The story is good but it has some stupid parts that make you question the integrity and realism of it. Cliched beginning, the middle of the film is an interesting and very foolish ending. Not a good picture from Netflix. Perhaps they should have done tv show, instead of the film.

Finding serious tragedy in a silly concept is a difficult thing to do, but iBoy pulls it off in spades, for better and definitely for worse at times. Characters are well developed and likable for the most part, but the main character is a bit too spoft-spoken and drab a lot of the time, and there is no humor, almost nothing. No comic relief. This is a depressing movie up until the end. There is a really good dialogue between the main woman character who was afflicted by sexual assault, towards her assaulters after she captures them, and some other parts are memorable (again, not necessarily always in a good way), such as the main character's friend being hung from a school balcony by a pair of shoes and their shoe laces. It is a wicked, cruel movie, and will turn your scoffing at the title and premise into pure heartache not even halfway through. It is Mature through and through, but I am strangely fond of it. iBoy, iBore? No, iBoy, iEnjoy.… Expand

Maisie williams is the high point of the film. Story isn't terrible. Not a big budget film but it gets the job done.lead isn't a terrible actor but definitely not the best as well.

No other narrative entertainment property has so closely followed, and wisely so, the story arc of Amazing Fantasy 15 (Spider-Man #1) origin story (before any of the Batman-like villains show up). Two secrets here, the hero benefits from having both too much introversion and too much ambition (original Spider-Man). The female lead benefits from an actress with range and given her things to do. FYI Exact same super-power premise as Josh Holloway's (LOST) short-lived 2012 TV show after LOST ended.… Expand

It's a shame how this turned out. iBoy could have been an interesting flick in the superhero genre but the result is dissapointing. On dirait bien "Watch Dogs, le film" avec ce jeune geek qui se retrouve à la grande insu de son plein gré hackeur de tout et n'importe quoi avec -pourquoi pas- le forfait "justicier dans ta cité de dealers" (profitez-en, c'est offert !) laOn dirait bien "Watch Dogs, le film" avec ce jeune geek qui se retrouve à la grande insu de son plein gré hackeur de tout et n'importe quoi avec -pourquoi pas- le forfait "justicier dans ta cité de dealers" (profitez-en, c'est offert !) la cité archi-classique où t'es obligé de raser les murs et baisser la tête devant la racaille.

Mais heureusement ça va changer, car Super Geek est là pour remettre un peu d'ordre et aider par la même occasion sa petite copine... Un peu lent à démarrer, à booter pardon, le film trouve ensuite son allure de croisière et se révèle de temps à autre bien drolatique dans ses situations ; la mise en scène et les effets sont de bon aloi et la musique électro est bien sympa...

Hélas, le "pouvoir" du geek ou plutôt "ses pouvoirs" prennent une étrange tournure qui brise la cohérence du propos, une cohérence que même les jeux Watch Dogs ont su garder malgré leur statut de simple divertissement qui ne vole pas forcément très haut -et ce n'est pas ce qu'on leur demande, de toute façon.

Dans le cas d'un film cependant, la cohérence est vitale et les raccourcis et facilités qu'il emprunte ici le fragilisent dangereusement ; dommage donc, car ça reste encore amusant mais trop superficiel et bêbête... finalement.… Expand

the movie do somethings right,the actors are fine, the cinematography actually looks good, but the problem stars when the screen play try to become a hardcore and super serious movie(in a ridiculous way). Don't waste your time with this film. Time is valuable so please do not see this movie they're better things on Netflix. Story is absolutely awful. Has flat televisual cinematography and it feels like it was conceived and filmed over a weekend. The best part about this was it was released via Netflix so you don't have to feel bad about having wasted money on aStory is absolutely awful. This is another great example of what a movie turns out to be when the plot is to shallow, the lead actors average at best, writing and character development weak and to simple. The whole movie had this dull feeling, like it had no introduction, no climax and no other acts.
The cinematography was above average with it's great looking subtle CGI's but nothing else.
Some characters where just to generic and acted irrational just to help the plot move forward. There where a lot of events that had no immersion and didn't suggest to the viewer that we should care about these events or characters. Overall it was an average movie at best which should have been made with this effort.… Expand

Vagando pelo catálogo da Netflix me chamou a atenção um filme intitulado Iboy, considerado o primeiro longa-metragem original da companhia que conta a história de um super-herói, ainda que estejamos falando de algo bem diferente do que aVagando pelo catálogo da Netflix me chamou a atenção um filme intitulado Iboy, considerado o primeiro longa-metragem original da companhia que conta a história de um super-herói, ainda que estejamos falando de algo bem diferente do que a Marvel e a DC Comics tem apresentado, o filme é digno de ganhar destaque. Com uma premissa não muito inovadora, mas interessante, Iboy nos apresenta ao jovem Tom (Bill Milner, X-men: Primeira Classe), um adolescente comum que vive na periferia de uma cidade britânica com sua avó, criado por ela devido a morte de sua mãe que tinha envolvimento com o vício em drogas.

Tom é um garoto tímido e deslocado, onde vale se ressaltar o bullying sofrido na escola, devido ele não se declarar para sua amiga Lucy (Maisie Williams, Game of Thrones). Uma noite após a aula este vai visitar sua amiga e acaba presenciando um ataque de gangue a família dela, onde ela é estuprada por um bando de jovens encapuzados e seu irmão espancado (ah, tudo registrado por vídeo). Ao tentar fugir e ligar para a polícia ele leva um tiro na cabeça, quando acorda do coma de dez dia, ele descobre que partes de seu Smartphone ficaram alojados dentro de seu cérebro, o que dá a ele a habilidade de se conectar com qualquer objeto eletrônico ou criar pulsos sonoros e eletromagnéticos.



Tomado pela raiva de ver sua paixão traumatizada pelo ataque e com senso de justiça e vingança, Tom torna-se Iboy, uma espécie de Super-Hacker e Justiceiro Social que decide encontrar os culpados do estupro e desmantelar a rede de tráfico de drogas que controla a periferia onde ele vive. Como muitos filmes de super-heróis, Iboy segue a mesma linha de coisas improváveis que normalmente matariam alguém, mas que fazem dele alguém especial. Não merecendo aqui uma critica maior ou menor, uma vez que não é algo novo. Porém, o filme por ter uma premissa bem forte me lembra uma mistura de um mundo sombrio do Batman, porem com um personagem no estilo Peter Parker no mundo de Watch Dogs, só que na Inglaterra. O filme é baseado na história homônima de Kevin Brooks, com o roteiro de Joe Barton (O Ritual de 2017 e Meus Dias de Compaixão de 2019) e direção de Adam Randall (Fim do Jogo de 2016), o roteiro, mesmo um pouco lentamente nos faz se descobrir junto ao protagonista os seus poderes e possibilidades, o que é algo divertido ao ponto que ele torna a obra mais palatável. Além disso Iboy novamente nos leva a um filme da Netflix, onde problemas sociais não são censurados, o que nos garante uma retratação nua e cura de nossa sociedade, onde a violência e o tráfico de drogas, capta jovens da periferia, fazendo com que estes façam atos bárbaros contra aqueles que vivem junto a eles, em nome da fama, respeito e claro dinheiro.

Os efeitos especiais conseguem agradar muito no decorrer da obra, mesmo com eu baixo orçamento o filme consegue apresentar na tela algo que nos faz entender o que, como e por qual motivo ele faz aquilo, tudo de forma muito intuitiva, como seria se realmente tivéssemos esses poderes. Porém vale ressaltar, que ao contrário da maioria das obras de super-heróis, temos neste um pingo de realidade ao perceber que o caminho trilhado pelo protagonista é perigoso e com ele sente-se a vulnerabilidade que este se encontra, pois como a cena onde o chefe manda invadir a casa de cada um dos moradores do complexo e aprende-se todos os eletrônicos, nos mostra que ele ainda esta vulnerável. Por mais que ele tenha toda a tecnologia ao seu lado, ele ainda possui o mesmo físico e condições, podendo ser alvejado ou mesmo descoberto durante todas suas missões e cada vez mais elas chamam atenção.

Mas nem tudo são linhas de programação corretas e certeiras, o filme comete vários erros na narrativa, dando muito foco a personagens dispensáveis, que seria melhor compreendido em uma série, mas não em um filme. Ao mesmo tempo que seu final acaba sendo jogado rápido de mais, não obedecendo a narrativa já apresentada anteriormente, mudando a perspectiva de vermos junto ao protagonista, para assistirmos o protagonista agir.… Expand
