Visceral and perplexing and nostalgic for those of us who grew up with Tippets work shining in more narrative based entertainment. And yet if your not into the technical aspect of what is achieved here there isn't much to chew on that hasn't already been chewed by so many half baked post apocalyptic 80's gore fests. It feels legless. Prefering to confuse rather than tell let an audience understand. Which is fine if your in the mood but frustrating if you like investing in a journey. All in all, if your into films that still take risks and experiment you will come away with something. For those that like stop motion it's simply an essential watch. Expand

A very artistic vignette of what I can only describe as a post-apocalyptic Hell on earth. This movie has some of the most unique visuals I've seen in years. This movie has some of the most unique visuals I've seen in years. It makes horror beautiful, which isn't easy to do. You can feel the passion behind every frame, every choice and element. Definitely won't be for everyone, but I'd urge every horror fan to give it a go. You will walk away going "Wtf did I just watch?" Then you'll want to watch it again just to make sure it wasn't a fever dream. Expand

Overpoweringly brilliant. Will take me years to even begin to get a real grasp on it. One of the great films of all time.

Usually to say that a film is more style than substance tends to be seen as something negative, and in all honesty that's often the case, but for me Mad God is the opposite, because although it really lacks what you might call a plot, theUsually to say that a film is more style than substance tends to be seen as something negative, and in all honesty that's often the case, but for me Mad God is the opposite, because although it really lacks what you might call a plot, the experience it promotes is everything this film needs to sustain itself.

It's a corrosive vision that demonstrates why stop motion offers impressive resources to present proposals of this calibre and tone.
We're talking about an eerie, dark, sensory journey that should be savoured in that way. A grim trip full of darkness and violence.

I don't want to lock the film into a niche where it's only black and white, but either you immerse yourself in its proposal or you just don't. It's that simple.
Personally I loved it.

A delicious masterpiece of wet puppetry, with absolutely unsubtle, yet ambiguous storytelling. The stop motion animation and abominations that were in the movie was just amazing. There is just so much creativity and imagination in creating various tools and scenes that made this movie feel incredibly alive and hellish. This can be interpreted in a few ways but for me it felt like a post-modern version of Dante's Inferno. The descent of our character into different types of ''Hell's'' with their own cities describing different type of sins was amazing(my interpretation anyway) surrounded by hellish creatures which in my opinion only a really **** up mind can create was just am amazing and very imaginative and creative experience. The sound and music was also great and fit the piece perfectly (there were a few scenes where the sound effects didn't match the style but they are rare). It also appears that this was 30 years in the making which is possibly one of the longest creation of animated movies that have released (Not forgetting Yuri Norstein and Francheska Yarbusova the overcoat which is by now probably 50 years in the making). This is a must watch to see a personal hell of the creator and it's overflow with imagination and other **** up creations. It's not for everyone but for the few that will watch it they will definitely enjoy it. Expand

Disgustingly beautiful - like Grandfather Nurgle made a movie. Some things you see and you don't know WHY they are gross...but you know that they ARE gross and that's pretty interesting.
