If you're a Horror fan, it's worth seeing. Second, there aren't enough movies depicting the thin, psychological line tread by medical folks between caring and detachment. The problem with this movie is the scenes supposed to bring the viewer to this conclusion are hamfisted. The most bungled being the easiest to pull off - two buildup scenes where the "hero", already teetering on that edge, is supposed to be disgusted by the inhumanity of humanity. This makes his later descent into over-the-top debauchery seem just exploitative. Could have been so much better, but I think it's worth recognizing their attempt. Expand

Ventimiglia portrays a young intern, newly arrived at the University Hospital in Philadelphia, who stumbles onto a psychopathic group of colleagues playing a vile game. They regularly select one of their members (on a rotational basis) to commit the "perfect murder," while the rest use forensic methods to try to determine exactly how the homicide was executed. Alyssa Milano (of TV's Who's the Boss? and Charmed) co-stars as Ventimiglia's fiancée, while thesps Johnny Whitworth and Lauren Lee Smith are among the perpetrators. Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor (of Crank fame) scripted. With its sensational mood, Pathology is one of the most enthralling and compelling films this year, so far. And with that spectacular "David Cronenberg" plot, Pathology scores high momentum in the movie score. From revisiting the frequent 2008 movies, there's not much of a selection, or if you want to go see Prom Night than be my guest. But Pathology was mind-twisting, stomach, gushing, and heart-pounding hothouse gripper. So far, it's bound to win for Best Picture. Highly recommended. Expand

This is certainly not for the squeamish. It is well made, good photography, nicely edited but it's an unpleasant film with shallow characters. A lot of style, but not much substance.

It should have been "forensics" or "forensic pathology". The main reason is that "Pathology" is the laboratory work at the hospital site whose main function is diagnostic procedures on tissues and body fluids of mainly from living patients i.e. "surgical pathology" or as in UK "histopathology"for organs and tissues and "cytopathology" for body fluids........The movie has only fouced on "forensci pathology" whish is an autopsy work......Besides this there is a great gap inthe movie omitting microscopic analysis of the organs and tissues. The movie gives the wrong impression of gross examination of autopsy findings is adequate for final diagnosis. This has been rejected by the 19th century pathologists saying that final pathologic diagnosis can not exist without a microscopic analysis (pionered by Professor Rudolph Virchow and colleagues of 19th century) as opposed to the medieval approach of the old centuries. The movie gives a false impression of medical pathology practice in this regard...... Expand
