While the movie suffered from the same problems as its predecessor (both needed to be closer to the books), it was still a good adaptation, and a very funny one too! I recommend it for any famiy wanting to have some good laughs!

Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2: Rodrick Rules is still being as faithful to the bestseller as the first one, and conserves the same entertainment and thought-provoking ending as well, even if at the end you'd feel more doody jokes than a sleekness.

Let me start by saying the books better. The characters are the same funny ones from the previous movie also. This is a good improvement from the first. I would say watch it.

Funny and entertaining for all ages. The critics can never give a movie like Diary of a Wimpy Kid a good review, because it would expose them as average, everyday people and not intellectually superior to the rest of us. Loded Diper rocks!

These are kids being kidsy, and it is awesome. Expand

'Rodrick Rules' focuses more on the Heffley family and benefits from this small change. The Jokes are bigger, the gags are better and the message is more gentle. I suggest watching this with a brother or sister even just for bonding purposes. The cast doesn't disapoint and Zachery Gordon puts on a better, more likeable performance. Greg feels more like a bit part, leaving the other characters to come into their own. Certainly a good thing and one of the best unanimated family films I've laid eyes on. Expand

With a little less of a focus on gross-out gags, "Rodrick Rules" is well-acted, funnier, wittier and more entertaining than its predecessor. While I'm not sure if it will convert newcomers to the series into fans of the series, I can say for sure that "Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules" is an improvement from the first movie and is definitely worth watching. Plus, Manny gets into a little bit of trouble at one point! He has a "talk" with Susan and how he shouldn't put cookies in video game devices. Then, he makes a present for Greg and says: " I'm sowwy Bubby." It was really funny because Frank freaks out in one scene when his "toy" was on the thermostat. It sounded like he said: "Hey! What the Hell!" when he freaked out. I also like Holly, because she is one of those girls who lives with a rich family, but is nice to every one. In the first movie, there weren't a lot of girls. I like it when movies have more girls. Expand

Greg's Seventh Grade Adventures: New Friends, Crushes, and Hilarious Pranks!

Greg (Zachary Gordon) has now entered seventh grade and spends time with his wimpy friends. The arrival of a new girl, Holly Hills (Peyton List), who captivates everyone's attention with her long blond hair, adds excitement to their school. In an amusing Freudian moment, Greg's friend Rowley (Robert Capron) awkwardly comments, "She's as pretty as my mom." Greg's parents embody the typical embarrassing parents, while Greg and his older brother Roderick (Devon Bostick) develop a closer bond as they share a secret. Roderick, a member of the garage rock band "Loded Diper," offers advice to Greg on how to impress Holly. Additionally, there's a talent contest in town, and Rachel Harris portrays the mom, resembling Tina Fey in a non-threatening manner. She prefers movies where a man chooses the maid over the supermodel.

The movie includes mischievous pranks that portray the kind of mischief we wish our own kids would engage in. It's a great choice for a family night as it provides amusement that is enjoyable for adults as well. Personally, I find this installment even better and funnier than the previous one.

In this film, we delve into the brotherly relationship between Greg and Rodrick. Rodrick teaches Greg how to be lazy and get others to do his tasks for him. Additionally, the song "Loaded Diaper" in this movie is catchy and memorable.

I have a confession to make: When I first saw this movie and Holly Hills (Peyton List) appeared on screen, I actually developed a massive crush on her. I found her incredibly beautiful in every aspect.

The cast, as with the previous movie, delivers outstanding performances in their respective roles. Although the movie differs from the book, unlike the previous installment, I equally enjoy both the book and the film.

If you enjoyed the previous movie, you'll certainly enjoy this one. About a year ago, I was thoroughly entertained by "Diary of a Wimpy Kid," a film adaptation of the successful book series by Jeff Kinney. It seems to have performed well worldwide, which justified a sequel based on the second book, "Rodrick Rules." The sequel primarily focuses on the dynamics within the Heffley family, particularly between Greg (Zachary Gordon), now in seventh grade, and his older brother Rodrick (Devon Bostick), while maintaining its quirky comedy and school shenanigans.

David Bowers, known for directing "Flushed Away" and "Astro Boy," takes over from Thor Freudenthal as the director for this Wimpy Kid installment, while retaining signature elements, such as the animated design directly inspired by the books. We are reintroduced to the Heffley family, and it's impressive how the numerous incidents and subplots take on a life of their own, offering slices of life moments ranging from puppy love to sibling rivalry. Greg develops an infatuation with the new student Holly Hills (Peyton List), going to great lengths to get to know her. His friendship with best friend Rowley (Robert Capron) suffers when he refuses to be Rowley's sidekick in a magic show for the town's talent contest. Meanwhile, Rodrick continues to bully Greg, leading to hilarious situations, including a memorable scene where Greg runs around in his underwear at an old folks home.

These are just three of the many comical situations found in this installment, accompanied by a house party that cannot be mentioned. However, it's worth noting that setups often pay off much later, resulting in hilarious sucker punches with excellent.
