phenomenal filmmaking ;drama thriller at its best very best ; editing and cinematography and all technical aspects of the movie is in greatest standards, character arc and screenplay is fascinating ,brilliance written all over it !

acting master class; that's one word to describe the movie , it will take a lot of space to describe everyone, so am mentioning the ones impressed me most; matt damon is perfect and emily blunt is pretty good and best of Josh Hartnett to me ,Alden Ehrenreich is impressive and Florence Pugh is simply sensational !

and Robert Downey Jr ; excellency of acting ,one of his best work till date ! and the man who relived as OPPENHEIMER ; Cillian Murphy is mind-blowing !!!

Now lets talk about the MAIN GUY

IF A name of a director and his style of making outshine everyone and everything about the movie then his name must be Christopher Nolan !! If you love his cinemas ,you will adore this ! like he said "don't try to understand it, just feel it "

yeah just feel the Unparalleled Cinema Experience !!

Christopher Nolan has once again delivered an awe-inspiring cinematic experience that leaves the audience spellbound from start to finish.

Casting Cillian Murphy as Robert Oppenheimer was a stroke of genius. His portrayal of the conflicted scientist was both nuanced and emotionally charged. He brilliantly captured Oppenheimer's intellect, determination, and moral dilemmas, making the character come alive on the screen. Murphy delivers an Oscar-worthy performance. Also, Robert Downey Jr as Lewis Strauss did an excellent performance. This is by far Downey's best performance, and he also deserves an Oscar nomination. The supporting cast is equally praiseworthy, with outstanding performances from Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, and Florence Pugh.

From the first frame, the film immerses its audience in a spellbinding narrative that perfectly balances historical accuracy and captivating storytelling. The attention to detail in depicting the era is unparalleled, transporting viewers back to the 1940s and the intensity of the Manhattan Project. The meticulous recreation of the Los Alamos laboratory and the wartime atmosphere adds an authentic touch, making the viewers feel like eyewitnesses to a defining moment in history.

The cinematography deserves special commendation, as it brilliantly captures both the beauty of the New Mexico landscape and the intensity of the laboratory's scientific endeavor. The haunting musical score adds an extra layer of depth, heightening the emotional impact of critical moments throughout the movie.

"Oppenheimer" stands as a testament to the power of cinema to educate, entertain, and provoke introspection. It expertly delves into the complex interplay of science, politics, and human morality, reminding the profound implications that scientific discoveries can have on the world.

Christopher Nolan has once again proven why he is one of the greatest directors of our time. Brilliantly written, impeccably directed, and expertly performed, the film leaves an indelible impression that will stay with viewers long after leaving the theater.

Not a Nolan sycophant, but I have to be honest, this movie is damn good

"Oppenheimer" is an interesting cinematic work that brings an extraordinary experience to the audience. The musical score, composed by Ludwig Göransson, gives the story a deep emotional dimension. The beautiful cinematography presents a stunning visual picture, making this movie very enjoyable to watch.

However, even though this film offers a stunning cinematic experience, its duration of up to 3 hours can be a challenge for some viewers. Even so, "Oppenheimer" is still able to maintain its appeal and present an interesting story with elegance.

Overall, "Oppenheimer" is a cinematic work that deserves appreciation. Ludwig Goransson's musical score and gorgeous cinematography are the film's strong points, but it's worth admitting that its lengthy run can be a bit overwhelming.

Question what you're s-/told even when emotions run high. What a beautiful and multi-layered story on greed, power, complexity of ethics, exploitation, and - deep down - human ambition and destruction. Another cinematic masterpiece by Christopher Nolan.
Oppenheimer might be the best film I watched in a long, long time.

Very different than Nolan's recent films, especially the Sci-Fi ones, but shows that Nolan can master the Biopic/Drama genre just as well as he can any other genre he tried to tackle yet.

The film is 3-hours long but goes through very quickly and enjoyably. Without spoiling anything, the film presents important and very relevant subjects, and doing so while being non-stop entertainment and a comprehensive character study and a study of our society on a very high pace.

Without mentioning anything specific, there was one scene that caused almost every single person in the theatre to move nervously in the seats, non-stop for a long period of time, being one of the most intense scenes I ever watched in a movie and reminding me of the true power of the cinematic experience like no other movie did in recent years.

The year is only half-way through but right now this is my top pick for the upcoming awards season. Picture, Writing, Directing, Acting, Score-- Oppenheimer is a winner on all fronts. A rare feat for filmmaking and a salient reminder that cinema is not dead.

I highly recommend this film to everyone. Watched it once already, and going back to the theatre for at least a few more times soon.

Directed with great flare by Christopher Nolan, J. Robert Oppenheimer (played to brilliant perfection by Nolan regular Cillian Murphy) and his life and legacy are chronicled here down to the finest details, from his early years spent learning and teaching quantum physics to the inception of his Manhattan Project during WWII to his eventual fallout with the U.S. government following his dropping of the atomic bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki due to the immense moral pressure and guilt he faced in the hundreds of thousands of lives he felt responsible in destroying, along with his haunted past and suspected communist ties. Where do I even begin with this colossal achievement of a film!? For starters, since this is Nolan we're talking about here, this is no traditional by the numbers by biopic by any means! No, this is moreso an intimate and very internal and personal look inside the mind of one of the most brilliant yet tortured minds in our world's history. This film DOES NOT shy away from showing us exactly what's going on inside Oppenheimer's mind from start to finish, and there's A LOT of inner turmoil and tension, as shown by the constant images of friction, explosions, and mathematics that race through his mind. Another creative technical choice made on Nolan's part that reminded me quite a bit of one of his earliest efforts 'Memento', is the constant shift between color and black and white sequences (the color scenes being objective and from Oppenheimer's perspective, and the black and white scenes being subjective and based within historical fact.) I will say however that a common complaint about Nolan's recent films that I for once agreed with this time is that it was far too loud and difficult to understand the dialogue in certain scenes, which is a bit disappointing, because this film races a mile a minute with its dialogue-heavy structure for practically its entire three-hour runtime, making it almost fly right on by for me! As for the performances, if Murphy isn't given his first overdue Oscar nomination for this film come next year, I'm gonna throw hands, because he was ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL! He's always been talented and criminally underrated, but my God, if this performance of his doesn't get the Academy's attention, nothing will! As for the massive supporting cast, it's so difficult to single out so many people that I want to single out, but for starters, Robert Downey Jr. as the opposing Atomic Energy Commission chairman Lewis Strauss stood out so incredibly well here with his commanding screen presence. I'd say he's pretty overdue for another Oscar nomination as well, and this film would be the perfect one to give it to him for! Other notable players here include Emily Blunt as wife Kitty Oppenheimer and Florence Pugh as Oppenheimer's mistress Jean Tatlock (both of whom were criminally underutilized for this film), Matt Damon as General Leslie Groves, Josh Hartnett, Casey Affleck, Rami Malek, Kenneth Branagh, hell even Josh Peck! The list goes on and on! Overall, while there are some sound issues in a handful of scenes, the film moves at an almost breakneck pace in spite of its dialogue-heavy delivery, though I wasn't quite as blown away with it as I'd hoped I'd be. However, I was certainly floored in virtually every other way by this film, from the camerawork to the score to the mile a minute dialogue! While it's still not Nolan's best film in my eyes (I don't think he'll ever top 'Interstellar' or 'The Dark Knight' personally), it isn't at all a stretch to call it for what it truly is: his magnum opus. Advertised to be a more mature evolution of Christopher Nolan movie but it suffers from the same problems as his other films. Outside of the genuinely astounding visuals and sound design, it plays out like a trailer of the movie itself. It's like he's trying to shove an entire series into a movie and I'd have been happy if half of it was cut out. It's kind of like a genius billionaire teenager made the movie. Another fun thing to do in the parts where you start losing concentration because you're only human: Imagine your face is the camera and notice just how many times you have to look around, or move in time, or change to black and white or witness a very odd sexual metaphor out of nowhere. It's a good movie, it's a LOT of movie, Cillian Murphy is great (other than him and Matt Damon, no one really get's a chance) but I can't imagine it being remembered as a great and I think these great reviews will subside eventually because it's a 3 hour music video.

If Steven Spielberg was hired as Nolan's directing coach then I think amazing things would happen.

He makes some of the most entertaining movies in modern cinema. Even at his worst, such as with his last film Tenet, it is still way more entertaining than a majority of movies released. After the Warner Bros same-day streaming debacle they pulled; Nolan left for Universal and this is his first film with them. Does Nolan continue to deliver or has he dropped a big bomb?

Cillian Murphy has been a long-time collaborator with Nolan but this is the first time he is the main lead. He is PHENOMENAL as the titular character. He gives such nuance to his performance through body language and facial expressions alone to convey the emotion of his character. It is such a breath of fresh air from the normal yelling Oscar performances you see. He is genuinely perfect at Oppenheimer and if he doesn't get a nomination for his performance then I will be fuming! One surprising aspect of watching this film was how stacked the cast truly was. There are so many well-known actors in here that I didn't even know was even in the movie. Every supporting actor is terrific in their roles, even if it was a very minor role. The biggest standout amongst the supporting actors has got to be Robert Downey Jr as Lewis Strauss. He gives a spectacular, compelling and even frighteningly realistic performance that makes his character stand out from the crowd. It is great to see him in a non-Marvel role and knock it out of the park. If he doesn't get a nomination for the best supporting actor then I will be also fuming!

This movie is 3 hours long but you won't even feel the length because of the amazing pacing. Despite being a drama, it never drags or bores you. It moves from scene to scene very quickly in a non-chronological order but you're never lost either. There are lot of scientific jargon which is to be expected as this is about the making of the nuclear bomb. However, the excellent screenplay makes these relatively understandable so that non-scientist can easily comprehend what's going on. There is some great political tension in the 3rd act as well which was handled masterfully. In terms of story, it is juggling a lot with Oppenheimer's early life, the making of the bomb and the aftermath. Despite this, Nolan does an amazing job of exploring the character of Oppenheimer which shows all aspects of him, including his flaws. The constant build-up and tension to the bomb is incredibly engaging!

Ludwig Goransson, the composer of Tenet, returns for this film. His music score is wonderfully haunting with his use of violins. His music score illustrates the horror of the actions of these scientists. Hoyte van Hoytema also returns as the cinematographer. His cinematography is visually stunning and this is thanks to the practical sets, natural lighting and real locations used. On that note, the use of practical effects and no CGI is just so awesome to see. Nolan thankfully didn't use a real nuke but he still replicates it practically and it certainly shows! The realistic explosion meant it didn't take us out of the movie as you don't question the look of the explosion as it is real. When the explosion occurs, it is weirdly captivating and frightening to look at just like it was for the characters. The sound design is also a highlight as the sound of the explosion is impactful and even terrifying. The sound itself is the jump scare and it works. The only nitpick I have with this film, which is a common problem in Nolan movies is sometimes I just can't hear what the characters are saying because of the weird sound mixing. It isn't as bad here as it was in Tenet but it is still a problem.

Overall, what an amazing movie from Nolan! This is a monumental and engrossing achievement from him. Nolan is one of the few directors whose name alone is enough of a reason to watch and Oppenheimer does not change that. He successfully made a 3-hour biopic drama, the most entertaining film of 2023. Oppenheimer isn't one of those Oscar-bait movies that were made to just win an Oscar. It was made to be enjoyable for everyone and that is why this film should win best picture. This is a must-watch for everyone as it is the best movie of 2023 so far!

I felt tense/on edge throughout the whole movie, which is a big accomplishment for a movie like this. The soundtrack, sound effects, and editing all play a big part in helping build tension throughout the movie. The Trinity test was well done, but the best scene of the movie was Oppenheimer's speech in the gymnasium, as well as the interrogation scene.

Overall the movie does a good job of examining what Oppenheimer was dealing with, both morally and politically. Murphy is great as Oppenheimer, but Downey Jr. steals the show in the last third of the movie as Lewis Strauss. It is an incredibly serious and dark movie, and does a good job of bringing you into considering the ramifications of the nuclear arms race and nuclear holocaust. There are minor issues with the sound mixing where the soundtrack was blasting over the dialogue, but this seemed to only be in the beginning of the movie. People who are interested in politics, geopolitics, and/or history will probably enjoy this movie more than others, but you need to pay close attention to the fast-paced dialogue from the very beginning or you can get temporarily lost.

For the story, the historical recreation, the photograpy, and the political story. WHY AVOID IT? The characters are completely unlikeable people, (so well-acted?) with some minor exceptions that are not really developed, it's soundtrack is mostly wierd and too loud, and the bomb explosion was a dud. SOME OBSERVATIONS: Three hours went by fast, so don't worry about it bogging down. However the soundtrack was distracting at many points during the film, like they were trying to keep it dramatic, and it was mostly way too loud, at least at our IMAX. The historical re-creation of the story was well done, and the photography was beautiful, but the cast of actors from other Chris Noman films looked older (and made me feel older, which is true!) and this reminded me of the old, 70's T.V. shows, like the Love Boat, that would feature a bevy of olden-days actors, (presumably because they need work to pay their property taxes!) When your thinking, "Hey, isn't that so-and-so from the Dark Knight," it is distracting. Yes, the characters depicted were very smart, but not likeable people, even in a nerdy way. None of the characters were likeable! Commies were everywhere in their circles, and for that time period, you'd think there would be more overt patriotism and a few nods to cultural religiosity, but there was practically none at all, which stood out to me as unrealistic. You wanted somebody to be a hero in this film, but no one was. I left the theatre feeling that I lost some hearing, that the ending wasn't satisfying, that it was a grifty up-sell shooting it in IMAX, and that "Fat Man and Little Boy" with John Cusak was a way better film. The message conveyed is not only conveyed masterfully, but might actually be the best movie I've ever seen. One of the most essential parts of the movie is how it takes a deep dive into Oppenheimer's own thoughts, the choices he had to make, and especially explores his fears. The behaviors he exhibited and the choices he had to make really make you question if he did the best he could and ultimately if he made the right, moral choices.

The film does an excellent job of showing both Oppenheimer's personal life and his work on the Manhattan Project. The different people involved in the project and their contributions were also represented well. The movie beautifully shows the development of the Manhattan Project and the climatic Trinity Test.

Something that really gripped me during my viewing was the silence exhibited after the flash of the nuclear bomb went off. Never have I sensed such a quiet crowd in a movie theater. The way Nolan captured us all in this moment is something to marvel at.

In terms of actual performance, Cillian Murphy, the lead actor, does an amazing job as Oppenheimer, showing all the different emotions of the character and exhibiting perfect emotional delivery of his character. The other actors also do a great job, adding more depth to the story.

Throughout my viewing, I could not ignore the reminder of the danger of nuclear weapons present throughout the movie. It reminded me how dangerous nuclear war could be, and most hauntingly, that it is not an event in the past, but rather something still dictating our world today.

For me, "Oppenheimer" is much more separate as a piece of cinema compared to other films as it feels like it really communicates a message vital to how we live our lives today. While other movies deal with real themes too, the way "Oppenheimer" addresses nuclear war all throughout the movie compels me and communicates to me in a way like no other. For these reasons, I legitimately believe this is Christopher Nolan's best work thus far, and is the best movie I've ever seen, and some may argue it may even be the best movie of the 21st Century thus far.

A biopic just can't get any better. RDJ has the best character arc, Emily is an absolute fire-cracker. Matt Damon is good, but I am pretty sure he can be so much better. Rami Malek stole the climatic scene. There are no words in any language to describe what Chris Nolan, Hoyte van Hoytema and Ludwig did for this movie. The whole movie as beautifully chaotic as it is outright haunting.

My only regret is I watched Barbie right after Oppenheimer. All the feelings i came out with after watching Oppenheimer were replaced with pure anger while watching Barbie. Barbie is a pathetic movie trying to cash in on the moronic 'woke' movement, pushing women to hate on men.

Please do not do the mistake of watching Barbie or any movie for that matter after Oppenheimer. Let the movie stay with you for a while. Depending on how good is Killers of the flower moon, Cillian and RDJ are lock for Oscars.

Cut to within an inch of its life and scrambled out of sequence. It frustrated me by the end but it’s also the movie that convinced me that Nolan is capable of mastery and not just spectacle. The cinematography, script, acting, music: all stunning.

I’ve loved Nolan’s films with huge reservations for years. His major vice, in my opinion, is that he’s deeply insecure about his stories being interesting or intelligent enough on their own merits. So he chops them up into confusing chronologies and buries the dialogue behind a wall of sound design and music so that you’re figuratively leaning forward in your seat just trying to comprehend the most basic elements of the story and script. It feels like you’re interested but really you’re just confused. It’s kind of a sleight of hand on the part of the director.

After being irked by these tendencies in Inception and Interstellar and fully annoyed by them in Dunkirk, Tenet was the culmination of all of Nolan’s worst tendencies and I basically gave up on taking him seriously after that.

I’m happy to say that Oppenheimer rights many of these wrongs. There is no punishing Wagnerian score from Hanz Zimmer. Instead it’s thoughtfully and often minimally scored with whole chunks of blessed quiet. Finally! I understood 90 percent of the dialogue in this movie, even though it was often happening too fast to process. Unfortunately it’s yet another Nolan film told in a spaghetti of chronology. This was so unnecessary. This story, played by this cast, with that dialogue would have been riveting in basic chronological order. It’s also just way too long. As good as RDJ is in the part, his storyline hijacks the film and turns it into some showdown between an embittered man and a scientist, instead of what the film starts out as: a meditation on a complicated genius whose paradoxes may be hypocrisies. Had the film been shorter and with more space in it, you could have had more time to luxuriate in the ambiguity. I’m glad I saw it on a big screen. It was really beautiful. I loved all the abstract micro photography they cut in. Since Nolan has asked us to consider Oppenheimer’s hypocrisies and short sightedness (“How can someone who sees so much be so blind?”), I’m going to call him out on a bit of what I see as b.s. Nolan has come out as the patron saint for seeing films in theaters on the big, silver screen. This is now part of his brand. My hot take is that Nolan makes films that can’t be experienced or even understood properly in a single viewing. He makes films that are designed to be rewatched multiple times at home before they are comprehendible. He makes movies for the DVD, director's commentary generation. Movies that sometimes need reddit and reviews and comments sections to translate. As opposed to films which offer a complete experience in a single sitting. I think he is working at odds with his stated goals. I hope Nolan makes a movie this good where he gives up on needless complexity and recognizes the power of quiet and space. And that he finally makes another film like Memento or The Prestige which offers a complete experience on first viewing.

Such is itsChristopher Nolan's Oppenheimer is nothing short of a cinematic tour de force. From its opening frame to its captivating conclusion, the film is a 180-minute masterpiece that grips you, leaving you on the edge of your seat. Such is its brilliance and immersive storytelling, I hardly noticed the passage of time. Few films possess the allure to draw one back to the cinema for a rewatch, but Oppenheimer is undeniably one of them.

Ludwig Göransson's soundtrack deserves a standing ovation on its own. The auditory journey he crafts is mind-blowing. Each track is meticulously tailored to its corresponding scene, resonating with the film's varying emotions and pacing. The music flows with such elegance and coherence that it feels like a singular, 3-hour-long symphony, seamlessly underscoring the narrative.

In a world saturated with films vying for attention, Oppenheimer stands as a testament to what cinema can achieve. It's not just a movie; it's an experience—one that lingers long after the credits roll.

Strap yourselves in, because this ride is 3 hours long and has no action scenes like you might be used to from Nolan films. That being said, Nolan does it again!

This movie is a visual, audio, and acting masterpiece, and lives up to any hope that a true Nolan fan has. More so, it gives the audience a deep dive into the morality of the atomic bomb. Was the atomic bomb a terrible idea, or did it save the world from any future wars? This film aims to answer that.

Oppenheimer never loses or disengages you throughout its pulverizing 3 hours. It never ceases to give you something you want to see more of. Nolan is playing the game at his highest level. Sometimes the pacing does work against, but never to the films detriment or effect. The captivation never makes you doubt. It's done so well, and captured with such virtuosity. And leaves you with a sense of haunting bewilderment as Nolan teases the idea of what could destroy the world. Maybe his most provocative film yet, maybe his best, but certainly the kind of movie I've waited to see from him for a long time. I would've been okay for the pacing to be stretched out in a 4 hour movie. The quality, performances and filmmaking make it worth it. But the 3hr bombshell I'll accept. Expand

Not the "Manhattan Project", not the "Atomic Bomb", not "The Bombing of Hiroshima & Nagasaki", just Oppenheimer. It's about the life of a theorical physician who became the most important man in the world and his downfall in his point of view. If you were going into this movie expecting just to be about the creation of the atomic bomb or see the destruction of Japan, then you're setting yourself up to be disappointed.

Although the creation of the bomb maybe the standing climax of this film, there are other purposes that has an important role: Oppenheimer's communist views, the Manhattan Project, security clearance hearing. We also get to see Lewis Strauss point of view of Oppenheimer and the trail as well. This movie is a biopic character study movie work so well in every way. The acting was phenomenal from all cast members, including Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr. The pacing and editing were great, the music score was gripping, suspenseful, and well done. The sound has always been Nolan's criticism since The Dark Knight Rises, but it much better here in this movie despite being loud in IMAX.

The movie is treated like a documentary and its bit non-linear which I think some people would find boring considering it's a 3-hour movie of just people talking. I'll say knowing Nolan's style of filmmaking and it's a historical movie, it raises my expectations knowing where it was going. It's even better watching it on second viewing to look back what you miss during the first screening. I think this movie would've been received better for everybody if they didn't have issues with their attention span. Not all movies are meant to be entertaining but find some core of interested of something new we all been craving for. In the world where most summer blockbusters are CGI-fest, action packed, corny writing, this was actually refreshing.
