After the first two movies I thought the action sequences couldn't get better but once again they prove me wrong and show more amazing continuous shots of all out brutal action. The story once again takes more of a back seat to the general high impact action of the movie however I don't believe you're watching this series of films for the plot more so the camera work and action shots, so whilst some stronger narrative may aid the film I don't at all think it is needed as the quality story present generally aids the outstanding action sequences. The best chapter so far. Keanu is perfection in this role. It's like watching a beautifully choreographed ballet.

Very rarely will the third chapter of a film franchise garner the best rating on IMDB or any other aggregate movie review website, for that matter. As far as film franchises go, most tend to drop off and just become cash cows that are createdVery rarely will the third chapter of a film franchise garner the best rating on IMDB or any other aggregate movie review website, for that matter. As far as film franchises go, most tend to drop off and just become cash cows that are created for the sake of making loads of money. The Transformers and Terminator franchises are a perfect example of this. Then there is John Wick: Chapter 3 and it has quite simply, broken all of the aforementioned rules and may have set a new standard. The plot is effectively laid out for you in the first ninety seconds of the movie. John Wick is excommunicated, and there's a $14m bounty on his head. Following that brief bit of exposition are two hours of endlessly entertaining action, and while the film does keep you engrossed with its sense of mystery and intrigue surrounding this world of allegiances and deception, it's the thrill of the chase that ultimately matters.

Parabellum maintains a rather cutthroat pace throughout, right from the frantic opening half hour through to the brutality of the final act. There's a lot more humor on show in this installment, which works due to how ludicrous some of the action has now become.

If you want depth, character development, and story-telling then go watch The Godfather. In a grade A action film, the pacing is more important than depth, the choreography is more important than character development and the story is only used to get the hero from one set-piece to the next. Parabellum is absolutely relentless in that it's ridiculous in the best ways while being loud and violent from start to finish. Chapter 3 feels like a celebration of the action genre, showing no franchise fatigue and referencing a number of great action films in the process, even a nod to the original action man, Buster Keaton, graces the film in its opening moments. The first two films delivered hard-hitting action but Parabellum takes it to a whole new level for the franchise, with books, horses and dogs playing a major part in doing so.

Suspend your disbelief and strap yourself in because John Wick is back in spectacular fashion. Over the course of three films, he's earned his place in the action hero hall of fame in a franchise that should be regarded as one of the greatest within the action genre.

It starts off with John getting ready to face consequences for his actions in the second film and the continuation of the story is certainly excellent for the most part; the reason I say the most part is because they added a new plot into this story but I will get to that. The action here remains excellent and is probably the best out of all of the movies due to it being bigger with way more enemies and they're more varied this time meaning John's on his toes far more often and the stakes are higher this time with the consequences of his actions from the second movie. The action is still top fun with these varied enemies getting more creative and even using a famous location in this movie as a warzone helping it feel more personal this time. The main cast remains as solid as ever although the newcomers are a little questionable since some are introduced and never brought back again but at least the performances they give are great. John Wick continues to remain an excellent protagonist and he's probably even better here with how he's going through even more s*** and he's getting beaten up some more yet he still stands tall and continues to beat his enemies to a pulp. But this film isn't without it's flaws and that main problem for me is the expanded lore. This movie introduces some brand new lore with a new government of sort that acts as a higher power over New York that acts as a severe threat to John and his friends throughout the film and it doesn't really work for me with how it was never established in the first 2 films although I am confident they'll make me take it more seriously in future movies but it doesn't cut it for me personally. Overall, even with the new lore and new characters not working for me personally, the rest of the movie as a whole is still amazing and I still recommend it if you haven't seen it and I can't wait to see what the fourth movie has in store for us. This time, Keanu Reeves is back with a $14 million bounty on his life, which brings a continuous stream of assassins trying to collect (and some silly business about the High Table). It continues with the absurdly high-body count and Reeves’ flat delivery, but seeks even additional ways to reek violence. Some of the scenes succeed (the dogs, horses and motorcycles), but almost every fight seems to go on longer than necessary. As a result, some of the stunts seem repetitive. Like previous incarnations, there are some snazzy locations. This non-stop rampage of killing features lots of well-staged action, which will satisfy Wick fans. Expand

Back when the original John Wick’s trailer came out most people expected that it would just be your run of the mill revenge movie starring Keanu Reeves, just with a dog. But then it ended up being one of the best action movies of the pastBack when the original John Wick’s trailer came out most people expected that it would just be your run of the mill revenge movie starring Keanu Reeves, just with a dog. But then it ended up being one of the best action movies of the past decade, showing us great fight sequences in film at a time when Liam Neeson was still learning how to jump over a fence in less than 15 different cuts. Then John Wick: Chapter 2 came out, further raising the bar with even more ambitious fight choreography and expanding on the world of assassins. Now John Wick 3 cements the franchise as one of the most consistently entertaining action trilogies.

Starting less than an hour after the previous film, John Wick is on the run after after being given a 14 million dollar bounty on his head for killing one of the leaders of the assassins organisation, which every assassin wants a piece of. And it turns out there are a lot of assassins in the world, as no matter where Wick goes he’s swarmed by opponents at every turn, including armored SWAT teams, the villains from the raid movies and the host of Iron Chef. In a film that’s mostly non-stop action, it never gets dull or repetitive. In large part, this is because the filmmakers have a strong understanding on how to incorporate their surroundings into the film to add variety to these sequences. Largely this is because John Wick is able to improvise with using anything as a weapon, with John using knives, guns, motorbikes, dogs, books, his belt, horses and his own fists to keep each fight unique. Other times it’s just a strong understanding of how to shoot the sequence to keep the sequences kinetic and visually interesting. At the centre of this is Keanu Reeves himself, who put months of training to pull off some of these unbelievable sequences. Though a lot of credit also has to go to everyone behind the scenes for pulling off so many ambitious sequences. Especially for one sequence which takes place in a room made almost entirely from glass which had me genuinely wondering how they were able to perform these sequences without anyone getting seriously injured. As with the previous two films, these brutally fight sequences are often contrasted with just how insane this world of assassins are. Just like the previous films, there aren’t any expository information dumps and instead we just get to see how this world operates and understand the characters history through the way they interact with one another. This time we get to see how the chain of leadership works and how separate factions have developed amongst these assassins. A big part of building up this world comes from the supporting cast being filled with memorable personalities. The villains aren’t just one note psychotic villains, but instead they have a genuine admiration for John Wick and even end up fanboying when they get the chance to fight him. Even smaller roles like Jason Mantzoukas as the Tick Tock Man leave a memorable impression with relatively little screen time. Though the best addition is definitely Halle Berry. She’s essentially playing the female version of John, having also escaped the life of an assassin and who also has a keen fondness for dogs. She apparently did several months of both combat training and dog training, which she’s able to show off throughout her scenes in a big way.

Also this film franchise has convinced me that at least a tenth of the population in these films must be a part of this organisation since that’s the only way this world could function as it does in the film, which just makes it all the more entertaining. The world itself is so well developed that I’d even be open to seeing some spin-off movies following other assassins like Halle Berry for future films. Though I’m still hoping to see more from Keanu in these films since it does seem like his ideal role and if these films continue the way that they’re going, I expect that John Wick Chapter 4 will end up containing the most ambitious sequences yet.

Now on the run from the likes of every person he once trusted and knew, John has to venture into the deepest recesses of his past in order to conquer the current mess he's found himself in. Like its predecessor, this is most certainly a step or two removed from the primal emotionality that fuelled the first film. But in that same vein, it's also a significant step up in terms of set piece work, fight choreography, and gunplay. Every skirmish, shooting, and chase is filled with brilliant mechanics and effect work. And to top it all off, it's framed and staged beautifully by a veteran stunt performer turned director with a visceral appreciation for the art of designing action. It's another terrific achievement in action filmmaking and it should be seen. Expand

Picking up very soon after John Wick Chapter 2 and John (Keanu Reeves) for anyone not familiar with this franchise, is on the run, excommunicado from the elite hitman’s guild and with a $14 million bounty on his head he is on absolutely everyone’s hit-list. What else do I have to say? You know what you’re getting with a John Wick movie and if you don’t have you been living under a rock? Get ready for the most over the top action movie you can handle. Mission Impossible and James Bond are one thing, they’ve got rules but John Wick has no rules, it’s all about the entertainment factor. John Wick, the legendary assassin who once killed a man with a pencil is back to kill even more people in more creative ways possible so settle down for 130 minutes of adrenaline fuelled madness.

And he’s back, more guns, more fights, more dogs, more blood, more everything. I remember seeing the first John Wick in the cinema, not expecting anything more than a generic action flick but it went beyond that. A simple revenge driven plot, with fight scenes expertly choreographed and filled to the brim with bone crunching action. And now with two more movies under his belt, John Wick is the franchise that keeps on giving. Endless ultra-violent fight scenes that will have you squirming in your seat. Everything so clear you don’t miss a thing, I can’t tell you how many action movies are ruined by bad camera work. Shaky-cam particularly to hide the violence, normally in favour of getting a lower age rating yes I’m looking at you Bourne 5. As soon as this happens I immediately lose interest but the John Wick franchise has raised the bar and increases the stakes with every movie. John Wick Chapter 3 brings everything to a new level. You don’t go to a John Wick movie for the acting, or the plausibility, for one thing a lot of the characters appear to be bullet proof, knife proof, sword proof. They’re borderline cartoon characters at this point but do we care? Hell no! We came to see Keanu Reeves kick ass and he certainly doesn’t disappoint. It doesn’t take itself too seriously but it’s everything a great action film should be and more because it’s Keanu Reeves that’s why. If I’m going to bother ranking these films I’d put John Wick Chapter 3 as not quite as good as the first one but better than the second. Highly recommended for all you Keanu fans out there.

“Every Action has a Consequence”
“He’s going to need guns. Lots of Guns”
Because John Wick Chapter 3 - Parabellum is,so far,the most fun you’ll have at the movies this Summer, and I truly mean it since this phrase was used for *insert early 2000 movie name here*. A third chapter that shares the same things a Set-Up Movie does, and makes those things enjoyable to watch:The fair share of villains, the big action sequences, lack of an actual story that is more used for exposition (although there’s really little to no exposition in this one…) and the ending that sets up a big universe or the next movie (intentionally done by director Chad Stahelski,so that Lionsgate can have its own “Marvel Cinematic Universe” of sorts. Especially with a Spin-Off show made by Amazon coming up).
As John Wick is now on the run from a malicious $14+ Million bid put up by The Continental Hotel,we see throughout the course of the movie that he is just a retired assassin who wants some rest, but can’t,because he always has to be on the loose.
Also,it’s not the big fat (and almost frustrating) Action Sequence that we had in Chapter 2. Sure, there’s action in it,but it never serves as a distraction from the main story.
And,as always, the amount of Camera work and Stunt work makes all those Action Sequences, once again, all the more enjoyable to watch, whether it’s John Wick throwing blades at the next person he meets or Halle Berry’s dogs murdering people while she shoots almost everything. They even make some fun advantages with the Horses in the movie, trust me. How disappointing that there was little of Keanu Reeves riding a horse while shooting people in the face.
Some of the villains and assistants, while threatening, can also be really funny to see on-screen and they make great advantage of them. I never knew I could hate a female villain just as much as how I hate Drago Bloodvist in HTTYD 2. Kudos,Derek Kolstad.
But OH HELL,if this movie has some big issues…
First off,I hate the action scene in Casablanca (the one with Halle Berry and the dogs). For as much enjoyable as it was,it was getting annoying really fast. How many henchmens are there?!? The whole Country?
And just like Chapter 2,the Action Sequences were almost as long, even if in this one they don’t take the spotlight too much. Somebody fire the guy who edited the trailers RIGHT NOW. Most of the 3rd Act is in that trailer and it’ll almost ruin the experience.
But overall,John Wick Chapter 3 is probably just as good,if not, great as the first John Wick, and it shares the title of “Best Set-Up Movie” alongside Spider-Man Into The Spider-Verse. The ending is something you don’t want to miss, believe me.

P.S. Man,so much for these Set-Up movies nowadays… I guess the lesson here is “Don’t trust Universal when making these kinds of movies”? If it’s that, then FANTASTIC! :-D

It has issues in the last 20 minutes as it seems like the writers struggled to find a way that makes sense for a sequel and Keanu looked just plain tired but overall it was a worthy successor.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is a John Wick movie, and it's exactly that. The movie starts with a action scene right away, because the movie picks up right after Johns excommunicado from previous movie due to him killing someone in the continental ground.
The underline plot of the movie is basically John looking for the "Elder" to get everyone to stop trying to kill him and the the other plot that is going the same time is that someone sent by the High-Table to kill everyone who was involved with the mess that John made. But this plot point is thrown under the boss on the last 3rd. Halle Berry was in the movie for some reason, but she wasn't bad the action scene with her was quite good.
But what falls face first is the last 3rd of the movie, which is located in New York's Continental where the High-Table has sent assassins and a small army who have "Plot armor" on which both blocks bullets and doesn't, but what was truly terrible was the assassin fights.
They dragged on and on, to the point of I got bored, while it was amazing but when it took so long and then right away next assassin fight started I got frustrated. None the less a good movie and the ending means there will be a John Wick 4 and maybe 5, where he is going to end the High-Table.

For a guy who had a reputation for being a little wooden in some of his movie roles, he deserves massive respect for this brilliant film that is at times breathless. The film looks beautiful with it's rain and neon lights and the film uses a good amount of humour for without it, the film would be as daft as Arnie in 'Commando'. I'm so glad I got to watch it on the big screen. Looking forward to John Wick 4. Keanu is totally bodacious, dude! Expand

The tension with the countdown and then it is an adrenaline rush of 20 minutes of non-stop action. John Wick 3 attempts different and creative types of action scenes compared to the second one. Something this entry also does differently is that it leans more on comedy. This is not just in the dialogue but in the action scenes as well. For example, a guy gets constantly hit into every single glass case. The dialogue doesn't feel very impactful and can be overly silly. John Wick makes an important decision that is undone in literally 10 minutes. It is also very cartoony compared to previous entries. We have characters that can seemingly teleport, full-armoured soldiers that barely flinch being shot at, and a guy that can survive falling from an entire building. Overall, still better than a majority of action movies and the action scenes are still enjoyable. In the end, isn't that why we watch John Wick? Expand

The franchise keeps getting better

Directed by stuntman turned director Chad Stahelski, and written by Derek Kolstad, Shay Hatten, Chris Collins, and Marc Abrams, John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum is the kind of film that is well aware of what it is; a completely over-the-top orgy of violence, wherein the endless deaths by gun, knife, fist, dog, horse, motorbike, sword, pencil, and book of 18th century Russian folklore, are so excessive as to transcend any possible accusations of glorifying violence. In short, the film leans into its status as basically a live-action episode of Itchy and Scratchy. Sure, it can become a little repetitive at times, and there's next to no plot or character development. But that's to ignore how aesthetically accomplished it is, how funny it is, how compelling it is, and how unapologetically entertaining it is.

Beginning moments after Chapter 2 ended, Parabellum opens with Wick (Keanu Reeves) attempting to flee New York with a $14 million contract on his head. Meanwhile, the High Table dispatch an Adjudicator (Asia Kate Dillon) to look into the unsanctioned help given to Wick by Winston (Ian McShane) and the Bowery King (Laurence Fishburne), whilst to lead the pursuit of Wick, she hires Zero (Mark Dacascos), who hates guns and is a huge Wick fanboy.

Firstly, Parabellum looks absolutely gorgeous. Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 both looked great, but Parabellum is in another class, particularly Dan Laustsen's lush and vibrant cinematography. In terms of the action, as with the first two films, Parabellum has obviously been influenced by The Raid and The Raid 2, two films which redefined action cinema by shunning frenetic editing in favour of longer takes that showcased physicality. You know that seizure-inducing scene in Taken when Mills jumps a fence, and there are literally 15 cuts in five seconds? There's none of that in Parabellum, with the audience allowed to focus on the organic progression of Jonathan Eusebio's magnificent combat choreography.

Both previous Wick films have been said to resemble video games in their visual design, and this is even more pronounced in Parabellum, not just in its aesthetic, but in some of its narrative beats. For example, each fight is harder than the last (i.e., the difficulty level increases). A scene in a stable where Wick uses a horse to take out two thugs is essentially an environmental assassination straight out of the Hitman franchise. There's a single driving level, and a non-combat level where Wick must reach his destination before dehydrating. To make it to the final battle, Wick must face down a platoon of heavily armoured soldiers, each of whom requires multiple hits before going down, whilst Wick himself has to pause for a weapon upgrade.

One of the reasons the original film stood out so much was the brilliance of Kolstad's world-building, wherein we were introduced to a fascinating underworld featuring an international Assassin's Guild, a hotel for assassins in which violence is prohibited, even an assassins' currency. In Chapter 2, he introduced the person who helped Wick retire, the High Table, blood markers, and the Bowery King. In Parabellum, we meet the Director (Angelica Houston), the Master of Coin (Jerome Flynn), the Elder (Saïd Taghmaoui), the adjudication process, excommunication, and deconsecration. The mythology has deepened with each film, with its old-world religious connotations becoming more elaborate.

Are there some problems? Well, any film this violent is going to have immediate detractors. But the thing is, the movie doesn't take itself too seriously, nor does it expect the audience to, so questions of irresponsibility are kind of a moot point - of course it's irresponsibly violent, it's supposed to be irresponsibly violent. Does it treat guns and knives fetishistically? Yes, to a certain extent it does. Is it celebrating guns and violence in a realistic socio-political manner? No, not at all.

Having said that, the violence can occasionally come across as meaningless insofar as it doesn't seem to have any ramifications for any of the main characters. Related to this disassociation, and simply by virtue of logistics, almost all of Wick's opponents are nameless and faceless extras. The narrative structure is also a little awkward, and on several occasions, decisions reached over the course of multiple scenes are simply undone a couple of scenes later.

This notwithstanding, I absolutely loved Parabellum. Easily the best in the franchise thus far, it's more ambitious, more ridiculous, more violent, and more entertaining. Sure, themes such as fealty, honour, and fate come and go without much engagement. But this is not what the film is about. Instead, Stahelski has crafted an action film that features extraordinary aesthetic elements and a wonderfully vibrant visual design. Parabellum doesn't just unapologetically revel in its excessive violence. It makes art out of its excessive violence.

The story in the third one gave me a feeling of repetition. The story of John Wick is not really moving forward. I love when action comes from characters. That's not always the case in PARABELLUM. Wick lacks depth as a character and when he reveals his motives - it feels forced but I do understand that the story is not king. Not in the case of John Wick Parabellum. I will still buy this on blu-ray. Creative action sequences without shaky cam effect and often cuts is something that I can't get enough of. Expand

-
There are many strengths in this universe being built around the name of John Wick, and even though the narrative exercise it's absorbed by its action, it's surprising the fact that the film achieves to build its way with punches and fights more than with words and "complex" speeches.
In this chapter, the public will continue as witnesses of John Wick and his road to freedom. This time he is willing to go to the tip of the ice-berg to negotiate his exit of that warlike society dedicated to organized crime.
Parabellum has enough to entertain and excite a wide public: The action sequences are clever, creative and, several times, hypnotizing; the dialogs are accurately decorated with poetic phrases about pain and glory; the photography and scenery are hard to ignore because of its attractiveness and impact; both Keanu Reeves and Halle Berry shows an incredible chemistry and a sparkle of energy, and, the most important, the intrigue in the story is increased by the introduction of more societies, artifacts, and characters. Nevertheless, even if the intrigue increases, all that information doesn't complement the understanding of that same universe. There are topics of high relevance with a sporadic treatment and situations of "little" importance that take "a lot" of time to resolve. Yes, the focus of this saga is to build high visual impact situations with realistic choreographies and technical flow, but even if we know that Wick wants to survive because he is being hunted, the film would increase the value of its narrative if it just would explain by who and why.

Parabellum doesn't even have a plot of its own: it's completely reliant on its predecessor. This really didn't bother me at all ـــــ at first.

The way this one picks up only moments from where Chapter 2 ended is just unbelievably great. I really couldn't have hoped, or imagined, for anything better. We get to be fully immersed into the fictional, and almost dystopian, crime world in a way that reminded me somehow of Blade Runner.

The action sequences are stylish, insanely brilliantly choreographed and, most importantly, have innovative ideas and execution. John Wick franchise no longer sets the bar high for other action films; it sets up new standards for how action sequences should be shot and choreographed.

Story-wise, though, this installment really disappointed me. As I mentioned above, all I asked for is an interesting story, be it a mere continuation of the last film or not. Unfortunately, the story here lacks everything that can make it intriguing. It's simply continuation to Chapter 2's with a rehash of storylines we saw thousand times in other action films to fill in the gaps. Moreover, Halle Berry's Sofia is almost an unnecessary addition to the film. I said almost because her dogs partly redeemed the presence of such useless, and even problematic, character.

Drama is definitely not what I expected to see; but with all the silliness in the original and its first sequel, I was, somehow, ـــ unlike here ـــ emotionally invested in the goings-on and concerned, somehow, about the protagonist. That said, Keanu Reeves is absolutely fantastic as ever. He never gives us let us think of his John Wick as the formidable and invincible hero, even if we are one hundred percent sure he would win at the end of the day.

All in all, John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum is a decent sequel that proves another excellent entry in the franchise, by further expanding upon this exceptional universe and taking even more risks regarding the action scenes and fight choreography.

Some lines of dialogue feel kind of weird. Asia Kate Dillon’s performance felt really wooden and she never showed a lot of emotion. There are sequences where John Wick and another character are talking and all of a sudden they start talking in a different language and then switch back to English. It does start to get annoying. My last problem would be that I think Halle Berry was way underused. Here are the positives. Keanu Reeves does a fantastic job. He has done an outstanding job in each of these films but he did a lot better in this one. Laurence Fishburne and Halle Berry also do a fantastic job. The rest of the supporting cast does a great job. The standout for all the John Wick movies is the action. It’s no different here. The action is awesome. It’s hard to believe that Keanu Reeves is actually doing all of these stunts. The John Wick movies are basically 2 hours of dumb fun action. Each fight scene has some sort of unique flare to it that makes the scene interesting to watch. The cinematography is pretty good in this film also. Each action scene is shot differently and it makes those scenes ten times cooler. There is a cool long take action scene on a bridge. The score for the film is good. It’s not outstanding, it’s just good. The story is interesting also. We get to learn a lot more about where John Wick learned to fight and it’s very interesting. There are a couple of jokes that did manage to get a chuckle or two out of me. The locations used in this film are really cool such as Casablanca and New York City. It’s good to see these different environments in this film. The film is paced really well and the tone remains consistent most of the time. Before you see this film, you must watch the first two John Wick films or you will be confused. Overall, John Wick Chapter 3 - Parabellum provides more hard hitting action with great acting and solid worldbuilding. I give John Wick Chapter 3 - Parabellum an 8/10. Expand

John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum proves that when a project is assigned to a person who is competent and has solid grasp over the related subject, the result will be of high quality and succeed no matter what.

Chad Stahelski and his crew achieved to produce a movie with insane action sequences along with good writing and acting. The dialogue is succinct, cinematography and sound design is amazing. Most importantly, the movie managed to retain its artistic tone like the previous ones. Music is marvelous. Actors are fantastic and without any doubts, they worked extremely hard and prepared effortfully for the movie.

The movie is full of action. You feel the danger, suspense and vagueness John finds himself in. From beginning to end, the quality, thrill of the conflicts and skirmish does not downgrade even a little bit. My only issue with the movie is I didn't feel John's character compared to previous movies, which is completely understandable considering the plot of course. Personally, I enjoyed first two movies more because of that, but this is a personal preference.

Nonetheless, this splendid movie has been served to us with passion and love. Consequently, I am grateful to everyone who has taken a part in this production, whether it is small or not.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Just when you thought the stakes are not high enough. The third chapter of John Wick (aptly subtitled as Parabellum) is the best one of the three, so far. Packed with much more dangerous stunts and outlandish situations that normal people couldn't get out of, this film is an exhilarating ride of non-stop thrill. However, the length of the film is an issue. Like the second film, this one saturates the viewers with heart-pounding action, to the point where after the film arrives with the third act, the viewers get jaded. But overall, this film is a major improvement to the last one, which, by the way, was thought of as unsurpassable in terms of its quality. It just keeps getting better and better. Expand

Will the rise of John Wick continue? Not quite.

Now the film starts strong again, seamlessly starting with the previous part. Until then, usual fun with John Wick.

But then, in the middle of the film, he lets a little bounce, doesn't make the decisions I hoped for and you start to get bored (only in small spurts).

Towards the end, however, the film pulls itself out of the loop and has very strong moments. The end is more what I had hoped for in the film to a large extent, but the film title can already give an indication of why such a moment did not come earlier.

Ergo, the film is still very good action level, but in the Wick Ranking, film 3 is in 3rd place. But you can be curious about part 4.

Did Baba Yaga hit the mark?

Keanu Reeves stars in his third iteration of many’s favorite movie hitman, John Wick. It feels like a long time coming for this movie but the franchise picks up as if they never left us. The only person who left us in this series was Michael Nyqvist, who as signature villain in the first John Wick movie. There is a nice tribute to him in the credits after the movie.

But now it’s time to take a shot at Baba Yaga.

YOU KNOW WHY YOU’RE WATCHING THIS MOVIE. John Wick does two things very well: kill assassins and get the mess beat out of him. In this movie, those are two of the three things worth watching. The third thing worth watching is Halle Berry and her canine bodyguards. We know what we are going to get from John in this movie but for about 10 minutes, Halle’s bodyguards steal the movie. Halle did a really great job, surprisingly, looking natural with the fight choreography and gun play in the movie. Other than that, there are some good one liners that fans will understand from the first two movies. This movie has a strong beginning and I want to shout out my NBA fans. All I’ll say is, “Boban!”

NOW for the main course… the bad parts. THIS MOVIE HAS VERY LITTLE PLOT, DIALOGUE AND PLOT DEVELOPMENT. That makes the 2-hr movie quite rough to get through, even when you don’t expect much in the plot realm anyway. This movie is two hours of almost non-stop fighting, shooting and gruesome killing. That’s better than watching Keanu struggle to run for 2 hours, in hindsight (i.e. Tom Cruise in any Mission Impossible movie). This movie is easily 30 minutes too long. Most of that 30 minutes is solid fight scenes; however, they use the same grappling and jiu-jitsu moves in every single sequence throughout the movie for Keanu, Halle and in the previous movies. Therefore, the fighting gets old, especially in this movie, which had a very strong first 45 minutes.

After that, they gave us a couple of laughs in this movie but they made the main villain and his lackeys too big of a joke. At first, the joke was funny but it wore out its welcome and they just kept hammering it home (similar to a Euron situation for my GoT fans). On top of that, the villains weren’t even really trying to kill John towards the end, anyway. The director was like, “hey everyone just slap fight with John. We’ll keep the tape rolling until we run out”. It became hard to watch towards the end and I just wanted the movie to end. Not to mention, the other villain in the movie no one even tried to kill and you want her to die the most!

Long story short, if you are a John Wick series fan, you have to see this but I’d suggest getting the cheapest price possible. Maybe save your money for John Wick 4, which is certain to happen and in hopes of a better movie. For the general fan, watch the the first John Wick and then decide if you want to keep watching in a matinee or rent/stream capacity only in the months to come.

Again, the story is not about the Oscars, but the event. This is something unreal! I've never seen better action scenes in my life than in John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum. The plot is nice again, although it doesn't surpass here from number one. But the film has an incredible pace thanks to the action and will let you breathe just for a moment and especially the scenes in the desert ... INCREDIBLE ACTION! This is just an action movie, like a pig, and I'd rather end the series here, because this is probably impossible to overcome. An amazing film for me and I have to say that if you love action, this is a duty? Expand

Its a good movie, it had very good scenes and it has very good momments.

But i got the felling the 3rd movie its more based on the continental it self , not on wick anymore.

John Wick has everything an action movie needs.

The combat scenes are masterfully choreographed, without those shaky camera moves that most films of the genre love to do. We also have glorious kills, without having to appeal to unnecessary gore.

The plot of this one is a direct sequel to the previous movie - which, eventually, is important to the development of this trama. The characters are great and well-made, mainly Sofia, whom I particularly loved - the movie not only emphasizes her, but her dogs either. And we cannot forget Keanu Reeves, that lives the protagonist and make the scenes in such an organic way - capitally at his age. Dude was just born to this role.

A sequel that felt more like filler that didn’t necessarily need to be made before chapter 4 came out. Still a really good action popcorn flick though.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The gun/melee porn is very strong, and this is a stylish film for sure. However with each movie in the series the suspension of disbelief becomes even stronger. As a master assassin I can buy the fact that John Wick has amazing reflexes and literally never misses. However it's too far fetched that he can brawl to death hundreds of henchmen one after another. Keanu got away with this in the Matrix because of his special powers, but here he's just a old guy with a slight physique. The ending where he survives being shot several times before falling off a 15 story building, hitting numerous fire escapes on the way down, is just ludicrous. Most of all I enjoyed the world building, the high table, the continental, etc. This movie is basically a video game. Expand

Very entertaining, great imagery, great fight scenes, Keanu is fantastic....I gave it a 8 since it had weak moments for me: 1. Halle Berry was a baaaad casting, her scenes are not believable and ruined it for me 2. Asia Dillon did nothing for me, she was over acting and forcing it and I cannot get over her character in Billions , she brought the same character on with the difference that she was trying to be too sexy and forcing it, didn’t buy her either. Sofia Boutella would have been a better cast for Halle Berry btw. 3. Hokie fight scenes:- several ocassions where the bad guys had a chance to I’ll Keanu but they let him get up and fight again!!! Strange humor that didn’t work in the middle of some fight scenes- fight scene in train station, people dying left and right and the bystanders don’t even react!! All when blood spatters everywhere and bad guys are being cut and killed!!! 4. Non stop action sequence seemed video game like at some points Expand

Not here are the action scenes perfectly set, here there is again a perfectly played Keanu Reeves. But in the first 2 parts there was still a great scenario, which in 3 parts turned into a clown. It seems that in the script I tell more about the world, and it turns out nonsense. Part of the plot in Africa is not clear at all how it affects the plot. I certainly understand that in the film, where the main thing - realistic production of action scenes the plot is not the most important, but not to drop to the level of Marvel in the development of the script. And so the film is great. Expand

I liked John Wick 3 better than 2 but not as much as the first.

The action is not only better than one and two, it is some of the best in any film, period. There are some really unique kills and situations. I highly admire the fight choreographers as this must have required a ton of work.

The fighting isn't the only ingenious part here. John Wick's alternate reality crime world looks and feels distinctive. I found that the story and the organization's rules were refreshingly simpler here than the machinations in the last film.

Cast and characters are solid all around. Though Halle Berry is heavily advertised in the trailers, she's only in a part of this. However, she is a lot of fun in the scenes she is in. Though this is Keanu's movie, credit should also be given to Ian McShane and Lance Reddick, who remain the only other characters to appear in all three films, who bring a chill respectability to their roles as the manager of a hotel for assassins and his concierge. Over the films John has had a fine roster of physical opponents, but Mark Dacascos' Zero is the best villain yet in regards to both physicality and personality.

Now, you're probably wondering why I'm not giving this a higher rating. The right side of my brain would have liked to and absolutely loved this because of just the action. But, the left side of my brain can't help but be frustrated by the story. It basically ends the same way the last one ended as a set-up for the next film. There isn't real closure and it just doesn't feel like everything John goes through actually amounts to much.

It is also a little hard to root for John, who is on the run from the High Table, the ruling body of his criminal world, as he calls in favors and puts associate's lives and/or livelihoods in danger. The previous movie he brought this all on his head because he knowingly broke the rules as well as tried to shirk a favor he owed. Makes John hypocritical. However, I suppose he is supposed to be an anti-hero.

Also, I felt that some of the fight scenes could have been shortened. (John's fight with Zero's two best men, goes on especially too long.) For every cool move, you get another simpler move that is repeated too many times. So much grappling, so much grappling...

If you love the action of John Wick no matter what, you should definitely see this. It's just that if you're like me and were dissatisfied with the last film's plot, then treat this with a grain of salt.

Parabellum is a great third entrie but there's a big problem with it, but that problem is not about quality but focus.
This third installment doesn't feel like a real sequel. I say it because this time it doesn't feel like an evolution but it feels like an extension.

By starting the story just minutes after the end of the second part, the film takes the same rhythm and style of that film and although the story continues to expand the mythology of their world, the narrative cannot avoid the repetitive moments anymore.

But as I said that is more a question of the approach than of quality. And Parabellum has a huge quality. Again there's no pretense, this is just a great and solid frontal action film where the fight and shooting sequences are still spectacular. The choreographies are incredible and even with 54 years, Reeves continues to look like a total badass.

He is John Wick. He is this franchise and what has elevated him so much in the genre is that he's neither a hero nor an antihero.
He's just a hitman and an excellent one for that matter and for this story it's more than enough.

Like the second part, the ending is open and it's not that I'm against John Wick Chapter 4 but once again it feels like we're staying halfway.
I only mention it as a small observation.

Nonetheless, do yourself a favor and if you love action films go watch it without hesitation.

Reeves keeps changing suits and still has managed to looks the same, the theme is so deliberately definite on terms of information, that you will have to keep digging more.

John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum

Stahelski believes in the old testament. Strong and mystical is his command over the world, so rich and highly detailed that even the flawed characters and textbook formulaic writing will be overpowered as you sink in this poised light-reflecting clean job. The director Chad Stahelski is probably breaking record by going against everyone's expectation on delivering a chapter of higher quality, this series has never seen a fall and it has been quite a journey. Round after round, this brawling brutal match is taking a toll on our host and we, shamelessly, as an audience keep wishing for more.

Plus, the series has a get out clause, in a sense that it will get support from both the corners. With an alluring picturization of the R rated mythology, the box office gets crowded for the universal physical language and the critics drool over the smoothness of the film, they took a simple formula and applied it on high quality filmmaking. From dragging in old tricks (they use chalkboards) and relying upon simple creatures, to visual effects finally coming alive in the film proving how advance the production has grown in this age and day; you don't have to float through space to drop your viewer's jaws or make their eyes pop.

Keanu Reeves, goofing around with his old time friend Stahelski, is pitching avant garde visions and Stahelski makes those dream come true, ergo, the narration had to be engaging- although the weakest character is Halle Berry's in here. This time the world that they have created inside ours, seems more complete as other characters gets a huge chunk of meat on their side. And with Reeves leading them on, with a bumper sticker John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum, his still face, red enraging eyes and gutted screams undermines all the possible one-liners you can think of.
