In my opinion, this series is pretty safe. He can do action scenes and that's the main thing for me and I was entertained the whole movie. Add to the fighting and shooting a hilarious soundtrack and the fun was taken care of. I've heard a bit of criticism about the length, but I was fine with it. I wasn't bored for a moment. I also praise the surprise ending. I thought the fourth episode was very good. But after some thought, I'm still leaning towards the third one, which charmed me with its action a bit more than here. The locations were also great and I liked them a lot, but I will mention the third part again, which appealed to me more with its setting. I don't have much to add. John Wick is a luxury action series for me and probably always will be. The action is the main thing here for me and it succeeded this time and once again I praise the surprise ending. For me, a great film that I recommend to fans of the series or action genre enthusiasts. Expand

Like the previous John Wick films, the action sequences and set pieces are incredible and seamlessly shot. Much like the action, the cinematography--and camerawork in general--is also very well done, and the utilization of lighting in the film is some of the best I've seen in a while. However, I do think one or two of these previously mentioned action sequences may go on for a bit too long. I also don't think the movie really needed its nearly three hour runtime, but that viewpoint is certainly subjective. I do recommend watching John Wick: Chapter 4 when you get the chance. Even though the film is quite lengthy when compared to others in its genre, it still sets the standard for what an action movie should be. Expand

The cinematography is oscar worthy, the neo-noir genre has never looked better on the big screen as the bold and vibrant colours makes each scene of this film a bold underlined statement that what you are experiencing is something special.

The action choreography utilizies 100% of each and every set design used in the film to incorporate drama, thrill and also comedy. This movie has everything you could ever ask for - guns, knifes, nunchucks, katanas, martial arts, cars, flamethrowers, bare hands etc. The stuntwork is jaw-dropping and adrenaline inducing, specially a stunt that was performed on a staircase on the later half of the film, left me wondering how did the stunt coordinator get that Tom Cruise-level life threatening stunt greenlit.

But what truly makes this story special are the characters and the drama surrounding them as they manoeuvre their way through this twisted world of crime where each person is their only friend. There are a lot of new characters introduced and none of them feel throwaway as each and everyone of them bring something new and exciting to the table and moves the narrative forward. And the centre of this narrative, Keanu Reeves who plays John Wick, a loving husband proves once again why his contribution to this role will be remembered forever as something that revolutionalized action film-making.

This was the one of the most satisfying experience I ever had inside a movie theatre and it leaves you with the question that how many times are you going to return to experience this once in a lifetime masterclass in action film-making.

10/10 - John wick Chapter 4 is a a modern day classic

This is beautiful violence that's never been done on this level, even down to the finest details. Anyone who's ever done what he's doing in the movie, like martial arts, guns etc can truly appreciate the realness of everything. Since when have you seen nunchuks used like this in a movie? The action never gets boring and always keeps you on your toes. Usually movie quality drops as more are made, it's rare sequels are ever as good as the first but not with John Wick. Each movie just keeps getting better, they never lost sight what made the movie so great and why people keep coming back for more.

Let's hope the story continues.

John Wick 4 provides a cinema experience which boasts one of the most captivating and engaging stories that I have ever witnessed. Utterly and fully a time at the movies you will never forget. The already dazzling storyline is this time mixed with a suite of impeccably shot and staggeringly choreographed fight sequences. On the level of anything you've seen from this franchise and more. The scope is broadened to represent the full scale of what action films have to offer. Lengthy battle scenes somehow don't drag out a 3 hour long film, but only serve as to enhance this marvel of a gem of a picture that unreasonably locks you up in chains and takes you for a ride you can't escape. But even if you could, you wouldn't want to. This is a film you absolutely MUST see on the biggest screen possible. Expand

Many critics now hail it as "a work of pop cinema so blissfully, albeit brutally, entertaining that you come out of it feeling even more resentful of its multiplex neighbors for not making a similar effort." with some even comparing it to the Mad Max franchise, another critically-acclaimed action franchise. As always, due to the high bar set by its predecessors, it is always certain that one may harbor doubts if another sequel(a fourth one!) would be able to live up to the anticipation. It is especially true in an era of sequels, remakes, or spin-offs that fall short of the mark, to devastating consequences to the franchise.

I can say that JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 4, has not only lived but exceeded expectations(both personally and generally) in all aspects, especially its story. The continuation to John Wick 3, where John was found wounded and seeking revenge against his foes, the way how the story travels not only throughout the world but with also the characters, who are with complex personalities and motives that make you understand and even sympathize with the characters. Of course, there is the recurring cast of Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne, Ian McShane, and the late Lance Reddick(R.I.P). They once again seamlessly fit into their characters and continue to provide Oscar-worthy performances. This is a brief review(for now, the characters). I will be re-editing this with more about the cinematography, setting, and more details about the plot. Ps: This is for now not a spoilers review.

Congratulations everyone, that was truly a spectacular use of steps in an action movie, absolutely relentless and got lots of laughs in the cinema.

Picking up after John Wick: Parabellum ended and if you thought the story was over, you ain’t seen nothing yet. John Wick now uncovers a path to defeating The High Table. But to earn his freedom, he must first challenge a new enemy with an endless stream of powerful resources. Enter Bill Skarsgård as the Marquis de Gramont, a sneering, pouty bad guy dressed to kill. Returning characters include Laurence Fishburne, The Continental’s manager Winston (Ian McShane) and the concierge Charon, played of course by the late great Lance Reddick. New additions to the John Wick cast are Hiroyuki Sanada, Rina Sawayama and Donnie Yen. There’s also Scott Adkins who is playing a character that looks like a combination of Colin Farrell’s Penguin and Yarp from Hot Fuzz. A villain so cartoonish and over the top it’s hilarious. But it’s Donnie Yen’s character Caine that is perhaps the best performance in John Wick 4. As a blind assassin there was the obvious pitfall here to drift into Daredevil territory which in this context would not work at all but not only did his character have just the right amount of depth and backstory but they also made sure everything was plausible. Extremely cool, incredibly innovative and a thoroughly thrilling experience.

Without a doubt the stars of the latest addition to the John Wick franchise is the stunt department, the coordination and execution is absolutely flawless. John Wick goes above and beyond the call of duty for an action movie. It’s not just a generic sequel in a franchise, it’s far more than that because with each and every John Wick sequel, the universe is expanded. New and more ludicrous characters are introduced and most importantly the stunts are ramped up. The continually come up with more creative ideas, from killing someone with a pen, a book and even a horse. On paper these sound completely ridiculous, I mean how many different ways do cinema audiences want to see Keanu Reeves kill some bad guys? The answer is a lot. More and more because the John Wick franchise has grown and looking back it’s hard to imagine that it would take off the way it did. From a simple revenge story to the massive worldwide syndicate of assassins. Each more deadlier than the last but none more deadlier than Baba Yaga himself, the one and only John Wick (Keanu Reeves, for anyone new to the franchise).

Every time a new character gets introduced onscreen you know instantly how you should feel about them and you’re practically itching to see them get brutally murdered. Yes it’s completely over the top, of course you have to suspend belief here a little bit. Throughout all four movies there are of course scenes where you know people aren’t walking away from and bullet proof suits will only do so much. Yet if you’ve made it this far into the series then I’m going to go ahead and assume you don’t care about that. And yes it’s a long one this time, at nearly three hours it may feel a little too long for some people. I can’t say I felt that way, I was loving everything about it. There’s also an end credits scene which is a surprise for this franchise, so be sure to stick around for that.

Director Chad Stahelski saw the potential with John Wick and completely went over the top with it, the result being another fantastic action movie that has everything you want and more. The fight scenes are exceptional and there’s a lot other movies could learn from the John Wick franchise. It’s clear everyone is having a blast in the making of this movie. From the costumes, the music, the cinematography, lighting department, I could go on and on. I loved it and I haven’t even mentioned the Arc De Triomphe scene. Kudos to all involved in the latest and arguably the best in the franchise. This is cinema.

This movie is made for action movie fans and you feel that in every second of John Wick: Chapter 4. If you haven’t seen it yet then what are you waiting for? Movie buffs get into the cinema and enjoy this pure entertaining and skillfully crafted action flick. Highly recommended and a must see for all the Keanu Reeves and/or Donnie Yen fans.

Despite being the fourth movie in the franchise, it's clear that the filmmakers haven't run out of tricks, and the result is a movie that is as fresh and exciting as the first.

Keanu Reeves' portrayal of the world-weary assassin is masterful, with his weariness and struggles palpable throughout the film. The high stakes and increased death count make the character's journey even more intense, and Reeves rises to the challenge with ease.

The action sequences in John Wick: Chapter 4 are nothing short of spectacular. Each set piece is magnificently choreographed and shot, with a clear homage to classic martial-arts genres and Hollywood Westerns. The movie also manages to top everything that's come before in the franchise, with new and creative ways to keep the audience engaged.

It's also worth mentioning that the film is an absolute joy to watch in IMAX, with the immersive experience making the action sequences all the more thrilling.

While the weight of trying to top everything that's come before is not lost on the filmmakers, they rise to the challenge with elegance and creativity, delivering a movie that is both a homage to the classic action genre and a fresh addition to the franchise.

In short, John Wick: Chapter 4 is a killer night out at the movies. With an incredible performance from Keanu Reeves, stunning visuals, and non-stop action, it's a must-watch for fans of the series and anyone looking for an immersive and thrilling cinematic experience.

When John Wick first came out in 2014, it was one of the most surprising yet most enjoyable experiences I had. What is even more amazing is that the 2 sequels it got were also amazing! We are now on the 4th entry and the question is if it continues to maintain the quality it has so far.

Let's get the obvious out of the way, the action scenes are still absolutely amazing! One thing each entry in this franchise continues to do is to make the action bigger and crazier than the last. There are so many incredible actions set pieces with a roughly 30-minute action scene in Osaka with bows and swords, a stunning sequence in Paris with cars and traffic, a Hotel Miami style action sequence with overhead shots, and one of the best action sequences ever involving stairs. I give every single praise to the stunt people who worked on this as they take some very painful falls in this film. This entry is also the best-looking one in the franchise. The set design and cinematography are phenomenal. John Wick killing people has never looked as beautiful as it does here.

Keanu continues to be awesome as John Wick by still doing the action choreography at the age of 57. We get to see him fight with nunchucks and shoot goons while driving a car. Ian McShane, Lance Reddick (R.I.P) and Laurence Fishburne return as Winston, Charon and the Bowery King respectively. They're all still great but have a smaller role this time. There are many new supporting characters are great as well. Donnie Yen joins the franchise as Caine, a blind assassin, who is an old friend but now foe. Donnie Yen always gives his A-game and here is no exception with how he does action as a blind character makes him interesting to watch. Hiroyuki Sanada is Koji who is the manager of the Osaka Continental Hotel who is just a badass and cool guy, Rina Sawayama makes her acting debut as Akira and she does a good job in her small role with some good action as well. Shamier Anderson plays an assassin who tracks John Wick and he also does some great action. What they do with his character is interesting but the best thing is that he has a dog which makes him 100% better. Scott Adkins plays Kilia and he does a good job as a minor antagonist. The main antagonist, Marquis Vincent, is played by Bill Skarsgard and he does a great job of being hateable.

What Chapter 4 has over Chapters 2 and 3 is more emotional elements to the story. John Wick is deservingly angry after 3 but you also get to see him contemplate more about when this bloodshed will end. You see him question a lot of what he is doing and whether these conflicts that are bringing his friends into are worth it. Additionally, his relationship with Caine (Donnie Yen) adds some weight to the conflict by making close friends fight each other. The stakes in this film feel bigger as well. Some people complain about the 2-hour 45-minute runtime but the pacing never felt bad and the quieter moments are enjoyable too. If I had to give a negative then the only one, I can think of is the post-credit scene which dampens the ending a little bit.

Overall, what an outstanding film! It's insane to think that even on its 4th entry, this film continues to be entertaining and somehow still amazing! Director Chad Stahelski has made an extraordinary franchise and shows everyone in Hollywood, how to make an action movie. With the inclusion of a post-credit scene, I wonder if the plan is to make a new cinematic universe which worries me a bit. There are a lot of potential spinoff ideas such as a Caine (Donnie Yen) spinoff or a Tracker spinoff (Shamier Anderson) or a spinoff with the John Wick 3 character Sofia (Halle Berry). Whatever they do, if it is the same quality as the John Wick movies, then I will be first in line to watch.

Characters John Wick 4 Wick 4 is the best film in the franchise both in terms of action and storytelling you learn a lot about the characters from the previous films and their development and goals the new ones all add new characters to this film wants you to hate some people at the beginning and then by the end you sympathise with them and understand why they do what they do John Wick clearly has the most difficult and deadly challenge, he's ever faced in his life is to get out of this world and finally be a free man, and he'll do anything to do that, even if it means killing his way through the streets of Berlin, Osaka or even Paris in front of everyone who passes by. Bill Skarsgård is great as the antagonist who drives the action and around whom the film revolves Scott Adkins unfortunately didn't get a major role in the film, but the little time he did get was memorable and showed Boyka's fighting spirit, which was impressive Lance Reddick (R.I. P) didn't get much screen time in the nearly 3 hour film, he could have gotten more time because of the previous episodes Hiroyuki Sanada's performance wasn't bad either, it was expected that he would be a supporting character but he was perfectly fine, talk about the action scenes were much more brutal than in the previous episodes and more spectacular the gun sounds were pure life like literally firing right next to you but still the hand to hand combat was the best action scenes in the movie and there were the biggest The blades and all the other hand to hand combat scenes tools looked absolutely amazing in the movie All credit to the actors and stuntmen The music was again impeccably done, whether it be rock techno or even the iconic melodies from the symphonies of the previous episodes, which gives a very good nostalgic feeling thanks to Tyler Bates who scored the previous episodes Overall, John Wick 4 surpasses its predecessors in every way and is the best action movie I've recommended in recent years to anyone- John Wick 4 to anyone? TheWhat a movie…I was graced with a cinematic masterpiece that balances aristocratic civility with spectacular video game-like violence. It was a visually stunning joy ride, as each scene unfolds like a carefully crafted work of art. The lighting and diverse locations perfectly complement the jaw-dropping action sequences, making John Wick Chapter 4 a true sensory marvel. While I had to suspend disbelief and buy in to the fact that this is despite what characters say, consequences are variable in the world of John Wick. This did add a certain delightful quality when normals rules didn’t apply, it didn’t feel out of place - given Wicks journey so far, little would by the time you sit down for chapter 4.

Highlights for me include the confrontation scene in Osaka, everything involving Caine, Killa, and of course that staircase. Certainly sets a high bar for cinematography in the next award seasons, it is tremendously impressive work. For me this was the best action movie I’ve ever seen, top class! As action goes I have felt in recent times that this genre needed more substance, and this brought it in droves and body bags, action doesn’t get much better than John Wick 4. Go see this!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I was anticipating this movie since last year. I enjoyed the first three and figured these filmmakers could do no wrong. Apparently, they can. Ultimately, the story makes little sense. The Tracker character came out of no where and has a dog that attacks balls. That's it. As a further insult to the Halle Berry character from #3, the dog pees on a victim's face. What?? John Wick apparently can continually fall off a tall building onto the concrete and still fight a mob. What the??

At what point did the filmmakers assume the audience was this stupid? To further complicate the issue, John Wick apparently has run out of attack moves and keeps doing the same choreography in his kills. I was bored seeing John Wick fight and it pains me to write that.

There were some bright spots in the film. Donnie Yen always rocks and the overhead scene featuring the dragon's breath slug was an amazing concept. However, this movie, overall, was not a good movie. I wouldn't be surprised if some studio exec walked onto Stahelski's set and said "We need more.. bigger, badder, etc." The franchise was already great, why mess it up?

I do think this movie is worth checking out for fans of the series, but I simply can't agree with everyone else's great reviews after this 3 hour mess.

The first movie was great / love Keanu... BUT - It's bloated and lost its way, it's way too long, the action is good, but not 2hours 49 mins good.

The lore feels worn and uninteresting.

It's a product of diminishing returns yet extended run times.

A fitting tribute to the legend of Baba Yaga
Reeves' frankly magnificent return as an action star with John Wick' (2014) deserved an equally epic fourth installment. Director Chad Stahelski, cinematographer Dan Laustsen and an army of stunt choreographers have crafted a crazy good action film. Some of the set pieces look humanly impossible to achieve, one of which involves Wick playing a real-life version of Crossy Road as he dukes it out with hitmen to survive in live traffic. At one point, the camera follows Wick as he drives literal circles around his opponents and shoots them down. Another set piece has Wick climbing over 200 stairs as he fights wave after wave of assassins. And yes, you guessed it right.
He tumbled down multiple flights of stairs, many many times. These amazing stunts are well-shot and brilliantly edited. A particular scene in a nightclub is especially memorable. Wick chases and beats an enemy down, as falling sheets of water soak him to the bone.

1) More invincible than an Avenger: is it the John Wick Cinematic Universe? Scifi, not action movie.
2) One killed per minute excluding titles: was there a record to break in the body count and was it so important?
3) If I was interested in choreography I would go to a dance show and not to a murders ballet. I hypothesize that an action cinema reduced to this single factor depends on the chronic lack of supporting scripts, even present in the best "Kill (Th)'em All". "The Matrix" saga still had one of Dickian thickness, while here the presumed adrenalinic crepuscular epicness of Reeves, Fishburne and the others is in fact the expressive one-dimensionality of the characters, simple silhouettes to break down.
4) Reeves is not Cruise, so his screen time is very low. The helmet of long and dirty hair has the function of not distinguishing him from the stunt doubles who take his place for most of the film. Keanu's face reappears after an editing cut at the end of all the more physically demanding scenes.
5) With Dante it only shares boredom, as already "Mad Max: Fury Road" (Miller 2015), and the quotationism adds nothing to me even when it is "The Warriors" (Walter Hill '79) or "Barry Lyndon" (Kubrick '75).

Fast forward 2023, our beloved assassin is back and the fourth chapter of the John Wick franchise is remarkable. If the Oscars does not recognize this film for any categories, I'll be so upset. This movie is amazing and the brilliant action sequences followed by a smart linear direction by Chad Stahelski is the best thing I've ever seen in film history. It's impossible to believe that Keanu Reeves still got it after taking big hits and risks to make this film so special. Everything about this film is amazing especially production design and cinematography standpoint. This is perhaps the best action quadrilogy ever made. Who knows what will the franchise take next? And we certainly know that Ana de Armas' John Wick spinoff Ballerina is certainly around the corner.

But what might I anticipate from a sequel whose central conceit is a man who survives both a gunshot and a 21-story fall? Please stop right here without trying any harder! Expand

Yet, I will start this review with some criticism. This flick is designed like a 'live version' of a videogame, and it has its structure: a mission, levels to go through and bosses for each sequences. Many times I feel like I am just spectating somebody playing a very elaborate, realistic video game, with cut scenes to boot. I found the film less engaging because of this. Yet I understood its popularity amongst millenialls and the younger crowds. It also shows Reeve's position as the number one action star of our generation. He redefined it back in the 90s with his matinee good looks with Speed and Point Break. Up the ante in the Matrix. And now changed it again for the video game loving generation like today in John Wick. Expand

The movie was just alright. The action scenes, at times, were overplayed and far-fetched; they got old after a while. It was somewhat entertaining, though. The first is the best by far. I give it a 7 out of 10.

There was at least 2 people snoring at my theater throughout the whole movie lol, it was pretty bad. Last 30 minutes were ok, but it was still hard to sit through because John is such an uncompelling character. No suspense or tension because, again, John is such a boring, 1 dimensional character with little to no development over the course of 4 movies. I'd take a generic 80s good guy action hero over this **** These movies are not for me, because even the action felt bland af. Very repetitive and uncreative, save for Donnie Yen's scenes. Camerawork was clean, but just amplified the imperfections in the choreography even more. If you liked the previous movies, you'll like this one, its more of the same. Expand

John Wick's saga reminds me inevitably of the Fast and Furious franchise. Since what was seen in their first installments is already very far from what is being done now.

I mean, John Wick was just an assassin. An awesome hitman, but in Chapter 4 he's an invincible dude who throws himself from the third floor of a mansion to the ground and doesn't even break a bone.

He takes bullets left and right and the only thing protecting him are his fancy suits. And not only that, in this installment he gets a villain who is basically Daredevil, blindness included.
Yes, it may appear absurd, but its genius is how it manages to make you believe it.

The real reason I'm giving it four stars is because while I don't think it was extraordinary, I do consider it superior to Parabellum and I gave that film 3 1/2 stars. Therefore it could only get a higher rating.

Chapter 4 has its problems, mostly in pacing. The action is still spectacular and believe me this is still the overwhelming reason for this franchise to exist and continue to be consumed.

Once the shooting starts, they rarely slow down. The last 35 minutes of it are basically a chase/gunfight that doesn't stop until it has to.
Plus there is a character that appears throughout the entire movie but they never make it clear who the **** he was or why he was doing what he was doing, so that was kinda disconcerting.

Unless they pull a huge ace out of their sleeve, Chapter 4 already seems to be the real finale, so go enjoy this action epic that has managed to exploit its strengths quite well over its weaknesses and that with each installment it grew without declining in quality.

Perhaps the scripts were a bit thin with all that mythology, but each installment justified its existence and John Wick Chapter 4 becomes the character's swan song and leaves with a bang.

***There is a small scene up to the end of the credits, but I'm not sure it will carry any real significance.
