan of where the film takes place. It's just not the forest anymore, the jungle, the desert. No. This time we will look at the city, specifically Mexico. For me, a great change and a city from which it was easy to feel that there was a cartel in it, which, as you can guess, Rambo intends to destroy, and that he has a damn good reason to do so, but I won't spoil it anymore. In short, the film takes its time and we will see proper events only at the end, but I dare say that it is worth it and that Rambo's last action had grades, I was sorry that it is the last, but better to end the series well than it would be. it became an endless series that would gradually begin to lose quality. In my opinion, the overall ending was done in number one and I just liked it. In my eyes, this is a wonderful end to the series. Great movie for me, which I recommend. Expand

Yes some parts were either unnecessary there or too classic to such type of movies (that bad guys randomly didn't kill him), but it was still ok movie since Rambo is more about action anyway Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.
Totalmente recomendada.

What you have to keep in mind, that this movie is a respectfull tribute to the thing called RAMBO legacy. There is a tribute to first blood with shellshock sequences, a tribute to the second movie with a desire to help desperate people, a tribute to the third instalment with one man army killing a horde of bad guys, and ofcourse a tribute to the fourth film with all the gory and juicy violence. If your looking for drama, you wont find it here. Just same old Rambo. If your looking for strong plot, you wont find it here. Simple and fast developing story. More than that, if your looking for long action sequences, you wont find it here. Just one 20 minutes action scene at the very end, but it is gory, primal, slasher type and fantastic. So its up to you, to deside. No respect for Rambo? Pass it. Don't torture yourself. This movie made for those who allways welcome thier beloved buddy, their old friend. And those people will find what they are looking for here. Expand

The film is littered with ultra-violent set pieces and manages to keep a brisk pace while the carnage spews on-screen. The story is half-baked and the script leaves much to be desired, but that's exactly why this series is not for everyone to enjoy. But for the sickos (like me), this one is a bloody and brutally fun ride from start to finish. Expand

'Rambo: Last Blood' might just be the biggest guilty pleasure movie released in 2019. It's violent, sometimes poignant, and even just outright crazy knowing that devoted fans will eat it up anyway. It does lack in compelling supporting characters, and perhaps the short run-time may have had something to do with this. Sylvester Stallone reprises his role as John Rambo, living a somewhat peaceful life, residing in Arazona, he looks after a young girl named Gabriela (Yvette Monreal) who tells him that a friend of hers in Mexico has managed to track down her father who abandoned her when she was very young. Rambo is reluctant for her to travel to Mexico simply because her father, he claims, wanted nothing to do with her, which is why she should be grateful for the life that he has given her instead. She decides to secretly travel to Mexico anyway, where she winds up at the hands of some sex traffickers known as "The Martinez Brothers". They drug their victims and perform all kinds of horrific acts onto young girls. Rambo manages to hear about this and does everything he can to try and find her. Think of this movie like 'Taken' (2008) with the style of 'Logan' (2017). As I said, this is a guilty pleasure movie. If you've been a die-hard fan of the previous "Rambo" installments, you're more than likely to find some enjoyment in this. As I said, my main criticisms towards this movie mainly stems from the underdeveloped supporting characters that we see. The villain in this movie barely gets that much screen-time, and there is another character in this film who only shows up for two scenes. Overall, it's ridiculous, violent, over-the-top, and sometimes it tries to get serious for its dramatic moments. I enjoyed it for what it is, but that's no guarantee for me to even label this as a "great film", it just is what it is, and for many, that's more than enough. Take it or leave it. Expand

If that sounds like taken that's because it pretty much is. The story is the weakest part of this movie, it's mainly a bunch of typical elements I've seen in other action films. So if the story is bad maybe the characters are memorable, but unfortunately the only characters name I can even remember is Rambo's. If this is the case than why is I'm giving this an okay rating instead of a bad one? Well that would be because of the only other thing that matters in a movie like this, the action. This film is the most brutal action film I have ever seen, and I love it. The way this film shoots the action is incredible you can feel every hit. I really hope future action films take a notice of this one I would love to see more action like this. In conclusion if you are looking for an action film with action unlike any other than this film is for you. Expand

Other than Rambo, I could care less about the story and the characters themselves so all you're really left with is a boring revenge story, shootouts, rolling heads (literally), and what seems like a forced ending to the Rambo series cash grab. "I've lived in a world of death. I've watched people I've loved die. Some fast with a bullet, some not enough left to bury."

'Last Blood' feels incredibly uneven with it being the "finale". I put that in quote as Stallone has said he's open to continue playing the character if the movie is successful.

However, the overall conclusion was lacking in my opinion.

Despite what critics have said, this is nowhere near as gory as Rambo 4, but not to say this movie isn't brutal, because it's an absolute beast towards the end. So it's not on the level of 'Texas Chainsaw', but it's no 'Logan', which this movie was clearly influenced by.

This movie is dark, like really dark - out of the entire franchise. Stallone truly shines whenever his animal instincts kicks in. Rambo is the most tragic character Stallone has ever played.

Even through it's called 'Last Blood', I doubt Stallone isn't thirsty for more.

Instead of opposing an evil government conspiracy, he's after a Mexican who kidnaps women to serve as whores. After suffering thru the inevitable purposeful dramatic moments, Rambo finally gets to set up an elaborate scheme of booby traps, which only makes sense because it gives him a high kill count. (Why didn't he just blow up the tunnel and get them all at once?) The action isn't especially original or inventive, but it does give Stallone a chance to be viciously bloody. Unquestionably there are many people who enjoy action films regardless of their quality. And Rambo is an icon of the genre, therefore a lot of people will be interested in watching a new film of the character.

For my part it has never been like this and therefore I wasn't particularly attracted to this new installment.

Last Blood is nothing more than another empty addition to Sylvester Stallone's career, it doesn't add anything to the franchise or the character for that matter and let's be honest after so many years Rambo is something that's more or less outdated and this film shows it because it obviously tries to sustain its incredible hollow plot with violence.

It wasn't for me.

The 2nd movie is basically a horror-fans fantasy... watch these 18 men all die 1 by 1 by the gruesome monster! It sure seems like the writers just gave up one day or the budget ran out, so they tacked on the 2nd part. But... for a series finale, it was still probably an ok way to go out. At best, any movie in the series after First Blood, including this one, is a dumb brainless splashy meatfest. At worst, Last Blood is a weird violent fantasy for the "THEY TERKER JERBS DERKER DER" crowd. Save your money and spend them on Stallone projects that are actually worth something, like BluRays of the Rocky and Creed films.

This starts off surprisingly well and should have been a standalone movie without the Rambo character (the brand recognition was their only reason to make it of course) but degenerates into the awful needless sequel expected. The revengeThis starts off surprisingly well and should have been a standalone movie without the Rambo character (the brand recognition was their only reason to make it of course) but degenerates into the awful needless sequel expected. The revenge story is so very tired and the violence so ridiculously gratuitously over-the-top to the point of spoof (even more than the last gruesome shameful entry, "Rambo" of 2008), the makers should all be punished. "First Blood" (10) was truly a great movie, the only serious one. "Rambo: First Blood Part II" (5) was a rousing silly cartoon and enormous hit. The rest all lousy, the third the only even viable. Terrible pacing, CGI that might actually be worse than 4's, completely meaningless characters outside of Rambo himself, and a finale and ending that feels rushed and dissatisfying when compared to the previous entries. Not to mention the trailers spoiled all of the good parts, straight up.

The incipit is that of Coppola who forty years ago synthesized Vietnam, the Doors and symptoms of PTSD. The question of marketing is: how much can the re-proposal of a complaint against nihilism be of interest, when human culture is essentially imbued with survival strategies, defense mechanisms, attempts at escapism remedy from such an awareness? Tarantino has pointed the way: an affabulation that goes nowhere and so much grindhouse shooter ultraviolence to fill this cosmic void. Appreciated, praised, celebrated, Stallone and his new Rambo adapt themselves. And also David Morrell should try to understand what has changed in almost half a century instead of tweeting anathemas There is even a polarization of Hollywood geopolitics towards Mexico, from the Oscars to the "three amigos" and Coco to the new evil empire ("Breaking Bad", the Villeneuve of "Sicario"), but this has nothing to do with cinematic art.

As a huge fan of First Blood and Rambo this was horrible. Nothing about this movie reminds you of the first two. It’s Home Alone with gore. Now, if you want Home Alone with gore, it’s a 10. If you want Rambo it’s a 2.

One of the worst films of 2019 and the worst movie of the franchise. Stallone should have learned from A Good Day To Die Hard and ended with 4.

Rambo is the most racist hypocritical movie I've seen in 10 years. An all-American war hero. Created by a Canadian. Filmed in Spain. Using 100% Russian Carpenters. And 100% Bulgarian special effects. I saw a hypocrite white Gringo straightening out yellow bad men. That's it. That's the whole freaking plot. There is NO message in this movie other than "hate the Mexicans" that's why the whole damned thing had to be shot in Spain! Expand

Watched this movie during the COVID-19 lock-down and it was everything I thought it would be. It is absolute garbage. It took almost an hour before we got any action lasting more than 5 seconds, the setting is idiotic, Sly does what he can but there's zero characters of any weight in it if not for Rambo himself and he's just a brutal old man, the action is stupid, it's just brutality for the sake of it, guys with their heads blown of gets another shotgun shell for no reason, some of the effects are terrible, some of the cinematography looks like it's out of Two and a Half Men, a lot happens of camera but at least that means the movies only 90 minutes but worst of all..... This has nothing to do with a Rambo movie. It's like a Taken/John Wick hybrid with bad action scenes and zero believability. IT was like watching the last Die Hard. IT had nothing to do with Die Hard. It was just Bruce Willis doing stuff. Eventhough the 2nd and 3rd Rambo movie go a bit 80's action movie bonkers it's still Rambo movies. John Rambo has to do something because he's the only one that can. In the 4th one the plot is so dumb but Rambo as a character stays true to himself. Here he wants revenge because some girl did something stupid. In the 2nd and 3rd movie he has to save the POW's or Trautman because of the mission he is on or was asked to do. They still have ties to First Blood because he's still dealing with the war and is trying to do the right thing. Here it's just revenge and it's **** Pointless. Expand
