The characters are shallow, the attempts at comedy fall flat, and there is an obvious disconnect from the tragic opening that makes it hard to care about any kind of emotional aspect. It's too simple and predictable for its own good. Expand

The danger of AI is a relevant but thoroughly explored theme that has been better presented in other movies. The writing is below average, the acting is uninspired, the plot is completely predictable and the movie is no way suspenseful or scary. It might have been better if they had gone for a comedy horror (with actual comedy), but as it is, this movie is just blah. The characters are all over the place. They shift throughout the movie, but it's not character development, it's just bad writing. And the toy is so poorly made that a glass of water is a problem? Really? Like they didn't realize a child's toy might get wet while designing it? Then suddenly it's almost indestructible. Just like the human characters whose personalities shift depending on what the plot needs. More garbage writing from the modern entertainment industry. Expand

Dull, naive and illogical script. Many logic holes and amateurish execution. It could have been so much better if some really talented and professional writers had been at work, but so...

People really like this? This is crap! Worst acting I have seen this year. Story is sh*t too. One good thing, the doll is kind of creepy looking.

Terrible. How am I’m gonna watch a horror movie if I don’t feel scared about the main antagonist. This is just a rip off 2019 child’s play. Didn’t enjoy one bit of it 0/10

This is the worst movie ive seen in years, laughably bad. The acting terrible, the writing horrible. Save yourself the time and avoid the whole mess. Stank, stank, stunk.

This movie is way to scary for a pg13 rating. I cried and I'm an adult. I had to sleep with the lights on, one of the most scary movies I have ever seen. DO NOT SHOW THIS TO YOUR CHILDREN.

It is as bared bones and minimalistic as possible, supplying very little in terms of thrills or complexity. It's hindered heavily by its PG-13 rating, as it painfully panders to the strict barriers of its rating and does not quite harmonize with the slasher genre. A film of this mundane and sanitized state would have to make up for it in immense creativity but it simply does not. If the film was to push the envelope a little further in terms of it's content, appealing more to true fans of horror and not just a forgettable movie for high school aged kids to zone in and out of, then the movie might be a bit more redeemable but alas, this is a PG-13 horror film in it's truest form. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Megan
1/10

A deeply absurd movie that relies on implausible logic, unlikable characters that follows trauma child, Katie, that befriends an uncanny valley robot, Megan, who, in universe, shouldn't exist due to the time it took (one night) for Jemma to build.

As the lead suggests, this movie is absurd and begs the audience to believe a super sophisticated, ground breaking, revolutionary robot can be built in one night with spare parts. The movie goes then through a series of only passingly interesting events that show the development of the murder bot until the climax eventually happens. The climax is the ONLY enjoyable part of the movie which gives the movie its 1/10 for Katie using the Bruce bot to resolve the conflict which is the only example of good writing in the entire film.

This is billed as a Horror movie. A horror movie. Yet the cringe bot sings THREE times in a, again, and I cannot stress this enough, HORROR movie. It also Dances once in the second most cringe scene next to the dog running scene.

I would highly HIGHLY suggest no one waste an hour and 41 minutes to watch this deeply confused, migrane of a film.
