This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The movie just showcased why the tv series is the conclusion of the Coming Age Arc of Tanjiro. And in my opinion, what Gotouge’s writing really excels at besides empathy is the clashing of ideologies and what each of opposing characters represent thus making the stakes a lot higher.

CHARACTERS 10/10
Gotouge is also good in balancing the roles each character play. I love how Inosuke was given as much screen time as Tanjiro and how he really shined through especially with his end dialogue. Rengoku’s character was established really well (even with such a short period time)
. There were many moments that gave more depth to Tanjiro’s character. Zenitsu’s and Nezuko’s may have shorter screentime than most but they were animated really well.

PLOT 9/10
There were many foundations that help build the world of demon slayer in this arc.
(Introduction of each breathing style, Tanjiro’s black sword, contrast between lower and upper moon, contrast between a level 10 demon slayer corp and a Hashira).

The shift between serious undertones to comedy is typical Demon slayer style. Fans or just anyone who had watched the anime would be familiar with this but may shock first time viewers.

DIALOGUE: 10/10
The voice acting especially of Tanjiro’s seiyuu (in the subbed) took it to the next level. It hits you where it hurts. His end dialogue just became so much more poignant because of the anguish you hear from his voice. You really feel how crush his spirits were. Rengoku’s entire dialogue throughout the film is inspiring, relatable and words to live by. His seiyuu’s voice acting has also done an excellent job.

Lastly, this movie was such a tribute to Rengoku as it was to the fans. SN: My only criticism in this, is I wish the studio would have adapted until Chapter 67 of the manga (even if it’s just an end credit) just so that some of the plot points get across the audience who are anime only watchers. (In my theory, the studio assumed that the audience have all read the manga.) Gotouge’s writing has a lot of narration and Ufotable animates these or tell this through dialogues but some of the narrations were not included in the anime and in this film. It did not short on beautiful fight scenes strong visual effects. and the last minutes where one of the key characters (Rengoku) dies was no exception. The series has the exact same beauty of it's bloody fight sequences. This film is not just blood. It has heart, and a touch of comedy. The animation was incredibly fun to watch. The beauty of the series is often the sad reality of the lives many characters had. And they really showed it here with some of the characters and their determination in spite of their past. That is what is so interesting, how different people react to adversity. It is at the heart of the movie. In the end it was just like a 3-4 episode saga all wrapped together with much better animation. I will say, once the fighting began there was a lot of energy. Impacts mattered. I can't say enough good. All I can say is this, it made me actually very excited at the end, and satisfied and emotionally invested. Well done.… Expand

I liked the anime but was not impressed that they are continuing anime with movie. After I finished the movie, i realize that I shouldn't have worried about this thing from the start. Composition of action and conversation in between were also balanced. (This thing is difficult to balance but they did it). Rengoku's character was well written. The music and score for the villains was amazing all though the rest of the soundtrack was a bit bland at times since it was the same as the show. There is no point in complaining that you need to watch the show before hand. I very very much enjoyed the ending of the movie. It was sad yet heartwarming and a good send off to the characters for the next adventure. I was still left with a few questions but they were very minor and it would have been nice to see a couple scenes to conclude the plot. The villains motivations are not very clear but do not necessarily need to be since they are demons duh. They should be mysterious and pure evil it is just how it is. This movie made me feel all emotions just the right amount of times. I am glad with the inclusion of comedy it never strayed you away from the action it was very balanced. This is by far my favorite anime and it is hard to be unbiased even as a film lover. I think that this arc didn’t really need to be a movie but it definitely benefited and the payoff was worth it. I just saw it yesterday. Never been so on par with IGN until now. The first part was boring, some parts were great and enjoyable to watch but only the fights. The second part was the only GOOD scene. I loved the movie I think it’s deserving of getting a 10 but if you have not watched and finished the anime at all. Then I recommend not watching this in the first place because it’s canon and ties in with the anime.

Beautiful visuals that also adds to the artistic narrative. Studio Ufotable definitely never disappoints with animation, especially in this, they just keep one upping itself again and again. If you love the show, it's worth it, I don't get why people would watch this if they didn't like the show in terms of characters, what did they expect? The movie is an arc to the story, not a standalone film. The pacing throughout the film is amazing. The voice acting (sub) is really high quality and was even emotional for me. The CGI used is really well done, didn't distract me at all. Story wise, there were so many awesome plot-twists/story-elements that just made me love the characters even more, and was very understandable to follow. There was no dumb 10-15min recap at all, goes straight into what we left off at in season 1. Character portrayal is fantastic as well, would say few wouldn't like Enma since the demon is the standard psychopath who monologues kind of character, but believe me, it's worth the watch since there's more to it. 10/10… Expand

Demon Slayer is an anime directed and written by Zach Aguilar, and animated by Ubisoft. And my, it is quite satanic in a way. It is not amazing, it is not good, it is not okay, it is not bad.... it's literally beyond HORRIBLE. Aguilar has developed and directed games in the past like Fire Emblem: Three Houses, and Genshin Impact. Those were both a disgrace to humanity in their own ways. Well, Demon Slayer is about.... a young boy who comes back from hunting (which is very disrespectful to the envoirment already, why is that boy so hurtful?) only to find his whole family murdered by a demon. You can tell Aguilar is a sadist already, that young boy could have had some amazing adventures with his family instead of making them get killed by a demon. Well, one of his relatives do survive, his little sister..... who becomes a demon. WHY IS AGUILAR SUCH A SATANIST???? And so, the big brother vows to destroy all demons to save his sister, which is very hurtful to the earth. I would also like to mention the main antagonist of this sadistic and satanic show very closely resembles Micheal Jackson, which is very terrible that Aguilar would mock a brilliant performer with lots of personal problems like this. Aguilar's version of Micheal Jackson also turns people, including the main character's sister, into demons from Hell, which is the main reason why this show is so satanic. The two other "main heroes" in this anime is a crazy loon who can't shut up, and a person who uses the head of a boar for a mask, which is also disrespectful to nature and animals. The movie Infinity Train's title is stolen DIRECTLY from the Cartoon Network show of the same name, and to make matters worse, it topped the box office on its second week. This really makes me want to give up on all faith, hope, and life. Demon Slayer in general is even targeted towards kids, with the cute cartoony art style and character designs, and even a Happy Meal in Japan. Please. Do not trust this terrible show. Zach Aguilar just wanted people to fall for a trap into satanism. Bring your kids far away from this, and make them watch something like a Nick Jr. show instead. Don't watch this horrendous show ever.… Expand

First of all, Mugen Train is a canon sequel to the first season of Demon Slayer and it connects the gap between the first season and the second season.

Now, the story in Mugen Train is just a minor part of a bigger narrative and it's not really important at all.
The characters, however, are very good; I never really liked Tanjiro and Inosuke in the first season of the series as much as I liked them here. But the biggest surprise of them all is Kyojuro Rengoku; he was completely irrelevant in the first season of the series but he surprised me a lot in Mugen Train; he might even be one of my favorite characters in the series for now.
My favorite part of the movie though and its selling point is the absolutely excellent animation and fight scenes. The first season of Demon Slayer already had fantastic animation and great fight scenes but Mugen Train took it to another level; the animation in particular is undoubtedly one of the best I've ever seen, period.
As for the flaws, there is some CGI in the movie and it doesn't look good for the most part, unfortunately, but the rest of the movie looks gorgeous.
Also, the first half of the movie is slightly uninteresting and not on par with the second half.

Pros:
+ Likable characters + Mind-blowing animation
+ Incredible fight scenes

Cons:
- Inconsistent CGI
- Slow first half

Final Rating: 8.5/10
- Really Great -
As someone who isn't the biggest fan of the first season of Demon Slayer, all I can say is that I never saw it coming; Mugen Train takes the best parts of the first season and makes everything better.

Do I recommend it?:
If you're a fan of the series, watch it!

Overall the pacing is good, I can’t remember a moment where I felt bored or anything but it also isn’t that engaging either, I would say that it has a very safe narrative. In the first half the stakes are set and the characters somewhat developed but the second act stumbles a little as it feels somewhat lazily written, with characters appearing out of nowhere and giving directions to other characters. The movie does a great job to remind us how kind Tanjiro is, it’s hard to not like him and root for him. He represents good people that have been caught in an unfair and oppressive system, he knows it but he’s still willing to do his best. Is pretty easy to make a character like him so boring but he is the total opposite. Same as the show Inosuke and Zenitsu are so much fun to be around and I think they are one of the strongest aspects of the anime, here they have some cool moments and Inosuke have more screen time than I anticipated but I would prefer any day to have these three interacting more. Nezuko on the other hand, I like her but is easily one of my least favorite characters as she is too tropey for me.

One of the stars of the movie is Rengoku, he is a very likable character and the movie takes its time to develop him and shows us enough of his backstory to care for him, every time he appears the animation goes full kinetic and energetic, and because he is so fun and compelling to be around by the end of the movie you’ll likely want more of him. In the same vein as the show, the quality of animation it’s good but most of the time its quality will be more like an episode than a movie, however, fights are where the money is probably at as they are pretty intense, especially the last one on which the stakes went from 0 to 200. That being said, to me, Kimetsu no Yaiba’s antagonists aren’t that good, at least to this point in the story they felt generic and their personality tends to be pretty similar between each other, what the anime did great with them, however, are their backstories as they feel strong, sincere and easy to relate. The main antagonist for the movie is serviceable to the plot but isn’t a compelling one. He falls into this new kind of trend of deviant antagonists who has some kind of sexual pleasure when they murder people, and that trait isn’t bad per se (speaking in terms of storytelling mind you, any type of murder is bad, don’t do it), but this character doesn’t have more to them.

The ending was surprisingly great, it certainly elevates the movie by just having it, as it is pretty effective and it has the perfect timing for everything, there was a kind of plot twist that seemed out of nowhere but the more we follow that thread the more I feel it is right, so who knows.

Mugen Train it’s like a long episode of the anime, and that is both a good and a bad thing, as it maintains a good standard of everything but it also doesn’t surpass your expectations by much. For fans of the anime, it’s a no-brainer to watch it but if you’re currently struggling to continue the series I don’t think this movie will change your mind.… Expand
