It is as predictable and cliche as you expect it to be. The entire thing rests on Chalamet to carry it through and only he can do so much. Just skip this one.

Hot Summer Nights is pretty much just a showcase for Timothee Chalamet. I want to say that he saved this dry, forgettable mess, but he did not.

Contrived and predictable in its plot sequencing and dialogue. It all adds up into not only a dull experience, but also a sour experience which is cemented by its awfully sad, and nasty climax.  Hell, to quote the film, "You knew how this wasContrived and predictable in its plot sequencing and dialogue.
