I thought this movie was great and funny! It reminds of my dad when he first met my boyfriend who happens to be white (not that it matters). Except for my boyfriend did not crack jokes and my dad was not as tough as Bernie!

It's not a great-class movie. But I kept laughing. It was sweet. I was charmed. I liked it! 8.

A highly entertaining and important take on a classic film. Bernie Mac and Ashton Kutcher really make this film work. Otherwise, it would have been mostly average.

It plays well off of it's incredibly likable cast, but when it starts dealing with the issues of racism the film does fall short because it never manages to come across as intelligent or risky as the 1967 film it serves as a remake to. It's still very sweet and funny, but it never becomes a hard look at why everyone should get along regardless of race like the original film did. The film definitely tries, but I do not feel like it quite gets it right.

Still, if you're looking for a sweet and funny romantic comedy then I recommend this movie. It never quite reaches the maturity of the 1967 film, but it still does hit on a few good lessons about how racism is wrong. "Guess Who" is worth checking out.

This movie was great for two reasons. All the talented people that star in it and for how it played on something we generally don't talk about, reverse racism. It gives everyone a chance to see things from the other sides perspective. At the same time, it's clever, and funny. Guess Who is a can't miss! Expand

This was a pretty funny movie. I did not regret watching it. I thought that it was pretty well cast. I laughed at most of the jokes, ranging from a chuckle to almost falling on the floor. It was an overall good time.

It was predictable, safe and cliché, but the acting was very good, it was funny and the movie was entertaining. As a re-imagining of a classic, I think that Guess Who is a success.

This new concept had the potential to be very funny and ironic, but instead, is just pondering and badly timed.

The movie stars Ashton Kutcher as Simon Green, who is the boyfriend of Theresa Jones (Zoe Saldana), and she wants him to meet her family. She brings him to dinner and it seems that Simon is having trouble getting on with her father, Percy (Bernie Mac). The movie focuses heavily on the working relationship between these two opposite characters.

It also seems that the relationship between Simon and Theresa is put further to the test since it seems that Simon may have lied about what he does. Theresa sees that there could be no way to fix this relationship if they can't trust each other enough. Percy seems to enjoy seeing Simon suffer for a while when his relationship with Theresa doesn't seem to be working out. But, sooner or later, Simon and Percy settle their differences to make things right.

The film is incredibly unfunny, and some of the best and capable actors don't do much with the material they are given. It is a wasted potential as the reverse premise could have been something more, but instead is just used as a modern gimmick. Ashton Kutcher isn't funny enough, to me, to be the main subject in this film. I never personally thought he is capable enough to carry a movie.

There is little care for any of these characters in this movie, they all fall under the usual cliche tropes in any romantic comedies. All of these characters are nothing more than bland, walking, talking stereotypes.

A romantic comedy with little purpose.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is a rather predictable movie, that does provide some laughs. Bernie Mac does pretty well at portraying the very suspicious, untrusting father, with his over the top facial expressions and Ashton is good as the rather awkward and self aware Simon.

They end up in some rather ridiculous situations, which do provide some laughs but its definitely not the kind of movie that I'd want to watch more than once.

I think that in a way both Simon and Theresa's father play such stereotypes of their race, I guess it makes you think and it adds to the comedy, of course. However, it is also pretty cringeworthy at points.

Of course its a movie about race and mocking stereotypes, so, like I mentioned before, it is rather predictable. Here are couple of situations/scenes that particularly stand out - one is when they challenge each other to a lap at a go kart ground that goes wrong, another when Simon sleeps in Percy's room and gets an, um, unexpected visitor and one of the most embarrassing scenes involves Percy pushing Simon to share jokes at the dinner table.

I feel that the movie just doesn't quite have enough substance, its based on one joke thats, lets say as an analogy, squeezed for all its worth.

In a way its kind of a confusing movie too, trying to tackle a serious issue and having its serious moments, while the comedy is pretty daft and so there is a bit of confusion, as to whether its trying to be a full out comedy or a drama, in a sense. Its not totally clear and im not entirely convinced that it works so well but I guess if it makes you think about stereotypes and racism and it does make you re-evaluate opinions and so on, that can't be a bad thing of course, plus there are some funny moments, though the ending, may I warn, is very cheesy!.

This isn't an entirely awful film but its certainly nothing special either. If there's not much to choose from and you want a bit of a laugh and this interest you, then yeah, I'd say rent it or watch it through pay per view but I wouldn't bother with buying it outright. This is a distinctly average movie.

Very funny movie. Nowadays no one cares about black and white relationships like they did back then. That's why it was so funny at the time. Still a good movie regardless.
