I think it's likely unrealistically given people, hope just some Hollywood trash this move is trashed.

I really like action movies, but this one is worth missing. I lasted about 40 minutes before I walked out after enduring a dumb script, poor direction, and amateur-like actors. The camera work was good.

The first half of the movie is still watchable even if there's not a lot to see other than the leading lady. The story goes all downhill after that though until it becomes a joke.

Gina Rodriguez's work can be rescued a bit, while the rest is as simplistic and forgettable as the original.

Catherine Hardwicke is inside a hole of mediocrity since Lords of Dogtown and she can't get out of it.

What the frack was this movie? Apart from a good performance from Gina Rodriguez this movie doesn`t have alot to offer other than goofy characters. Characters with no arcs. Un-developed plot points. There's nothing to see here besides a long winded novelty action movie that has a premise they cannot execute. Gina Rodriguez tries her best but even her performance comes off flimsy and unconvincing. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I went to the store today and bought a new lawnmower and got me a new coffee mug. I then stopped by the grocery store and got me some toilet paper, as well as some cat litter. Came home watched some TV. When my wife got home. We had sex 69 style and she's Korean. So when I was eating her cookie...she farted in my face. And said of I'm sorry. You lick from hole so good back hole blow you kiss. Oh ya This movie is a fast paced ripped off of Columbiana… Expand

In a bold attempt to do many modern things this film falls way-short, and in loosing touch with an important modern story becomes toxic, maybe it's totally appropriate for it to end with an apparently accepted offer of employment from the CIA...a strong central performance does hold everything together, just, but even that is not enough, Spanish-speaking characters in Mexican settings speaking American English might be easier to market in the US but it doesn't work narratively, and unsubtitled Spanish slipped in and around the main script at best is somewhat confusing and at worst feels like a bizarre and often in the context inappropriate language lesson, as do some attempts to show off on-location landmarks...two-dimensional characters and simplified scenarios clash with the main more sophisticated emotional story and become offensive, the severe loss of complexity becoming comical at times, this is not supposed to be funny, and in trying to turn Miss Bala into a teen-movie you subvert the whole story and end up glorifying the brutal violent and victim-filled tragic reality of drug-gang-warfare and state-corruption, the original Spanish-language film did not do this, and reimagined reproductions of some of the iconic scenes from that film don't work in the context, it's simply not good enough to just repeat them, I would have encouraged Gina Rodriguez to stay hiding under that bed, until the producers and director all left, and she could get out without having to shoot anyone with an assault-rifle in the name of female empowerment, there is a point where equality doesn't mean repeating all the stupid mistakes men make and in a female-lead female-directed production like this there is an opportunity to do something better and maybe more sophisticated...and to all the teenagers watching I say stop, you are better than this… Expand
