Hemsworth is re-joined here by Marvel Comic Universe–screenwriter Joe Russo and stunt-specialist-turned-director Sam Hargrave, but their ace-in-the-hole is cinematographer Newton Thomas Sigel. He creates impossibly long single takes of complicated fighting or driving scenes that put the viewer directly into the action like few other thrillers. Read full review

Some composited landscapes and helicopters don't pass the believability test, and a few big camera moves that take us from outside to inside and vice-versa are too clever for their own good. But it's all so intricate and expertly timed that you still appreciate it, as one might a performance of a fiendishly difficult piano concerto where just hitting the notes is beyond most players' capabilities. An action movie that delivered the action, and what a frenetic, few moments of dialogue served to take a breath away.The story agree with other reviews could be worked on more.
In general, it's worth watching next to some lame movies that come out nowadays.

VERY solid action movie, better than the first one which I liked. Absolutely top notch action sequences throughout, I was sitting on the edge of my seat several times during the movie. Enjoyable sequel to Hemsworth's big Netflix hit is bigger, faster and has some pretty great set pieces. But like its predecessor, it is thinly plotted and essentially a way to string one action set pieces together. Still worth a watch.

Filmed across four countries, "Tyler" (Thor's Chris Hemsworth) is hired out of retirement to extract his ex-wife's sister and kids from aExtraction II (6/16/23, Netflix, R, 2hr, D/Sam Hargrave), written/produced by the Russo brothers, continues the high octane action from 2020's original. Filmed across four countries, "Tyler" (Thor's Chris Hemsworth) is hired out of retirement to extract his ex-wife's sister and kids from a Czech prison, but he and his team of two are up against a huge, ruthless band of a drug/arms runners. There's lots of intense hand-to-hand fighting since everyone is wearing layers of body armor, lots of chases, and lots of equipment destruction. The betrayal that the story turns on is understandable but it's executed stupidly, in fact there are a few stupid moments mixed in with all the octane and that's why you're seeing some low reviews, and it's why I knocked this down to a 7. Also, Hemsworth doesn't act so much as fight/bludgeon, his character is more Neanderthal than modern action hero so that's a problem too. Anyway, they all but telegraphed there'd be a third adventure minus "Yaz", so this might be a new action franchise we're seeing unfold.… Expand
