Intense, creepy and rather mysterious; it is emotionally manipulative with a stunning lead performance by Sarah Bolger; Emelie is indeed a must - see!

An original idea too, as far as I know. The stuff this babysitter gets up to is truly shocking and I'm quite surprised they subjected these child actors to certain scenes. It's not the kind of film that ties up every loose end either, in a good way, leaving some suspense left over. A good one for horror/thriller fans definately Expand

Maybe you can watch this movie the next time the baby sitter comes over! Expand

Instead of the butcher, we have a completely insane babysitter who has no motivation for her actions beyond being completely insane. Instead of the gore, we have a babysitter doing child abuse. The effect is the same: cheap and nonsensical disturbing and disgusting scenes for cheap thrills. Except these have less of a justification than mosy gore movies, and that's saying something. All technical aspects are OK (with a special mention to the surprisingly good child actors), but can't save the premise and the plot. If you like your movies being something more than a loosely connected series of exploitative and gratuitous disturbing scenes, stay away. Expand

Their usual sitter is not available so they hire a friend of hers. But once the parents leave the house, this new sitter does things differently. Way differently. In flashback, we discover the history of the new sitter, and it's not good. This must be every parent's nightmare, leaving your kids with someone who is not what they appear to be. Expand

Once again another experience to take in the adventure of these unknown movies, Emelie makes us love it a lot and then it soon becomes forgettable. Bring me a huge leap and don't forget about this movie.

The story (deranged babysitter) is one that's been told countless times before, however the nature of the way Emelie toys with her charges emotions differs from the usual approach. This in my opinion sets it aside from anything that has come before. Some of the scenes are quite disturbing which is exactly what you want to see in a film of this nature. The ending is quite formulaic and leaves you feeling it could and maybe should've been slightly more dramatic. Expand

It's a horror/thriller and the story seems simple enough, the parents of three children get a babysitter in while they are on a date and apparently her names Anna. She seems like a lovely young lady but turns very creepy as time goes on and even watches what seems to be dirty adult videos with the children she's babysitting and turns rather hideous and nasty towards them. I've to be honest I enjoyed the beginning and this film was great until the end which was awful and it's a dark film and Sarah Bolger was excellent as Anna or Emilie as one of the kids discovers raiding her bag to find out their so called babysitter isn't who she is intended to be. This so called horror lacks gore, blood but it is fairly scary but destroyed as the film develops and a lot of it's in darkness and you've no idea what's going on and the ending sucks badly. The babysitter even tells one of the children about her period which was seriously disturbing along with what seems to be a dirty adult video she watches with the children which was also disturbing. Great acting by all the cast but poor film and an ending that destroyed the good work originally done earlier in the movie. Avoid this film. Expand
