This movie doesn't know if it wants to be scary, funny or romantic. It ends up with becoming none of them.

If I would watch this movie without knowing its a sequel I would've guessed its a parody on the first movie.

Lots of audio-amplified CGI jumpscares, but with the exception of Bill Skarsgard as "IT", the various actors are easily interchangeable with the various characters: no one stands out. There's no plausible chemistry and the humor is often awkward and ill-timed. Frankly, it was slow and boring. Not scary, or even creepy-good.

I am amused by the SQUEE! reviews here, rating it a "10" but then saying, "It's not perfect..." Okay, that's coherent (not).

The movie is very long and lacks a conductive thread to maintain its narrative structure. It is in this new ridiculous chapter, and not to say boring. The director sacrifices fear and a blunt plot for cheap comedy (OUT OF PLACE) and unreal visual effects. Disappointing in many measures, the film also loses the heart it had been building in its first installment and ends up delivering a series of bland and extremely long flashbacks, which destroy the true bonds of friendship built by the Losers. There are no explanations between the time lapses, which dont give the viewer a greater context, resulting in their characters already in adult versions being incredibly empty and flat. It 2 is simply an expensive fiasco that feels so cheap and painful to watch.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It: Chapter Two is bad.

As a fan of the book and first film, there were a few scenes I enjoyed and though there are one or two performances that hit right, they dropped the ball hard with this one.

Starting with where the bad of this film begins, the writing is awful. It tried and failed to capture the parts of the book and Chapter One that intrigued so many people.

Then, there’s the acting. I expected so much more from such huge names, who I’m an active fan of because of their talent, and I think the biggest disappointment for me was Jessica Chastain’s Beverly. Being the powerhouse of an actress she is, I expected her usual quality of performance but something was lacking. It could have to do with the writing, but I can’t pinpoint it. Bill Hader and James Ransone have satisfactory performances. Isaiah didn’t feel like Mike, though he is a good actor. Jay Ryan was alright, I guess? And while his performance as Bill was good, James McAvoy’s American accent took me out of the story a lot and he, like everyone else, didn’t feel like his character to me. To flip to a positive take though, the two actors I do think had the best performances are Andy Bean and Jaeden Martell. Andy Bean was the only adult Loser who felt like their character and delivered in his portrayal (though James Ransone also came super close) of his younger counterpart despite only being in a few minutes of the movie. He perfectly captured Stan better than any of the other adults did with their characters. And, then, Jaeden Martell gave such a quality performance as young Bill with only so little time, even stealing the screen from James McAvoy for a few moments. You can tell they both understand their characters deeply and it shines through in the end, with their performances being so natural that they seamlessly slip into the roles of their characters without fault.

It was not a scary film, which is where it fails as a horror movie, and the only scary part was the hate crime that opened the film. (Or if you’re like me, you’d agree that the changing of Eddie’s last words was a horribly scary part)

When it comes down to it, it’s a rushed attempt to recreate the magic they had in the book and while making It: Chapter One and it did not deliver. Just reinforcing how wonderful the book and first film are, Chapter Two is not scary, lacks the charm and charisma of the first film, and lacked good writing at its core. Rushed, low quality, and corny can all be used to describe this, as sad as it is to say. With only a few good performances and scenes, It: Chapter Two gets 2/10 for me.

I’m incredibly disappointed in the movie that was put out and down to the core, it starts with how badly it was written and the ripple effects of that couldn’t be outrun. A horrible movie, through and through. Forced jokes, bad writing, and overacting killed this film for me.

While entertaining at surface value, it lacked everything that made you love the original story and Chapter One. And, more importantly, it didn’t feel like It.

And I was falling asleep due to how boring this movie was.
Pennywise isn’t creepy as the first was.

The jump scares in the first one was WAY better but soon did become predictable.
This movie was dragged out WAY too long than need be, and there was way too much going on with all the extra things added into it.
It’s a waste of money at that price I would say sell tickets for $10 a piece because that’s what it’s worth is.

Episodic and repetitive, the filmmakers start out throwing everything at the audience and find themselves no where to go with no way to increase the tension. Not only that but the tired stereotypes of Native Americans shows the exploitative attitudes of the film makers. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This movie is an absolute mess, there is the potential for it to have been great with some of the special effects and acting being passable or great in places, but the editing destroyed it completely, it either dwells too long on the same thing to the point where there is no suspense or it simply drops plot points without ever showing you their conclusion.

For example the opening scene which people are talking about, There's a gay couple, they get into a fight, punched to the point of near death and chucked in a river, IT reaches for one of them but not the other and .... that's that, the people who were attacked are never mentioned again in the film also the group of murderous teens that killed one of them are never mentioned again and never face reprucussions or anything for their act, they also presumably completely get away with murder (literally) so they are going about Derry being evil after the movie is concluded (?)

The little boy who now lives in Professor X's childhood house... was he killed in the hall of mirrors? was that an illusion made to make the Prof. fearful? his parents never look for him, they never find the body of him, they do not investigate by returning to the childhood house to see was the kid ever really there or was it like the saggy tit monster, just an illusion to give yet another jump scare.

The little girl under the bleachers is the same, she's there, she's killed presumably... nothing happens, also IT doesn't remotely try to scare her before eating her face so I'm guessing her meat tastes like **** to him, dunno why he would have been drooling to eat her at that point in the film, she hasn't been scared and it's shown that IT has eaten since he woke up ... so.... he's drooling because he did it in the first movie and people said it looked cool (?) who knows.

But like I said, this movie's editing kills it, you get scene after scene of the exact same thing just with different characters. Mike Calls person 1, that person is scared and shocked, they stumble about.... okay... Mike calls person 2, that person is scared, they stumble about, Okay... any audience member could now understand he will ca.... MIKE CALLS PERSON 3, THEY ARE SCARED, STUMBLE AROUND... OKAY MOVIE, WE GET IT MIKE IS GONNA... MIKE CALLS PERSON 4, Guess what happens? did you guess A.They are scared, stumble around and nothing else happens or B. They are scared, stumble around and nothing happens or C. They are scared, stumble around then kill themselves because of fear. or D. They are scared stumble around and nothing happens. Ding ding... all of the above happen, scene for scene it's all the exact same except one guy cuts his wrists in a bath, in all honesty by that point in the movie I was thinking he was the lucky one and considered joining him.

But the group get together in Derry, they have a chat, there is a literally laughable scare scene in their meeting meal and then they go their separate ways because they don't wanna fight IT again. Then each one of the characters goes their own way.... meets IT and gets scared each scene goes on for about 10-15 minutes and there is 7 (?) of them back to back, it's a case of Character goes somewhere, IT scares them, Character runs off X7 it is actually torture to sit through, there is no fear of any of the characters getting killed, it's just a boring mess.

As for the ending, the things they spent the last 2 and a half hours collecting do nothing, so they call IT a stupid clown who then turns into a baby and they collectively reach into it's chest and pull out IT's heart... then ... for no reason at all they crush it in front of him, I mean... I'm going to take a wild guess that if you remove the heart from a creature that creature is then dead because it doesn't have a heart, but I guess the crushing of the heart made for a cool visual, if you like to see a pointless scene of desecrating the heart of a dead thing.

This movie was as badly put together as suicide squad it felt insulting and by the end of the movie in my theatre an entire row of people left the cinema with 30 mins to go and one person got up and clapped after it ended, when people were shocked at him clapping he laughed and said "I was clapping because the **** thing ended" and pretty much the whole cinema just burst into laughter, there was laughing during all the scenes with some of the creatures and all of Bill Haders comedy which worked but destroyed this mess even further.

Left laughing at how terrible this was and insulted at how it cost money and time which I'll never get back.

Don't go see this ****

IT 2 o El arte de meter relleno.

HUYAN!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The movie is a total cheese fest. The horror relies far too much on CGI that looks absolutely ridiculous. the entire movie feels like a comedy with joke interludes at almost every 5 minutes to the point where the audience in the theater was laughing at the movie instead of with the movie. Also the film seems to give pennywise a physical body that he can interact with the physical world where as in the book, pennywise is merely a figment of their imagination, and then flicks fear through visions and hallucinations. This is where I get into my homophobic rant...The whole fact that Richie is gay is totally subtext... And it's strange that there is never any mention of it besides pennywise stating he knows his secret. But even pennywise won't say the word gay... Which should be the most terrifying word... It's like the movie didn't want the character to come out, and it's a really **** ending to Richie's story Arch, especially for a 2019 remake. The arcade part came from nowhere... Asking a friend to play games with you for longer is now somehow gay, every straight kid in the 80's would have acted the same... And the gay bashing had nothing, I mean absolutely nothing to do with the plot... It's meant to act as an inciting indecent, but what would have been more relevant is a missing child again 27 years later, then calling the friends back. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Whilst it wows with its special effects and dazzling cinematography, it leaves much to be desired with its thin plot and thinner moral tone. The movie seeks to be more inclusive by stating what is possibly the first gay kiss in such a popular franchise. It then proceeds to brutally beat them into the ground and kill one of them. The movie is so scared of presenting a positive image of sexuality the most people leave the cinema not even understanding the point of the violence. In fact, instead of violence for the sake of violence, the movie tries to be profound and relevant but just comes across as demeaning and insensitive. Also, just **** kill them for Christ sake, you are a magical space deity and you can’t kill a bunch of kids/adults. Expand

To do justice to the books it would have been better as a TV series where you could flesh out the 2nd half of the book better without seeming rushed. The first movie was able to get away with this, but this suffers from it. Even saying that, it was a very long movie and dragged at times. IThis movie is way too long and it simply didn't need to be. There was too much of an effort to cram more of the popular kid cast members back into the film rather than developing the new cast members and it created a real disconnect. I honestly didn't care about what these adults were going through, which is the polar opposite of how I felt for the kids in the first film.

And simply put, Some elements of the book still don't translate well to film. Like the fortune cookie scene and pretty much the entire ending. They're simply awful and goofy looking, And a good reason why is because the CG looks terrible and cheap. It's definitely up there with some of the worst I've seen and that's saying something. I also wasn't a fan of how much of a backseat that Pennywise took in this film, It really disappointed me because he should have been the centrepiece.

Overall, We all knew this film would suck, It was just a matter of how much. And my lord, Did this movie suck.

The film is riddled with flashbacks of you Losers from the first film. The issue with that, is because those events took place in the first film, yet we never saw them - we don't care about those flashbacks! You cannot introduce something NEW in this film that supposedly already happened and expect us to care. A huge issue with these flashbacks is that it becomes formulaic. We get a flashback of one of the Losers, then we jump back to present day where they are in that location of the flashback. It's so boring and predictable to watch. Because of this, Pennywiise becomes so overexposed. He is not scary. We see him so much in this film, we are comfortable with him, thus he has no threat anymore. Because a bulk of this film is flashbacks, the main story is incredibly short. Because of the flashbacks and emphasis on that, the Losers don't feel united until the end of the film. We follow them individually, and it isn't interesting. Another issue for this "horror" film, is that is isn't scary. It's filled with cheap jumpscares and loud music. That isn't scary! There is creepy imagery, but that is entirely different from being scary. There's so much il placed comedy, that makes this film appear as if it was meant to be a comedy. It's...embarrassing. This film is tonally EVERYWHERE, and there are really weird, and disorienting editing choices as well. I will praise that this film is beautifully shot, and Jessica Chastain literally carries this film. The ending following the climax is also very sweet. Over all, this is a muddled and disappointing follow up. I don't recommend. Expand

Also, the Losers killed Pennywise with words? Seriously, stop. You are violating cringe law. At least it was not as bad as that damn Emoji Movie, ew. As bad as it was, there are some good things I enjoyed. The movie was pretty funny, there were some scenes I laughed at. EX: When the losers were cussing at Pennywise, Riche, Pennywise made me crack up at times just by how stupid he was, and etc. Overall, a very bad movie that DID have a few okay moments, but that was from the cringe being so bad it was funny. It was just slow, and not what I wanted. But then again, who am I? Expand

Terrible movie. Horrible story, poor characters, lame CGI... It's like watching a spoof of the IT. Don't waste any time of your limited time on this earth watching this poor excuse for a movie. Trust me and you're welcome.

Unbearable from start to finish, acting bad, story bad, direction bad, music and sfx bad, lighting bad, camera work bad, pacing bad. This is a classic case of the sequel being worse than the original (which was ok at best).

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Man, it was awful. I was expecting to be scared but l was laughing the whole time.. bad cgi, mediocre performances and nothing to be afraid of. A really annoying sequel. The first chapter was great, that one was out of space, really disappointing. The only good thing was the love story between Beverly and the fat kid (l don't remember his name). Expand

In a movie where the main characters are horrifically bullied the monster is finally defeated by calling it bad names.

It: Chapter Two is a collection of CG horror scenes. After the fourth time a character is chased by something scary, only to escape by just running away, you know the following 20 randomly stitched together "scary" scenes don't matter at all. You just sit there waiting for the characters to pull something out of thin air (in third hour of the film) to kill the monster.

The end.

One of my least favorite films. The entire middle section is badly disguised exposition. It's too long and the ending happens too fast. Also, whats with the unexplained violence at the top of the film?

Слишком много клоуна и мало геев! Плюс почему одна женщина в фильме, неужели ни кто не сменил пол за 27 лет! Not as strong as IT chapter one and find this half of the story to be dumb, especially how they defeated Pennywise.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Imho IT suffers from the same disease running amok in modern showbusiness, all professionals being replaced with producers family, people raised in money with no education or real world experience. Closer to scamming than to providing quality entertainment. Most SK novels are commercial and easily screenable, but IT has a more complicated background universe (or multiverse, since it runs on several novels). It wouldve taken some work and/or talent to screen it or explain it. The old miniseries did a top job reworking the creature in those aspects, simplifying IT to a physical arachnoid monster using fears and desires and projecting illusions to draw prey and eat it. In the modern movies they simply don't know how, when, what to do with the concepts, nor at least to make horror movies, not to speak of recreating the IT universe. Yeah 1920 telegraphed to get the jumpscreamers back. Without the context, most scenes lose any sense. Like the whole ending with the 'makebelieve' stuff. We got 2 scenes trying, the whole cavern being it and a 'stream' linking the deadlights to the physical projection. How tf can they release that with half cooked ideas.. And fmaking believe the monster that he's dead... well don't try this at home on real evil kids... SK said it himself, the ending is bad. But hey he sold the old bike for a lot of money. Amazing performance by Bill Skarskard though Expand
