Film gerçekten harikaydı. Filmi anlamak için Oppenheimer'ın hayatıyla ilgili bir ön araştırma yapmanızı öneririm. Zihinlerde iz bırakacak bir baş yapıt kesinlikle.

I expected a bit more from this movie. The beginning was a bit long, Cillian murphy is almost in every scene and he is ugly (because too thin), some scenes are edited too fast.
The twist into the bureaucratic fight against Straus was great

It's a good movie though, a great story and it's well told. It's a tapestry of stories really, from very macro developments (pre-2nd world war through mcarthyism) to interpersonal relationships of the many characters, to the internal turmoil en development within the main character, Robert Oppenheimer. Very creative use of sound, vision, color and abstract visions to convey complex inner feelings/thoughts of the titular character. The performances across the board of the many a-list actors is fantastic as well. The 3-hours running time never felt long to me. Amazing to think this all really happened. Expand

Really a phenomenal piece of filmmaking by writer and director Christopher Nolan, the story centered around the Father of the Atomic Bomb and leader of The Manhattan Project at Los Alamos, J. Robert Oppenheimer, played to perfection by actor Cillian Murphy. Worth noting, as well is the extraordinary performance by actor Robert Downey Jr. as Lewis Strauss. It wouldn't surprise me if both actors receive Oscar nominations for their character portrayals, they are that good! Also great in supporting roles, Emily Blunt (Kitty Oppenheimer), Matt Damon (General Leslie Groves), Jason Clarke (Roger Robb) and an appearance by Gary Oldman as President Truman. Returning as Nolan's DOP is Hoyte van Hoytema (Interstellar, Dunkirk, Tenet) whose cinematography in Oppenheimer is breathtaking. Love the new black and white photography created especially for the film, it is sharp, clean and crisp. Just like in Nolan's 2000 film, Memento, the black and white is juxtaposed with color, perfectly utilized for past and present scenes and as a way to interpret the lead character's moral struggles and ambiguity. I had no problem with the 3 hour runtime, dialogue was intelligent and the film moves at a good pace thanks to streamlined editing by Jennifer Lame (Tenet) and a strong, haunting score by Ludwig Göransson (Tenet). Oppenheimer is quite the triumph for Chris Nolan. Expand

Maybe not my favourite, and I don’t think it’ll ever be. And my favourite film of the year is Blackberry. But I believe critically that, this is his magnum opus. Cillian deserves the Oscar so far. And Nolan deserves most of the other Oscars so far. This is a special film, for all of its playful, perfect brilliance of direction, writing, cinematography, editing, sound, performance… No pun intended, but it blew me away. I think this is one for the ages, and the benchmark for both Nolan and films in 2023. Expand

Let's talk about the flaws right away, i did feel the length of the film in all three act especially in the first and second act mostly the build up to the Trinity climax, i thought they added a bit too much, they're definitely missing some one and two key figure and scene that i felt was important to be included in the movie, i actually fine with how they dealt with the Hiroshima and Nagasaki scene, and that's about it really, Oppenheimer was definitely a movie that you have to watch in IMAX, the sound, the color, the resolution, and of course the size of the screen, it is a very fascinating story directed by one of our beloved and best movie director's right now, played so incredibly well by Cillian Murphy, calling Oscar's best actor nomination already, a 3 hours epic biopic that is unique and i've never seen before, i was engaged by the story the whole time, and while i can see lot's of people will mixed about it, well i recommend you to at least read the story before just so you know a little bit of background, then you can at least appreciate it, what Nolan does with Oppenheimer is his way of narrating the film was just terrific, again added with terrific performance by all the cast, the beautiful practical effects and the way they edited it was incredible, overall Oppenheimer was indeed a terrific movie, despite the flaws of a missing key figure and scene and phasing, i was still entertained, i was still engaged, i was still blown away, and i was still amazed by the movie.

Being based on the book "American Prometheus," we get the story of J. Robert Oppenheimer who was brought on by Lewis Strauss to helm the Manhattan Project that led to the creation of the atomic bomb but Nolan's focus was on the mam himself and not the bomb which proves to be brilliant as we get a deep and haunting character study of the aftermath and see how this action led to not only thousands of deaths in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, but the guilt and weight that the "man who moved the earth" was forced to live with. Cillian Murphy as Oppenheimer proves to be the best casting choice made for this biopic as his eyes in close-ups tell you everything you need to know about what he's thinking, but in addition this brilliant actor conveys so much conviction and deep regret for all of his skeletons that you're left with a broken man who started off doing something monumental with ambitious intentions but slowly realizes what he's just actually done to the rest of the world, but Robert Downey Jr. as Strauss has my lock already for Best Supporting Actor with what could be his best career work as a man who proves to be more than an antagonist in this film.

Nolan's love for practical effects sees him deliver a truly monumental achievement as there's not one single shot of CGI in this film, which is combined with some gorgeous cinematography from Hoyte Van Hoytema but Ludwig Gorranson's music for this film might be his best ever as it cues and swells all throughout the 3-hour runtime and makes this film feel like a thriller and horror movie because of how intense it can get depending on the scene and characters it's focused on ay the moment. Emily Blunt might also get a Beat Supporting Actress nomination as her work as Oppenheimer's wife Kitty sees her as a woman who endures just as much of the pain her husband does as she tries her best to support him even when the walls are closing in and her scene in the final act of this film during an interrogation is just spectacular, and the number of actors in this film is just beyond ridiculous ranging from Matt Damon, Florence Pugh, Jack Quaid, Josh Hartnett, Rami Malek, Alden Ehrenreich, Matthew Modine, Jason Clarke, Josh Peck, and many many more. With this being a 3-hour runtime, the film feels as if it's missing 30 minutes somewhere as it flows better than most films of this length as the dialogue and characters keep you hooked within the story especially as the story is weaving between the color scenes which are completely subjective to Oppenheimer while the black and white are objective to everyone else, but the strength is how much this film paints the man as a deeply complex character with his past demons exposed but also someone who understood the repercussions and fallout from the contributions to something revolutionary and I honestly can't wait to revisit this again. Nolan proves yet again why he's one of the most important filmmakers working today as he made a mature and profound dramatic biopic about one of the most important men in American and world history.

The only fault I give Nolan is not actually showing the victims' photos from Hiroshima & Nagasaki.

Nobody would stand for war if included, now we live with the fact that NATO has provoked far too many times and madmen from the west think deterrence is a wives tale.

However, up until this point, the majority of his works have revolved around science fiction, and even with a film like Dunkirk in his repertoire, Oppenheimer is the film that feels like his graduation.

While this film might not be the magnum opus I had in mind, I reiterate that I judge based on results rather than expectations. Despite encountering a few execution and tonal hiccups, it remains a great piece of work and showcases Nolan's most mature and sober effort in his entire career.
And incidentally it's supported by an exceptional performance from Cillian Murphy who I believe has delivered the definitive role of his profession.

The cast is huge, but the big names are Murphy and Robert Downey Jr. who succeeds in completely shedding the Tony Stark persona. And it's not that I doubted he could pull it off, but there are a lot of people who only know him for that role.

I'll admit, the three-hour length doesn't really impact the film's overall performance, but it does affect how time is handled. Throughout the movie, we see jumps to various time periods, yet everything centers on the testing of the first nuclear bomb, which happens in the second hour. It's at this point that Oppenheimer takes a different turn, delving into the aftermath of the act and the devastating attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, so the issues becomes about politics and moral repercussions.

It definitely doesn't change the effect of what the story is trying to tell but I could notice that the audience's reaction changed in that hour because everything after that moment is pure dialogue. As I said we are talking about something serious, but I can understand how some will be conflicted when their idea of entertainment is shaken by the fact that in that particular hour they are no longer building suspense but dealing with the consequences of what a legacy implies. And what a legacy we're talking about.

Oppenheimer delivers the goods and that's the most important thing about it.
It's a great movie that has to be seen in the big screen because it is made for them.

And his inner workings as well. We get an eerily grim look at what it means to be The Father of the Atom Bomb. When it comes to the character of Oppenheimer nothing escapes this movie. Everything from the moral complexities to the politics is investigated to the last detail.

Which is also the slight problem this movie has. There is a lot of "time travel" in this movie. And oftentimes scenes are cut in a way that makes it feel like the characters are having conversations with each other through the fabric of time.

It speaks well into the idea of quantum mechanics. So in that respect it's spot-on for the theme of the movie. But it is also slightly confusing to follow along with it.

And ultimately that leaves about 1 third of the movie in a bit of a weird half-confusing / dull limbo. At least to me.

I'd have liked it to focus more on the mechanics of developing the bomb itself. It didn't exactly glance over it as much as it neglected to focus on it. The parts are there but it rarely goes beyond merely mentioning their breakthroughs in conversation until we get to the initial big boom.

And that's probably a fault of my own expecting these things to be elaborated upon. The movie is called Oppenheimer and not The Manhattan Project after all.

So a heads up if you, like me, expect it to focus on The Manhattan Project. It does, but it's only a relatively short part of the movie and it is deliberately focused on Oppenheimer's character more so than the bomb itself during these parts.

As the movie went on it became better and better. Its a Nolan film and with that means that nothing in this movie is going to be simple and the immediate launch into the different timelines of Oppenheimers life I imagine was a lot for much of the audience. However once we reached the middle it all became so clear. As the movie goes on I just felt everything clicking into place and the more I watched the more entertained I was. It's a great film and if anyone is on the fence about seeing it or maybe walked out early on because they did not fully grasp everything happening. I beg you to watch it in its entirety and you will not regret it. Expand

Are you trying to hurt this movie just because it wasn't perfect??? The gap between 0 and 6 is huge, do you really want to diminish the score that much ?? So much more than it actually deserves??? And dont pretend like you didnt know this was a biopic. It wasnt a "tiresome" or "uninteresting" movie, just grounded in reality as it is a biopic. It's the genre of the movie! You should have known that when you came in the theatre. Anyway, Nolan's style is still present. And the acting is marvelous, Murphy was very much in character. And yes, biopics contain the characters personal life. So, for anyone that reads this, if the audience score is anything below 9.5, DON'T TRUST IT!!!! Too many trolls on metacritic. Expand

In a 3 hour spectacular movie that demandsNolan’s back again only this time with a biography about “the father of the atomic bomb,” J. Robert Oppenheimer. Prepare yourself for a Summer blockbuster unlike anything you’ve ever seen before. In a 3 hour spectacular movie that demands your full attention. Spanning from Oppenheimer’s early life, his time leading the Manhattan project & the creation of the devastating bomb that the Americans used to end the war. See it on the big screen like you’ll never believe. And if you have the opportunity to see it in 35/70mm or IMAX then take it.

It really is an amazing achievement to create a movie that is essentially people talking in different rooms for 3 hours & have it being one of the year’s greatest movies. Directed by a true master filmmaker, Christopher Nolan has further cemented himself as one of the best and he’s the best for a reason. The trailer gave us only a taste of what’s in store. Although knowing the outcome, the sheer level of tension packed into this film is enthralling. It perfectly captures the overly ambitious men in their mission to create something that no one should ever have – “now I am become death, the destroyer of worlds.” Oppenheimer is an expertly crafted story that is horrifying, chilling & will leave you in awe.

You are watching a Christopher Nolan film which means don’t expect time to be linear, it’s told across various different time periods from Oppenheimer’s studies at Cambridge, the beginning of the Manhattan project, the trinity test in 1945 and the subsequent controversies in Oppenheimer’s later life. It can be a little confusing as one would expect from a Nolan movie but it uses a mix of colour and black and white shots to illustrate different character point of views.

It certainly deserves all the awards coming to it & there are so many Oscar worthy performances with the stand out one being Cillian Murphy. After years of working together, Murphy has finally been given the chance at a lead in a Nolan movie & he really shows us what a stunning actor he really is. His performance is haunting, he’s in almost every scene & was the perfect choice to play a guilt ridden Oppenheimer. Although much of the weight is carried by Cillian Murphy, Nolan has always understood the importance of a strong supporting cast. They consist of Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon, Florence Pugh, Josh Hartnett, Jason Clarke, Alden Ehrenreich, Kenneth Branagh, Benny Safdie & Tom Conti. That’s not even all of them, the list is very impressive and each & every one of them brought their best to Oppenheimer. When Nolan calls, you say yes because it doesn’t matter if you’re only in one scene, you’re in a damn Christopher Nolan movie.

With amazing practical effects, it’s a movie clearly made for the big screen. That’s right you read that correctly it’s practical effects, no CGI. Nolan has always prioritised real sets, real effects & no he didn’t set off a real atomic bomb but the entire trinity test sequence is mesmerizing to witness & you really do want to see it on the biggest screen possible. Everything from the sound & editing will scar scenes into your mind forever. The crowd sequence afterwards is one of the most haunting things I’ve ever seen on film & the way in which Cillian Murphy conveys the horror of what he’s created is a masterclass in acting. With so many layers, the beauty of Nolan’s movies is you get something new with every rewatch. It’s powerful and does not shy away from the dark side of humanity in the creation of a devastating weapon of war. A cinematic masterpiece. Sound & music are always used very effectively in Nolan’s movies & Ludwig Göransson delivers yet another stunning score that perfectly captures the emotions surrounding a dark moment in human history. So much emotion expressed through the violin, it’s a sensational movie score.

Honestly I’ll be thinking about this film for weeks afterwards. For anyone who’s been left emotionally traumatised after the experience then fear not because as luck would have it, the perfect film is available to de-stress after Oppenheimer. The polar opposite to a historical biopic, Barbie is also out, in what looks like cinema’s most successful weekend in years. Audiences are jaded from the endless parade of remakes and sequels to already well established franchises but more of these original stories made by proper filmmakers will be the saviour to struggling cinemas. And the question was never which one do you want to see, it’s which one do you want to see first. It’s terrific to see so many people enjoying themselves in the cinema for these movies & whichever you went to see first this weekend I hope you enjoyed it.

Am I recommending Oppenheimer? Of course I am, Christopher Nolan is one of my favourite directors but whether you’re a fan or not, if you love film then Oppenheimer is a must see. It’s a jaw dropping film that will leave you speechless.

Robert Oppenheimer, the brilliant physicist who led the Manhattan Project, which developed the atomic bomb. Although this film details that effort, there's a wider story about politicians' efforts to undermine his achievements with accusations of his Communist leanings. Murphy grounds the story with an intense characterization and he's surrounded by an impressive cast of strong performances. But this is really director Christopher Nolan's show. His manipulation of media to create powerful moments is undeniable and there are several memorable sequences like that here. While the complex story is always compelling, it could have been a shorter than 3 hours and Nolan's investigation leans more on the cerebral than the emotional. As a result, this landmark story is told with powerful facts and skilled filmmaking. Expand

Thankfully, while the message and thematics are dire, the experience itself is still nonetheless absorbing and even exhilarating at times. The Trinity test sequence itself is worth the price of admission alone. For me, though, I think the most impressive feat to marvel at in this is that of Cillian Murphy's lead turn as the titular physicist in question. Without a doubt, this is a career-defining performance for him and I absolutely think it should be in consideration for the highest of honors, come awards season. Massive kudos to Nolan, as always, for making films that beg to be seen on the largest of screens. This is, most definitely, another one of those -- one I'm excited to watch again. Expand

I always look forward to going to the cinema and once again he didn't disappoint. After Tenet, which I thought was really hard to understand, this was a treat. Well made with good moments and made even better by the fact that it is history. I was sucked in right from the start as the various cuts that followed were nice and overall it grabbed me right from the start. I enjoyed every moment and waited until the explosion of course. That's what interested me the most. Again, I wasn't disappointed, but what mainly improved it was the audio. I was expecting a nice spectacle. I got that. I had pretty high expectations there, so it didn't wow me that much, but it appealed to me very positively with Ludwig Göransson's music, which always drew me into the story. At one point, he had me pretty well riveted with his music as well. I was a little worried about how it would turn out without Hans Zimmer, but it turned out that it wasn't only Tenet who had such a great soundtrack, at least in my opinion. I liked the music. Expand

A Beautiful Mess.

I feel like Christopher Nolan Stans will like this, but overall this seems to be a fine wine in a Red Flip Cup. The editing and pacing tends to skew from fast and engaging to slow and confusing. Nolan has been the master of show, don't tell and with this comes the central focus of Cillian Murphy as the real life Physicist, J Robert Oppenheimer.

From the opening shots you are drawn into a world according to Oppenheimer and his interactions with various people throughout his life of Theory to bringing in one of the most devastating weapons human's have ever created. This movie felt about 30-40 minutes too long, but I can understand why the director decided to keep a couple of the beats in there after the bomb and the consequences beyond blowing people up vs Oppenheimer's reputation. Like most Oscar Bait Films, you're kinda stuck with a one and done kinda watch.

My first ever Christopher Nolan movie in cinema and surely it didn't disappoint. It had a bit of everything from romance, suspense, drama and even what they say it was truly horrifying. Surely set to become one of the iconics.
When we talk about cinematography we have to talk about Nolan and so this movie had it all, some exceptional shots and most of them including Cillian Murphy. The two colour tones provide an immersive experience like never before sort of taking you back in time and experiencing it all yourself. Nolan has done such a good job that I'm literally lost for words, can't explain what I've just seen, it's more than just a movie.
You can really tell it's my first movie review. Well then comes Cillian Murphy's brilliant performance as it was truly expected. Has to win an Oscar I'm sure, this performance was truly backed up by what RDJ did. THAT was pure acting, which I'm more sure than Cillian that he'll win an Oscar. Even the side roles including Rami Malek, Emily Blunt, Matt Damon and Tom Conti showed that they're A tier actors taking this film to a whole new level. And then talk about Ludwig Goransson, he has just done an excellent job, even though he had a whole lot of pressure on his shoulders taking Zimmer's role in hand and he didn't let us down. Every scene had its own moment delving you into it's beauty. Well for me the peak was the music from THAT trinity test scene. That scene would take a whole lot of speaking but boy was that good. How do I even put this that this movie was simply outstanding. 9.5/10 from me.

COM-PELL-ING

Nolan shows, once again, that he is one of the greatest story tellers and film makers of our time. The screenplay brings everything together and it makes a great job of making something that is stereotypically difficult to understand, such as a little thing as theoretical and nuclear phyics, as something that a general audience member could consume by explaining things via marbles and whatnot. On the contrary and simultaneously, Nolan masters the art of plot movement with high stakes scene choreography from different moments in time. Having this and Barbie in theatres at the same time reminds why cinema truly matters and that all good story telling needs is just good story telling, no matter the genre or medium. This movie was the **** bomb (pun intended accidentally on purpose)

I see a few morons are already on here downvoting all the positive reviews which this movie, like all Nolan movies, easily earn. Can never go wrong with a Christopher Nolan movie. His cinematography is unmatched. Time to go downvote allI see a few morons are already on here downvoting all the positive reviews which this movie, like all Nolan movies, easily earn. Can never go wrong with a Christopher Nolan movie. His cinematography is unmatched. Time to go downvote all the Barbie 10's, because that movie is no where near as praised as Oppenheimer, and Barbie won't be winning any awards, whereas Nolan will easily be taking home some more Oscars to add to his collection!

Only reason why Barbie will make more money is because it isn't rated R, and I've already seen tons of kids and their parents dressed in pink, supporting the brand. Now for the real men and women in the world - Oppenheimer is for you and it is rated R, which of course always makes less money than a PG or PG 13 film.

Man, I love being right all the time! Sorry Barbie fans, but your movie isn't winning any awards at the next Academy Awards show, but you'll get to see Oppenheimer win several ;) because that's a real movie. I'll wait to see Barbie when it's free on torrent, for sure, just because I do like some of the actors in it. But this real man can't wait for more IMAX and Nolan!!

The hardest and better movie of Nolan. A travel of horror in the mind of the father of the Atomic Bomb.

Bold and beyond like no other biopics!!

Masterfully editing, stunning no-CGI cinematography, impressively great acting, fire-up screenplay, and boldest directing Nolan ever did in his career!!

This is Christopher Nolan's Best film yet. Cillian Murphy does a great job but sometimes Robert Downey Jr. Steals the show.

I absolutely loved this film. A little nod for those in the know but the guy playing the drums at Los Alamos had to be Richard Feynman right? He's not mentioned but we know :-)
