John Wick is something special. It takes as much time setting up elaborate action sequences as it does the world with which it all takes place in. And what a world it is. It reminds me of Millers Crossing and it is cooler than any otherJohn Wick is something special. It reminds me of Millers Crossing and it is cooler than any other recent attempt at noir. We are shown a criminal underworld where, if you are connected, many powerful people know who you are and show you respect. John Wick was connected but he got out. He is the rare killer who has found peace, and he is grateful for that peace. Some young kids steal that from him and he does what he does best, he wages a one man war against the Russian Mafia. It might sound like the film takes quite a leap but it all makes sense. The motives of John and the people who get in the way of his bullets are all very clear, even if it does come across as rather simple. That's the plot at it's most basic. Then there's the action. The film is directed by Reeve's stuntman from The Matrix, so this guy knows action. There are sequences that flow so smoothly it puts other action films and their quick cuts to shame. Keaunu moves so fluidly throughout the film and comes across as such a natural that the only disappointment is that we have not seen him like this before. Along the way are plenty of character actors, fans of The Matrix and The Wire will recognize a few people then there are more obvious ones like Ian McShane and Willem Dafoe. Everyone seems to be having a good time. That is another plus for this movie. It get's dark at times but overall it is quite fun, not very chipper, but fun. I cannot recommend this movie enough. I believe it is a must see for action fans and for anyone looking for something a bit different from the usual fare :)… Expand

Absolute fun. It's perfect for Keanu Reeves and the pacing is outstanding. Yeah, the plot is simple but every character is fun and there's just so much awesome to be experienced. Keanu Reeves is the latest in a long list of stars to play the man of few words with a lot of action (Clint Eastwood, Bruce Willis, Liam Neeson, Jason Stathom, etc). The plot is razor thin, someone does him wrong and he seeks revenge. All the costars seem to be having fun in their roles as well. Since it is the first Keanu Reeves success in a while I would think they will make a franchise out of it. Oh dear, its another film with Keanu (one expression) Reeves.
Scratch that, this film is quality, yes, Mr Reeves has moved on from one expression, he now does two! Sad or Sadder, either way, they fit his character perfectly.

Criminal hitman (what other type is there, oh, maybe government hitman, cos their legal right?) who renounces his evil ways due to falling in love.......zzzzzzzzzz (yes, I know, wake up!), who gets forced back into the murky underworld as .... I wont spoil it - but its the best reason ever to start killing people again.
Acting is as you would expect it from all involved. Some very wooden scenes played by very plastic actors built around some pretty impressive sets and great soundtrack. Cant wait to get this on Blu-Ray simply to watch the club scene on full blast. Very atmospheric would recommend to anyone who likes bang bang, kill kill, boom boom kind of films.
if you are looking for intelligence, stay away - this script has been done a thousand times (apart from the main reason for him digging up his old ways) - if you are looking for that comforting film equivalent of hand to mouth action that popcorn provides, this film is for you.

Whilst the premise is absurd, the movie manages to (somehow) convincingly pull it off. A man's dog is slam dunked and he goes on a rampage. Slick is an overused term, but this film fits it. If you are hoping to find a Matrix knock off this is not it. If you are hoping to find a deep original movie, this is not it. If you just want a fun action flick to kill a couple of hours, this is it.

I think if you watch this for what it is, just entertainment, you will enjoy it. Reeves delivered the tough reserved killer role. I am sure his training for the Matrix helped a ton in making him a great fit for this.

The action is graphic. I appreciated the little touches, such as showing him take extra shots to make sure his enemies are dead. Naturally, the physics get pushed to unreal levels at times, but not as bad as many films have done.

If actions films is what you love, this is well worth watching. If you are not big on violence, you may want to skip this.… Expand

His tale follows the known formula of one assassin returning to his old life, but what makes John Wick stands out is how vibrant and exciting the movie portrays him. From the nuance, visual and audio, everything looks like enhanced virtual reality or a very polished video game. Keanu Reeves struts with every bone breaking moves he makes, and without a doubt delivering his best performance in years.

Keanu Reeves, despite having impressive resume, might not be the most dynamic actor. He doesn't transform himself in every role, like say, Tom Cruise. However, with good direction and material, both are present in this movie, he will perform amazingly. This is one of Reeves' best roles aside from his in Matrix and Speed, he brings the air of confidence along with hidden yet excessive violence. Reeves display a good emotion as the character, and he also moves with certainty like a hitman would. There is expert use of close quarter combat technique with multitude of fire arms and knowledge of martial arts for the foundation of the character. Although it is heavily brimmed with action elements, John Wick is also equipped with a bit of emotional baggage. From ancient time, the loss of loved one is an acceptable motive for incoming rampage.

The movie is exhibited with flair, its use of color is simply impressive. Every set piece is done with meticulous vivid visual. The camera angle makes it as though the world of John Wick is seen in different light, almost in the setting of enhanced modern noir. Each action is choreographed meticulously and it's a paramount aspect to make him believable as a lethal force. One of the best things about the action is how the fast pace can be captured with precision. Oftentimes movie employs shaky camera or highly uncoordinated editing. This movie manages to display action with clear focus and crisp movements, even at more crowded setting it never relents or overload the viewer with too much visual information.

Soundtracks help a lot with solemn tone and faster techno rhythm. It's probably one of the best soundtracks of this year, rivaling Hans Zimmerman's from The Amazing Spider-Man 2. There are not many action movies with this high of production value, it certainly packs enough fiery punch to leave a scorch mark for sequel, I won't be surprised if there's even a video game of it. With no Bond, Hunt or Bourne in sight, this may be the time for John Wick.… Expand

Their direction is assured, especially for a debut. A beautifully shot and crafted action thriller, this film shows it is not just a dog. It is what the dog represents, especially for Mr. Wick. The backstory is great, as is the world created by the film. I cannot wait for the sequel now, just to see more of this world of crime and its various characters. Keanu Reeves is great, as is Michael Nyqvist. John Leguizamo and Ian McShane have small roles here, but I enjoyed their performances all the same. Additionally, Willem Defoe is very good. Overall, John Wick is a menacing little action thriller that hits all the right notes and is thoroughly captivating.… Expand

You never feel that the bad guys are ever so intense and threatening that you are really put off by them. You don't ever feel the need for that cathartic boss kill when it's all over. The director does a nice job of establishing the legend of John Wick and just how important he is. And the world of the hitman including all of the ancillary services such as the cleaning services the the hitman hotel and the gold coin currency all lend the film a degree of authenticity that seems to be lacking in other big budget films this year.… Expand

Please leave any scepticism about this film you had behind you as this film is possibly my favourite action film of 2014.
The premise is pretty idiotic, but it doesn’t matter at all as this film is fully self-aware, playing out stylisticallyPlease leave any scepticism about this film you had behind you as this film is possibly my favourite action film of 2014.
The premise is pretty idiotic, but it doesn’t matter at all as this film is fully self-aware, playing out stylistically like a videogame merged with an action film.
The choreography alone is impressive enough to make you watch this action romp but with nice subtle touches of foreshadowing and imagery throughout John Wick justifies itself as being an impressive action film.
The action sequences are explosive and the stylised violence really gets you fully immersed in the visceral carnage on screen; and these action scenes are absolute carnage. The night club scene in this film is one of the best action sequences I’ve seen in years.
Keanu Reeve’s is also back on form mastering not only the same deadpan kind of fighting style as he had in films like the Matrix but also adopting legitimate styles of shooting to make these somewhat video game-like action sequences feel to a certain extent realistic.
Also, the hitman/mafia kind of secret society club is a lovely touch and is actually a really interesting addition to the film that I would love to see them delve into more.
The film also has a few comedic moments that really make this film feel genuinely refreshing against all the rehashed action franchises we have rivalling this like Fast & Furious and The Transporter, etc.
However, my main and only problem I have with this film is probably the fact the film is dragged out a bit towards the in, being probably about 15 minutes too long. I wasn’t as interested or engaged in the last portion of the film and it is a kind of underwhelming finale bearing in mind some of the incredible action sequences before. It’s not bad just a bit too long and disappointing.
All in all, John Wick is a breath of fresh air we should all take in.

"Don't set him off." After you see John Wick, you'll be saying to yourself, "Yeah, NO SH*T!" to this movie's tagline. Why? The short answer is this: Keanu Reeves, and the movie as a whole, kick some serious ass in this exciting, visceral,"Don't set him off." After you see John Wick, you'll be saying to yourself, "Yeah, NO SH*T!" to this movie's tagline. Why? The short answer is this: Keanu Reeves, and the movie as a whole, kick some serious ass in this exciting, visceral, entertaining revenge flick. I feel I need to talk about this portion of the movie first; the elephant in the room: the way the action is shot and framed is graceful in the best violent way possible. The action moves along at a quick pace, which compliments it even more, and mixes in just the right amount of bloody brutality. Plus, for Keanu Reeves to be doing it, it's even MORE FUN to watch. But he doesn't just shoot his way through just to get his paycheck. He is great as John Wick, and his very best parts here are when he gives speeches about what drove him to do all this. In terms of plot, there isn't exactly a big amount of imagination, but other good elements make up for that. The main plot is this: John Wick's wife dies and for him to keep living his life with someone, his wife's dying gift to him is a cute lil' pup. However, Russian criminals come and kill his dog, then steal his Mustang. And that is a helluva misstep made by the Russians. John Wick then goes on for revenge. See? Not a whole lotta imagination or complexity, but what made up for it is the world-building that the film does. John Wick is a character that can definitely be expanded on and probably will. The "Continental" in the film is a criminal's hotel where they do their work and enjoyment. This can and probably will be expanded on, too. Let's talk about characters. The main villain here is Viggo Tarasov played by Michael Nyqvist, and I thought he played his role just as good as Keanu Reeves. I personally like villains that are likeable just as much as ones that aren't at all, and his character melds that together seemingly perfectly. Willam Dafoe and Adrianne Palicki were pretty good. All the others were just good. John Wick is a damn good example of why I love action movies, and is a fun-and-good-ass time.… Expand

The pacing is pretty good, the action is excellent and it never over stays its welcome coming in a 101 minutes. The actors deliver pretty decent performances. It’s the exact film I needed to see after the last two reviews I had done!! However, I am in no mad rush to return to this film and I think I possibly might have enjoyed it more if the hype hadn’t built it up and if I had seen this before Kingsman. A sequel has already been announced, but I came out of the Cinema thinking that I think this film would work better as a solo film and I am slightly concerned that it will become like the ‘Taken’ movies where they would have been better staying as ‘one film’!!… Expand

The Good: Keanu Reeves makes his return to the action genre, and what a return it is. Well choreographed and wildly entertaining, "John Wick" is one of the better action flicks of 2014. Reeves excels as a retired hitman who just can't seem to stay away from his previous life. Assisting Reeves is a very solid supporting cast (Dean Winters, Ian McShane, Willem Dafoe, and Micheal Nyqvist turn in especially entertaining performances) that add just enough action, drama, and humor to create a well-rounded film.

The Bad: The premise is a little silly at times. It clearly didn't ruin the film, but it did take away from it somewhat. As expected for this sort of film, it does degenerate a tad into standard fare and some aspects of the ending where a little underwhelming.… Expand

Maybe this film isn't terribly original, or maybe you never really completely worry about all the characters's faith, but this is one of the best action movies of 2014. Everything is done right. The movie places really well how bad-ass is the main character, having everyone fearing him. Every gunfire in it looks completely realistic, you are never going to note something that looks fake, and you are not going to feel bored during the entire runtime, and Keanu Reeves is just excellent as an actor. Maybe there are some cliches, and maybe the movie doesn't have the best lightning, but nobody cares about that when they are watching really nice, exciting, realistic action sequences. I repeat, one of the best action movies of 2014.… Expand

This movie was definitely a suprise. I've not been a massive fan of Keanu Reeves for a long time, but this has changed that. Смело могу сказат что фильм Джон Уик (John Wick) является одним из лучших боевиков категории Б ( B movie),но к сожалению фильм не сыскал большой популярности у зрителей и остался в тени других более высокобюджетных картин.

Кратко о сюжете.
Джон Уик(кто бы сомневался) мстит русской мафии за убийсттво собачки- прощального подарка его покойной жены..А вот кто, зачем и почему вы пожалуй узнайте из самого фильма,ибо я не хочу спойлерить.

Вот чем мне особенно понравился фильм так это режиссерской и операторской работой.Благодаря Чад Стахелски, Дэвид Литч и Джонатан Села история рассказываемая в фильме не кажется бональной и блеклой. Также отдельного внимания достойны отлично поставленные бои ( чего только стоит сцена на 49 минуте)
Музыка
Да что тут говорить композиции от Tyler Bates & Joel J Richard и Kaleida шикарно подходят к фильму.

Персонажи
Джон Уик-первоклассный, расчетливый наемный убийца, но не лишенный человечности. Могу сказать то что харизма да и просто крутость из него так и прёт.Вообщем то Киану сыграл свою роль на славу
Маркус(Уиллем Дефо)-Улья Дефо сыграл Ульяма Дефо.Ну ладно давайте серьезно).По началу он будет вам казаться скользким типом,но внешнасть обманчева.
Виго Тарасов(Михаэль Нюквист)-самый главныЙ плахой русский поведение которого говорит об одном: "я всего добился сам, а вы тут вообще никто".
Иосиф Тарасов(Альфи Аллен)-папиньки сынок- мажорик,да и просто мгхазь( все как положенно)
Перкинс(Эдрианн Палики)-просто подлая гадина( это я сейчас не про актрису а про персонажа если что).
Итог
В итоге получился добротный,мрачный и самое главное стильный боевик. С клишированными, но от того не менее харизматичными персонажами. В своё оправдание скажу что о фильме я рассказал так мало потому что акцент в нем сделан на экшен составляющую

Il y a du Commando dans ce John Wick, oui le fameux Commando de Schwarzy, le film d'action pop-corn typique des années 80... Bien sûr, ce nouveau John n'égale tout de même pas l'autre (John... Bien sûr, ce nouveau John n'égale tout de même pas l'autre (John... Matrix, quelle ironie au fait !) mais ce côté sardonique des situations et quelques répliques pince-sans-rire font de John Wick un sérieux client...

Alors le clébard, puis la bagnole, cela ne semble pas porter à conséquence mais il faut voir le contexte évoqué dans le film, éventuellement sujet à dérapage(s), puis une chose en entraînant une autre, une escalade imprévue des évènements... L'occasion en tout cas pour Keanu Reeves de rebondir avec à-propos dans ce rôle peu amène et certainement soupe au lait, ce qui dans le cas d'un tueur professionnel mène à un défilé de macabés... jubilatoire.

Le film démarre un peu trop lentement mais dérape ensuite lourdement dans la violence énervée, alignant les scènes avec un entrain et un rythme très appréciables. Fort bien filmé (ce qui devient incroyablement rare de nos jours) ce John Wick est un divertissement de grande qualité, même si on peut regretter ce sang en images de synthèse (le choix de la facilité !).… Expand

Who would've thought a movie about someone taking revenge for their dog, would lead to one of the best action franchises of all time?

Rewatching the first one after all this time, John Wick isn't as badass here as he is in later entries. HeWho would've thought a movie about someone taking revenge for their dog, would lead to one of the best action franchises of all time?

Rewatching the first one after all this time, John Wick isn't as badass here as he is in later entries. He survives a lot because the antagonist don't simply kill him or because his friend saves him. It also ends weirdly with a one on one fight with an old man.

Nevertheless, it is still a terrific action movie with memorable action sequences such as the house and the club shoot-out. Keanu was also a great casting choice!

This should be a template for how to make a great action movie!… Expand

I mean, think about it, if you were to listen to a pitch for a movie that was based around a former assassin who goes on a killing spree because his dog got killed...you probably wouldn'tJohn Wick could have easily have been a bad movie. I mean, think about it, if you were to listen to a pitch for a movie that was based around a former assassin who goes on a killing spree because his dog got killed...you probably wouldn't have high hopes for the movie. But, John Wick is about as good as it could possibly be. The action sequences are simply some of the most entertaining I've seen in the many movies I've seen. The world itself is also very interesting, and I'm looking forward to seeing the spinoff TV show about the hotel if it ever comes to fruition. There are some cheesy moments, and the story is pretty typical for an action film in the end, but it blew away my expectations when I saw it back in 2014 and I still enjoy watching it to this day.… Expand

I love the John Wick series. Whether it's because Keanu Reeves plays here, which is my favorite actor, or because it's just that the action scenes from this series have no competition for me. Who cares about a plot.
This movie is solely about action and how much you can squeeze into a run time of 101 minutes.

Какой то чел все заруинил, тут и начинается собственно фильм, экшен перестрелки, дальше нас знакомят с некоторыми персонажами, друзья (даже у убийцы могут быть друзья), знакомые. Потом был момент, который когда один персонаж поступил очень глупо, и сам Джон это говорит, а потом в 3 по моему фильме, сам совершает эту глупость, забавно.
Фильм представляется собой экшен боевик, и это неплохо, сцены на высоте и все реально, на периодически напоминают, что Уик тоже человек, и получает травмы, и еще пару сцен где его чуть ли не убивают, если бы не обстоятельства.
Так же чуть тема семьи проскальзывает, ибо потерять все из-за ошибки родственника родного, прям сильно, но и ничего не делать, тоже не выход, совесть замучает, и тут можно понять и главного злодея.
Итог: Хороший боевик категории B, что я понял посмотрев фильм, что месть блюда которое подают холодным, животные невиноваты.… Expand

I can accept the fact that John Wick has supernaturally fast reflexes and a crack aim, but the CQQ fighting didn't seem plausible. Lots of beating up henchmen twice his size; he got away with it in the Matrix as it wasn't reality. Here? John Wick is fun and exciting to be sure but it's not without its flaws. As an action movie it delivers with astonishingly choreographed fight scenes, stylish visuals, and a cool main character. As an action movie it delivers with astonishingly choreographed fight scenes, stylish visuals, and a cool main character. If that was everything a movie needed it would be close to perfect but John Wick also has a strange breed of stupidity running through its veins. This manifests itself in cartoonish characters, a last act that goes a little too far over the top and an overplayed song ("killin strangers"). Luckily though the movie knows very well that it's just a fun, well put together B movie. It never takes itself too seriously and this helps it make it past some of its more clichéd and dimwitted aspects. Keanu isn't what any respectable film buff would call a truly good actor but he fits perfectly into this role and even on occasion gets a scarily focused look in his eyes when he's taking out the trash. On a side note, if the last act of the movie would have stayed closer in tone and style to the incredible club scenes it would probably have fared even better. As is it's fun and I'm looking forward to the sequel.… Expand

Workmate told me John Wick is like "Shoot them up" kind of movie. That's true but it's a little bit mild. Entertaining and i like their style. Shoot them with nice suits, overall the movie is just so so.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Some of the acting and fight scenes in this were... kinda comical? Or maybe the word I'm looking for is "realistic". It's not *all* about punches and kicks that sound like a small explosion is going off every time they happen, and there's often random pauses in the middle of each battle -- all of this is fairly similar to how it would happen in real life I think. Reminds me of the end fight scene in the movie "Taxi Driver", initially it looked like erratic, odd, sub-par acting, but in fact it was likely orchestrated like that to make it seem real. Guess we've all just gotten too used to the Micheal Bay-eske explosions and stuff. Although the acting & fighting was still great.

Like when the main antagonist's father's henchman (don't know his name) says "Russian c**ksucker" then falls on his ass when leaving the car! Or how the farther alternates between the serious personality, and the flippant one, the latter which probably highlights how 'ridiculous' it is that John is trying to kill him apparently for the sake of it it seems. The movie doesn't take itself too seriously.

Not to mention the fact that 3/4 of the movie/plot involves a constant manhunt between the protagonist, and the antagonist; the remaining 1/4 was pretty much witty one liners... The movie in general was constant fight scenes -- does that mean the plot was weak, or is that what they were going for? Not sure. Lots of action, but lacked a clear start, middle, and end -- it seemed like it was over so quickly.

Overall I liked it, but it left me wanting something more.… Expand

Action, action and more action, frankly the story is not the most interesting of this movie, what is interesting and important is to see the work perfectly executed in all its action sequences.

Very stylish film with good close combat action sequences (and some vehicle action). Villain is made to be fairly realistic and mortal, more so than John Wick, which is a nice change as these types of films often make the villains seem unrealistically bad. There's subtle dark humor mixed in throughout the film. Negatives, biggest is the large contrast of dialogue volume to music and sound effects, at least on a standard TV (may be better with an external sound system). You will need the remote, trust me. You also just have to accept it's unrealistic like many action films with the main character seeming to be invincible (though constantly getting beat up and seeming on the verge of death). The premise is borderline absurd though it's likely intentional, that he takes down a massive NYC crime mob all on his own because the son of the mob leader killed his dog and stole his car (why is explained as the film goes on, trying to avoid spoilers here). Could use more variety in the action, most of it is indoor gun shootouts, him versus 50 mob people several times (how big is this mob anyway? law enforcement has really failed if they've allowed something this big to develop). His dialogue is intentionally minimal but when he does speak, sometimes it comes off a bit corny and he has one mood / demeanor the entire film with a few exceptions (again, that likely isn't an oversight but what they wanted). Soundtrack is okay, may have been better without some of the alt-rock songs, not sure.… Expand

The first thing he does, though, is not attempt to ease his wounds, but rather take out his phone and watch a video of a girl on the beach. We later learn that was his wife, which died from an incurable disease and the man in question is probably one of the most feared and respected hitmen.

The premise of this film is that his wife leaves him a dog as present for him which is killed by a naive mobster's son just for fun so he can steal Wick's car. After that, we have the classic hero looking for revenge. But unlike most films, 'John Wick' offers a fresh premise, with the dog representing the last thing left for him by his wife, almost like a child, if you wish. More so, it offers some brilliantly directed and choreographed action scenes which flow perfectly and a soundtrack which is booming and dangerous.

So, this is a pretty cool film. It has the makings of greatness, but unfortunately there are some issues in controlling these elements. First of all, there are occasional awkward pacing issues, and also sometimes the film ditches its somber soundtrack for generic 'cool' pop-rock singles which are inappropriate. The character of John Wick himself is rather dull and emotionless (apart for his feelings of sadness and vengeance) although I tend to believe this was done on purpose. What is better is the way in which the main villain, mob leader Viggo Tarasov (Michael Nyqvist) is presented. He develops a fascination for Wick and his skills and determination, even though sometimes he seems a bit cartoonish.

Another great thing is the way in which John Wick is referred to as an unstoppable and feared hitman, almost like a supernatural being. The action scenes though, are perfectly balanced, realistic and by the end of the film Wick is bruised and beaten... but he survives. It is this perseverance which makes him truly powerful, but more so, he seems to be the only man which has true friends in the cold Mafia underworld, like Marcus (Willem Dafoe) who had many chances of killing him but could not do it.

In the end, 'John Wick' is a slick, dark and stylish action flick which despite a few awkward and overly dramatized moments offers one of the best, brutal and elegant fighting dynamics.… Expand

Since "The Matrix", when was the last time you saw Keanu Reeves kicking so much ass? "John Wick" is an exciting and stylistic action-packed movie, one that turned out to be a lot better than everyone thought it would be.

Devo também mencionar a direção de arte. A caracterização da "organização de assassinos" tá fantástica, desde o lugar frequentado por eles ao modus operandi. As cores dão uma atmosfera unica, e junto ao figurino demonstram um resultado singular. Keanu Reeves é um mestre em filmes do tipo, e sua experiencia com artes marciais e armamento falam por si só. Willem Dafoe aparece pouco, mas sua presença sempre chama atenção. Michael Nyqvist também faz um bom trabalho.

John frequently causes massacres depopulating entire city-blocks and it's mostly nodded off with a witty one-liner, that's fine one or two times, but it's seen multiple times throughout the entire movie.
Still better than any Fast, Furious, or otherwise stathamy movie these days and Keanu Reeves definitely carries the entire thing.… Expand

Believe it or not, a lot of thought has gone into the construction of this tale of atonement; everything from setting up value, leaving key details ambiguous, and a very astute script; one which absolutely adds weight to the esteem of the titular character. “John Wick” is not your average shoot-em-up, and it’s no surprise that the series has continued success. Direction of “John Wick” has wisely been kept in the capable hands of Chad Stahelski, and its future may very well hinge on it. Producers sticking their crooked noses into development of Hollywood material is nothing new, but in the case of this series, Basil Iwanyk and his peers either know better or do so discretely. Derek Kolstad was already a successful screenwriter before this film, and his talent is notable. In the script: when a policeman comes knocking on Wick’s door and notices commotion, your typical, horrible, Hollywood screenwriter would have had the man get involved immediately. A decent writer, instead, would have had the officer simply offer help. Kolstad goes beyond any typical thinking and has the policeman recognize Wick and immediately bow out! The absolute brilliance of this take cannot be understated, as writing this simple moment cements in the viewer the depth of respect Wick has achieved in his profession. Similarly, when Aurelio, at the car shop, notices something is wrong, he doesn’t reveal the details of the issue to Iosef Tarasov; any average writer would be itching to splurge all the minutiae to the audience immediately. Kolstad, instead, withholds information, enriching his characters and deepening the value of the screenplay. A host of colorful characters, sudden twists and turns in the story and all the trappings of flawless Hollywood combine to make “John Wick” an American action classic.… Expand

Worth the entertainment. Reminded me of an early Jet Li or Kill Bill type of revenge-ninja movie.
Pretty much a revenge movie for dog lovers. Action was good at times, okay at others. Minor variations of blood/gore/shooting kills.

This was a great action flick. Not an all time favorite however. As i love to watch great movies over and over; i usually base my score on whether a movie has enough merit to watch again. Hard nut man crawls out from his hole to kill bad guys who killed his dog - his dead wife's last gift. I even predicted he'd find another dog :( There were no twists, no new age story line nothing just the same old kick ass story. Not that it was bad, by all means its definitely worth watching. Its exciting! I just expected a little more story intrigue.… Expand
