This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. What in God's name did I just watch? That was one of the most painful experiences I have ever witnessed. I'm seriously close to saying "The Predator" was better and I even walked out of that movie. I didn't even see the whole thing.

Pros: 1. Cinematography - Not going to lie here. That was some top notch visual cinematography from a low budget film. Well done.

2. The dog doesn't die.

That's it. That's literally it. There was nothing else good about this movie.

Cons: 1. Borderline rated R. So many "reviews" out there saying how gory it was. This movie was not gory at all. As a matter of fact, it's easily the least gory of the entire series. A lot of kills are done from far away or the scene cuts out.

2. Acting was below average at best.

3. How in God's name does a human being from the early 1700's fully comprehend an alien species and their technology. When it uses its mask first, she automatically understands how and why. Then she steps in a bear trap (that she is able to easily walk off from afterwards as if she didn't suffer any broken bones or anything) and is kidnapped by French Trappers who automatically know what the creature is there for all because they find a weapon. Then at the end, she takes the mask (because she automatically knows how the mask works) and uses it against the Predator to kill him in the stupidest way possible. Which basically tells you that all the characters just automatically know things throughout this movie, No build up. No need to study. No needing of any comprehension whatsoever to explain this anomaly that flew in from space. They just see something once and they know. Or, they see it do something and just know what it's doing.

4. The Predator - Oh my god... they made this Predator the weakest by leaps and bounds. This tiny little girl wins a hand to hand wrestling match against a bear bench pressing Predator. Plus, it made the most absolutely bone headed mistakes for a creature that hunts the grandest trophies throughout the universe. It was obvious the political agenda behind this film was the real reason they made this. And it's "roar" was PAINFULLY bland. The original Predator's roar was so amazing and awesome. This one just sounded like a bear. Nothing more or less. And with all of technology it carried that it just lets her win?

5. They do zero justice to the creature or canon. This creature was nothing more than just a typical villain. This movie would've been much better if it was just the Comanches VS trappers. I would've been way more understanding and interested. But, they make this Predator stupid and weak despite previous movies and comics, and they completely make the pistol from Predator 2 the pistol of a trapper. This creature hunted for centuries, but the Great Plains is now when they started? Not one of the screenwriters or director did any research on this whatsoever. At all.

6. Very slow start and very cliche ending. Anyone who was scared of what the movie may be like from the trailer. Trust me, it's exactly what you were worried about it was going to be. And to me, it was even worse.

7. Zero tension. No... no, no, no... There were absolutely no parts of this movie where I felt tense whatsoever. As a matter of fact, when you assumed something was going to happen? Yup, it does. In a painfully cliché way.

In closing, I'm more than okay with native Americans getting their time to shine on the big screen. In a society filled with women empowerment, I'm okay with movies starring a female lead. Ripley, Sarah Connor, etc. They used their grit and their smarts. This movie was completely the opposite. This movie is a cash grab that takes a beloved character and uses that character to show that humans were way smarter than history states to where they comprehend alien technology so easily. And how women are so strong that a small 100 pound girl can win a wrestling match against a 7'0 killer that spends each and every waking moment hunting and gathering its trophies. It does absolutely zero justice to the creature. Absolutely none. At this point, any time there's a new Predator movie, there's no need for excitement. Because, I'm the end, they're just going to lose.

You all should be ashamed of yourselves for praising films like this. This was easily one of the worst films I've ever seen. It's so bad, I even regret the Predator tattoo on my arm.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. So much rubbish review. The movie is not woke.. It has good and bad things..
The bad things are
- The CGI is not A-grade.
- The english spoken language puts you off.
- Re-use of "If it bleeds we can kill it" was a poor move.
The girl does not kill the predator all alone. She gets plenty of help from "men" to weaken it.
It features a Predator that is less technologically equipped since we are 300 years back in time. No Zapper canon or explosives is used.
Its not perfect, but its far better than the garbage Shane Black released a few years ago.
Good entertainment flick. Plenty of blood and gore.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Prey keeps up with the tradition that each Predator movie must worse than the one before. It was hard to make a movie worse than The Predator, but congratulations to Dan Trachtenberg for pulling that off. At least The Predator had some nice comradery between the main cast, just like the Original; this movie has zero characters other than the protagonist and her brother that are anything more than people that die. Now, speaking of the protagonist, I don't care what simps with mommy issues think, but female protagonists don't work in a Predator movie for the same reason that male protagonists would not have worked in the Alien movies: both series play with different themes that are better explored with protagonists of different sexes. It doesn't help that Sacagawea(no, I don't remember her real name in the movie) is really annoying and that she has the most generic Female Protagonist motivation: to prove that she is just as good as the boys at boys stuff. This leads her on a quest to tack down the Predator which ends up in the death of every young male warrior in her tribe. This is even funnier because her brother(and the movie) makes a big deal about Hunting being about survival.

The Predator in the movie is not any better either. First off, it has the worst design of any movie until now. In the first and second Predator movie, when the creature's face was revealed, it looked otherwordly but also very real at the same time. This is why it has one of the most iconic creature designs ever. Here it has even more cartoonish mandibles than in the previous film plus a really silly Skull Mask that looks like a generic monster design in a Video Game. It's also very stupid, charging heads-on in confrontations with dozens of armed opponents, as oppossed to the creatures in previous movies that were patient, calculated hunters. Lastly, the movie makes the whole premise behind the Predators stupid. In the first movie it made some sense that these creatures come to Earth to hunt Commandos and Special Forces armed to the teeth with modern weapons. But do they really expect us to believe that these aiens travel hundreds of lightyears to hunt not only people with Stone Age technology but also snakes, coyotes and bears? You know, animals that humans have been hunting for millenia?

But don't worry, the Predator may be the main villain of the movie, but the real monsters are the White Men. They are no real threat for our protagonist though, who, despite being shown to not be a great huntress or warrior earlier, takes down six of them with no issues. Oh, yeah, and the movie is full of stupid references to the Original, it even explains that stupid pistol at the end of Predator 2.

I am only giving it a 1 because they had the decency to at least not call it Predator.

This is how you reinvent a franchise, without entirely breaking out of the mold, but looking to explore other narrative variants.

Not everything works, that was to be expected, but I definitely found it much better than the terribly disappointing 2018 movie and the middling 2010 installment.
We also have to be honest, mostly those who call it the best installment in the franchise since the original. It's not like Prey had a mountain to climb to top that. The one thing I find really problematic for the Predator mythos is that basically anyone can kill them.
I mean with all its technology and brute strength, you have a young Comanche girl with arrows, spears and a 17th century weapon to defeat it, that doesn't look good for your villain. I was entertained enough and that's all that counts considering I had no expectations before I started watching it. Needless to say, it's worth a look.

This should net a lot more work for the talent involved. It's a solid genre picture that delivers well on the premise of Predator vs. Native American tribe, which is a very cool idea. Sometimes cool screenplay ideas don't survive the rigorous detail required to flesh them out into actual films, but this one manages by keeping true to what makes the idea cool and paying it off repeatedly. Prey could achieve cult classic status particularly due to its unfortunate distribution fate. Without getting into the corporate politics of why this wasn't released in theaters, I'll just say that it's a theater-worthy experience unlike many movies which wind up with a similar fate. Expand

You get one of the best SciFi movies in years and the best Predator movie since the original. Naru is wiser and stronger than anyone realizes but hasn't had her true hunt yet and unfortunately her greatest test also happens to be something humanity itself isn't ready for; What follows from here is Predator vs anyone foolish enough to get in its way.. you want blood, gore, dismemberment, and unfeeling brutality? You got it, The Predator doesn't discriminate here and Naru sees it all happen herself and plans and learns from the battles of the fallen. I will not spoil the rest but the ending and final battle between Naru and The Predator is satisfying and feels earned and by the end you will feel you've gone on a journey with her as she rises to the top of her tribe and proves without a shadow of a doubt that she's a Predator herself. Really I love the first two films and their respective lore based on cannon from the comics.. this movie **** in it .avp was a weak film, avp requim sucked, predators was decent and the predator was just bad story.. but this goes to a new level... Predator can bare hand fight and kill a grizzly but cant knock out the protagonist who was knocked out twice, once by a rock and once by the fur trappers... Several of his blows should have incapacitated her.. then we have ****ty use of the traps grabbing the dogs tail? The CGI animals where atrocious especially the scene of the snakes eating the rodent . this was More like the yautja took their deformed disabled problem and dropped it on the planet as an experiment.. It was Big and dumb.. And then they proceed to **** on established Cannon with the pistol. Which already had a story and you guys chose not to make it and instead gave us this incredibly hard to get into story about a girl challenging cultural Norms because she has something to prove and becomess this parkour badass with skills a Chinese Monk would be proud of. And then the medicine GTFO out of here with that... This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Ignore the negative reviews completely. They're all written by thirteen year old virgins who hate women and think anti-slavery laws are 'wokism'. You know the type. None of them have seen a second of the film.

In truth there's nothing woke about it at all; the female character is convincingly inexperienced at first and manages to get by in fights by virtue of her opponents considering her non-threatening. Her brother is probably the most badass character in the whole film. 'Woke' is a meaningless word these days.

So the reason this film is so good is because it pares the mythology of the Predator back to the minimum: one Predator against the world. No Pred-dogs, no giant Predators, no Alien hybrids - just one unbelievably badass Yautja that carves its way through everything. It's an extremely simple setup, there's the barest hint of a plot - young comanche girl is underestimated and patronised by her tribe, she wants to complete the rite of passage that would allow her to become a hunter but is held back be everyone else, even her brother, who is an extremely successful hunter already. Predator arrives on the scene...all hell breaks loose. Add French colonialists into the mix and you've basically got an excuse for the Pred to chew through bodies in various inventively cool-looking ways.

One thing that's notable about Dan Trachtenberg(the writer and director of this movie, as well as the brilliantly entertaining The Boys tv show) is how good he is at conveying physicality in his work. He has an eye for a striking action shot and a brilliantly effective command of gore and violence. There are countless fantastic shots in this film; it really is just a long sequence of fantastic action scenes so don't come into it expecting any particularly good worldbuilding or characterisation(Why would you?) - what it does is dazzle you over and over with scenes that succeed in making the Predator genuinely scary and cool again. There's a particular scene early on that made me laugh out loud and replay it at least three times before I moved on: it's the reveal scene of the Predator(who has never looked cooler either by the way; with a face mask that looks like it was modeled on something from a Benicio del Toro movie and a lean, swaggering gait - the rendering on his face is excellent, which alas can't be said for some of the other CG in the movie) as it fights an eight foot tall grizzly bear. The bear and the Predator wrestle for a few seconds, the former lashing and biting at the Yautja as streaks of lurid green blood flash down his partially invisible body. The bear pushes the Predator down into the river and turns away assuming victory. Then we have a low camera angle as the Predator rises from the river slowly, not even facing the bear, which, enraged, charges at him to finish the job. We see it running at the Yautja as the latter looks at the camera, its invisibility camouflage flickering on and off ineffectively. And in one languid but swift movement the Predator step-rolls aside from the bear's path and with a ferocious right hook smashes it unconscious. It's an absolutely majestic shot, improved further when we see the camouflaged Predator hoiking up the bear's huge carcass onto its back and carrying it away, the grizzly's body seeming to hang in the air.

The film is full of moments like this. There are numerous scenes devoted to the wonderful tech that the Predator carries with it, including a ridiculous hunting net that pinions its luckless prey to the ground and shrinks around it, its razor sharp strings slicing through them and turning them into mulch. But the best is the fantastic Sekiro-like metal parasol-shield-blade it carries(and uses mainly to decapitate the villainous colonialists). Trachtenberg is just so good at this kind of stuff - and equally good at making you feel the weight and momentum of the violence, the Predator leaping towards the protagonist with such speed and ferocity you wince at how close it gets.

In all honesty it's a pretty predictable movie. Wisely it's not trying to be the next Annihilation or Arrival. It's an extremely lean action movie with a skeleton of a plot and barely any characterisation. But what it aims to do it does brilliantly and it has some of the most punchy visceral action you'll see anywhere right now. And perhaps most importantly it succeeds in making the Yautja a credible action movie concern again, for the first time since the original film. After dog aliens that play fetch with grenades and lanky 'mega' predators that consider ten year olds with Asperger's to be worthy opponents, this film reminds us just what a one-alien army these things are when they're portrayed as they should be. Given how hit and miss the films have been it's probably too much to hope that this will result in a sea change in quality for the franchise, but all I can say is if Trachtenberg has any interest at all in making a sequel they should bite his hand off.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Great movie . Good history . Good pacing . Good atmosphere . And bloody as hell. What’s the **** problem with the protagonist be a woman ???? The actress is very good and if you see the first 2 movies you know that all you need to beat a predator is brains not muscle . The Dutch itself have to use brain to beat the first predator . How I say the movie is really good and deserve respect among the predator franchise ok ? Stop saying that the girl is weak and skinny . If you are like me and live in the eighties and saw the first predator you know the real atmosphere of the movie and all you need to beat the predator is brains .
The movie make some connections with the others two like the gun that was give to Danny glover in the predator 2 . Overall this is a really good prequel of predator prequel and worth watch for sure . Don’t listen all the haters that give bad reviews of this movie because they no nothing about the predator movie.
Thanks for all that make this movie real good like the first and second one .

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I mean what does makes sense, you've got mighty Commanche tribe, French trappers, the former is just there for the placeholder and the trapper tried to fail miserably. The funny part is both factions were aware of the presence of predator but had to rely on teenage girl to deal with it, come on!

If the Commanches and French had teamed up and think of a strategy to ambush predator and achieved it at great cost, would've made much believable story.

The predator here must be the worst sort of their species, when I saw it getting caught in the bear trap so carelessly. Also it got no armor, doesn't toggles between invisibility (Battery improvements maybe) and sprays lots of glowing blood in every fight.

Complete murder of historical facts, dialogs like teenage school drama.

There's absolutely no fear or tension while being hunted by Technologically enhanced brutal Alien species.

And vote for worst character is for Naru's mother, why the dumb woman even there. Must've been casted in the movie by reference of the producer.

Advice to viewers, take the chill pill shown in the movie and forget this ever happened (Movie is helping us by giving us herbal formula for this with strange orange flower, can turn mammels into cold blodded animals :D )

Finally just wanted to know who the heck sanctions this kind of garbage?

A young woman (Amber Midthunder) is determined to be recognized as a good hunter, so she resolves to track down the mysterious monster. Even though some of his traits are different (earlier tech), he still has enormous powers to quickly dispatch man and beast. The action scenes are staged adequately and the action keeps moving. On the other hand, there's never anything original or unique about the writing or direction (other than the setting). While I'm sure the producers worked hard to assure culturally appropriate decisions, Midthunder sounds L.A. and looks Goth, plus the dialogue also uses 21st century syntax, which takes viewers out of the period. Overall, it's adequately made, but won't do much to move the franchise forward. Expand

I thoroughly enjoyed Prey,it isn't the overall top/best movie ever but it certainly does a brilliant job of keeping any Sci fi/Predator fan engaged, and to be fair it has really great fight scenes, the acting seems good,i thought the lead actress was great and gave the movie some bite, wardrobe spot on,scenery was legit using different locations and weathers,Predator itself was cool as f#@k,if not slightly different than previous Predators of the franchise, and the use of CGI was minimal or so it seemed at first watch.
Will certainly watch again!

There are issues in the film, such as a homing ax or the incredible luck of the characters, but there are also great moments when the Predator shines in all its glory, as in a battle with trapers in a burnt forest.
I highly recommend watching it, you won't regret it.

I'm not sure if it was a budget thing or they just didn't care, but the Predator and everything about how this one functioned ruled. Some of the best art design all around for everyone in the cast and especially the Predator. On the positive side the movie does not overstay its welcome. Sadly though it was over before I felt it really started. There is even a key moment that can be missed in the animated end credits that explains how the flintlock pistol makes its way through the ages. (Because it recaps the movie it's an almost blink and you'll miss it moment right as that ends.) The pacing and narrative is done very nicely as this is a really great example of showing verses telling the story. However, this is one film where I felt like a little more dialogue would have been welcome. There were a few confusing moments near the end of the film that I had to guess as to what was happening. If you are a fan of the Predator franchise then I don't think this disappoints. Expand

Most of the 0 and 1 are not that wrong and there swings this woke swords behind its neck and not in a good way. I try to but objective cause they really tried. A new setting and a more mainstream suited lead role. And I guess that's one of the problems. Predator was never mainstream and never about a coming of age story for a girl. It shows some horror and dark parts but it develops not straight forward in this way. It has also some very very predictable and standard plots and characters. But it also has some great scents and gives off the 18th century vibe they wanted to show. There could had been more of this. And the best at the end: the fight scenes. They are better than the average and I liked it. I wouldn't rewatch but I enjoyed it last evening and that's ok. Expand

All the men of the tribe are incredibly dumb, to the point that it's insulting. Heck, there are trappers that appear halfway through, and they more intelligent than the Indians - which doubles the insult. The protagonist's brother is only 'smart' when it suits the story, and in all other areas he is nearly as dumb as the other men. Speaking of the protagonist, she runs away from fights way too much and doesn’t even try to engage at key moments. I get they were trying to go for the 'coming of age' story, but they've failed. She is simultaneously stronger than everyone and yet weaker than everyone - and I'm talking about her will, not her physical strength. The film actually gets her physical strength right, which is saying something for Hollywood. She can't win on strength alone and most of her fights are not won by simply overpowering her opponents. It's one of the few highlights of the film. There is supposed to be a big reveal towards the end of the film, I'll leave that out of this review, but needless to say it is probably the wokest part of all. You'll know it when, or if, you see it. The Predator is another part of the film that was done very well, especially in its arsenal. I was worried at first when I found out the Predator would be using more 'primitive' weapons, but they're actually pretty awesome and work well within the setting. I also like the look of Predator's armor, the incorporated bone is a really nice touch. This film would have been an absolute failure, ridiculed to high heaven, if the Predator was not done right. I'd say the only thing to critique about it would be that it bleeds just a little too often. The fights in this film, as I alluded to earlier, are pretty good. I can't say there is anything particularly bad about them. The final fight with the Predator is great, and I like how it was done. The Protagonist does not try to use her physical strength, as she is a woman and naturally weaker. She uses her brain, and I like that. Though I will say that I wish some of the characters would have lasted a little longer. The very last scene leaves a little to be desired, because, again, wokeness plagues this film. Overall, the film suffers from several inconsistencies and wokeness, which bring down the film's score considerably. There are references to the first two films, and both feel out of place. One of the two references doesn't even make any sense. A lot of this film could be fixed by simply changing the dialogue in several places, and it would have made the film way better. Unfortunately, this is yet another franchise sacrificed at the alter of wokeness. Which is a shame, because underneath all the crap is a great film, that will never see the light of day. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. HOW TO SPOT A FAKE REVIEW 101: Notice they can't name a scene in the movie that didn't appear in the first trailer. Notice they use key Tucker-terms like "woke" and "mary-sue" and "100 lb girl." They HAVE to use those terms in each post because the hive-mind commands.
There's a lot of first day low score reviews on here of people who obviously didn't watch the movie, but are basing their reviews off of trailers and internet rage-boy hive-mind opinion.
"They shouldn't be speaking English they should be speaking Comanche!" There's a Comanche dub available.
How can a 100lb girl beat something that Arnold could barely kill?
Well, that question, my friend, is a multi-part answer. A) This predator is the smallest out of any predator we have ever seen (is it younger?) and has less advanced technology too. (300 years prior) It has no energy weapons like the shoulder plasma launcher we know and love and it's cloaking device fails pretty early in the movie.
B) By the time Naru gets around to fighting this predator, it has been seriously mauled by a grizzly, speared and shot by some Comanche, trapped and shot multiple times by a group of trappers and... my favorite part..., seriously f'ed up by Naru's brother.
C) One of the reason Naru survives instead of the dozens of others that go up against the predator is because she's smart not strong. The first time she could run up and attack it like like her Comanche warrior brethren. But she runs instead. The second time she could surprise it, but she hides instead. That brings me up to the second big complaint I'm reading about people who actually haven't seen this movie. Naru is a mary-sue that is perfect and better than the men in the movie. Is she? The first time we see her hunting deer... she fails. Then we see her hunting rabbit and she fails until she makes some improvements to her weapons. She tries to get the jump on a grizzly and her bow string snaps and she can only run for her life. She also just barely escapes a quick sand of mud.. quick mud? We all have seen The Star Wars Sequel trilogy... this is not how a mary-sue works.
And these people giving 0s and 1s: If you've seen the movie you don't give it at least SOME props for its unique setting? Or the amazing cinematography? Or the new music? Or at least Naru's brother who steals the show? Or this predator's new arsenal? Some people be trying real hard to hate everything in life.
Things I really liked: many of the people that went up against this predator did some serious damage to it, from the grizzly that drew first blood, to the second Comanche warrior that damaged it's cloaking device, to Naru's brother that damn near killed the thing. Even the french trappers got the jump on it, but when it took them a minute to reload their muskets after he blocked their first shots I had to laugh out loud. Got to love that historical accuracy. TLDR: I had a blast with this movie and it's definitely the best Predator movie since the original. Watch it and get your own opinion... avoid the hive mind.

It's simplistic in a good way and I think that elevated things more than hindered them. The plot is pretty straightforward - A young female trying to prove herself to her people ends up crossing paths with the Predator. There's not much in terms of a plot or a story really but what we do get is plenty of action, some decent gore, and a lead that is capable of making you care about seeing her come out on top.

The movie isn't without its faults though. The CGI can look downright amateurish at times and the pacing is inconsistent with the movie feeling a bit padded in the second half. That didn't stop me from enjoying it though. I think with a little more polish and tighter editing, It'd have been a better movie. However, I still think it is by far the best Predator sequel we have gotten thus far. I'm excited to see what comes next.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This movie was every bit as cliched and contrived as I thought it would be. It actually has the line "if it bleeds we can kill it." The entire end confrontation between the poorly written main character and the seemingly weak excuse for a Predator is just so much stupid it is cheesy. The Predator can kill a bear in hand to hand combat, it can kill armed Indian braves and armed French trappers but can't manage to kill a 100 lb. girl...this movie is the definition of CONTRIVED! frankly my favorite part of the movie was the dog Sarii. They just tried too hard to make Amber Midthunder's character a strong powerful woman and it comes off as forced especially when going up against an advanced alien hunter that is like three times her size. And don't forget the magical herb that can completely nullify your body heat without actually doing anything else. The Predator design was kind of hokey looking too, it looked more like cheap cosplay than any Predator design from the franchise yet. Expand

In the first 30 minutes the protagonist fails to hunt and kill a deer, a bunny, a lioness and a bear but of course by then end of movie has the ability to kill a predator. While the predator is by far the least skilled, ugliest design, dumbest and most visually impaired of its kind.

No wonder the ship dropped this predator off in the beginning it wasnt to test his hunting skills, he was being kicked out of his own tribe for being an embarrassment. Which would end up being the most logical thing in the movie.

Not much to say about this other than poor acting, costumes, locations, sound, terrible CGI and inconsistent story. The film can’t wait to tell you how amazing this girl is while everyone else is incapable despite being experts in that field.

Predator goes woke..
The dialog is bad and in english, why not in native american?

We got a Mary Sue character this time, and her dog.
These movies just get worse and worse.

I imagine Aliens and Terminator would also be labelled as such, if released today. Well, Prey ain’t woke, and the lead isn’t a Mary Sue type in the slightest. No, what we have here is a throughly entertaining film, with a believable and likeable lead character and some fantastic set pieces. The trailer may have been underwhelming. Thankfully the film is anything but, and the best Predator film since the 1st. Nice little nod to Predator 2 in there too Expand

It's not bad. Actors are ok. Setting is ok. But the main character is literally the most intelligent and perceptive teenager ever seen in a movie!

Visually pleasing, hardcore gore, unnecessary virtue signaling throughout the plot, victimhood porn-kills, not enough expansion on the broader lore. Worth at least seeing once and a decent addition to the franchise overall.

A movie where the Men are basically useless. And a tiny 100-pound girl is stronger and knows more than everyone. This narrative was worn out yrs ago, but they keep pushing this illogical narrative.

What a bozo. The movie is amazing and leaves you on the edge of your seat for the whole movie and for the most part, the movie is getting amazing reviews, don't listen to anyone in this section. The only people I've seen give this movie a bad review are haters who either A)haven't watched the movie B)called it woke just because the protagonist happens to be female C)hates change and wants it to be almost the exact movie as the original yet if the directors did that, those same people would hate on it for not being original and unique in its own sense. You just can't please some people but trust me when I say this is a great movie, better than the past 3 movies in the franchise. Usually I respect other people's opinions but every negative review I've seen in this section has been either completely biased or just sexist, instead of calling it "woke" when ya'll clearly don't know the definition of "woke", just admit you hate female main characters or maybe just DON'T watch the movie if you think it's "woke". It's not rocket science. Expand

Take some risks next time. The protagonist barely has an arc. Explore darker themes. Try to actually be scary.

So many great ideas, nice visual, like great new elements in the design for the Predator. Still, Predator 1-2 is better for me. Possibly I could go on long why but probably main reason for me is because in Predator 1-2 we had not just cool action scenes but also short but many little silly scenes with some smooth one-liners we still like to quote from P1-2.
I miss this absurd, silly, morbid scenes, & one-liners from all of the new, latest predator movies, so not only from PREY. Anyway, in overall PREY is a decent addition for the Predator Universe, really slick movie with some really great action scenes. 9/10 for me in a nutshell, I enjoyed & definitely will rewatch in the future.

Thankfully it was a normal underdog story and not a piece of anti man woke **** Sadly the predator himself was too weak and was beaten to easily. The New Design of him was cool, except his new face Design. The original face design was a grotesque masterpiece of horrormovie monster Design. The is often too random and has no clean Vision. Often things happen, because something has to happen. In the end I would sah you will be entertained once and will never watch again. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It's not a bad movie if you just switch your brain off, but I have to mark it down mainly due to the amount of disrespect shown to the predator, so the predator easily takes out skilled Indian warriors, a bunch of soldiers with rifles, (as you would expect) but then gets taken out one on one by a small woman who couldn't even kill a bear with an arrow earlier on.

She's strong enough to pull the predator off its feet using a rope around its head, strong enough to cut the predator's arm off by pushing the predator's arm which is holding his shield into his other arm which is stuck in a tree, she's tough enough to survive being lifted and choke slammed into the ground by the predator, even Arnie didn't stand a chance against the predator one on one, but this small woman makes light work of it! I thought I was watching another marvel superhero movie, but what else would you expect from W O K E Disney, they have to show us that even when it comes to fighting an 8-foot-tall technologically advanced alien woman can do it better.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The movie starts promising but falls short after the beginning. The story is weak and the whole plot is woke. The woman wants to prove that she is as good as all the male hunters, but is not able to attack the predator standing behind him while hes slaughtering one of her tribe buddies..

Also her brother dies because of her incompetence.the predator later dies because of lucky circumstances. She gets the promotion and the tribe is doomed cause she is not able to protect them. Weak movie

It does have a few of issues but it was not the usual heavy virtue signalling turd that the entertainment industry has been blasting out of their backsides for the last couple of years. If I am brutally honest with myself after watching the trailers I had already "pre-hated" this film and expected the story to be "strong independent native American woman, perfect at everything and only held back because of the men of her tribe, has to fight against adversity when she encounters an even bigger threat, white men. Also there is a predator in it". The trailers were so bad that I even expected Naru to team up with the predator to fight the evil colonialists. But this was not the case, Naru does go on a bit of heroes journey, she is a bit of crap hunter in the beginning, the dialogue is a bit clunky but it does not have to resort to belittling all men in order to show that Naru has strengths, her brother is clearly portrayed as a likeable character as well as a stronger hunter and fighter, sure most of the characters are forgettable fodder and are purely present just to be torn apart by the Predator and the white colonialists are written to be obviously unpleasant and unlikable but they are all French, so not too difficult to suspend your disbelief there.
It is no way a perfect film, some of the CGI is TV quality levels, but it was not the franchise killer that I expected it to be, whilst it does not really add anything new it does not crap all over any of the previous canon like Disney usually froths at the mouth with excitement to do, it has a couple of nods to the other films and is leagues better than the last Predator film that was released. Naru is certainly no Ripley, but at least she is also not another Captain Marvel either. Much better than I expected.

Cringy social justice warriors messages and clichés makes it even worse.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Much better than The Predator (2018) thankfully, but let down by the final act. I liked the cast, the setting and the story in itself, it was a very decent vehicle for a Predator film. Sadly, the Predator itself was the biggest issue. Losing the final battle is always to be expected, but the closing 30 minutes is an assassination of what the Predator is supposed to be. A supreme hunter making stupid decisions, losing badly in what is essentially hand to hand combat with two seperate humans before being killed in similarly silly fashion. It's not a bad movie in itself, it's just not a particularly good Predator one. Expand
