What the hell did I watch? It starts well as a detective thriller, then mutates into a mystery, a scifi, an action, a spy movie, a test or a preview of Idris as the future 007. Contamination of genres? Naw: too few ideas to write a single storyline. Talking about the sick voyeurism of the darkweb with the "Red Room" that "The Shining" taught us to be the phonetic palindrome of "murder"? Too much effort. Serkis is among the least psychologically outlined cinematographic serial killers: does he kill for bruxism or for what? I didn't get it and it didn't urge me to understand it. For those who are willing to gloss over the excess of idiocies.

It's more like a standalone episode than a proper movie. A recurring problem in movies that are born from TV shows, so I think it will only work better for fans than for casual viewers.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Okay, how do they do this? "Arrested Development", "Black Mirror" and now "Luther" - why are great series turning into something very different at Netflix? "Luther" used to be "Cracker" on steroids, this is torture porn (with the absence of understandable motive - the backbone of the former series- as hollow punchline). Some great locations, usually full of bodies dangling under the ceiling. Great shots of ice and snow and London. The film shows a lot of love for Luther`s coat- better than nothing, I guess. Expand

Decent thriller, the angles and suspense are pretty tame here unfortunately. I appreciate that he just randomly went to stand on the roof a building to look cool I guess.

A movie that picks right up where the series left us. Intense, full of suspense and that gritty set up so enjoyed in the small screen. Clearly a continuation of everything the fans loved with a much bigger budget and production value to match

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Utterly preposterous. None of the tension or characterisation of the TV show. My phone doesn’t work if my finger is damp, but Luther was able to use the bad guy’s well over 10m down in icy water. How exactly did the divers get there so quickly? Why would they have been ready to jump from the helicopter? Expand
