So riddled with clices and vacuous ideas, brain dead scriptwriting, pity the main actor is good, but the story is abysmal, shallow, ho hum... in fact I'm writing this as the climax is happening... it is just soooo dull. The motivations for many of the characters to do and say the things they do are just arbitrary and lack insight, intelligence, creativity, ANYTHING POSITIVE. Expand

This was indeed really bad from the beginning till the very end. Only good things: Idris Elba and that it actually ended. It´s such a pity that such a decent show suffers from such a lousy movie.

A sequence of set pieces that appear to have been written by a committee of 13yr old boys. Avoid if you are remotely discerning as this is far inferior to the TV show

Omg what have they done with our DCI Luther? It's true that over the years our good London cop with undeniable charisma was gradually crumbling, we felt the downward slope with a drop in speed for seasons 4 and 5. Nevertheless I was expectingOmg what have they done with our DCI Luther? It's true that over the years our good London cop with undeniable charisma was gradually crumbling, we felt the downward slope with a drop in speed for seasons 4 and 5. Nevertheless I was expecting a more or less correct sequel.

But it was a total disappointment, the film is as indigestible as useless. We have the frank impression that the actors are only there to get their fee and nothing else, it's an abysmal void, where is the script?

SPOILER ALERT :

After 5 minutes it's already going to hell, Idriss Elba, once resplendent, is only an illusion here, nothing is plausible and even less realistic, the guy escapes from prison by magic, beating up a dozen bullies in the process, He gets stabbed twice but gallops like an antelope, we say to ourselves that it was necessary to respect the specifications of Netflix and that it will work out, but it doesn't! The more we go on, the more we realize the mediocrity of the thing, worthy of a series like "Lupin". I'll spare you the rest, because nothing holds up, it's incoherence after incoherence, even Serkis is bad in his role of psychopath, and this grotesque hairstyle, we're talking about it...

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It's simply disappointing. And it's not even the WOKE-ness of it. I love Elba as a tortured Holmesian detective and Serkis is great as a psychopathic villain... but the head of the crime unit is black, the martyred officer is black, the traitor officer is white, all the villains accomplices are white. It's just so tiresome. There are literally TWICE as many Asians in England as blacks, and yet we are absolutely 100% ignored! All of these series have blacks as the goodies, whites as the baddies, and Asians are absent. Okie, I guess part of it really is the WOKE-ness of it. But it really isn't all: it's just boring. That's probably the greatest crime. A brilliant Holmesian detective and the story is nothing but a bore, with little to no mystery, and mere generic spectacle. Oh, I'm mistaken, the one Asian was one of the degenerates giddily watching the brutality happen. Guess that's what the BBC thinks of us. Truly a waste of 130-minutes. Expand
