This tries too hard to include everthing in the book. Fans of the source material loved the original for sticking close to the main plot and leaving in one sub-plot. Actors kodi Smith-McPhee and Chloe Moretz are good actors, the directing and other actors prove that you can't use every single detail from a complex novel. As you may have guessed I'm not excited for the remake of Stieg Larsson's Millenium trilogy. Expand

garbage compared to the original. the only people who refuse to see the original are likely illiterate and cant read subtitles. it must be embarrassing to be a director who remakes a classic into watered down puree for the american mass audience.

They took a great movie and added bad special effects, dialogue worthy of twilight, rubbish actors (except for Chloe Moretz and Richard Jenkins) and the annoying sound effects you see in movies like My Bloody Valentine.
They then removed all creepiness in the movie to make it easier to watch.
And in the end we are left with a mix of Twilight and Diary of a Wimpy Kid.
Stick with the original, it did not need remaking.
I watched this movie because the critic reviews seemed decent and Matt Reeves.
Now i will never watch a movie with Matt in the credits.

Also "a brief sexual situation." made me laugh so hard.

Slow, pretentious, boring. It is a remake, so it's not even original. You will have a hard time staying awake. Art house addicts will love this one, because it looks deep and meaningful. It is not.

Unfortunately it's almost exactly the same movie and like the original, still suffers from glacial pacing and an overwhelmingly drab and dreary aesthetic. It was like watching a feature length, horror version of the opening credits to Coronation Street. Expand
