Really enjoyable, a very good 8 as an action flick. Long, uncut action scenes were the highlight of the experience, even if it did fall back into some annoying tropes.

The one camera action scenes are revolutionary!! In general some of the best action scenes out there, in many cases better than even John Wick 4! The story is too simple though.

I loved Chris Hemsworth in Extraction (2020). Getting to see him outside of Marvel in a fun action movie, was enjoyable. However, it was a very flawed movie that felt lacking compared to something like 'John Wick'. Still, I saw potential in aI loved Chris Hemsworth in Extraction (2020). Still, I saw potential in a sequel so I was not surprised when Extraction 2 was announced. Does this improve on its predecessor or continue to have the same problems?

Let's start with why people are watching this: the action. The action scenes are still a blast to watch! The violent and brutal fist fights with the swift gunplay are all incredibly well choreographed. The sequel also tops the first movie's one-shot action sequence by being 21 minutes. It isn't just longer though, it is well-connected and more awesome as well. The prison sequence is phenomenal with how tense it is and how our main character punches his way out. Chris Hemsworth continues to be charismatic and charming as our main character: Tyler Rake. Chris does a lot of his own stunts and it clearly shows in the excellent action scenes. He also gets to do more emotional moments as well making his character a little more interesting. Golshifteh Farahani returns as Nik, a mercenary ally of Tyler, and she gets a lot more to do this time. She has her fight scenes that are great to watch as well.

One element that is improved is Tyler Rake having more characterization. We barely knew or cared about him in the first movie but this time we get to know more about him through his past and interactions with others. It also helps that this mission feels more meaningful to his character as he is having to extract someone more connected to him. His friendship with Nik is also explored a bit more. It feels like there is more of a stake this time which makes me care more about what is going on in the story. The villain is also more threatening this time with him physically hunting down our characters and actually fighting our main character. However, this movie doesn't improve upon everything. The plot is still predictable and bare bone as the first movie was. Nothing interesting occurs whatsoever in the plot; it hits all the cliché beats you would expect. There is also some shaky cam in some of the sequences which is a little distracting when it mostly maintains a clean stable shot during the action. Some of the action scenes can feel a bit questionable as well. For example, the main character stands completely still but the enemy misses or the main character not taking proper cover while being shot at. There is also a fair amount of bad CGI such as the helicopters which is very noticeable. One thing Chris got to do in Extraction 1 was punch a kid. Unfortunately, he does not do that in the second film but there is definitely a kid that deserved a punch from him.

Overall, this is a big improvement. I enjoyed this sequel a lot and if the next entry continues to improve even further, then I am 100% watching the 3rd one. Hopefully, he gets to punch a kid again though.… Expand

Great popcorn action movie in the vein of Wick and the Equalizer (and obviously if you liked the first this is more of the same). How do I even start this review, Stop Reading this and go and watch this movie, Get Netflix to watch it and then cancel or find it elsewhere and watch this in the highest quality possible.

It takes risks with its action scenes, expands its own universe, uses a generic evil bad guy plot and works with it, it doesn't waste time on unnecessary things and even if you've never watched the first film you'll be engaged and pretty much understand the characters and the plot.

The Action, OMFG. These are some of the best action sequences I've seen, The jail Break Scene is Jaw-Dropping, look John Wick movies are excellent but this shows the grit and a bit of realism of Gun, Melee and Soldier Combat.
it's just a Fantastic piece of film when the no-cut camera is in place.

Critics have this movie all wrong, I want more, I need Extraction 3, Right now.

Ratings:
CGI: 9/10, Im a stickler for this stuff, I can see when they combined CGI in Scenes, Gamer Eyes I guess.

Characters: 9/10, While some are less important they provide plot flow. But the supporting Characters, *Chefs Kiss.

Action, 10/10, Extreme, Brutal, Satisfying and Logical even with the ridiculousness.

Story & Plot: 7/10, Unlike the first movie it takes a generic approach but works with it extremely well. Even the most Generic Plot line can be done well, This movie proves it.

Film and Cinematography: 10/10, It Keeps you in the film and even in the low points it grabs you back in with the action.
Action movies of this style just speak to me, it's grounded unlike John Wick recently(JW is still a great movie)

So this is a 9/10, now before you say anything, 9/10 for this movie means it satisfies everything it was trying to do over and above the film standard with minor problems, mainly the plot, the villain and the length.

A 9/10 for me means "Watch this now", you will enjoy the action guaranteed.

Everyone that made this film as well as the first one should be proud, this is close to one of those masterclass action films.

Just a whole bunch of fun. If you want a solid action movie, made for adults, then this should be your jam.

Recommended if you like The Raid, Rambo, or Gangs of London.

Here's the deal: Are you interested in a film that is essentially two excellent 30 minute long action sequences with a bit of plot to hold it together? If so, Extraction 2 is for you. If that doesn't sound like your bag, move along.

Enjoyable sequel to Hemsworth's big Netflix hit is bigger, faster and has some pretty great set pieces. But like its predecessor, it is thinly plotted and essentially a way to string one action set pieces together. Still worth a watch.
