Took tissues from the first film and fixed them. With a delightfully cheesy plot and monsters in spades, Godzilla KOTM nails that one important thing about Godzilla movies, fun. I wanted a movie where the Let-them-fight guy did a bunch of silly exposition between scenes of giant lizards shooting lazers at each other, and by gum that's what I got.

This had everything I was looking for in a Godzilla film. What's more, if you are a long time fan and know what King Gidorah usually brings into these films, there was an unexpected twist. Its a Godzilla movie simple as that. If your coming in to the film looking for a ocscar winner than be ready to be let down.but if your comeing to watch giant monsters duke it out than prepare to have a enjoyable experience.

King of the Monsters is a love letter to past Godzilla Films. The references and detail that went into this movie are amazing.you can tell that Michael Dougherty is a Fan of Godzilla! Bear McCreary music is the best he has done since God ofKing of the Monsters is a love letter to past Godzilla Films. I loved he used the music from the old films. The CGI in this film is the best yet. Way better than most films that have come out this year. The Fights are amazing. They felt like they were really there. The human Actors were ok. nothing groundbreaking with them. Charles Dance and Ken Watanabe Were amazing, they put 100% into what they do. I did notice some cliches that you can call out. But nothing that hurts the film.IDK what the critics are thinking. This proves that Critics have become more irrelevant in their reviews. I think the critics really didnt get this movie. Its a monster movie, and for this genre, is a masterpiece. Visuals and audio are just perfect and amazing. Story is not its best but who cares, we came for the monsters battles and those are EPIC.

I really think "pro" reviewers and Hollywood have no idea what a good, fun movie is anymore. These days if the plot isn't full of liberal progressive content to push their political agenda, its an automatic failure in their eyes. Thankfully, Godzilla isn't full of that garbage. The only people I can think who shouldn't see this movie, are those looking for a deep story type movie. This is classic movie making mixed with current day effects. Its a fun, exciting movie. This is the movie you go to, and just enjoy the experience. I don't want to spoil anything, but highly recommend going to see it for the fun action alone. I gave it an 8 only because the story, and some of the dialogue is corny at times. It was still a lot of fun, and Ill be seeing a second time for sure.… Expand

A spectacle. A lot of people seem to not like the human narrative in this, but I thought it was pretty decent, if not well done. It is pretty difficult to keep a balance between the monsters and humans in order for the audience to feel payoffA spectacle. I didn't read all the bad reviews and to be true I can't understand them. I went to the cinema without too much expectation but I hoped to see more Monster fights in reference from what we saw in Godzilla 2014. And I was not disappointed. Most bad critics for the last movie were because there was just fighting by the end of the movie and now we get much more fighting, more monsters and also a "human-plot". To be honest there were moments when I sit in the cinema and thought "really?" "Why did they do this?" but for me a lacking "human-plot" in a Godzilla movie isn't this much important. I want to see Monsters fighting and I saw some epic ones. They also added classic soundtrack into the movie, it had a very nostalgic feeling. So all in all I give the movie a 9 of 10 cause I liked it very much but here and there wer some "Plot-lacking" moments (at least for me). Sorry if there are some language mistakes in the text. Its funny to think that such a fun, awe-inspiring and visually spectacular film seems to benefit so much from prerequisite knowledge and understanding of the deeper Godzilla franchise, but based on reactions to the film I have come to theIts funny to think that such a fun, awe-inspiring and visually spectacular film seems to benefit so much from prerequisite knowledge and understanding of the deeper Godzilla franchise, but based on reactions to the film I have come to the conclusion that many of its pleasures do require an adoration of the source material. Now I do urge anyone to go to the biggest screen they can find and try to open-mindedly turn your brain off (a seeming contradiction but its possible) and just let it all in. Its the very definition of a summer blockbuster, its hard not to have a good time (just accept going into it that this isnt a Nolan film, the script isnt perfect but its absolutely up to the task). If you grew up with the Showa era films, what the hell are you doing! Legendary and WB just spent a boatload of money to make your dream come true!!… Expand

I watched this movie last night and it was very average fare. As a child, I watched all the Toho movies for Godzilla, Rodan, Mothra, et. al. Gozilla is a made in Japan monster. He went to Hollywood. This movie is a sequel to Godzilla(2014) You still can enjoy even if you don't watch the 2014 Godzilla. But I simply enjoyed the battle of monsters. A long time ago, actors had to wear Gozilla's rubber suits. But CGI is very beautiful. I love Ken Watanabe who plays Dr. Serizawa who is a legend and self-sacrifice scientist. He did a great job! Gozilla was in San Francisco in 2014. In 2019, Gozilla appeared in Boston. I love baseball. I love Fenway Park! But the battle scenes are very dark. It is hard to see. King Ghidra is supposed to be gold. Mothra is supposed to be beautiful. But both of them are too dark. That's what I didn't like. This is a movie that people around the world love. We don't need languages. Just we roar like Godzilla! … Expand

Best Godzilla movie ever.
Michael Dougherty takes the spirit of the original japanese movies and brings it to new life in this King of the Monsters.
The new Ghidorah, Rodan and Mothra are simply awesome, faithful to their originalBest Godzilla movie ever.

The new Ghidorah, Rodan and Mothra are simply awesome, faithful to their original counterparts but with a more modern looks to them.
The real star here, though, is Godzilla.
The King of the Monsters never looked better than in this movie.
Nice touch the winks to the original movies like the Maser Cannons, the Oxygen Destroyer and the Burning Godzilla.

I really want to love this movie, because it looks incredible, and I loved the 2014 one. I only realized one of them died when I watched a YouTube review if this movie. the reason for the monsters fighting isn't really explained either. and if it is, it's not communicated well and I missed it. is Godzilla fighting to keep things in check? are they all just jockeying for position? idk in short, great movie to throw on the tv for the popcorn value, but nothing deeper or more meaningful. a high budget sharknado.… Expand

I can honestly say with my hand on my heart that it was one of the best sequels I have ever seen. The graphics, the script, the music, special effects especially are just WOW. Exceptional. The cast, so many good actresses and actors which made it all the better. You just can't recreate such a good iconic movie without the proper cast. I'm honestly 100% speechless. I'm always skeptical about sequels, especially since the first ever Godzilla, but each and every time it just gets better and better. I really hope they make yet another sequel, because I am already dying to see it! Best film I've ever seen this 2020 by far! Even if it did release in 2019. Definitely a 10 out of 10, solemnly because there is no higher number. I would most definitely recommend to anyone. Especially to all the Godzilla lovers out there like me, who loves a good sci-fi and action. All I have left to say is: LONG LIVE THE KING!… Expand

There is definite enjoyment to be had with King of the Monsters. Godzilla and Kaiju fans like me will adore this film. However, it tries too hard to delve into it's human characters motivations, which are completely outlandish and taken tooThere is definite enjoyment to be had with King of the Monsters. Godzilla and Kaiju fans like me will adore this film. However, it tries too hard to delve into it's human characters motivations, which are completely outlandish and taken too seriously. The movie knows what people want, Sci-Fi Kaiju Battles, and it absolutely delivers. It's just a shame that it doesn't entirely capitalize on that concept. Instead it tries to make more of it's human characters than it needs to, resulting in annoyingly boring sections of the movie a chore to sit through. In a desperate attempt to make the human's in a monster movie more serious and relevant than what they need to be, it almost misses the point of it's own outlandish movie plot. Almost.

Whenever Kaiju are on screen, the movie shines and is incredibly rewarding and entertaining, making you remember why exactly you wanted to watch this film, and ultimately, you will be more than satisfied. After separating the wheat from the chaff, you see a Godzilla film, a worthy one at that. Therefore, I am more than pleased with King of the Monsters as a massive fan of the franchise, I just wish the overly serious yet insanely stupid human elements didn't drag it down.… Expand

2019 was an awesome year for cinema. We finally get to see the final chapter of the Star Wars saga, the avengers endgame and this one which is Epic. Godzilla king of the monsters is one of the best of 2019.

This movie did NOT deserve all of the hate that it got. Very good story, stunning visuals, awesome fight scenes, the titans look incredible, and more. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This somehow did nealy everything better than the other MonsterVerse movies. The Titan fights were way more epic and over the top (although this movie felt way less realisting than the first Godzilla MonsterVerse movie because of that), the characters felt way more likeable as they had way better motives to do what they did in the movie, the CGI was absolutely amazing and made it seem like the Titans featured were actually real and causing all of this destruction and some scenes actually made me cry (especially the one where Dr.Serizawa sacrifices himself by bringing a nuke to Godzilla so he can stop King Gidorah from basically destroying the world).… Expand
