It features a lot of vivid colours and is pretty fast paced and tense at times. There's a fair bit of CGI present too. Its amusing at times and I like that it doesn't take itself especially seriously, although its certainly fair to say that if you don't like outlandish, hard to believe plotlines, then this won't be for you. Its a good bit of an escapist watch - a bit like a James Bond film (a bit, not entirely and in this scenario Colin Firth would be the protagonist Mr. Bond) which is trippier than usual!. I thought it was perhaps a bit like a British Men in Black film. It features chase scenes, fights, explosions and some pretty decent cinematography. I wasn't entirely keen on the exaggerated accents - not just American but Scottish too but otherwise, I enjoyed it and I'd recommend it to others, yes. Oh and it's got a sweary Elton John in it too, which is amusing. Expand

The cast is OK but they don't really have the presence like those in the first film. Moore feels like a miscast, Tatum was barely featured in the movie and the lack of Strong is a disappointment.

In comparison to the first movie, It's nowhere near as fun or enjoyable to watch.

Anyway: The movie was very entertaining to watch and even fun. This action packed movie has one of the best - if not THE best - action sequences, I simply love the rare uncut footage, or very rarely cut where most people won't notice, love the performance of the stunt doubles and the actors as well. The action scenes are simply too satisfying. It had a pacing issue but not in the general direction. At the beginning everything happens too fast and without impact, and weight to it. I like the fact that they are not afraid to add realism to the formula by killing off character, but I don't like the fact that they did so without tension and consequence. And they did so to fast. I also think that the actors delivered decently well, on their role, but also it felt like a lot of actors deserved a lot more screen time. Sound effects sounded great, and the music was just right on point but the visual effect where so sloppy in the first part of the movie. I mean if it's CGI at least do it right. I was very disappointed with the CGI. Anyway the plot is pretty simple but can not foresee it, for it is not cliche at all, and it's fresh. The plot twists are warmly welcomed.
Overall it's a very good movie, but it's built on it's predecessor's success, which won't be enough next time. And please give Channing Tatum more screen time.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The best action movie I've seen. Intense, fun, and sucks you in, with charming characters that are full of life. Over the top humor with a wink to the audience never fails to enhance the experience, rather than detract from it. Even a cold bastard of a US president works well to keep the plot going the way it needs to.
Characters are consistently awesome, but the challenges they face never seem easy or boring to watch. The actions sucks you in, not in small part due to the shifting camera angles. I gasped whenever the protagonists were at risk, and sighed when they survived another hardship - usually in some epic manner.
My one gripe is with the contrived killing of a main character towards the end of the film, for what seems to be a "diversity" replacement for the sequel. He will be missed.

I however was disappointed with almost the whole movie. The beginning was great it proceeded to be good until the first plot change! From there it went down hill and became silly. There were to many introductions of new characters without any development? A list of A LIST actors used not to improve the story but seemingly for not much of a reason? The bad guy in the first movie was silly crazy but you could understand him and what he wanted! This movie from the introduction of the bad person got silly and just got worse. Then the disposal of the villains opposition and the showing of how you were approved was handled in as gross a way as they could come up with? The first movie you knew when everyone died but at least they left it to your imagination. This one did not! Don't let your little ones see this movie if you don't want to have them crying a night? Because of the first movie I hope they will have the third. Because of the second I am not as sure? Expand

Matthew Vaugh manages to add even more absurd elements on top of the ones already instilled by it's predecessor whilst simultaneously expanding the world of private intelligence services. While the shear ridiculousness can be quite funny and at times makes for a riotous experience, it doesn't make up for the lack of the original's kinetic, spectacular action. With the exception of Pedro Pascal gunning down henchman in Italy, there's nothing that matches even the earliest bar fight scene in the first Kingsman and a lot of the potential excitement over what is here gets robbed by the appearance of too much CGI. That's the real disappointment with The Golden Circle, but one can't help noticing that the writing isn't as sharp either.

Eggsy's latest mission to save the world feels a little too by the numbers. Julianne Moore does her best as the film's main villain, but ultimately goes underutilized. Her character lacks presence in the plot and that causes her to feel much less threatening than Samuel Jackson did in the original. I appreciate all of the returning faces though. Even the ones that don't make sense (I'm looking at you Colin Firth). I loved the inclusion of Hanna Alström in a larger role here. It's a pretty cool move that makes the Kingsman a spy movie series where the women are more than just conquests meant to disappear and be replaced from film to film. It also makes Eggsy feel a little more honorable and a whole lot more likable as a result. I was surprised by just how much I had grown to love the characters. It's The Golden Circle's surprise strength and will undoubtedly be what keeps the franchise going in spite of already diminishing returns.

Moving to the U.S. and introducing viewers to the Statesman does just enough to keep this sequel afloat. It's still plenty funny and there are one or two really exciting action sequences unlike anything else out there. It's just lacking the original's freshness and creativity even in it's most inventive scenarios. Kingsman 3 will really need to step up it's game across the board, but I can still say that The Golden Circle is a good movie. It's got a charming cast, gonzo technology, insanity around every corner, and Elton John himself. It's kind of hard to not have fun with it. Where else are you going to find a spy flick that manages to out sexy Bond and matches the IMF in terms of crazy stunts?

I felt the previous film to be a bit atonal, unable to balance the seriousness with the comic campiness. This one I found to be more consistent.

I accept this for what it is: a colorful thrill ride. There is good over the top action all around. Especially liked the villain's hideout being 1950's Americana-themed. Added a unique look.

Digged Julianne Morre as the villain Poppy. She was the right balance of humorous and nuts. I feel credit should be give to Hanna Alström as Princess Hilde. They really evolved her role from her controversial bit part in the last film. Also, there is a celebrity in this who was very entertaining as he seemed to be totally game with what was going on screen. What I also liked about the film was its satirical look at the hypocrisy behind what substances should and shouldn't be illegal.

I do admit there were a couple things that bugged me. A lot of the female characters in this film were given short thrift and Channing Tatum was underutilized.

Still I liked this overall. Just watch this if you want to have a fun time without thinking.

Reasons; over-the-top action sequences, excessive and bothersome use of CGI, a disjointed plot line (unlike the coherently developed one from the first movie), and a crowded cast (there are movies that require or are enhanced by ensemble casts, this is not one of them). Not as good as the first, but still very entertaining

Recreating the exact feeling of the original movie will never be possible. It was a new take on old things and that is what made it different. However, this movie was pretty darn good anyways.

There were new characters introduced, and while I personally wasn't as enticed by the American brand of Kingsman, overdone cowboys with even worse names then the Kingsman. Even so I felt it was fairly funny. The storyline itself was similar to the first movie, but did have some interesting twists that included implying the horribleness of capitalism and a very pessimistic view of our government.

There was a sex scene I was uncomfortable with, but I don't think it was rapey or as bad as others have talked about. The other item I disliked happened at the beginning of the movie and involved two close friends of Eggsy. I don't want to spoil things so I wont say anymore, but I was disappointed we didn't get to see more about them in this movie.

While I said it isn't the same height of fun as the first one, it was a good, solid, funny spy movie. Not in the same class as Atomic Blonde, but they weren't trying for that anyways.

The good: Funny, great fight scenes and I am fond of the Eggsy/Merlin interaction.

The bad: The American stereotype was pretty basic, I wish they could have done more to either make the Statesmen from somewhere more traditionally Old West, or switch the character types out to something more Southern.

I am definitely in for future movies for this series.

Julianne Moore is delicious as the saccharin-sweet villain and Elton John throws F-bombs and a flying sidekick! Poppy's killer robot dogs are named Bennie and Jet, yes. There's another fun beat-on-bullies bar fight scene and the final fight scene is most excellent. Mixing in the Kentucky bourbon culture is also fun. But it's not all fun and games, the Kingsmen lose one of their own in a sacrifice to the mission. More fun, there's new tech introduced but if you're a Trump fan you won't like the not so subtle similarities and how he ends up - it's a leftwing looney toon dream, but that's all they've got. It pisses me off when idiot film-makers feel compelled to warp their films to make political statements but that idiocy reflects on them. Docked a point for that. In any case, still a bunch of fun. Starts off great with a fantastic car chase that involves Eggsy (Egerton) fighting a Winter Solider-ized Charlie Hesketh (the explanation for how he survived the first movie admittedly makes no sense) soundtracked to Let’s Go Crazy by Prince.Starts off great with a fantastic car chase that involves Eggsy (Egerton) fighting a Winter Solider-ized Charlie Hesketh (the explanation for how he survived the first movie admittedly makes no sense) soundtracked to Let’s Go Crazy by Prince. But sadly, the rest of the sequel to Matthew Vaughn's surprise R-rated action hit never hits the same high note.

On the whole, The Golden Circle is a typical average sequel. There are also some fun action and humor-filled banter with Eggsy and an eye-patched Galahad (resurrected through the power of deus ex machina) at the end too.

There are also plenty of damn funny moments too, including one involving a GPS tracker that literally had everybody in the audience rolling on the floor.

Even though this sequel is far from devoid of entertainment value, it disappointingly suffers from typical sequelitis problems and it is all rooted in the script, which essentially boils down to a bloated re-tread of the first movie.

The movie suffers from severe pacing issues due to too many uninteresting plot threads (Ex. Eggsy's relationship trouble) and ultimately pointless characters.

Even the Statesman, which were a centerpiece in the film’s marketing, end up being completely superfluous to the plot. Channing Tatum fans will be severely disappointed because he only has a total of 10 minutes of total screen time before being unceremoniously removed from the plot. Even Halle Berry and Jeff Bridges are barely in the movie and thus do not make much of an impression.

The only Statesman to receive any significant screen-time is Pedro Pascal, who plays Jack Daniels (aka. the one with the whip). Now I really like Pascal, especially on Narcos, and he does a good job with the role and has a good chemistry with main trio of Kingsman. But as with the case with most things with this movie, Jack Daniels doesn’t really add much to the narrative and mostly exists to squeeze in more action sequences.

Probably the biggest weakness of this movie is surprisingly it’s main villain. Despite a solid introduction (you will not look at a hamburger the same way again), the 50’s obsessed drug lord Poppy Adams (Moore) comes off as more of an annoyance to our heroes than an actual threat. She lacks that seamless balance of odd humor and sincere menace that Samuel L. Jackson brought in the first one. Her obsession with the 50’s is never given a satisfying explanation outside of “she’s crazy” and her scheme is simply idiotic.

Moore’s overly ernest dialogue delivery and just the fact that most of the jokes written for her are lame contribute to her character getting annoying and old VERY fast. Moore is a very good actress but her performance was simply terrible!!

Back in 2014 Guardians of the Galaxy was a breath of fresh air for the superhero film, John Wick showed us how action films should be and Kingsman: The Secret Service injected a much-needed sense of fun back into the spy movie.

Now, director Matthew Vaughn, along with an all-star cast return for The Golden Circle and waste absolutely no time in establishing that this is going to be 100% nuts.

Before the film even starts the disembodied voice of Mark Strong bellows out, in character as Merlin, reminding the audience to switch off their phones or he'll 'repeat the church scene on us'.

We're then treated to an insane opening car chase through London complete with android arms, mini-guns and a submarine, all set to Prince's Let's Go Crazy.

By jumping the shark in the first five minutes, Vaughn quickly dispels all sense of realism, to quote Eggsy 'This ain't that kind of movie bruv'.

As the plot about the sinister drug organisation of the title unfolds, things just get more and more ridiculous. There are robot dogs, there are laser lassos, there are even devices that can repair your brain following a head-shot.

That last one is indicative of the main problem with Kingsman 2. There are no stakes. The first film was insane, but it still felt like there were consequences, thanks in no small part to the sheer level of violence on display. Here the tone and the plot lead you to believe that at any point someone will turn up with a gadget that will solve all the problems, save the day and no one will get hurt.

The comedic tone has also become a bit of a problem. While the first film flirted with some fairly controversial punchlines, this time things go a step too far. Specifically, there is a sequence set at Glastonbury festival which is just gratuitous in every sense of the word. This scene, which has already started to grab headlines, is one of a couple of instances where the film slips into full Austin Powers territory.

Although it sometimes oversteps the mark, The Golden Circle is here to have fun and on that front, it delivers in spades. The cast, both old and new, are clearly having the time of their lives and it's hard for that not to translate off-screen. Julianne Moore is wonderfully nuts as the murderous Poppy in a sickly sweet performance that calls back a certain Dolores Umbridge from the Harry Potter series (who is, in my opinion, one of the greatest screen villains in recent decades).

The Statesman also make a predictably ostentatious debut. The American version of the Kingmen are represented by Jeff Bridges, Channing Tatum, Pedro Pascal and Halle Berry, all on fine form. While the introduction of the Statesman provides a new dimension to the world, it's a shame that a lot of what people loved about the first film i.e. the sheer British-ness, has been lost in the confusion.

Sequelitis is on display in Kingsman 2 more so that any other follow-up this year. The filmmakers have fully embraced the 'bigger is better' approach and as a result, the film often feels bloated and overlong. There are at least two subplots that could have been cut out in their entirety, and the kinetic, frantic camerawork that made the 'church scene' from part one so memorable is definitely over-used this time around.

That's not to say the film doesn't deliver some great fight sequences towards the end, it's just that we've spent an extra hour getting there that we didn't need. Likewise, some of the best humor is saved for the final act, and surprisingly enough it's often delivered by the one member of the cast who is not necessarily known for being an 'actor'.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle is definitely fun, and on that level, it's a success. Much like Guardians 2 and John Wick 2 though, it can't recapture the fresh, genre-shaking impact of the first movie. While embracing the sheer silliness of the world has allowed the filmmakers to fully unleash the craziness this time around, the series is dangerously close to reminding us why spy movies went so serious in the first place....does anyone remember Die Another Day?

However, in my opinion, the sequel is far inferior to the first outing and lacks that distinct sense of originality to fall back on. It boasts a superb cast including Colin Firth, Julieanne Moore and Halle Berry. In spite of the A-list actors involved; it never manages to use them to their full potential. As a huge fan of Julianne Moore, I was disappointed at how poorly she came across. I'd go so far as to say it's the worst performance of her career, and that's a crying shame for such a terrific actress. There's plenty of action, and the sets are all quite colourful though mostly tight spaced not giving us the illusion of a larger world even though the plot sets itself on a global stage.
Overall, it's fast-paced and does have some semblance of a plot however rudimentary. I much preferred the first movie though and honestly doubt I'd see the third instalment should Vaughn decide to make one.

This may be the worst movie I have ever seen in my entire life. The plot was laughable - a bizarre slow -speaking villain with a random (and unexplained) preference for 1950's themed decor. "It's nostalgia" she quips at one point - while speaking to robot-dogs with laser eyes who also have meat grinders in them (that's what you want in a robot-dog, obviously). The action is lousy and obviously green-screened - so badly that it's clear the creators had a "we want to slap-you-in-the-face with our fondness for cheesy special-effects" attitude. None of the characters make sense. On the flipside, the cast has fun with the film, just as they did with the first one, with Colin Firth, Taron Egerton, and Mark Strong reprising their roles from the first and doing what they do best. Even the new additions to cast, such as Julianne Moore, Jeff Bridges, Channing Tatum, Halle Berry, and even Sir Elton John, made it pretty fun and worthwhile as well. Overall, it doesn't have as unique or compelling of a story to tell this time around, which makes the two-and-a-half hour runtime a bit of a chore to sit through at times, but with enough fun moments throughout, as well as a satisfying and enjoyable final half hour or so, it's worth checking out if you enjoyed the first film. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I was very excited when trailers were released for this movie. I was actually enthusiastic for this sequel after liking the first so much. This movie looked over the top and action packed and I thought I was going to have a fun time. I was somewhat correct. While this movie had stellar action scenes, this movie lacks almost everything else. The story was basically a repeat of the first movie with new and returning characters. We are introduced to a new group of characters called the Statesman. With a nice collection of actors filling in the role you expect them to be a major part of the movie. Well... Not really. Elton John was a cameo for this film and was an extended joke that stayed too long in the movie. Even though his presence in the movie was appreciated, he had more screentime than a lot of the initial cast themselves. Some major complaints I have with this movie is that some of the characters were killed off unnecessarily and it's a shame some of them had to go just because the director thought it would add drama to the situation. Also, the Princess is back in this sequel after assuming it was a one-time ordeal but she's back, sadly. Another thing I despised with this movie is that they antagonized one of the newer characters that played a fantastic role in the movie but was sadly killed off in the end. Other than that, The humor in this movie was there and the soundtrack had some very nice selections. This sequel played it way too safe and was dumbed down and lacks the charm and style the first was known for. I can't say that I was happy by the time I left the movie theater but I can say that I was a little disappointed. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I was late but I finally watched it. I am one of those who really enjoyed the first movie and in fact I liked it a lot more than the comic on which it's based, I won't deny that I had huge expectations but I've gotta say that in general terms; Kingsman: The Golden Circle fulfilled them.

There is plenty of action, the film begins with a really good car chase and fight sequence, the action is well-ordered and entertaining, the attitude and style of the original film is there, Taron Egerton, Colin Firth and Mark Strong are at their point, like if it was yesterday. There is new additions to the cast, they help the film a bit and manage to make it a fun and entertaining experience.
That nothing is taken seriously? well that is the whole point of the franchise and what makes it so refreshing among so many films about espionage and terrorists too tied to reality.

I could easily give the movie a rating of 8 but that would only be fair if I would ignored all its problems and to be honest, the movie has many.
Mainly with the story and the cast; The Golden Circle has an impressive cast, c'mon, face it, it's great, we already have Colin Firth and Mark Strong, now add Julianne Moore, Halle Berry Channing Tatum Jeff Bridges Peter Pascal, Michael Gambon Bruce Greenwood and Emily Watson, the cast is huge and most of them are very well recognized names, however the simplicity of the script also passes to the characters and all of them absolutely all them with the exception of Eggsy and Harry are collateral characters without a true argumentative weight and that perhaps is the biggest mistake of this film, c'mon, wasting Jeff Bridges and Julianne Moore with characters so one-dimensional is terrible, especially Moore who's a terrible villain, I'm sorry but it's true.

Vaughn also give a few minutes on screen to Channing Tatum and Halle Berry when the trailers promised otherwise. I understand that Vaughn plans to use them more in a third film but nothing guarantees another film.
Elton John's cameo although funny is quite forced and the thing that angered me a lot was how they got rid of Mark Strong's character, it's true that the movie destroys all of Kingsman including Roxy/Lancelot but it's very evident that Merlin's death is forced by the script to provoke a dramatic scene like the one in the original film when Harry gets shot and apparently ''killed'' and although they try to give him a dignified exit truth is: I **** hate it.

Beyond that if you want a movie to have fun and have a good time believe me that this is the movie and if you enjoyed the first one there is no reason not to enjoy this one.

Moore is a fantastic villain, and the delightful script, unexpected cameos, pointed political commentary, and excellent action sequences ensure a compelling and thoroughly enjoyable experience throughout. The pacing is fast, and the cinematography continues with the unique cinematic approach of the first film, so this still feels fresh, and it also delivers again in successfully utilising a diverse cast. A ridiculously fun film with lines that will be remembered for years to come. 8.22/10 Expand

I just saw a mainstream big budget action movie; based on a comic and featuring superheroes (just call them secret agents); lasting 140 minutes – at least 30 more than any movie of its ilk should; and I enjoyed myself and left kind of wanting for more! I
honestly couldn’t see this happening. the last time I was really into mainstream big budget projects was somewhen circa the beginning of the century.
This is the sequel to 2014’s new kind of secret agent movie – let’s call it James Bond introduced to the YA generation. This time they battle the evil mafiosos who like to urinate on other battle (hence the name "golden ring")... or maybe just some evil-doers or the other.
Some of the original cast has returned, including Taron Egerton as the central young hero and Hanna Alström as his girlfriend the Swedish princess, Mark Strong, and Colin Firth, and there are many new famous faces, including Halle Berry, Jeff Bridges, Julianne Moore, Emily Watson, Channing Tatum, and, er, Elton John as himself.
Matthew Vaughn has always been a versatile and exemplary director who’s noteworthy for bold visual inventiveness and stylishness in his movies, from heavily effect-based, choreographed and edited fights, to minimalist but glamorous look of the world, to outlandish gadgets used to fight evil. OK, I know it's all a team effort, but he's still the guys who pulls it all together, innit?
After seeing „The Golden Circle“ I believe even more that Vaughn really was unofficially directing Guy Ritchie’s first and best two movies for him.
This movie is visually wild and crazy like a „Snatch.“, if the latter was a mainstream comic book / superhero project. You can have fun just cherishing how everything looks and plays out on the screen. As usual, screenplay is by Vaughn himself and his long-time writing partner Jane Goldman.
Like all my favorite porn flicks, „The Golden Circle“ already starts with a bang, ramps us the pace and holds it, and doesn’t end before everybody involved has had their fair share.
There are car chases, fights (I am kind of surprises that there’s still so many original fights in movies!) and bombastic setpieces involving an unusual lasso, robots, meat mincing machine and more. But you could already expect some crazy **** based on the first movie, yeah?
It’s not a perfect movie. The characters and the plot are not really that interesting in a meaningful way (I know, I know, it’s still a mainstream big budget action, it’s not supposed to be that interesting).
What is worse: all the famous faces joining the cast don’t really have anything cool to do, and their roles are rather small, which is surprising, especially considering Berry.
One could say it’s kind of a lost chance but it’s also true that there’s so much happening that there’s no need for famous faces to add anything, really. Maybe their roles are small-ish for budget reasons. But, then, why add so many of them anyway?
Leaving minor niggles like this aside, the „Kingsman“ sequel is a kick-ass joyride of a movie which not only looks good and feels good but left me wanting for more.
More action, more surprisingly but deliciously weird jokes, more style, more of this secret world which plays something like „MIB“ meets 007 meets superhero movies, more enjoyable details such as drug kingpin creating American 1950’s nostalgia land in the jungle for home, more outlandish turns of events such as the U.S. president going renegade etc.
For a blockbuster, „The Golden Circle“ sure does have a lot of personality, both plot- and visual style wise. And for that, I applaud it! I really wish most pure entertainment movies were shorter. But "Kingsman 2" is 140 minutes, I wasn’t bored once and left asking for more!
Many critics seem disappointed by „The Golden Circle“, for example, Rotten’s Tomatoes’ consensus says the part deux offers more of everything that made its predecessor so much fun, but lacks the original's wild creative spark.
I think the real situ is exactly vice versa, and the first part, while good enough, is lacking compared to the sequel.

But the jokes about the different female characters, instead of dealing with this woman in particular, to produce results instead of results in the need to be managed. It is a smart call.
The scene plays funny, jokes and profanity. Because of the plot.

For a lot of people that may reach absurd levels but honestly, the folks who loved the first movie and it's satire essence, absurd fight scenes (however with way less gore than other movies with the same style) and it`s hundreds of jokes, will pretty much enjoy The Golden Circle.
This film was a 7 out of 10 for me. I`ll start with the negative points. As shown in the trailer, Colin Firth's character is back, not a great fan of bringing a cool character back to life, as Valentine said after the church scene "This ain't that kind of movie" , for me, bringing Harry back takes back those words. However, his character works almost perfectly in the movie, a few things weren't as I would prefer, and with the exception of an issue that appears but then vanishes, his character works pretty fine. The Golden Circle has a LOT of sad moments but i believe the viewers weren't given the proper time to grief, the movie is big and that's understandable but still a point to mention. As seen in the trailer, this film has a huge list of famous names, but i get the feeling that 2 names were characters that had no time, the only statesman with a proper screentime is the one played by Pedro Pascal, I quite missed the presence of Tatum and Bridges. Finally and last thing to mention, the movie indeed repeats it`s predecessor formula. We have a bar scene, a water scene, a car scene, the villain's sidekick getting to fight a lot at the end. However, i must say that while watching most of this scenes felt fresh, when they star you get the feeling that it will be a repeated story but it has unexpected ends, i got myself multiple time shook during the movie, screaming at the characters "please don't do this" or "omg i can't believe he is going to die" so this is the point we get from the negative points to the good ones! Even tho people are saying that they weren't feeling for the characters, I personally got very worried about what was happening to them, the movie indeed falls for to many plot lines but this isn't as much bad as the rumors, maybe my final thought will be that they could have saved a few stuff for the 3rd movie, but okay. Besides those things i mentioned, the movie has a lot of humor, a lot of action, no church scene but that's fine. The discussion that the the villain brings up is very well fit for our society and I'm honestly looking forwards the 3rd Kingsman, I just hope they'll be fixing those problems but I'm not asking for another Secret Service cause to be fair, the greatest part of that first movie is that it came outta nowhere and people weren't expecting none of that, in other words, the element of surprise.
PS
It has a very extreme scene related to jokes and sex, if u dislike the one at the end of the first movie you probably are going to hate this one
PS 2
Pedro Pascal is rocking his character here
PS 3
If you don't like over the top things then don't even bother to watch a Matthew Vaughn movie such as Kingsman, this one is more over the top than The Secret Service or Kick Ass, so come ready!

Channing Tatum and Halle Berry's character's are easily the most interesting new characters but theyre utterly wasted in their roles, Tatum moreso than Berry. The returning cast also does a good job but I liked Mark strong and Elton John's appearance the most out of all of them. My main problem with this movie is its excursiveness and desire to be bigger and badder than the first one, the pacing is also a huge letdown as the movie stands at almost 3 hours long when it didn't need to be that long to begin with. With that being said, its still by no means a bad movie, disappointing yes but not bad. Expand

Hearing all of this bad reviews to the movie I feel it could be because they do not see it as a second part, when they expected another 1st movie. The problem maybe is that we were ready to see more Kingsman alone adventures, and expanding the universe do not gives us time to love the organization, but it is still fun, with the cousins. It is a great and fun movie, but do not see it as another like the first movie; see it as second part, with a more of everything. Expand

Kingsman: The Golden Circle starts off a bit vague, slow and unnecessary. But it was in a position to pick itself back up and offer the humorous, slightly cartoonish and action-packed hybrid that it is good at.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. For all of the people that are defending this movie for being "meta" and satirical of old, terrible spy movies, it's not satire if it succumbs to the same issues as those films. The action and Mark Strong's performance were its only saving graces and even those were ruined by crappy country music in the action scenes and Merlin's anticlimactic death while butchering a John Denver song. This is Matthew Vaughn's first sequel and it really shows, this movie is how to not make a sequel and I hope that Matthew Vaughn redeems himself with a good movie. Expand

"F**k you!" - Quote by Academy Award Wining Elton John

I remembered back on it's release of the first Kingsman and how refreshing it was. Nothing about it broke any ground and isn't flawless, but manages to have a unique quality by taking well known troops in spy movies, and putting it's own spin. The villain was threating, another underdog story and it following old spy tropes. Basically things that could've been bad if put in the wrong hands, turned into a surprise hit.

"The Golden Circle" on the other hand is pretty much the adult version of Spy Kids. It focus more on jokes than brains. It dose what every sequel dose and that's try to be bigger and bolder. To be honest, it doesn't feel like Matthew Vaughn directed this and he normally avoids sequels, I now know why. Despite it not fully living up to the first, I still found enjoyment within the stupidity.

Landing more into the guilty pleasure side of things.

Taron Egerton, Mark Strong, and maybe Elton John were the highlights of the movie. Since Firth is absence for half of the movie, Egerton and Strong fill in that lovable chemistry that was in the first. Giving everything their got. And of course Elton John was great like always.

Colin Firth and the character Harry Hart are what made the first film so great. Not the usual type casting for an actor like Firth and it surprised many of us. As I said before, he's mostly absence for half of the film until he finally comes back when the plot needs him. The whole thing with him being shot in the eye, however in the first movie you can clearly see the bullet going through his head and the idea of a evil twin brother doesn't sound too bad. Anywhere, none of it makes sense, but I'm glad to see him back even if he didn't do much.

The actions scenes are once again top notch, especially the car chase at the beginning and final sentence. A little bit too quick to see things at times and I wish they was some build up behind it.

While not as compelling as Samuel L. Jackson character, but Julianne Moore was pretty decent as the villain. Of course Moore puts it all into everything shes in. Playing the psychotic housewife stuck in the 50's and doing some graphic things to get her way. It's weird there's a point in the film where she completely disappears only to re-appear in the third act, and I forget she was in this at one point.

The same goes with Halle Berry, Channing Tatum, and Jeff Bridges who are barley in the film. I heard there's a longer cut of the movie and I wonder if any of them had extra scenes, because who knows until actually get something. I mean, isn't Vinnie Jones suppose to be in this?

The plot itself when reading it out doesn't sound like a real movie. Some have already said it's self aware and how it's spoofing old spy movie. I can see that, but the movie is becoming the thing it's mocking. Trying to be smart on the political side of things and failing hard. Force humor and call backs for no reason.

But those are the problems I had which is quite a lot.

Overall Rating: MANNERS MAKETH MAN. OR NOT.
