This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Incredibles 2 is an overall disappointing follow-up to the 2004 original film. Where that film had an airtight plot, relatable/likable characters, and themes that will forever be timely warnings to all, the 2018 sequel takes several steps in the wrong direction. Much of the arcs in this film are repeats of the previous and the plot also is more or less a rehash of the first as well without the uniqueness of the spy-thriller setting. It’s less engaging, ignores its own continuity, relies on convenience to forward the plot, and brings in the plot device/toy seller that is Jack-Jack. While I wouldn’t say it’s unwatchable or even bad, the film is handled with a lot less care than the original. Expand

The overall presentation has difficulty landing, which can be attributed to a combination of muddled plot-lines,“The Incredibles 2” is a decent sequel film that plays more of a side-kick roll to its predecessor when compared side by side. The overall presentation has difficulty landing, which can be attributed to a combination of muddled plot-lines, middling character development, and a scattered focus throughout the majority of the run time. While the narrative still succeeds in providing a reasonable level of entertainment, the film can best be described as a lukewarm experience when compared to the Parr family’s first outing.

Concerning the plot, the story’s focus feels like a game of “red-light, green-light” due in part to the awkward pacing between static scenes and moments of relevance. While it attempts to follow Helen Parr’s campaign to bring back Super’s after the family falls on hard times, it also tries to balance time with her husband Bob “Mr. Incredible” and their kids as they deal with awkwardly mundane, everyday issues. Unfortunately, this lack of cohesive focus in the overarching narrative makes the film feel more long and drawn out than it should be; dwelling on side-stories and rehashed character development that was covered reasonably in the first movie. Though the plot throws in a number of new faces, such as the mildly-eccentric Deavor’s and a small group of outcast Super’s, most are glossed over and exist solely for the sake of the scene they appear in. The big twist concerning the main antagonist is clever, albeit somewhat predictable, and offered a villainous master plan that was mixed parts ambitious and ludicrous; particularly the latter in how it was carried out. This led to a climax that felt forced and underwhelming, and was only salvageable by merit of the action sequences highlighting the entire family working together.

As for the characters, the original cast feels about the same as they were depicted in the first film, with a few caveats. Bob still does his best to protect his family, though he is also presented as being uncharacteristically conceited through the first half of film when Helen is chosen for the big P.R. project instead of him. Violet is also more abrasive in general, though it didn’t help matters that she was given the same arc that she already overcame in the first film. While Helen received a little more polish overall thanks to her larger presence in the spotlight, there were moments where her ego felt a bit more grating than was necessary. Similarly, Jack-Jack’s increase in screen time is only justified by the random shenanigans his powers create, which the film utilizes primarily for comedy and plot contrivance. Lastly, though antagonists Underminer and Screenslaver brought a balance of levity and tension, both seemed underutilized in the long run. For example, even though Screenslaver’s backstory is the sole purpose in turning them into the main threat like with Syndrome, there are levels of nuance surrounding the details of the mentioned past events which cheapen the strength of the argument. The most definitive point against the film, however, is its writing which often felt rushed and unfinished. While the first movie also had a number of events taking place simultaneously like this one, the overall focus was grounded and far easier to connect with. Cause and effect were key. In this movie, the family needs the P.R. gig because they can’t afford to move again, which only works because Helen is coincidentally chosen for it. This is already flawed from the first film, since the family was well-off financially thanks to Bob’s new “job”. Additionally, though it made logical sense for Bob to be disqualified from the P.R. project, no reason was given for why Frozone wasn’t selected. Finally, and most egregiously, is the family not knowing Jack-Jack had powers despite being able to clearly see them at the end of the first film. Since several key plot points have to occur from the family not knowing about them, this makes the story fall apart if the events that should have taken place are accounted for.

Altogether, despite the aforementioned negatives, “The Incredibles 2” isn’t a bad movie. A good amount of the humor lands, most of the action sequences are enjoyable, and the story is fairly engaging if no critical lens is applied and is taken with a grain of salt. At the end of the day, however, the film ultimately had the potential for greater praise if only some more care had been given to its overall construction.

The writers come up with the most half-assed concept for a story, picking up right after where we left off. And deriving a story that had little-to-no substance. sure the comedy, the charm and energy was all there (as you would expect, even from a lower-tier Pixar movie), but overall the premise and story just wasn't there. I feel like audiences are becoming less intelligent in what appeases them. There's nothing in this story that had me interested or engaged, and I left wondering where's the 80/100 come from? It has its moments, but overall, I felt it was a low-grade script you'd expect from some teletoons serial episode. Not memorable. Expand

Gran peccato.

Consigliato? Sì, vi divertirà senz'altro.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I really don't like the fact that its name doesn't have The before it. Like, why? Now the two movies won't be next to each other whenever they are alphabetically arranged. But anyway, that's just a minor inconvenience. I hope that's the only problem I have with this movie, other than probably the fact that it's nowhere as memorable as the first movie. While The Incredibles is something of a pop culture icon this movie is, well, let's just say we'd have never learnt about it if it wasn't advertised so much.

Incredibles 2 starts off from the part where the prequel left. And it finally answers the question of what happened in the fight between the Parr family and the Moleman - It... Happened. The only thing that came out of it was that Violet's BF learnt about her identity, which was later wiped out (or so I remember, I don't even think this movie was memorable enough. I'm remembering all the scenes as I'm writing this). So now Helen is out on another adventure, leaving Bob with the kids. And he's terrible at handling them. It was a very funny scene, seeing him struggle everyday trying to help Dash with his homework and Jack Jack in changing his diapers.

The family moves into a new home which is way better than their previous one. Dash and Violet discover Bob's car and they bring it home. Then something something Helen finds out the guy who she's working with has a sister who is her costume designer, and she's secretly evil. And now it's up to the kids to save the day with all the superpowers and plot armours. See this is exactly the problem of this movie. It is super predictable, although that's not a bad thing since the way those scenes are executed make it very satisfactory to watch.

The animation of this movie is probably the best thing about it. It is one of the only things which has improved drastically since the first movie. The Incredibles, you might remember, was very cool. But I just wrote a review of it yesterday and it was then that I realised the quality of that movie has aged terribly. In terms of polygon count this one takes the win. However, I also mentioned in that review that the thing which makes The Incredibles so much fun to watch is that it feels like a videogame, something similar to Sonic the Hedgehog or Spider-Man for PS4. That's not something I could say about this movie.

Incredibles 2 isn't one of the movies Pixar is known for making. It's something of a sequel that can only satisfy you that the fight in the end of the first movie didn't end on a suspenseful note. It is a one-time watch for the fans of the first movie, although the kids might like it since the movie seemed to be more oriented towards them.

I am happy to say that this movie is worth the wait, and it is fantastic. However, I do think the first Incredibles is marginally better for a couple of reasons. This movie isn't as gritty and gruesome as the first, which is both nice and a fault in comparison. The story is good but not as great, and the villain is considerably weaker than Syndrome. Other than that, this movie is a blast. It is so great to see these characters again. The animation is amazing; it's so cool to see the animation from this movie and compare it to the first. The action sequences are also stunning. Most superhero films today wish they had action scenes this good. The music is also great; Michael Giacchino once again does a fabulous job with the score. I do believe that if this movie came out earlier it would have a more consistent tone that lined up with the first, because watching these back to back they do feel a little different, and it's not just the updated and improved animation. I do feel that this movie would benefit from that dark and gritty tone that the first Incredibles nailed. Still, Incredibles 2 is worth the wait, and quite the blast. Expand

13 years later, the sequel has finally arrived. It picks up right where the first one left off, so we get to see how the family is doing immediately with the same circumstance that troubled them on the first film.

What I noted immediately is that the plot is very similar, if not identical to the previous movie, with a few details modified. It's very clear that the writers tried to, once again, capitalize on the conflict of balancing the superhero life to the normal family life, a task that I think is better achieved on this movie. However, I once again think the plot could've been a bit more ambitious, so the story didn't feel like a generic kids action movie.

Yet again, the visuals are the biggest selling points here, as everything looks amazing, it's really a feast for the eyes. The characters and their suits really show the magic that Pixar is able to pull off.

As similar as it is to the first film, I can't help feel that everything was done slightly better in this installment, although I wished the studio were a little more ambitious in the way they treat these iconic characters.

Personally, I face sequels with some precaution, but there is no doubt that, at times, they exceed the original. In this specific case, what we have at hand is a work that is perfectly up to the initial work.

The biggest flaw in this film, for me, was the script, which is too similar to the initial film: the Parr family are, again, called by a millionaire determined to rehabilitate the superheroes but, this time, its Helen who is going on a quest for adventures, leaving her husband at home, looking after the house and children. Its a feminist film in its essence, which can be nothing more than a blink of an eye to politically correct and social movements that, in the past, accused Disney of being misogynist.

The film is quite good, and you can even notice the correction of some problems seen in the first film. The voice cast continues to be excellent and doing a good job, and I would positively highlight the performance of Holly Hunter, Craig Nelson and Sarah Vowell. This time, I didn't feel the film dragging on as it did the first, perhaps thanks to a better balance between length and pace. The story told also seemed to me to have adult elements enough to please the older audience to the same extent that it will please the younger ones.

Technically, it is a Disney film, and that says, practically, everything: a careful and appealing visual cinematography, excellent drawings and lines in a film that never goes in search of graphic realism. The use of excellent CGI and visual effects are essential to make the film visually pleasing and appealing. In addition to this, we have a good soundtrack, full of epic and heroic sense, which combines quite well with the theme of the film but is not heard.

This is very Jungian, very Plato's cave. The collective can sleep through an attack by villains, but having heroes around disrupts people. I think the base problem is that heroes spark feelings of inadequacy, that people could be more than they are and take an active part in life. Villains are preferable because they make people feel like they are better than somebody, which confirms preconceptions. The majority of people cannot comprehend the idea that they could be more than they are. Expand

After seeing the trailer i was a bit worried that the plot wasn't going to be very interesting, however, the original trailer for incredibles 1 was awful too, so i wasn't too worried. Unfortunately the trailers were correct this time, the plot of this movie is simply terrible. Despite taking place literal seconds after the first film, none of the characters have seemed to have grown or progressed from the beginning of the first. The flaws they all had at the start of incredibles 1, are all still issues in this film. The only real difference is mr incredible and Elastigirl have had their roles reversed for no real reason. The one story line i enjoyed was with bob struggling to look after his children and be "incredible" as he is expected to be. Its just a shame that is never looked into deeper. It would be far more interesting to spend some more time developing his character to come to grips with the fact he cant always fix everything, or solve every problem, but instead its resolved by the next scene. Turning back to the plot, the motivations of the villain make no sense, at all. It doesn't help the villain is also extremely boring and extremely predictable. The character of syndrome in the first film makes this film feel like it was written by a child, and outside of the quality of it's animation, this film really has nothing going for it. 3/10 - Needed a whole plot rewrite to even be worth making :( Expand

The animation for the family is... weird, for not saying the least. The Incredibles 2 was a film that was a faithful follower of its prequel with a good background, and great character development, but comparing with the 2004 prequel, it is slightly inferior, however it is quite entertaining and brings a lot to show.

I still think the first one was better but this one is so much more fun. The first installment was more of a gloomy/serious movie but the second installment is fun and surprising. This movie picks up right where the first one ended. Elastigirl is a really good super hero dare I say even more interesting than Mr. Incredible (it's close). That meant Bob had to stay home to watch the kids. This is by far the show stealer. Jack Jack takes the spotlight here. Bob trying to deal with his new powers is amazing! Also watch out for something we saw in the movie poster! It really is a delightful treat. Sadly Edna Mode does not have as much screen time as she did in the first movie but all of her lines are absolutely hilarious. The Screenslaver was an awesome villain. It was cryptic and creepy and the fighting scenes were so creative. Overall this movie builds up to it's grand finale which is good and bad (for reasons that you'll know when you watch) but it was a funny and action packed ride that really was worth the 14 year wait! Ready for The Incredibles 3 ALREADY! Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Incredibles 2 is my 2nd favorite animated superhero movie, one of my top 10 favorite Pixar movies of all time, it is one of my favorite animated movies, one of my favorite superhero movies of all time, and one of my favorite movies of all time. The writing and direction from Brad Bird were spectacular. The animation was amazingly gorgeous. The voice over performances were stupendous especially Craig T. Nelson, Holly Hunter, Sarah Vowell, Huckleberry Milner, Brad Bird, Catherine Keener, Bob Odenkirk, Sophia Bush, Samuel L. Jackson, Jonathan Banks, and Michael Bird. The humor, Comedy, and jokes were hilarious. I also loved the incorporation of all of the new superhero's and how the movie was mainly about Helen Parr/Elastigirl being the sole one doing all of the superhero work and Bob Parr/Mr. Incredible having to juggle everyday things and taking care of the children. Also Michael Giacchino's soundtrack was fantastic. Incredibles 2 is as good as the original if not better in some ways and I loved this one more than the first one. An awesome movie. A+. Expand

The Incredibles 2 is a great movie.
Having to fight with the legacy of the previous movie, a film that was practically perfect, it is complicated. But this second part does not disappoint and vastly expands this great story of superheroes.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Okay, so, you thought Incredibles 2 was a good movie? You thought it was as good, or better than the first. Maybe you even thought it was just "okay." I'd like to make a few points that I believe more or less deny any hopes of Incredibles 2 ever being solidified as a classic alongside The Incredibles, or even hope to be believed to be a good movie. I'm going to get a bit of a pet peeve out of the way before moving on into the bigger points. These don't really affect the quality of the film by themselves, but on top of the others, they just sort of throw salt in the wound. First off, it's not *The Incredibles 2*, it's just Incredibles 2. For some reason, they decided to stray from *The Incredibles* to just *Incredibles 2*. Just sort of a pet peeve. With that out of the way, I'm going to move on to some more egregious errors. My first frustration with this film is the seemingly sudden personality changes for certain characters, most notably Violet, but Dash and Elastigirl/Helen also have different traits than the original classic. Violet seems to have changed from a shy, sweet teen to a super angsty teen. You could claim that this was due to the events of the first film, but it doesn't really make sense that'd she go from her original personality to this seemingly different person. She was clearly more confident and open by the end of The Incredibles, but not angry and angsty. Helen is another example of seemingly unexplained characterization switching. In the first film, she was very hesitant to get into hero work, and chastised Mr. Incredible/Bob whenever he did illegal hero work. However, she's immediately ready to jump on this illegal hero train, and despite trying to hide it, actually is clearly enjoying it. Where did this sudden adrenilene feuled thirst for illegal hero work come from?
Dash has experienced something of a *non-characterization* approach in this film. He is there seemingly for no reason, and he does basically nothing throughout the film. He just runs around and does things that get into mischief. A problem similarly found with Jack-Jack. Whom I also hate in this film.
Mr. Incredible/Bob seems to have gone through what I call the **Lightning Mcqueen** effect. In the Cars franchise, the movies follow a very similar formula. We open the film by seeing Mcqueen act like an a-hole, he goes through something, then by the end of the movie he is no longer an a-hole. Lather, rinse, repeat. Unfortunately, they seem to have taken this route with The Incredibles. By the end of The Incredibles, he has learned the values of family (as cheesy as it sounds), and has saved both his reputation, and we're lead to believe the reputation of supers is rather high. Now, we follow him go from an arragont a-hole, to learning the values of family and seemingly the reputation of supers *again*. Which leads me into my next point: this movie is just a lesser repeat of the original. It reuses plot points, character archs, and "plot twists," from the original. We reuse the dislike of supers, and end with the the re-introduction of supers into the world. **Now you could say that they didn't end the first film with re-introduction, but that is what you are lead to believe has happened.* It reuses, as mentioned above, Bob's character arch. It reuses a surprise not surprise villain reveal. And yes, that is a total recycled concept, because to be fair, it was super easy to predict the villain of The Incredibles. Speaking of villains, the villain in Incredibles 2 is one of the most *generic, boring, stupid* villains I've seen in a long time. One of the worst parts of Screenslaver/Evelyn is that she doesn't provide a believable backstory. Being as intelligent as she is, you'd think that she'd understand that Supers weren't the cause of her dad's death. Because of the backstory provided by her and her brother, we are immediately dragged out of believabilty for this story because of how much depends on this terrible backstory. One of the things that made the original film so good was that we both understand where Syndrome is coming from, and can actually empathize with him, and if he weren't evil, maybe we'd even side with him at times. One of the problems with Incredibles 2 is that it has such a legacy to live up to. The orignal had such ~~incredible~~ dark themes throughout it, such as the failing mairage between Bob and Helen, dozens of murders, and actual child murder. It was a action drama with certain humorous bits scattered throughout. Incredibles 2 takes a complete 180 from that. It decides it wants to be a family comedy, while still trying to be edgy. One of the biggest examples of this is the huge emphasis on Jack-Jack. This movie wastes so much time on long sequences of Jack-Jack mischief. Sure, there are moments throughout these sequences that could be funny. But there is an over-saturation of it throughout the film, and it kills both the flow and pace. Also:Pet Peeve: Why are there nonhumanoids?

The movie had some great animation, humorous scenes but I think the villain in here, the screen slaver, isn't as good as Syndrome and didn't play a good role as the main supervillain. Overall, my son and nieces loved it when I took them to the theater to see it. I think they do a great job not only capturing kids attention but adults as well. The adult humor that portrays the struggle that every parent goes through, it is relatable and enjoyable to watch. The only problem I had with the movie was I didn’t think the villain was a very round character. She just seemed predictable which maybe that’s because I am an adult. Overall its still a good movie but not as good as the first. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Director Brad Bird once said that he wouldn't make a sequel to The Incredibles unless he had a "very good idea" and...Was this his good idea? I have mixed feelings about this movie, it's not a Cars 2 kind of sequel, it isn't that god-awful, but it is also not a Toy Story 2 or 3 kind of sequel, it's like Finding Dory, it's not a terrible movie, far from it but it doesn't do anything better than the first one, in fact, it's inferior to the original overall. This movie just played it SO safe.
I'm gonna discuss the good and the bad from this.

The Good:
-I didn't want to talk about the animation as amazing, cutting-edge animation is expected from Pixar, but I really liked the Screenslaver vs. Elastigirl fight, its visual style stands out from the rest of the movie (too bad the "visually stunning" part just lasts like 20 seconds).
-The action scenes were cool.
-For the most part, the jokes were funny, I actually had a good time at the theater when I saw it.

Notice how the best parts of the movie for me are just kind of superficial? Well...

The Bad:
-The story is just a rehash of the first one. Literally is the exact same story but with genders switched, you know, instead of Mr Incredible going into an adventure where he feels as he was the good-old Mr Incredible at its prime once again as it leaves the family at home it's now Elastigirl. Instead of being Mr. Incredible the one who gets captured by the villain and his family has now to rescue him is Elastigirl in this movie, and they have a big fight scene at the end where they save the city...You see my point, right? It's so lazy and predictable.
-The villain is so bad. I didn't see coming the twist of Evelyn actually being the Screenslaver, but that makes it bad, it seems like the writers just shoehorned in this twist to make the audience shock even though it doesn't make any sense, like...She is helping his brother to make superheroes legal again just so they become illegal again? If they are already illegal, why not leave it like that? Maybe her brother had the intention and she tried to stop her brother? I guess.
-The new characters are nothing special and wasted, those new superheroes had potential to become new and memorable characters, just like in a good sequel.
-Why write a clever joke when you can make a baby do "cute" things? I swear that 99% of the jokes are related to Jack Jack doing something, and while I laughed at some of them and I liked his fight with the raccoon, I think that they have do nothing for the plot.

While this is a decent movie, it's just that, a decent movie, it turned out to be just another superhero movie. I'm not "blinded by nostalgia" for calling this movie inferior to the original, I really think that this doesn't have what made the original movie so special. The first Incredibles movie had a better script, with way better jokes, with some serving as a satire of the superhero genre, it was self-aware and that's what made the humor so good, had a better developed villain whose motivation and goals are clear and aren't non-sensical, among other things. I enjoyed this movie, but that's it.

The plot was incredibly predictive (pun intended). And why the hell does all superhero movies need to cram 500 superheros into every movie these days. It completely looses focus.

Some really stupid stuff going on aswell. Especially the 'Dash' character was wildly annoying at all times.

And it seems all superheroes do is stop large things that move at high speed. Train, check. Boat, check. Huge drilling machine, check. I felt like I was watching the same movie 3 times in a row.

And I hated how gullible they made Elastigirl. It was so frustrating seeing the plot unfold in such a predictive manner, and Elastigirl was just completely caught off guard by the most obvious things. She did figure it out, sure. But not until the very last moment, when **** hit the fan anyway. So it was clearly to make the plot work - so she had to be naive. And I didn't care for that at all.

With all of that out of the way, the movie does have its moments. The scenes with Jack-Jack are hilarious. And I loved the Edna segment. It was definitely the high-point of the movie.

Also quite liked how Elastigirl took on her first mission. It was only on the other go-arounds it felt repetitive and naive.

So, there's some entertainment value in specific scenes for sure. But it felt bloated, predictive, repetitive and a bit of a mess overall.

The disrespect of men in the western world since the early 1900's is talked about by some notables but hasn't quite made the mainstream yet. I suspect the people who created this film were just trying to do their best and perhaps were portraying how they see/experience life. However, in an era of examination of roles, tropes, and stereotypes men haven't had their fair shake yet. We need a Men's movement in the best sense of the word. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. BREAKDOWN

Writing (Brad Bird): Here is where the film faults, unfortunately. It had a great foundation that is tripped up by the execution in the script. Making the Screenslaver reveal a big deal was fault #1 and could have been better if dramatic irony was used and we as an audience knew who Screenslaver was but Mrs. Incredible didn't due to her being caught up in her own ego. The dual storylines of Mrs. Incredible and Mr. Incredible were each necessary on their own, but the balance between the two felt off tonally and should have been mixed in a better way. Despite these faults, the allegories to immigration and media manipulation present in the script make this film much more enjoyable. Also, the writing of the new supers is fun and their powers are handled well. My biggest problem after watching this film a second time is the ending. I would have loved to see more fighting between the Incredibles + Frozone and the new supers. It seems the new supers were handled with such ease that they never seemed like a problem besides that first scene at the Incredi-House. Seeing a more prolonged fight would have been more enjoyable than them trying to stop the boat which they could have done while fighting the other supers and would have been more impressive. 5/10

Performances: Craig T. Nelson, Samuel L. Jackson, and Holly Hunter are perfect in their roles just like last time. The entire cast is fantastic, especially with the new addition of Bob Odenkirk who, once again, brings a character to life with a vibrant performance, this time through voice. 9/10

Cinematography (Mahyar Abousaeedi/Erik Smitt): This film is stunning visually with beautiful frames and smooth, long shots. The most stunning visual, in my opinion, is the fight with Screenslaver in his apartment and the room is flashing with the hypnosis. The animation combined with the excellent lighting and cinematography made it a jaw-dropping scene. 9/10

Editing (Stephen Schaffer): The editing here is amazing during action scenes but sub-par during down moments. It was clear it was tough balancing the two storylines through editing. Sometimes a tense moment with Elastigirl would be interrupted by a cut to what Bob was doing with Jack-Jack. However, it didn't happen enough to qualify a poor rating. 6/10

Visual Effects (Josh Holtsclaw): The animation is INCREDIBLE, pun intended, in this film. Miles ahead of its predecessor. Somehow they managed to make each scene even more stunning than the last through the animation alone. 10/10

Enjoyment: The fights in this film are a lot of fun. And I mean A LOT of fun. The only fight that could have used work was the fight against the new supers at the end. Making that the climax as opposed to the boat being diverted away from the city would have bumped up this rating. Also the poor balance during slow moments takes a hit here because sometimes it makes the movie boring or takes away from the tension. 7/10

Musical Score (Michael Giacchino): Michael Giacchino does it again and makes an exciting score that is perfect just on its own. After seeing this film the first time, I could not get enough of the score and would listen to it while doing chores and writing. Somehow they manage to add on to the excellent score from the first film. 10/10

Sound Mixing: The sound in this film is exciting and loud and mixed well, but we don't get enough atmospheric tone which could have enhanced the film. But with what it is now, it's still great and fits the overall tone of the flick. 8/10

Production Design (Ralph Eggleston): The production design of this film is amazing. Each set speaks for itself and says so much about the characters that own them while also providing excellent backdrops for fights or intimate scenes. 9/10

Summary: 'Incredibles 2' is a visual stunner with mostly exciting setpieces, but suffers in its downtime and its ending. However, it does not fail at providing an excellent allegory to the times we unfortunately live in. 8/10

Is it better than The Incredibles? I'm unsure. The first film was great, and the second is pretty equal in quality to me. It's quite different from some other superhero films, but it's still worth a watch. Hopefully we don't have to wait until 2032 for Incredibles 3!

A decent movie with really good fighting scenes. But they are some inconsistencies like in the first movie they knew that their baby had super powers but in this one they just find out that it has powers??Also the villain is pretty boring and cliche

Like the first film, the story is very well written, the characters are very likable, and the humor is funny. The animation in this sequel improves on the detail from the first film and it looks fantastic. However, the only flaw in this film is the weak villain. Screenslaver is definitely not as good as Syndrome from the first movie. While its not as good as its predecessor, Incredibles 2 met my expectations and provided a fantastic sequel. This film is truly incredible! Expand

remercier "Jack Jack"

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Incredibles 2 is a feature that has been long anticipated by fans of the original. It finally comes out fourteen years later, and I'm unsure how I feel. I like the concept of Helen being the one to take charge, but I feel like that's what this movie falls short on. It's nice to see her be able to handle stuff on her own while also having a sense of vulnerability, but I wish the movie had shown more teamwork, not just between her and her husband but with the entire family. Another complaint with this movie is that sometimes the pacing seemed all over the place. At times it felt like the movie itself thought it was being too slow and had to immediately make something go wrong in order to keep audiences enthralled. I will take a moment just to point out the absolutely amazing beginning battle, though. I don't know how other critics feel about this one, but I HATED the villain. It was just another cliche and it really just made me groan and roll my eyes rather than be surprised. I liked the idea of her being helpful towards Helen. It just feels redundant, and I think that is the movie's biggest fault. I'm growing tired of twist villains in movies, especially from Disney, and the Screenslaver just seemed like a way for Disney to pass off being lazy. With that being said, I did like the Screenslaver's speech about humanity being drawn to technology and never getting to truly experience real life. But, sadly, that's just about the only thing I enjoyed about the character, besides its design and concept. I also feel like Screenslaver's motive - to make supers illegal for good - wasn't executed or touched on that well. As soon as the female was revealed as the villain it just seemed more like a villain-is-one-dimensionally-bad-and-that-kinda-valid-motive-we-heard-earlier-is-just-gone-now sort of deal. One good thing I DO want to point out about this movie is VIOLET. Some might disagree but I really enjoyed seeing her be dramatic about not being remembered by the boy of her dreams. She was funny about it despite being crabby and angry at her father for erasing the boy's memories. She had nice dialogue, and I really enjoyed seeing her be able to take care of Jak-Jak AND Dash at the same time, especially during their rescue mission. I also liked the use of her powers. Nothing has really changed from the first film but she seems to know when to use them better (for example, using her force-field as a way to break the fall as she and Dash fall onto the deck of a ship from a high altitude). There was also a scene where her powers were shown to be exceedingly vulnerable, where an attack had her forcefield shrinking in on her and Dash, sure to crush them if it hadn't been counter-acted by Frozone. Speaking of Frozone, I absolutely LOVE that they put more of him in this movie. We get to see that he's actually a well-structured character outside of being a super-hero. He's funny, protective over the kids, friendly to the Helen and Bob, and just overall a very nice character. He and Edna were probably the best characters in this movie, which is pretty sad to say considering who the real main characters actually are. All in all, Incredibles 2 WASN'T really all that good to me. It isn't a BAD movie, but it isn't good. I'm not going to be dramatic about it and say that Disney ruined the franchise for me, but I don't think that they did such a good job on this sequel. I don't see myself rewatching this feature anytime soon, which is really sad because I actually do like the Incredibles. I liked Violet, and I liked Frozone and Edna and even Jak-Jak, but Incredibles 2 falls flat in a lot of places, places that I just can't forgive. Expand

I only have one and a "HALF" problem:
The "HALF" thing is how did Bob sleep with a beard and woke up without it? Well, it's an animated movie so I didn't care about it, but it bothered me, but my only problem is that the biggest event in the movie (I mean superheros being illegal) solved very very easy and fast, I mean they saved the world from villains are more dangerous than saving a train, and they didn't care, but yet I am going to give a A+ and more if I can do it!
Well the first one is better in somethings and this one is better in somethings, so for me they are both equal! I really loved it and enjoyed watching it!
I loved a lot of thing in this movie:
The characters were really amazing and amusing.
The sense of humor was really hilarious!
The story was powerful and entertaining (beside the problem I mentioned up there)
The voices were really fitting on the characters.
The animation motion was really eye-comfort, colorful and entertaining too.
Incredibles 2 is one of my favorite movie... Not only animated movies, but in general!

It’s not a common thing to have to remind an audience about the events of a film that was released fifteen years ago in order for them to walk in to the sequel prepared but desperate times calls for desperate measures.

As THE INCREDIBLES adventure came to an edge-of-your-seat finale, Syndrome was foiled—thanks to baby Jack-Jack and an ill-advised cape—and his jet exploded into a fiery ball, destroying the Parr family home; but the family was more bonded than ever.

It seemed like a happily-ever-after ending until someone called the Underminer declared “war on peace and happiness.”

What is interesting about the return of this super family is that since the release of the first film, the super hero genre has skyrocketed within the film and television industry with major franchises exploding and new heroes emerging every few months.

Yet, the reason behind the success of this family comes from the real-life struggles that they face: worrying about getting jobs, paying the rent, and juggling everything life throws at you.

Still set in the Mid-century-esque timeline, the nostalgic look is reminiscent of the spy-films of the 50’s and 60’s and this is why INCREDIBLES 2 is as marvelous as it is. With that in mind, the narrative strikes a balance between the adventure and the more ordinary aspects of family life - a tango between the mundane and the fantastic.

The film is even edited to reflect this duality, which aids in bringing the message and theme home.

Speaking of the film’s ideology, the opening does cause concern from a liberal political agenda area but does find its true nature towards the film’s final moments when the characters realize that success means that a family has to work together and know their places within the way any family is structured.

Thankfully, the film doesn’t really force a serious tone, but rather delivers a fun packed adventure animation film but more specifically a well-made super hero film.

INCREDIBLES 2 doesn’t really allow the characters to do much evolving, specifically when it comes to Dash, Violet, and Frozone. Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl do some minor evolving when it comes to them sharing each other’s’ loads as parents.

This leaves Jack-Jack.

Jack-Jack really steals the show with his shenanigans as he begins growing into his own and exposes his super powers, a multitude of them that offer some of the film’s most hilarious moments.

The villain of the film also packed quite a punch and delivered a secondary ideology – the blind worship of heroes as well as the danger of constantly looking at the screens.

The action set pieces are complex, beautifully choreographed, and well executed.

What makes them even more enthralling is the fact that the entirety of the crew is able to construct the sequences in a way that is able to relate the familial drama with the Marvel-esque action.

From the visuals of the landscape, to our characters’ fashion, and from the vocal performances, to the brilliant score, the entire team at Pixar ensured that every aspect of the feature was vibrant, engaging, and thrilling.

This is the perfect family film to watch this Summer.

Admittedly this film was never going to match the 14 years of hype build up around it. But having said that it never really felt like it came close.

It is unfortunately and almost directly recycled plot from the first movie but in a slightly worse manner. It also had a hugely dissapointing lack of actual powers used in it and a story much to focused on Jack Jack.

By no means a bad movie, but not a scratch on the first. If i didnt already have love for the franchise i would of probably rated this lower.

A fine family film for a rainy day but dont go out of your way to see it.
